Due to an appointment at a different salon being canceled I found my self desperate for a blow dry/ style on a Saturday afternoon for my brother's wedding. I am visiting from NYC and was referred to Nico Bella but they were closed and recommended that I go to magnolia. I was very nervous about finding a place because we have very high standards in NYC.
I told the girl that I was wearing a 50's style dress so would like feminine curls, but my hair does not hold curl so if you think it is no possible then lets try a 1/2 up style or volume pony tail. I even showed her some pictures.
She started by not washing my hair and saying that it will style better dirty and that she feels she can get it to curl. When she finished my hair looked nothing like the photos and did not look good at all! It had wavy curls and my hair still looked greasy from my morning run.
So we decided to try a 1/2 up to see if that would look better. Nope, now my hair looks teased, frizzy and still nothing like the photos I showed her. I asked her to do something about the frizz, she added de-frizzing oil to my hair....so it is now heavier and greasier. This is going downhill so I tell her just to do voluminous pony. It still is not looking right....b/c my hair looks greasy and teased. At this point I am now using the brush to try and work my hair and get it into some kind of ponytail. It is not working. I really think my hair should have been washed and then used volumizing products and a nice blow out. After multiple attempts I payed for the service and left. I went to the salon next door to see if they could help me....they were completely booked. The receptionist helped me to call other salons to find an appointment and of course everyone is booked on a Saturday afternoon. I am on the verge of tear as this hair is now going to be in wedding photos. With no choice left, I go back to Magnolia and plead for them to fix my hair. They tell me they are booked for the rest of the day and cannot help me. The person I spoke with said she had 7min that she can try to give it some curl and try to make it a little bit better. At this point this is all I have left to try. The only good thing they did do was give me with a comb and some hair spray so that I can try and fix it up just before the wedding.
Of course 3 hours into the wedding all of my curls fell out and I was in the changing room re-curling my hair.
This was a horrible experience that led me to nearly crying with no options.
