Let’s start with my background- I’ve spent nearly 2k on my hair and over 25 hours in a chair this past year getting my hair to where it was before this visit. There was nothing wrong with my hair, I was just ready to get one step closer to that envied, platinum color.
The stylist, Savannah, explained that she needed to lighten all the brown that was still left in my hair after the many, many heavy highlighting sessions that I’ve had. She said that she would do that and then put a cool toner in this session and then would paint in blonde next time. All of this made sense, until it didn’t.
After she washed my hair, I noticed just how dark my hair was and wanted to die. I had mentioned it and she said just wait until it was dried. It was dried and I am mortified that after all the time and money I’ve spent (today and in the past), I now have darker hair instead of the lighter hair that I wanted. I started freaking out and she said let’s go outside and look. It did make me feel better because it wasn’t as dark as it was inside, but it’s still so much darker than it was or has been in a long time.
My hair was bright, shiny, blonde and mostly healthy - almost 100% to my desired look. Now it’s dark, dull and nearly a grey color— all my hair feels fried. The money aside (almost $300), I’m stuck with this hair for at least a month and it makes me sick to my stomach- it looks like I tried to use box color on my hair.
Update:
The manager then attempted to lighten the roots and now I have orange/copper penny roots- it looks like I had a child mix up box color and put it on my hair. The hair looked better and more natural before the “correction” was attempted. I’m now stuck with this hair for two weeks before another stylist will attempt to make me look presentable.
My hair went from stunning, to gross and then worse, which I didn’t think was possible.
I was told my money will be refunded, but it still doesn’t make things right. I now have to live with this hair for the time being, I’m now SO far away from my desired color and my hair is majorly damaged. Not to mention, all the money I’ve spent before has basically been thrown away and I’m going to have to pay someone for at least 3 more appointments to get to where I was before this catastrophe.
Photos show what my end goal was, my hair before it was touched, after the first appointment and now.
