I've being going to Phia for 2 years and have Annah as my primary stylist, but have seen a few other girls for color re touches and most recently saw Ryann for a wash and blowout! No matter who I've seen, I always leave looking and feeling beauty! Ryann did an amazing job yesterday, she blowout my hair, but added this amazing twist of curl at the ends, it looks stunning!! I came into Phia for my birthday with a level 4 stylist named Autumn . We realized that my budget demanded a lower level, and she quickly booked me with another stylist. She did a strand test for my next visit, which was quite thoughtful! I appreciated how both stylists took the time to text me and get a full idea of my goals. Leah took care of me today and did a bit of a color correction. I am pleased with the results. The yellow strands left out of the processing (I got highlights and lowlights) were toned down, but I still expected less brass as that was our main goal... I only realized as the day progressed I have a mixture of very bright ash blonde and more caramel tones. She was working with a difficult base, so I understand, and I hope as time goes on we can achieve my ultimate goal. I also appreciated all of her advice as I grow out my pixie and booked a haircut and toning treatment in 10 weeks with her. Despite being level 1 (she is new to the salon), she has 15 years experience. Hoping Phia will be my home salon! Will review again to update.

Such a great place to get a haircut! They have great options and so so many stylists. Their website is easy to use for booking, and they've got all sorts of perks for first time customers. My hair was so soft and pretty after my cut even with minimal product. I'll definitely be back for my next cut and style. I had MJ as my stylist, and she was so talented and nice!

The girl at the check-in desk was very friendly and though it was no problem when that I was a walk-in, she went and checked to see if someone could do a blowout and Dev was free. Dev did a great job explaining the options and offering me a conditioning treatment & scalp massage along w/ my wash and blowdry. She then did a fantastic job with my blowout, and i have LONG THICK hair! Loved it & will definitely return.

Nikki was wonderful! :D I really like being able to book my own apt times and playing with who/when so I can fit my schedule best for me. This means bouncing around stylists and I am seeing that as an added feature to Phia. There are some I'd like to see again for sure! But it's not always easy and I am one to not plan ahead far enough since I act on whim of noticing roots or feeling blah and needing work. I like the flexibility of fitting MY schedule and being able to count on a great stylist EVERY time :D

From someone who has had many terrible haircut experiences and was very hesitant to switch stylists once I moved to the area, I have to admit how happy I am that I finally did! This was my third time with Nikki and it was an absolute pleasure as always. My wait time was minimal, my facial was relaxing, and my haircut has been perfect. The staff was very nice. I was almost an hour late to my appointment, because I got lost. The manager called me to make sure I was ok and gave me directions. I had a WONDERFUL experience at Phia. My stylist was out of this world. I really appreciated how in depth she was, wanting to know exactly what I wanted. I was a bit nervous as this was the first time I have ever added color to my hair but she made me feel at ease and you could tell she was really focused/concerned about my happiness with the finished product. It was easy to relate to her. She was welcoming, talkative but not too talkative. I got the sense she really wanted me to enjoy my time there. I didn't sense any tension between employees, which can be common in a salon. To the contrary, there was communication and cooperation to make sure all went well. Rania was wonderful. I was so happy to be able to find a hair salon opened on Sundays. My normal hairstylist wasn't available for a week or so. I really wanted my hair done and was so impatient. I should have just waited to see my normal hairstylist because on top of the $265 I just spent at phia. I'll probably be paying $300 to get my color corrected. I was supposed to have a Balayge down with a medium brown and golden blonde. I do not know what the hairstylist did to my hair. It looks nothing like Balayge and sure was not worth the $265 I spent. She had to know she messed up because she never sent the pictures she took of my hair and I've asked her twice. It is now almost Wednesday. Also, she had her assistance mixing color and styling my hair that you could tell did not have experience. I should have something when I was there. But, I didn't want to be rude. I still gave her a tip. But, not as much as I would have it she did a really good job. I'm so, unhappy with my hair it isn't even funny. Update on my review- they had me come in for an adjustment. The stylists that worked on my hair the second job did an amazing job. I appreciate Phia contacting me to fix my hair and trying their best to where I would love my hair. I wish I would have had these stylists the first time I had came in. But, now I know to ask for a more experienced stylist.

I am happy to say that i had a great experience with Phia salon.I have to say i was worried about going to a salon in the very trendy Short North area.I am wife and mother of 2 and thought it was going to be to trendy or upscale for me.Not there not upscale but thought i might feel out of place since i live in the burbs.I was very surprised to say that i was very comfortable there and they are very kind and as i mom of 2 teenage girls i was glad to see the price was very fair.My stylist texted me soon after i made my appointment and ask for pictures of me so she can see my hair and i could text her a picture of the hair haircut i wanted so she can plan ahead of time since i was a new client. When i arrived i was warmly greeted by the receptionist and did not have to wait long to meet Aryn my stylist.She was very good and listening to what i was looking for.She was very patient told me what she was doing and always asked me my thought along the way.I also thought that it was great that she had a senior stylist to check her work so if anything need any changing then she would do so.I really appreciate that she wanted to make sure i was happy with my hair.I left there very happy and plan to take my family there.

This was my first time at the salon. I went on a recommendation from a friend. From the initial phone call to book, I knew it would be a great experience. They were friendly and knowledgeable. When I arrived at the salon, a gentleman promptly signed me in and asked if I would like I beverage. My hairdresser was on time, provided me with tons of feedback and answered all of my silly questions without hesitation. I received a complimentary head massage - which was so great - and she walked me through what products she was using and why she recommended them. She spent a lot of time on my hair and took my thoughts seriously. I was very pleased with the value, and I will be returning at the end of next month! :) I have had great feedback from those who have seen it down and styled! It has styled easily too. Especially with my product purchases!

My experience at Phia was really nice. I was greeted by one of the owners, and he explained that my stylist was unable to come in that day but that they had assigned me another stylist (Red hair, female, new talent as of 8/13/2017. From St. Louis, has a cat and likes Game of Thrones & Parks & Rec). She was extremely nice and talked to me throughout the process. She consulted her superior (Dev) a lot, which was excellent because she truly cared about the outcome of my hair. She did a really, really good job of lightening the ends (she did a full balayage). She always let me know what she was doing and when. This color was on the house due to a very bad experience at Phia prior, that I had. I'm really pleased that Phia took this route to fix the experience. I would now return to Phia/Philosophia based on my experience with my stylist. My stylist was really great. She admitted to Dev when she wanted guidance and referred to knowledge she had from her background. She was always so thankful and nice to her coworkers, even when they didn't seem very polite/positive to her. Dev was also very helpful, kind and sweet. She really seems knowledgeable.

The salon was very busy. The employees were friendly but I did notice because of how busy it was customers had to wait. However, the employees were attentive once they were with you. I had a great haircut. I went in for a trim and wound up cutting off 6-7 inches. Although I'm not very daring with my hair, there was no judgment and they took great care of me and made me feel special. Would highly recommend.

Phia was a great value for the money spent. The website allows you to decide how much you want to spend, as well as to find the person with expertise on what you want. Sunshine did my haircut and eyebrow wax and was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. She was genuinely interested in what I wanted and used that information to offer helpful suggestions. She suggested products without being pushy, and was an all-around pleasure to have as a hair professional. The man working at the front was very friendly and helpful, as well. I had a wonderful experience at Phia Salon. I was in dire need of a hair cut and felt much lighter and confident when walking out of the salon. I also got a deep conditioning hair treatment, and my hair is still feeling soft days later. The biggest result was probably from the facial that I also received, which taught me that my skin was dry. I went out that day and bought face moisturizer and have noticed a big difference in my skin and a decrease in acne. It was also just an enjoyable experience, which is hard to come by!

This my first experience with going to an actual salon and was a birthday gift from my boyfriend. I was super nervous and excited since I have not had anything done with my hair in years and like I said I have never been to an "expensive" salon before. I had high hopes as I have been talking with my stylist Jenn, for a week now deciding on what I wanted and could do with my hair. Many photos were exchanged. I was pretty set on my cut but not the color. Came in for my appointment on 8/18/18. Met with Jenn and talked for awhile on my color. Finally decided on a full balayage. She started doing the color with foils and as she was about half way finished I asked if this was what a full balayage is, she said that she was doing a partial balayage with foils. Then the time for the cut came. She spent a lot of time on the ends. I asked for layers and thinning due to me having a lot of hair. The haircut I got was nothing like the picture and I was told "well the lady in the picture does not have the same hair as you" which I agree to. But I have had this cut before and it looked great. As I said I needed layers she proceeded to tell me "my next client is in 2 minutes so you can wait over an hour for me to finish or you can come back for another appointment". By this time I'm in tears as I was paying over $200 and have never paid that before for a haircut and appointment. I also live over an hour away and was planning on not coming back for at least 2 months. So I had to leave with an unfinished hair cut. When I got home I looked at the color and it's not the "balayage" look. I have big chunks of color starting about halfway down my hair. I specifically asked that when I straighten my hair not to have a line that goes across. The color is also not even close to what I had wanted and what we had discussed. I had to go to fiesta salon today to get the cut fixed, but even with a new cut my hair is pretty much fried and cant do much with it. To say the least I am very disappointed in my first experience with a "nice, expensive" salon. I guess I will have to wait a few months for to go spend more money somewhere else to get the color I want without ruining my hair even more.

I went to Phia four times and really wanted to love them, considering how highly rated they are. They're all very friendly and the space is very open and inviting. However, after '3 strikes', I realized I'm just wasting money, and it's taking way longer for my hair to grow out than it should. (If you're growing your hair out from a pixie-type style and in that 'awkward' phase, I caution you to maybe look elsewhere, unless you can afford a 'Level 5' stylist there every time.) Summary of my experience: My first cut was with a Level 5. I was very happy with my cut, but with 20% tip it was over $100 – too expensive for me. Second cut was 'Strike 1', when a Level 2 stylist gave me a ton of short layers around my face, essentially undoing several months of growth. This new cut looked so 'mullet-y' when dry that I needed to wear it in a ponytail all the time. Third time I tried a different Tier 2 stylist, and I was actually happy with the cut I received. I came back the fourth time to see her, but she had apparently failed to tell me she wouldn't be in on our appointment day (the other stylists were a bit surprised that I hadn't been told) – 'Strike 2'. I would have rescheduled with her if she had told me, but since I had already driven there, I agreed to be seen by a different Tier 2, who – for the money I spent – barely cut my hair at all, agreeing these weird layers around my face needed to grow out. She didn't touch my bangs (which I ended up just trimming myself less than a week later, as well as the length because it still looked 'mullet-y' to me), so for the amount of work she did on my already-awkward-transitional-bob-to-long-hairstyle, it was another waste of money – back in the ponytail as soon as I walked out. Before going to Phia, I had cut my own hair for 15 years. Unfortunately, Phia didn't work out for me – maybe it will for you – so I'm going back to cutting my own hair again for a while to make up for the money I feel like I've lost. Edit: I appreciate Phia's response to this review, however I'd like to politely decline their offer for me to come in for a free trim up because as I mentioned, I feel like my layers need to grow out for a while (and I've already trimmed the length myself). Thanks again though to Phia for their offer.

I decided to go with a big change for my hair this past week. I wanted bangs and I wanted to cut quite a bit off. The receptionist suggested I got to Jonell and the recommendation was a great one! My bangs look great, the upkeep is easy and the compliments I get from friends and coworkers seems to be never ending. The cut emphasizes my natural hair color to the point people think I've gotten it dyed! I am very happy with the experience and the cut! It was a very friendly environment, easy to get to and I've gotten many positive reviews on my cut!

Phia was rated very well with wonderful praises so I gave it a try and they met all my expectations! I was greeted by everyone when I entered which I really like as it really irritates me to sit somewhere and not be acknowledged until it is your appt time and then be greeted by the same person that has walked by you already several times! I didn't have a very clear idea what I wanted, but my stylist, Marisa, did a fantastic job of listening. Based on our text conversation in advance of the appointment, she had two different methods of achieving my desired result to suggest when I came in - drawn up with prices and time estimates before we even started! In the end, it honestly came out better than I had pictured. I have been to other salons that are enjoyable because of the spa treatments and the nice atmosphere, but this is by far the most professional I have had the pleasure of working with.

Looking for a new salon, having moved from Phoenix, AZ. I went to Phia, to a stylist at a comparable price point of my previous stylist...either my amazing stylist in Phoenix was severely undercharging-she wasn’t- or Phia is ridiculously overpriced-they are. I came out of my first appointment with a choppy horror show on my head and leopard spots in all-over color due to misapplication. The most I have ever paid for the worst cut and color I have ever had. *disclaimer- I have been paying for funky cuts and colors for the last 15 years- I am willing to pay for time, talent and supplies. I expect to pay an artist well for their craft. This is not what happened at Phia. Two of the owners did correct my cut and color at no additional cost, as well as, provide subsequent discounted services. I appreciated the sentiment, but after three visits I have not yet seen the level of nuance I expect at this price point. TL;DR - If you are looking for an edgy cut and color- this is not the place to go. Update- While I appreciate the additional offers of discounts and finding a haircut under $30, please don’t- it shows that you are missing my point. I am happy to pay much more than $30 dollars for a cut deserving of the price, that is not the issue. I have already given your salon two additional tries with heavy discounts, the price is not the main issue. I sincerely appreciate the efforts put forth by everyone at Phia/Philosophie but it is not the place for me. Although credit where credit is due- I did get some amazing scalp massages during my services!!

She explained that she wanted my experience to be all that I expect and More. So, when I arrived my stylist already had anticipated my needs and expectations. Everyone's experience will be different but mines was horrible. The stylist I had complained the whole time he was doing my cut and arguing with the instructors guidance on the cut I wanted. It was no where near what I wanted and he was in a rush to be done. Each stylist that walked past, he would sarcastically say the cut I wanted n would complain to them that he had to do it. He complained that I had to much hair over and over. It was overwhelming. A salon experience is supposed to feel like you're pampering yourself, I felt like I was wrong for what I wanted, even though I was paying for it. Horrible experience and horrible cut. The manager saw his behavior and scolded him about it but did not proceed to apologize or make my experience more comfortable like it should have been. I paid almost 200 for this haircut for nothing. But the products are very nice. Just not that stylist. He was so rude.

I don't get my hair colored often but when I do, I liked Phia because of the product they used. The manager and staff has always been very nice to me for years, despite I only came once to twice a year. I scheduled a appointment to have a color and I received a text with the person scheduled to do my service. She introduced herself and she asked me to tell her about my hair concerns. I am a very busy individual and I simply just did not have time to respond. I received a text from Phia asking to confirm, which I did. Days before my appointment, I received another text from the person who was to do my service. In the text, she expressed that I had until 5 pm Friday to respond to her text or my appointment would like different when I arrived. I was very shocked and distributed. I called and spoke to the manager about canceling the appointment and rescheduling but the manager was more concerned about stopping the text messages then fixing the problem. All I wanted was to find a new appointment with someone different. I hate to leave because of the product was great but customer service over rules.

Anna was very knowledgable about my hair type (thin, fine) and the perfect cut for me. I told her I'd always wanted someone to take over my hair and manage it like a project. I felt she had already done that because she immediately told me what I needed to get the most out of my hair type. She also told me my hair was actually curly! (which I would never have guessed) She said I'm only 1 cut away from the perfect haircut which is exciting to look forward to. She told me very specifically what she was going to do & what products to use (even encouraged me to take a picture of the group of products she had used and recommended), I was taken back to the chair immediately upon arrival even though I was 12 minutes late due to parking. They were very accommodating and the mini facial I received (thanks Brandi) during my shampoo was so relaxing after a 10-hour day at work. I'm really looking forward to my next cut and maybe going blonde. I'd always wanted to but was discouraged by previous stylists. Anna did not agree at all so I think I'll go for it soon to celebrate my hoped-for retirement the end of the year. All in all, a wonderful experience, almost like a spa and I felt pampered. When asked if there was any changes I'd like to see in my look, she has made style and product recommendations that not only yielded positive results but have exceeded expectations. With that being said and my last hair cut, I had to post on my Facebook page how wonderful my hair looked and had been styled and usually I'm not that vain. The price on service is appropriate for the courteous and exceptional service you will receive. The product prices are sometimes tough to swallow, however, they work! Amazing service of course but what really makes them unique is the products they use. Every thing is natural and engendered to enrich and rejuvenate hair even the dye is made from all natural ingredients. They care about the customer and show it by not only listening to you but also they do things to make you feel as comfortable as possible for example they offer hot tea,coffe,and water as well as other drinks and even arm massages while your hair is being washed. This place is awesome and i have never had a bad experience.

When I called the salon, whoever I spoke to asked me several questions about my hair type and how to prioritize what treatment I should invest in according to what I want. My stylist then reach out to me, and personally asked to detailed questions, photos for ideas, and my hair type. NO ONE have ever done this for me and this is well beyond any type of service and personalization I've ever seen. I felt special and welcomed and valued. (I've been to some very expensive salons on the east coast and never received such great service.

Phia Salon exceeded my expectations. As an out of state resident, I was hesitant and a little nervous to find another hair stylist that I trusted. When I heard such good things from others about Phia Salon, I knew I had to try it and I'm so happy I did. I was greeted warmly by a friendly staff, and was offered something to drink as I waited for my stylist to be ready. My stylist was personable with me and asked me so many questions to make sure she knew exactly what I wanted to do with my hair. I felt comfortable with her the entire time I was there and I didn't really want to leave! In addition to my service, they offered me a complimentary service during my styling session and also a complimentary gift bag for being a new client. The salon was clean and trendy, the stylists were top notch, and the services were incredible for the price that I paid. It is safe to say that I am a loyal Phia Salon client and will recommend them to all of my friends and family for future visits!

I love going to this salon because it is a relaxing experience where I get to feel pampered. Everyone is very nice, the tea I am always offered is very good, and whoever ends up cutting my hair is great. The free facial is always a fun bonus to the experience. Prices are reasonable, especially considering where this salon is located, and my hair always looks and feels amazing afterwards! Getting a professional haircut here helps me look professional at my internship downtown- I wouldn't go anywhere else!
