I'm new to the area and needed to find a salon. I booked a waxing service at the Avant Gateway location through their website, and that went smoothly. I liked that I could view the bio for each staff member and select who I wanted for my appointment. It's a cute salon, I'll give them credit for that. But soon after I arrived, things went downhill quickly. They do not seem to treat their guests very well. When I checked in right on time, they asked if I wanted a drink... I asked for water, and never got any. I waited 20-25 minutes for my appointment without any explanation. The staff all seemed to be pretty low energy, which seemed kind of odd. As crazy as it sounds, I'd be willing to overlook these missteps *IF* the services they offer are good, but that also turned out to be a letdown. For my waxing service, my skin was not prepped in any way. I left with burning, irritated skin, which is completely avoidable when the service is performed correctly (like at other Aveda salons I've been to). I had to rush home to treat my skin before a rash developed... something I would expect my esthetician to do automatically! I really was not happy with my treatment, and unfortunately will have to keep looking for a decent salon in the area. This was the first local salon I had tried since moving here, and I do not plan to give them my business again. It really did not live up to the Aveda brand. Hopefully the managers see this review and work to correct the deficiencies, because it could be a nice salon someday.
