Something is going on here. I called for a price quote to put a little color on my 5 year old's ends. She's blonde naturally. They said it would be $100.00 per hour and that it's a 2 hour minimum. I explained her age and hair color and exactly what I wanted. They expect me to believe it's $220.00 to put something on her hair that will last 5-10 washes. Literally down the street, another salon guffawed at that price and is doing it for $50.00. Cut and style included. Beware.

***UPDATE*** The manager was very helpful and reached out to have me come back so they could make things right. She had Meridith correct my hair. They were very nice and Meridith did a great job my hair looks good now and I will continue to go to this salon but will be certain to make sure I am always scheduled with Meredith. I have been cutting and dying my own hair for most of my life because I had never had a good Salon experience. So I saw this place and all the great reviews in the pictures on Facebook and I thought let me give them a try. I had rather long hair almost Midway down my back and it was blond perhaps too yellow and brassy but it was blond. I called and was told I needed to come in for a consultation with a specific stylist the next morning but by the time I got there he apparently had quit and I was given to a different person. I filled out a lot of paperwork that nobody used and it was left laying on the counter. I explained that the reason I keep redying my entire hair which has caused a lot of damage at the ends was because I couldn't deal with the roots being dark and I was looking for a solution that would allow me to stop having to do the regular dying so that my hair could heal. I came back in a few days later for my appointment and I had to fill out the paperwork again because no one put it in the system . Absolutely nothing that was spoken about at the consultation occurred during the appointment. I mentioned at the consultation and during the appointment that I do not look good with short hair and I understood some damaged ends had to come off but I needed it to at least be laying on my shoulders. The Stylist talked about long layers and at the consultation he talked about doing a bayalage technique to resolve my problem with having to re-dye due to roots. After looking at several pictures of what this technique looked like I thought yeah I could do that. 4 hours at this salon and what I have is a very blunt haircut that is barely at my shoulders so now we can't cut anything else in to give it an actual style because it would be way too short. And I literally look like exactly what I went there to avoid and that is that at some point I dyed my hair blond and then went for a year without dying or touching it up. The entire top half of my hair is an ugly dark brown and the entire bottom half of my hair is somewhere between a bleeding Gray and blond there is no blending it looks like I literally just haven't had my roots touched up in over a year and to make matters worse now my hair is all wacked off with no Style. I'm now wondering if most of the Facebook pictures are actually pictures that are copied from some hairstyle magazine website. People can go to Fantastic Sams and get some person who literally just walked out of the Community College yesterday for 45 bucks and have hair that looks better than mine does right now. The more I look at my hair the angrier I get. I'm going to upload a photo of it to Google and hopefully it will show in the photos after people read this review...because trust me I am not exaggerating when I tell you how BAD this so called bayalage looks.

Years and years of putting my thick, curly head of hair at the mercy of many, many, many hair stylists across the U.S., I’ve NEVER had such an incredible and exceptional experience as I had with Meredith and Ashley R. at Twisted Scissors. Seriously ladies, I am not kidding. Meredith did a fabulous job with my curly haircut. My hair tends to flatten out at the top and get bushy at the bottom. It all depends on the degree of humidity influencing the behavior of my 2b/2c curls. Meredith gave me subtle extra layers at the top and OMG, did that make a difference! No other hair stylist was ever able to understand what I had wanted but if they did, they would give me choppy layers. Now to Ashley R.....I have resistant gray. She knew the perfect color to use to hide my grays. Not only that, but she gave me the best balayage ever! I’ve been to other salons in NC and have had a few balayage hair colorings so I know what to compare to. I kid you not, Ashley R. did everything right and beautifully with the perfect color and technique. Thank you both for your excellent service, commitment, dedication and hard work, in making ‘us’ all look and feel beautiful!

Always had a great experience with Twisted Scissors in the past, excellent front desk staff and great stylists. However my last experience after they changed locations will mean I won't be going back there. Front desk staff did an extremely poor job of communicating with me about my appointment and generally did not seem to know how to handle the situation well. If you value good customer service I would look elsewhere to get your hair cut.

I love the new salon. Three weeks ago was my first time to go since they moved. The difference is night and day. While the stylist that cut my hair has been extremely good each time I've seen him, the old salon always felt cluttered and cramped. The new salon is spacious, bright, inviting, and comfortable. Gone are the dark colored walls (which made the old salon feel that much more cramped), the waiting area has been moved to the front of the salon and is a nice place to sit and relax before your appointment. If you haven't been singe they were on Hwy-55, give them another chance.

I am doing highlights and was hard at the beginning because i am from Italy and wasn’t easy for her to catch the right tone and color for me, but she did and she did great! Twisted Svizzors is an awesome hair salon that anyone in the area should check out. I have been with three different stylist there and they were all Fantadric. However, Renee has to be my favorite and the one I go to most. She is extremely knowable, kind, generous and always leaves me feeling like a million bucks. Whether you are looking to experiment with some color, get fancied up for an occasion or go for a simple trim, if you have Renee as your stylist you won't leave dissapointed.

I recently got a haircut from Ashley W. I found her very soft and sweet. She listened to me carefully. The overall haircut was a very typical one that every new hairdresser has in mind for me as a default. However, I feel the overall experience was good. They let you use coupons , they have discounts for subsequent haircuts, bang cuts are free. Also the other hairdressers are not nosy where they gang up on you and praise you unnecessarily. The haircut was $50 and I think there was value in it overall. I will update my stars once I get to experiment more with haircuts with this salon.

Today was our first visit to this place and our last one! They did a terrible job on my daughter's hair styling it for her prom. it was obvious they rushed doing it. The prices also don't match the ones posted on the website. BUT The worse part of this experience was the front desk people. EXTREMELY RUDE. Not even asking an upset client "it was anything wrong? or let us try to fix it" nothing, just a demanding rudeness attitude telling me "it's $50! how are you going to tip? on cash??" loud and UNPROFESSIONAL as I never felt this bad before in a hair or nail saloon. to get even worse, one of these women yelled on a very sarcastic tone: "have a nice day, and have a nice prom" totally insincere and more rudeness like I never seen before. Both of these women shouldn't work in a retail salon business. what a nasty experience for a young girl on her prom day. Terrible, terrible, stay away!

Ashley Romanowski asked me to come in for an appointment at 3:30pm on a Thursday. She ends up canceling 20 minutes before I am suppose to be there (I had to drive 45 minutes there and was already minutes from the salon) She said the desk person didn't schedule her current client enough time and would have to push back til 4pm. Minutes later cancelling the entire appointment making a complete waste of my day. Now completely unresponsive to messages via Facebook or cell phone. Never in my life. Not professional at all and complete waste of my time! Not the first so I've heard either!

For years, I've had simple color treatments with summer highlights. But recently I went to Twisted Scissors, asking about something different. The stylist Sandee patiently listened to my concerns and suggested a balayage as change-of-pace treatment. I LOVE the natural highlights look, perfect for the beach! My husband noticed the change immediately and oooh and aaah'd. It was my first time at Twisted. Sandee was conscientious and friendly and made me feel welcome.

I went to this hair salon because we just moved into the area and it was closeby and well-rated. I have gone to slightly more upscale salons before, but due to the good reviews I thought it couldn't go so wrong. I only needed a hair cut and my hair is not difficult to work with at all. I also had long hair, so I was ok with losing two inches for a good cut. Coming in, I was asked to fill out some paperwork for new customers regarding my personal style, my preferences and so on. I thought that was a good idea. However, my stylist Ashley R. simply took the paper afterwards, set it aside and didn't even look at it once. What did I even do that for then? I wasn't offered anything to drink and I didn't see anyone else in there having even a glass of water. Even for a salon in the mid price range I think it would be nice to offer customers some water... The floors were dirty so Ashley simply put my jacket on the couch next to her station, where customers were sitting. Not very safe in my opinion... We discussed my hair cut and agreed on cutting off two inches. I then had to wait for a little while because there was no free shampoo station. In the end, my hair was too short (I lost more than two inches) and the layering was too long. For some reason, she kept asking me if the hair was "short enough", even though I never demanded shorter hair and only wanted to make sure everything looks clean again... I don't think she was very focused or maybe she didn't understand me right (then I think it would have been appropriate to double check). I knew there was no way I would get my length back, but I asked Ashley if she could please fix the layering WITHOUT cutting more off the main length. Well, I watched her do it and she simply cut EVERYTHING shorter, including the bottom layer. I decided not to ask for anything else because I didn't want to lose any more length. My top layer is still too long for my taste and it is also not cut as well as I am used to. When I got home, I also noticed that some of the tips were unevenly cut. I'm very unhappy with the salon, the level of service (come on, offer your customers a glass of water, especially when they come in pregnant in their last trimester!) and the hair cut I have received. And for that, I personally don't think that $45 are that cheap. I won't be returning as a customer.

Absolute 5 star experience. I drove an hour with my wife and daughter for her to get her haircut...... Boring!! Wrong.... They gave me a beer and allowed my daughter to learn a few things on one of the student hair mannequins. My wife had her haircut by Sonjia and multiple occasions its been flawless. She won't go to anyone else even after moving an hour away. So... I ended up getting my haircut by Emre. I felt like I went in a rugged homeless man and walked out Brad Pitt in his prime. Wow. The guy cut and styled my hair better than anyone I can remember. Please give them a shot. So after it all I expected to pay for this superior experience. I was shocked to receive such a reasonable bill. The entire experience was surreal and changed my opinion on a Salon.

I moved here one year ago and was referred to Meredith, and she is the still the only one I will see for my hair. She is so smart and talented. So thankful for Ashley Romanowski!! Ashley took on a challenge when I came in! Lol! I was coloring my own hair dark brown almost black and wanted to go blonde. I knew it would be a process, but Ashley Romanowski was up to the challenge. Every step of the way from cut to color my hair looked gorgeous. She also kept the integrity of my hair and it always stayed and looked healthy. Then after a while I needed a change and wanted to go a bit shorter and add red. Again, beautiful hair for me!! A visit with Ashley always starts with a smile and sometimes on those early appointments Starbucks! She is very attentive to her clients needs whether it be a drink, magazine, etc. She is easy to talk to and and eager to please her clients. She is passionate about her craft and always makes sure her clients are happy. I have had the pleasure of having Ashley Romanowski as my hairdresser for over a year and couldn't be happier. I think her work speaks for itself as I have had at least 6 friends and family members leave their hairdresser and come to Ashley.

My first experience here was great (I don't recall the stylist), but my second experience with Hanna was horrible. I wanted highlights and a cut (again) and the highlights were so bad (and looked like I'd already had over 4 weeks of growth) that I went back within the week to have it fixed. Hanna still didn't food the problem and I'm left with a big obvious chunk of dark near the front. I've done home highlights better than this. When I called for the "repair" the staff wasn't even apologetic. The cut wasn't even good and now I have too many bangs.

From the receptionist to walking out the door I was completely satisfied. I decided to take a picture in for exactly what I wanted. Meredith took her time and played around with my hair showing me and always asking me if this is what I had in mind. All her questions certainly made me feel comfortable in her knowledge of hair styling. Until now, I have been jumping from hair dresser to hair dresser to find someone that not only took the time with me, but had the experience in giving me that perfect cut. 3 weeks ago my sister and I had consultation for color and cut, yesterday was our appointment we were excited. I got dissatisfied with shampoo then hair color, color was not two toned, same all over, barely see any difference, then the haircut, had to say stop, nothing like I wanted, my stylists had to get help, someone else had to cut my hair which made it shorter, but it was alright, hair will grow, had to redo my color, still was not 2 toned. 10:00 to 1:30 doing my hair, my sister had apt. At 12:00 with same stylist needless to say she changed her mind. I did hair many years ago, I've never seen a stylist station that had no tools to the trade, only a comb dryer and scissors. She admitted she needs to take a class on razor cuts, don't schools teach it all? The lady that gave me a haircut was good, salon is great as the personal.

I am new to the area, and was searching for a hair salon to perm and color my hair. I chose the Twisted Scizzors Salon -because unlike many hair salons- they actually advertised perms. Since perming hair is not necessarily in vogue as of current, it can be difficult to find a stylist who is well-versed in the craft of perming hair. I called the Twisted Scizzors salon ahead of time to schedule the hair appointment, and the receptionist I spoke to over the phone was professional and friendly. The receptionist mentioned that the hair salon is in a strip mall, next to Harris Teeter (which I later discovered was an important detail, as the hair salon is a bit small + hidden). When I arrived, the employees at Twisted Scizzors salon were welcoming, and the salon had a funky, fresh, artsy vibe inside (with artwork done by the owner, as well as a local artist). Upon meeting my hair stylist, she was talkative and cordial during the beginning session of my hair appointment. I had brought two images along with me, to depict the desired hair style and perm. After my hair had been set in perm rods, perming lotion applied, and hair rinsed out, things began to trickle down hill. At some point during the process, she soaked the back of my shirt. Upon returning to the styling chair, my hair was almost pin straight. The stylist kept frantically scrunching my hair, and adding more and more styling products, telling me I would have to scrunch it and use a curling iron. I finally spoke up and calmly mentioned, "I requested a curly perm, not waves, is there anything we can do about this?". After becoming incredibly defensive, the stylist asserted that if she permed my hair again today, all my hair would fall out. After hearing this phrase repeated several more times, I finally replied, "I'm not requesting you perm my hair again today, I am asking if there is anything we can do about the fact that I asked for curls, and these are clearly waves". She continued to be defensive, rude, and unprofessional, tossing around statements, and asserting that maybe we just had different definitions of what "curly" was. She did not acknowledge her error, or offer to fix it, and I had to ask her about the company's policy when a customer was dissatisfied with their resulting hair style. I was eventually offered a 20% discount for the "inconvenience" (which was 3 hours of my day - - & no perm). I am highly disappointed and unsatisfied with the fact that I paid quite a sum of money for a perm, and did not receive this service. I was never given a business card, and no one has contacted me since my experience with the failed perm at Twisted Scizzors. UPDATE: I was promptly contacted by a manager at Twisted Scizzors Salon after posting my review on Yelp, among other review websites. The manager was very professional, cordial, and was sincerely apologetic for my poor experience with Twisted Scizzors Salon. She mentioned that proper protocol was not followed in the handling of my situation, and that they would be using my feedback as a learning tool to grow and improve as a business. I was offered a full reimbursement of funds, as well as a personal offer by the manager herself to give me the perm I had requested, free of charge. I am highly satisfied and impressed with managements professional and expedient response to my concerns, and feel the situation has been fully rectified. I have updated my rating and review to reflect these changes as well as further interactions with Twisted Scizzors Salon.

The hair dresser was friendly and atmosphere was nice but overall for the cost I didn’t feel like I got the level of haircut or color/style that I wanted. I came here to get my hair cut today, and I am impressed! My mom and grandmother have had their hair styled here before for a special event, but this was the first time I entered the business personally. They had me fill out a survey about my lifestyle and fashion preferences while I waited, and when Ashley W. called me back, I showed her a few pictures of what I was thinking and she got right to work! I got around 6-7 inches off, and it looks exactly how I expected. The price is a little higher than I would prefer to pay (just under $50 after tip for a shampoo, cut, and blow-dry), but I have paid more for lesser quality cuts. I will definitely be coming back!

I visited this salon a few months ago and had Sarena cut and color my hair. While the color turned out fine, I was not impressed by the cut itself at all. The hair stylist did not even show me the back of my hair before I left so it wasn't until I got home and checked it out that I noticed that the cut was not straight at all in the back. I was very upset and called to complain and they offered to fix it, but acted like it was an inconvenience for them. When I returned to have it fixed, the stylist had a snarky attitude and I felt like her apology was very insincere. For paying as much as I did for these services, I expect for them to be done correctly and I was very upset that they were not. In addition, I did not like the atmosphere here because I felt like it was very unprofessional (the hair stylists were busy fixing each other's hair and joking around the whole time while I was being ignored). I was expecting great things based off of the reviews I found online, but I had a very different experience and will not be returning to this salon.

But one of the worst hair cuts I’ve ever had I asked for bangs and they look so bad I cried when I got home I didn’t want to hurt her feelings as she was doing my hair I was trying not to look as how bad it was. She left color all over my forehead so even when I try to hid my bangs I have color all over my head I tried to get most of it off can’t really go work with black hair so my color looks good what have been better if my bangs didn’t look so bad and I didn’t have color all over my head

This salon is rated #1 in Western Wake County for very good reasons. The stylists are exceptional, and the management and owners are friendly, honest, welcoming, and highly trained, skilled professionals. No stylist is a miracle worker -and I read these reviews and thought, wow, some people have very unreasonable expectations of what they think should be accomplished. The owner walks the walk in giving back to the community, and works 100% at making sure each customer is satisfied. If an unsatisfied customer is posting here, it is because he or she either did not reach out to the owner (who WILL make it right) or is posting out of spite to get something for free. If you are thinking about making Twisted Scizzors your salon, I'd do it without hesitation. These folks are the real deal.

Absolutely disappointing, a rip-off, and zero customer service. New to town, wanted a hair cut for a new job. Went to Twisted Scizzors bc it was voted Best of Western Wake (Idk why). When I called, Amber, I believe, was not friendly at all. I should have taken her attitude and unfriendliness, almost seeming perturbed at me calling on a Monday afternoon, as a clue I should have run far away but went to my appointment anyway. There was no one there. Again, Amber hardly looked up to check me in, asked for the 3rd time if I'd been there before and then immediately went back to talking to someone else. The color was so toxic my eyes were watering and it made me sick at which my stylist said I'd "get used to" in 10 minutes. Awesome. Been getting my hair done for 15 years and never had that happen. I said I didn't want any drastic change to my hair color, just warm it up some, and take off 4-5 inches yet she put bright highlights and brought my color up with toner so much I went from auburn to dirty blonde and took off closer to 8 inches, just kept cutting and cutting. They didn't have their prices online or visible in store, and I found at checkout it was $90 for partial highlights PLUS $45 for the cut and style which their website said was $30 on Mon/Tues but Amber being terrible at customer service again wasn't going to mention until I asked, even as a new client. Sophia was nice but didn't try to understand what I wanted, rushed to get started, and when I trusted that she understood, I was incredibly disappointed, getting a Mom cut as a 20-something. This place is a joke, and I will never be back.

Worst experience at a salon in my 41 years.New to the area,came across this salon in the Cary magazine ..voted best salon,so I thought perfect well that wasn't the case for me.I made an appt. with the owner Amanda #10 stylist.I was getting my roots dyed and low lights put in.Amanda applied the dye put me under the dryer..then a man(Tony) came over and said its time to wash.Tony washed my hair,Amanda came out with her eyes red..I thought this was about her dog being sick because we spoke about her dog not doing well.I told her I too had just had to put my dog down not long ago while she dyed my hair.So when I saw her I wasn't sure if by me saying this made her cry..wasn't sure what was going on but I felt awful.Tony then said to sit in his chair..Amanda never said anything to me.Tony a #2 stylist cut my hair.Which I wasn't even asked if this was ok nor told that this was happening just come sit in my chair, but Tony did a fine job.Went to check out, I bought six hair products.I mentioned the 20% off for first time clients which they new about also when I booked...saw this in the Cary Magazine article..I used $180 in cash then $123 in credit.They swiped my card,told me it didn't go through,swiped it again then said we don't think it went through..will call you.I closed on my house the next day.The day after Stacy called and said we never charged your card, so I went back in and they swiped my card again.Then the next day I went through my purse and saw the receipt..realized they didn't give me 20% off my hair only my hair products.I called Stacy said I'm sorry I'll refund your card $40 something dollars.Then I noticed I was charged for a condition treatment which I've had in the past and I usually sat at the wash sink for 10 min.This never happened because Tony only washed my hair.Called the salon and they told me it was in my hair dye..ok I never heard of this,$20 charge.Well my American Express bill came in and didn't think much about how high it was being we had been spending a lot due to moving in our new home.My husband ended up going over it one day and called me to say the salon charge me 3 times.I called them, Megan answered said I'll have to bring in my statement to prove it but come next week because everyone is out of the office for a hair show.Ok, then the day before Im suppose to come in, Megan calls me to say don't bother coming in you have to dispute the charges with your credit card company..now I'm beyond mad..this is on my statement with your companies name and phone number..my sister had just passed away at the age 43 and I just moved into my home and all I wanted to do was get my haircut..I told them to cancel my appt.in April because I can never go back..ever!Twisted Scissors might do great charity work but they don't treat clients with the same respect at least not to me.I spent a good amount of money $323 and even $246 more that I was over charged =$569 plus tip. Now I'm still waiting for the charges to be disputed.If you go.. pay cash and make sure your charged correctly.Good luck!

Love the new location, it looks beautiful! However, I do wish they told you on the phone that they changed locations so you don't accidentally go to the old spot. Also, I got a haircut from Stephanie and it was extremely average. There was nothing different or special about the way it was cut and it felt really rushed. I asked for long layers and she finished the cut really fast and asked if I was okay with it. There were barely any layers and I felt bad asking but I politely asked her to put in some more. She tried to fix it a little but it did not make much of a difference. It definitely was not worth $50 plus tip. I used to come here because I would get really good cuts that the hair dressers would put time and effort into and were definitely worth the price. But if I can get this same cut at some average chain then coming here is not worth it.

So impressed with Linsey as a stylist and manager of the salon! I had visited the salon at the end of June and was not happy with the results of my highlights with a different colorist. I came in to get a basic hair cut. I have straight long hair so it's easy to cut and I can go just about anywhere. I picked this place because the website said a Womens haircut includes a scalp massage along with the shampoo/conditioner and blowout etc. I was very disappointed not to get the scalp massage. When I asked the receptionist if they stopped doing them, she was confused and said she didn't realize they were part of the haircut service. She looked up the website and saw it listed and gave me a 10% discount. It was nice of her. However, I wouldn't go back because without the scalp massage, this place doesn't really stand out from all the others that charge similar prices.
