This place is great. I recommend it to every guy out there. Genuine ladies. Krystal did a fantastic job. She was very friendly, held a nice conversation the entire time, and all around gave a great experience and made me want to come back. The place is wonderful. I didn't wait at all on a Tuesday at 8:00 at night. They have booths sectioned off so you feel alone and they have TV's in each booth! Loved that. A wonderful hair cut followed by a nice hot towel on the face, shampoo, condition, and an added shoulder massage with a neat little instrument. Overall if I could rate it better, I would.

Always a good general experience here. I've had a couple of sub-par haircuts, but I think that's always possible when there are different stylists cutting your hair every time. My advice is to find a stylist that does a good job for you, and then call ahead to request that stylist. The peanuts are a great touch as well.

Bess is my “Go To” stylist. Absolutely the best I’ve ever had; have to keep following her because she has rotated several times between Durham, Morrisville and now...Raleigh, guys place salons. Ok no problem...so I’ve reset google maps to the guys place on creedmoor road in Raleigh so I can continue to get the absolute best styling ever !

idiot stylist couldn't understand the difference between a number 1 guard and the 1 in" length i requested for my beard trim. i was a loyal customer, but when she realized what she had done when I had the look of horror at my beard missing from my face and said "don't worry, I won't charge you for that," I was finished going there. Great place for a quick cut! Jenna has been cutting my hair for almost 3 years now and let me tell you she's fantastic. AMAZING shampoo. Very poor customer service. Management and stylists are very unprofessional. First of all, you could have asked your staff about what happened, if you really care. If you look up my name in your system you will know. For two times in a row today and about 3 weeks ago, I call and make an appointment with the same stylist that cut my hair last time and they schedule me with someone else. They don’t even apologize, or inform the client that a mistake happened. It is obvious that this is done regularly and intentionally. When complained that this is the second time to happen. I was told we can reschedule you but no appointments are available today with your stylist ( in a very rude and unprofessional manner).

I had a 3pm appointment. I showed up at 2:30, hoping to get in and out a bit early. I was told when I walked in at 2:30 that it wouldn't be more than 10 minutes. I'm sitting here and it's 3:10 and I still haven't been called. Meanwhile, multiple walk-ins have been called plus 2 other guys that also had 3pm appointments. Customer service stinks

Made my husband an appointment for 2:20PM on Sunday after good reviews from friends who visit the Raleigh location. He walked in at 2:26PM and was told his appointment was cancelled due to being late. They referenced a “5 minute late policy” which is not noted on their website nor were we informed of this over the phone. Beware when scheduling appointments here. ***Editing to respond to the owner: Thank you for your timely response. I have now navigated your website to find the hyperlink required to click on to read your policy - which still does not reference a "5 minute late policy". It is a shame that customers arriving 6 minutes late our turned away for service especially for an initial appointment. Your appointment policy states, "We will do our best to accommodate you by placing you into the walk in wait list, reschedule your appointment, or call our other local shops to see if they would be able to see you right away" - none of which was done by your staff. You don't have to worry about us utilizing your services in the future. My husband was able to get a job another barber in town and was highly satisfied with the service.

The appointment at this store is a completely joke. I made an appointment a day before, and the second day I arrived at the salon right on time, they made me wait for 40 minutes. What’s ridiculous is that during the time I was waiting, they have at least two stylist sitting around having nothing to do. Weird right? So I asked the receptionist why I’m I still waiting, and I didn’t ask for a specific stylist at all for my appointment. Her answer was even though I didn’t pick a stylist, they still assign me to one, and that stylist is currently servicing the customer before me, and it went too long. I was like how about one of the other stylists that are sitting around? She said they have appointment, and their customer haven showed up yet. You know what’s more ridiculous? The receptionist told me, next time when I make an appointment, I have to specifically tell them that I need a buffer. So they can leave some time before the previous appointment. Excuse me, are you serious? Who the EFF know that I have to tell them to be on time for my service? What’s the point of making an appointment then? You waisted 40 minutes of my time waiting there like an idiot. Their stupid appointment system is a completely joke!!! When it’s finally my turn, the dude didn’t even apologize or saying anything but did a really bad haircut. I didn’t say anything, and I paid the tip that I supposed to pay. I used to go there all the time, and this was the second time they messed up my appointment. So after this time, I’m not going back there anymore. Also, I will tell this awful experience to everybody I know. Really awful experience. Really awful business.

Awful place. To be avoided. For no good reason except proximity I kept going back to this place and have never once been happy with a haircut there. They also have a ridiculously strict 5 minute cancellation policy which I’ve missed by one minute once. Great Clips just down the road is average but better than this place and cheaper

I hated my haircut experience, the stylist was rude to me, made me feel very rushed, she did not listen to me nor my opinions, she splashed water all over my face, I asked her if my hair was even she said "I know what I'm doing, it's even". I went back in 5 mins later for her to fix my hair, but she said to me to wait for more than 30 mins so I eventually walked out. I am beyond pissed. She did a terrible job, I had to recut my hair when i got home. I do not want to get haircut from her ever again. She was the African American woman in the purple shirt. Yes, asked questions on how I wanted it cut. Yes, agreed the length to cut off. Yes agreed not to buzz the sides. However, don't believe the hype for a second. It all depends on who you get and whether that person will provide the hair cut you request or just do what they want. We agreed on 1/2" off of the length I came in with. She then cut about an inch off of the top, then before I knew what she was doing, she quickly cut 2 inches off one side even though the top was too short. Because.... "I had to, to make it shorter than the top". I think she only knows one hair cut!! beware

I love getting my hair cut here. Rosie is my favorite and she is always consistent in the way she has cut my hair for the last year. Nancy has also been awesome when Rosie isn't available. My favorite part is the hot towel and the shoulder massage after the hair cut. It makes my day wonderful and I think they undercharge at $17-$18 for a mens haircut.

This place is amazing! You walk in, sit down almost immediately, they hand you a remote for your very own tv, and that's just the start. Staff is very friendly and talented (I recommend Jenna), and they are attentive to detail. For 11 bucks (plus a good tip), I was able to get a great haircut, wash, eyebrow/facial hair trim, plus a shoulder massage! You can't beat a deal like that! This is a great business that I know I will be supporting in the future.

Probably one of the worst customer service experiences you will come across. I called at 1pm and asked if they had time for a walk in or if I should just make an appointment and was told there was plenty of time and no need to make an appointment. I got there and waited almost 45 min to an hour. I had customers apologizing to me because they notice the bad customer service I got. I even noticed the staff looking at me like oh boy I hope this guy does not get angry and say something. While I was getting my hair cut the person doing it literally got up and left to answer the phone 3 times during the process. It would have been fine until she didn't realize she cut my sides uneven. I was so pissed off I didn't even get the shampoo and just paid and left. Not worth paying the money to get treated by the staff so terribly with angry attitudes. I even told the woman " hey can you not take out your frustration on my hair". What I complete joke this place was literally no pride in the work they do. MORE MONEY for less customer service they hold true to that!.

I just moved down from vermont. I've been looking to get a hair cut somewhere. I went to sport clips. had to wait for ever and decided to leave. On sunday 6/14 I went to the guys place and got a really nice fade from Constance. Really friendly! But I do have to say the manager or the owner discriminates on UNC. There is nothing but blue devils stickers everywhere. I hope the next time I go back there is some UNC stuff there!!!

The downside, to me, is that whenever I find a good stylist that I trust, they leave. So as long as you're not picky about who you see, this place is really good for the $.

The Guys Place is a step up from your typical $10 haircut but I still can't seem to get a good haircut and when I do the stylist/barber is no longer with the company or off of work. For the money it is a great place to go, comfortable seating area and TV's at your haircut station. The only draw back is the consistency in service quality.

Just got probably the worst haircut I've ever gotten. The hairstylist was Rosy and I will not be getting my haircut here again. Sitting in their parking lot trying to decide whether I'm pissed enough to risk trying to get one of them to try and fix it, or to chalk it up as a loss. Update: Went back in and Scott did an incredible job to fix it at no charge. Changed from one to four stars - would've like to have not had the hassle, but glad they took care of it so well.

I have stopped and tried to get my hair cut a couple times in the past month between 5--6 p.m. There is always 3-4 employess sprawled out in the waiting area out front and they say it's a 1hr wait. I will go eat at matti b's and same employess sitting in waiting area when I walk back by window. I understand people take lunch and breaks,but do you schedule them all during prime business hours???

The manager is great and I never have to wait. I have been going to this store for many years without any problems. You can make an appointment or walk in. If they have to cancel your appointment for any reason, the store will inform you days prior to your appointment and you can reschedule. I give this store 5 stars.

I had looked this place up on google and seen some good reviews recently so i thought i would try it out. Unfortunately these reviews are misleading. Going further back on the reviews everything is more accurate. Receptionist was short and rude. Stylist, who i believe was the manager was short with me. Over heard her cussing at the desk when i didn't hear her instructions to go to her station. Every other time I've gotten my hair cut elsewhere the stylist always greeted me so this caught me off guard. She didn't talk the entire time and my shampoo was all of 30 seconds. If this is how the management acts, i can only imagine how the rest of the store acts. Edit: After putting up this review the owner did not try to apologize, did not even try to solve the problem but instead called me a competitor and moved along. This is a horrible way to run a business! Also you do it publicly on google! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE

How do I put half a star ??... didn’t notice how bad my hair cut turned out, regular cut with a neck shave $20 bucks cash and left a $5 tip. Turn out to be the worse haircut I ever got. The same day I took my son to cookie cutters and they did a way better job & his 2 years old I can’t believe how they lady cuts hair for a living!! My first experience was good not nearly as bad, but for the price I expect better. Never going back to this place.

Dirty dusty booths, associate did not try to get to know me the potentially new client. The lady who cut my hair didn't really care to cut it properly nor did she get to know me. The owner apparently ignores employees and or clients that bring up issues. They use old dirty rags that are supposed to be hot and moist to warm your face with but are just hot dry towels with no moisture so the benefit of the hot towel is pointless. Store could use updating and or a remodel and the owners probably have been told by the employees about it and they refuse to fix anything. The location is a joke if you ask me. Full Services they so called provide you are not worth the price. I was looking to also spend more then just on the hair cut and of course the lady was rude and did not want to sell me those services. The employees lack customer service skills and are bitter. I would be too if the owner didn't make sure the store was clean and up to date.... This location I would highly not recommend for those guys looking to get a hair cut and other services. You can go to far better places and spend the same exact money and get what you pay for! A Guys Place is a place to go if you want a really bad hair cut and style.... I am not the first to complain or write such a review but the lack of ownership by the owners is ridiculous.... They think they have nothing to worry about and wonder why business will eventually decline. They refuse to listen to customers and they refuse to listen to employees. The store is in dire need of a remodel and the owners are too cheap to invest in their employees and business.... When I was taken to the booth the first thing I noticed is how dirty the place was.... all the mirrors in the place were dirty and every stall had dust everywhere. You can't expect to be in business when you can't even keep the place clean and then that brings up the issue of sanitation of equipment they are using. If the booths are dirty then so is their equipment. Guys please stay away from this place..... The owners also live in their own little world where they ignore any problems that arise at the location and refuse to do anything about it.

I have gone to John twice for my haircut- and it is quick, effficient, and perfect. They have a strict policy about being 5+ minutes late to be aware of, but when I was 6-7 minutes late John was kind about it. I also went in once for a free "neck trim" between haircuts which was quick and also perfect! The staff is kind and I would definitely recommend coming here.

If you're looking for those high dollar, salon experiences that take all afternoon, this isn't the place. Showed up 6-7 minutes late and was told that they have a 5 minute late policy, which is never mentioned anywhere on their website or over the phone when appointment is made, simply that they "reserve the right to skip your appointment". The next spot was apparently an hour later. Had I known, I would not have had to waste the time to drive there knowing I would be about 5 minutes late. Maybe they think they're an airline and should overbook their spots? I have had previous haircuts there that were definitely rushed since they only reserve 20 minute or so blocks for the haircut, wash and "massage", but I did not realize their scheduling is always so backed up.

Be forewarned: if you are 5 minutes late, they will give your appointment away. They did not tell me this policy on the phone when I made an appointment for my kids. We drove 35 minutes, hit a traffic jam, and arrived 7 minutes late only to be told, sorry, no more appointments and sent away. Super frustrating.

Worst barber I ever been to. I've been there once and the person didn't know how to do a fade or shape up. It looked like I did it myself. I walked out with patches and no shape up. I won't be going back. I tried to say something be the barber said there's nothing they can do because it's the way my hair grows.

I had a 6 pm appt. I walked in the door at 6:04. There was one person in front of me at the desk paying and talking about products. By the time I got to the counter it was 6:06. I was informed I was more than 5 min late. I said I was waiting to check in. I was told it did not matter when I walked in the door, it matters when I get checked in. I will not come back. I also asked if my stylist that I requested was cutting hair now...no. Then I asked if she had an appt after my time...no. So I am being penalized for being polite and not pushing my way past the customer in front of me. I won’t be back.

I originally came here because it is close to my work. Rosie has been my routine barber/stylist and she has been excellent. Prices are fair and I havent had a problem with missing an appointment as I try to show up 5-10min early. The reason I gave 3/5 stars is because of the front desk staff. I’m sure it rotates based on who is available, but after 4-5 total visits, I expect the front desk staff to act disinterested/ annoyed when I walk in. A simple greeting and a smile goes a long way, and as someone who works in service as well, it really bugs me when a front desk person acts like Im bothering them by just walking in the door. Its unfortunate for the kinder/nicer employees because their reputation gets affected by the employees whos attitude suggests they really dont want to be here. Overall i like the spot, but id recommend the manager have a team meeting about attitude and energy.

Best bargain in all of Durham. Eleven dollars would be cheap for a haircut anywhere, but then they throw in a shampoo and conditioner, and a shoulder massage! I paid four times that once for the same services. The staff is attentive and efficient; I was in and out in less than half an hour and I got one of the best haircuts I've had in a long time.

Thought I would try this place out today and walked in with no appointment and was graciously asked if I didn’t mind to wait for 1/2 hr for next available. Since I wasn’t in a hurry I waited in there spacious and relaxing chairs. To my surprise 15 min later Rosie called me back and gave me a great haircut! Will definitely come back again. Place was clean and well kept and all staff were very courteous and kind.

Just moved to the area within the past year and have been on the hunt for a good barbershop. I have been to this location twice in the past two months and service has been excellent. NOTE!!! PLEASE CALL AHEAD TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. They have a very busy shop and may not be able to fit you in if you do not schedule an appointment. Don't be the a**hat walk-in who comes in 15 mins before they close to get a haircut and expect to get one. You won't get one since they don't take appointments that close to closing. Service is excellent overall and they are very accommodating. I have recommended them to friends and co-workers as well and they love the service at this place.

Really used to like coming here, but the quality really seems to be declining. Don't come here if you're looking for an alternative to Super Cuts or Greatclips. They have seemed to adopted the strategy of every cut taking less than 30 minutes. Doesn't matter what you ask for, you will leave with some variation of a crew cut. If they can't do the cut with JUST clippers you can tell they dont know what they're doing. The biggest insult is how they charge premium prices, but the service couldn't be more basic. If your wanting something premium, go somewhere else. If you want something cheap, go to super Cuts/sports clips etc. This is the same thing just pricier

Called and made an Apt for 1:30 driving in from VA. Granted I was late due to traffic but got there at 1:34 and was behind a lady at the register. When she finished told the girl my name. She stated they had a 5 min late policy and I had to be rescheduled because it was now 1:36. I said no thanks and went somewhere else. This place has completely lost my business due to poor customer service. I won’t be back.

My first time here and not my worst haircut, But the attitude of my hairdresser turned me off.. Was 10 min late and i would have rescheduled if they wanted me too. I was told by this guy that he will try to complete fast and i am sure nobody would like to listen that before a haircut. Didnt try to listen properly how i wanted my hair and no inputs from him whatsoever. I prefer scissor cut because i like it uneven from sides to which he didnt listen. Finally, i ws given a shampoo wash and done..no hair condition or massage. Massage is something i read at counter while paying, to which he said he can provide that now. I was really done by then and i have to live with this haircut for a month, not coming again.. To owner: i scheduled for 1:30 today

I just moved to Durham from Orlando. I got my hair cut at a different place and they had no idea what they were doing. I had uneven sideburns and hair all over my face when I left. Found the Barbershop on google and it sounded similar to a lot of the places I frequented in Orlando before I moved. Came in without an appointment on Saturday and was in a chair within 10 minutes. I told Jenna how I wanted it cut and she knew exactly what I wanted. Fantastic service and I couldn't be happier with my haircut. I will be coming to the barbershop every few weeks to keep it nice and tidy. The shop also uses American Crew products which I've found to be fantastic. I couldn't ask for anything else from this shop, the price is ridiculously cheap, I'd easily pay more for the haircut I got.

Great place to get your haircut. I have been twice and have not been disappointed. Its around $15 for a haircut, shampoo, hot towel, and quick shoulder massage. Very relaxed atmosphere. Update: It is impossible to walk in now. You have to have an appointment. Which is ridiculous for a Mens Haircut place. Also their prices went up.

Twice I have had my appointments cancelled due to showing up 6 minutes late, and yet other occasions have waited 15 to 20 minutes past my appointment time before getting a cut. Good haircuts if you can get in, but lack of consistency with appointments is a time waster. I won't be back.

Been back a few time's and honestly I have a mixed feeling. Went back and was a walk in and did not mind waiting for the recommended stylist. Then was told I would be getting another stylist, one I'd already had and was not impressed with her abilities. There was really no way to say no though. I have had good stylists here but they all seem to leave which makes me wonder about the establishment. I will not be returning. They have a great environment and are fast and very nice, however I can't keep trying to find new stylist everytime i want to get a haircut.

Don't usually leave many reviews but I figured I would here bc I have a great experience when I go. I've never been "rushed" through a haircut no matter how busy it was, the stylist have always taken the time to make sure I was happy. I've also never had to wait longer than I'm told the wait time is. I'm usually VERY pickey about who does my hair and after a year or so I haven't had a bad cut from ANY of the stylists there. I guess it's why I drive past 10s of other hair style establishments on my 40 min drive to their closest location to me. Actually calling now to schedule today's cut now. Also "The Guys Place" has no issues with scheduling my teenage daughters hair as she is very happy with the service she receives there as well.

Horrible owners! Refuse to pay overtime earned. Even yelled at the management for the OWNERS NOT PAYING THEIR BILLS! The phones and internet have been cut of previously because they didn't pay the bill. Management consistently complains they don't want to be there and have gone far enough to put fake appointments on the book. You will get written up if you inforce policies. If you're a receptionist don't expect to get tipped by the stylist even though they are supposed to for cleaning up after them, this was a constant issue. Catty employees. The towels they put on your face are being washed in a washer with mold in it just fyi. Unfortunately I don't recommend this place for employement or customers. I could keep going on and on. Over all horrible place.

I have been coming to The Guys Place for 4 years now, and have nothing but good things to say. I always show up to my appointments on time (or a little early), and have never waited more than 10 minutes. Most of the time, I am in the chair within a couple of minutes. For the first year or two, I generally called early in the morning and took any appointment available in the afternoon that day. I've had probably 10-12 different stylists, and have never had a bad haircut. ALL have been BETTER than ANY Great Clips or Super Cuts experience (and I had a lot of those in a former life). Obviously there is some variation, but I can admittedly say, I'm not very consistent with describing how I want my hair to look lol. Some of the stylists are a little more conversational than others, but all have been very friendly and professional. About 6 months ago, I had my first haircut with Candise, and I was extremely pleased. She managed to take my "jumble of words," and sculpt it into a masterpiece. My fiance was equally impressed, so I have requested Candise ever since. I get my hair cut about every 4 weeks, and I love catching up with Candise on what's happened since the last appointment. I will say, I think it is a tendency of stylists at some shops (NOT The Guys Place) to get so caught up in conversation that they lose track of what they're doing or do a sloppy job. But Candise is so METICULOUS!!! She takes her time and ensures that each hair is in place (sometimes literally going strand by strand, it seems). My wife and I were married on February 10th, 2019, and when it came time to get that all-important trim, it was a no-brainer. My appointment was on the 8th, and by the 10th, it had grown-out a bit so as to look natural and very sharp. In part, because of the great work that Candise did, we will cherish our wedding pictures for a lifetime. Thanks Candise and The Guys Place for your hard work and professionalism!

I made an appointment. I hit some slow traffic on the way and was 6 minutes late. I thought nothing of it. Went to the counter to let them know I was there and got a serious attitude from the receptionist. I was informed there was a 5 minute late policy and I had to wait longer. I was not informed of this when making the appointment and did not consider my tardiness that bad. That combined with the terrible attitude made me turn around and walk out. I cannot see ever using this place due to really lousy customer service.

Went to this place after a recommendation from a colleague, but had a really bad experience. Soon as I entered the receptionist didn't even care to smile and greet. The lady who cut my hair had no interest in listening to what I would like and just asked what size clippers should she use. She literally took 5mins to finish cutting the hair and another 3 mins to shampoo. All this was happening in eerie awkward silence. I couldn't wait to get out of there. Worst part, she got all the cut hair spilled on my pants. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

Since I have been traveling through the area quite a bit recently I needed to find a place that could fit me in with my hectic schedule. I arrived at 6:36 PM without an appointment and they had me out the door by 7:05 with a great haircut for an excellent price. Great atmosphere and quite a few small children and normal folks as well. Consistency is the issue, here, if you are one to just pop in for a haircut. Everyone is competent and friendly, but making an appointment is the way to go with someone you trust. Great for the whole family, and conversations are always enjoyable. Great place for men's hair products, as well. Marketing is a little masculine and feels like it's trying to be "cool," but at least it has some ethos.

Meleaha offers the best beard trims I've ever had. She's fast, accurate, great at shaping, and very reasonably priced. I'm bald so I can't offer a review on her haircuts, however. I'm sure she's great. :-)

I really like this place and for the price it can't be beat. Be forewarned however that if you make an appointment and you are over 5 minutes late they will move on to someone else and you will have to make a new appointment. I have heard plenty of people be upset with the staff because they are slightly late and they are not allowed to slide right in line while sometimes the hair stylists are 10 minutes late without repercussion. But that's business and their 5 minutes late policy is clearly stated.

This place offers solid haircuts. I've been going here for a few years. Appointments tend to fill up, though. You can usually get one if you call early. The process have gone up considerably, though. Used to be a cut for$12 and now it's over $17. Also, they charge extra for using a credit card. Seems odd for a chain business. They offer peanuts in the lobby and TVs while you get the cut, which is nice.
