Hello, I wanted to take some time to thank the folks at Povera for the recent service they provided me, my scalp and my hair. When I walk into Povera I feel like I am walking into a stylish salon that I've only seen in bigger cities like New York and San Francisco. The great customer service started when I was directed to the Povera website to book my appointment for a men's haircut. The process was seamless and the tools they provided on the site are fast and easy to use. So as you have probably figured out by now I am a guy. A lot of times when I stroll into a salon it smells like bad barn gas (perm smell) however Povera smelled like sweet lilies in full bloom. Team Povera has created an atmosphere that will keep me coming back until my hair stops growing. Great job, great haircut, great feeling scalp massage and friendly service. What else could a guy ask for when getting his hairs cut.

I am the girl that never gets her hair cut. I have had the worst experiences with hair salons so I just don't go. It is always one bad cut after another. I did go to a chain salon recently and had bangs cut. They were not the greatest and not at all what I asked for. So I did a lot of research. I pulled up every salon in a 25 mile radius. I read all the reviews and bios of the staff. When I found Salon Povera, I was very excited. Brittany's bio caught my attention, so I made the appointment. I picked out a few pictures of what I wanted and one of exactly what I didn't want. She listened to me and understood me completely. She told me step by step what she was doing as she did it and the reason why she was doing it. My hair came out perfect! At one point I had to close my eyes because I almost teared up because I had literally never had a good hair cut! Ok, once when I was twelve, but that was years ago. I actually felt pretty when I left there and wanted to go and tell the world that I finally found that perfect hairdresser that everyone else always seems to have. Well, I am actually glad I waited to write this review because that gave me the chance to share what happened next.... I had errands to run and was in the department store and this man was staring at me. He came up to me and told me that he had seen me earlier but didn't say anything but he did not want to pass up the opportunity to tell me that I was gorgeous! (he specifically mentioned the hair) I am telling you, this girl (Brittany) , is amazing! I will never go anywhere else!

Patrick makes the client feel extremely comfortable and relaxed. My wife and daughter both swear by Patrick and he gives them great reasons to do so. The work is exceptional, the atmosphere is soothing and they come back home happy. If I had hair, Patrick would cut it.

Brittany did a SPECTACULAR job on my hair and my Mom's hair. If I could give her more stars I would. After moving to the Triangle Area from Chicago, I have spent 5 years searching for a stylist and having several bad experiences at several different salons. Needless to say I was very nervous walking in, but the salon has a wonderfully relaxed and welcoming vibe, and all of the staff were incredibly friendly. Brittany did an excellent job listening to what we each wanted done to our hair, and was able to take the haircuts to the next level by really personalizing it and helping it work perfectly for each of our face shapes and styles. I have spent 5 years missing my stylists from Chicago - but no more. My hair was quite long and quite thick, and Brittany took her time to make sure it was exactly right. Brittany has a true talent for hair and it shines through in her fantastic work. She went above and beyond to make not only my Mom and myself feel welcome, but making my daughter (3 yr.) feel welcome. She is very shy and nervous and I am trying to get her comfortable with having her hair cut for the first time. Brittany made her feel so welcome and allowed her to stay by my side - which was a HUGE deal for her. She walked out of there with a big smile and talked about wanting to get her hair cut all the way until she went to bed that night. Brittany went above and beyond, and her haircuts were BRILLIANT. Great Job!! Even though the salon is about a 30 minute drive for us, it is more than worth it! We will all be back on a regular basis.

I go to Pam, and she is so awesome! My hair was all sorts of a mess on my first appointment. I had bleached my hair and then attempted to dye it purple. When we tried to remove the purple my hair turned green!! Pam was such a pro, and even as damaged as my hair was, was able to get it blonde in one more session- without damaging it even more! I'm so happy with the way my hair turned out! I can't imagine going anywhere else after seeing Pam!! :) I would so highly recommend this salon, even if you don't go to Pam! Every stylist I see working always has their clients leaving looking fabulous. You're absolutely in good hands as soon as you walk in the salon. (The first picture is my hair before Pam's magic, the second picture is after two back-to-back appointments of color remover and then bleach, and the third picture is the third appointment to remove the last remaining green.)

I have no idea why this salon has so many 5 star ratings. It is small, loud, not particularly clean, and rather expensive for the service provided. My hair cut was fine but nothing special. I would not recommend this salon.

Love my hair color and cut/style with Patrick! Today he worked magic with a blonde reverse ombre color to keep the lightness around my face with darker blonde ends. The salon is open, airy with friendly folks and easy to find. I also love the ammonia free color and feel like a million buck$!

I bought a Groupon for this salon without any previous experience with the stylists. Pamela cut my hair and did a great job! She listened to what style I wanted (I cut off 9" of hair for a donation) and did a great job with natural hand-painted, subtle highlights. I have gotten so many compliments on my new look! Great experience from start to finish, I would highly recommend this salon as well as Pamela, she was great!

She is very good at listening to exactly what you want and then advising you as to what will look good with your face shape and facial features. From someone that used to get their haircut for $14.00 max at GreatClips or whatever other cheap place there was I can say it's totally worth it to go to Patrick at Salon Povera. He makes it an "experience" as opposed to a cry session when you get back into your car to look at what they did/didn't do, like all the other places I had tried. Not sure what took me so long to use a legit salon but I wouldn't go anywhere else! I drive from North Raleigh and it's well worth it and I've never been disappointed!

He is truly a wizard with color! I love the way he always helps me set a goal and works in my life events and the seasons of the year as we plot my color and style. And it's taken me a whole year of Yelp-ing and Google-reviewing to find a stylist I felt comfortable leaving my stylist (and great friend) in Boston to try one in the Triangle. I found Patrick at Salon Povera and took the plunge. I was NOT disappointed. He took what I told him I wanted (which was very specific) and asked if he could add his own personal touch. It turned out EXACTLY how I wanted and MORE. I told him I wanted volume and I got a cut that gives VOLUME. I told him I wanted to transition from bright blonde and I got beautiful baby lights. I love it. And to top it off - I got one of the best blow outs I've ever had. I will be back in 8wks exactly for my touch up!

What a wonderful find!! Look how consistent and high the reviews are for Salon Povera! Yes, always a negative mugwort or two but wow this is a great place with excellent stylists! I chose PATRICK to recut my hair, but I feel strongly that the other stylists would have been great choices due to the other reviews. I loved that Patrick understood my finer hair and could see immediately where the last cut went wrong. As a hairdresser from a zillion years ago I could feel and see Patrick assess and reassess my locks as he went along. He is truly an artist and understands the mathematics of an exceptional cut. This place is near Southpoint Mall over ACROSS the street from the Kroger (which may be shut down soon?) and McD's-- Right next to the new Sprouts Grocery Market on Rt 54!! Salon Povera also offers online bookings via various sites where you can see prices for their offerings. Anyway, its been almost 15 years since I got a 'real' haircut (terribly too long hair) and I am glad that Patrick snipped my locks and ran his fingers thru my hair. THANK YOU, PATRICK. Gemina Hayes is a wonderful stylist. She is very knowledgeable about all hair types. I’m mixed so my hair has a lot of different textures and Gemina knows what products are best for my hair type. She uses products accordingly which I feel is very critical in getting the outcome that you desire.I had color for a while and she was very good at matching the same color each time I came in as well as maintaining the upkeeping of my hair. Everytime that I have visited her she has done wonders for my hair and the compliments pour in! Salon Provera has wonderful staff and they are all friendly so stop on in! Ask for Gemina !

I just got back from my first appointment and I had to write a review right away. I scheduled an appointment for a color correction and haircut. I got partial highlights at a salon in Virginia a couple months ago. I have naturally jet black hair and I went in for some subtle partial highlights that does not look drastic from my natural look. The lady went a little overboard with the bleach and put me under heat for more than 30 mins. After a few weeks, my hair started to look like it had tiger stripes on it. I got so many negative comments. I looked up salons close by in Durham and I am SO GLAD I came across Salon Povera. I mean what place has a 5 star review by more than 30 people these days? NONE. Especially in the salon industry, it is very difficult to have so many customers satisfied. Since it was my first time, I trusted what the previous reviewers had to say and went with Brittany. I have been to quite a few salons before but I can say with confidence that I am yet to come across a stylist that is as passionate and meticulous with hair color than her. She paid attention to every single detail I had to give her and knew what she was doing. I had my hair color restored back to my natural color and even though we were doing permanent color, she was honest about how this might also become a little light over time (due to the terrible bleach streaks underneath) but said it will not go back to what I initially walked in with. I know it is too much to say right after I got it done and you probably think I need to wait a few days to say this but I have enough experience to say how satisfied I am and will be with what she has done to my hair. Can't wait to go back for my next appointment in a few months! Convenient location (barely 5 mins from Southpoint mall), affordable prices (my overall color plus cut and blowdry cost me $140), and educated staff. This salon is a MUST visit if you're around Durham area.

It was my first time in and I had booked an appt online. I showed up (on-time) for my appt but the lady who I booked with already had a client doing color. I'm sure this usually isn't the case, but the lady waiting on her color was very eager to get going and gave me the death stare the entire time I was getting my hair cut and styled. Because of her impatient was I think it caused my stylist to rush through my appt. She cut my front layers shorter than I requested and didn't cut my back layers at all (so I still have some split ends throughout my hair). I just didn't feel like I had her focus and my hair paid for it. She didn't do a horrible job which is why I gave 3 stars and not 1 or 2. Also, the staff and atmosphere were wonderful. I might go back if I know ahead of time that a color isn't going to be waiting.

My daughter now lives in NYC where she has access to some of the best hair professionals in the world, but she always prefers to come home to "Patrick". Having moved from Europe and being used to a certain standard of hair care I was having great trouble find the right hairdresser, how lucky was I to have recently found Salon Povera. It's a small salon, but fresh and modern, with a very helpful and kind staff. I had booked online with one stylist, who was busy, so Pam was more than happy to take care of me right away. Pam did a fantastic job, especially since I was cutting off a lot of hair to donate to Locks of Love.
