I highly recommend BBH to anyone, I went there for a blowout and it was amazing, and for her to finish so fast it was VERY STRAIGHT coming from a full time natural person and later that day I went to formal and there was a lot of heat, my hair didn’t even puff up and it even had edge control on it, I was shocked it was the straightest my hair has ever been and don’t even get me started on their service, everyone is so nice and welcoming and they have a great taste of music it’s just wonderful, GO TO BLACK BARBIE❗️❗️

My silk pressed looked amazing, however I had to cut over 2 inches out because I had really bad heat damage. They also used little to none products when styling, the blowouts are cheap but you get what you pay for.

Hi I called in for a wash and two feed in braids on a Saturday after 1pm although they do stop taking appointments at 1pm because the shop closes at 3pm, they did allow me to come in after one o'clock which is a plus and the stylist Coco washed my hair which she did a good job doing that but what I didn't like is the rushed job she did on my braids. My braids are loose in the back and the hair is crinkly and not flat and smooth in the back. Coco wasn't really confident on exactly how to braid my hair. After she put me under the dryer to dry my braids she told me ok your hair is dry and didn't say do u want to look at which I thought was strange. Since I have had my hair braided similarly in this style before I didn't assume it would be tacky. I patronized the business because the owner and I attended the same high school. I am rating the experience a 3 and not a five because of the outcome of my hair. I may return to the shop but I will see another stylist at the shop instead.

Morgan braids my daughter’s hair and I’ve seen her do others....she has my baby lookin good EACH AND EVERY TIME!! Go Morgan!! There’s a darker skinned lady that’s kinda behind the register she’s grrreat! She hasn’t done our hair but she hooks up every Client that I’ve seen get in her chair, that’s who will be doin mine. I saw her weaves and cuts. The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is due to Their customer service; that definitely could be better. BUT, when I did take my concern up to the owner she gave me a free trim that wasn’t free due to them still charging me a required straightening comb/ flat iron or relaxer in order to Accurately trim my daughter’s hair. In our case it was flat Ironed since I don’t use chemicals or heat in her hair so I made an exception, but it was well worth it. I had The preferred designated person that trims everyone’s hair cutting my daughters hair. I don’t know her name but she did really really really good! We’re goin back.

I want to give them 5 stars but everytime I come here I end up having to wait. I take the time to make an appointment and arrive on time however they always end up putting someone in front of me. They do such an amazing job on my hair and it's sucks that they are so I different about their clients. I usually support black owned buisness but this was absolutely Horrible!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! Not for natural hair at all. $20 blowout sounds like a deal but they’ll try to over charge you for extra services and when you don’t get them they’ll do a crappy job on your hair. Your hair WILL NOT turn out how you want it to. I had to ASK for my hair to be protected from heat, and their shampoo strips your hair of natural oils. They didn’t even do edges or finishing touches. Just a rushed job w/ a side of attitude. Save your coin, time, and dignity.

Went today on Wednesday for one of their $20 blowout specials and I am so pleased with the result. I will definitely be coming back and bringing my daughter as well. Ashley was amazing and was gentle with my hair and I let her know that I was not tender headed. I started coming here in February 2019 and I honestly am happy I did. A friend put me on. Living in the Charlotte area, we have some of the most money hungry and inconsiderate stylists ever. That being said, I chose to commute for my do's. The first time, Brandi the owner did my hair and pretty much sealed the deal. She was great, DUH! After that, I sat in Sabrina's chair for sew in maintenance. She's also bomb. Then there was Coco...let's just say if I'm booking for another sew in, I hope she has openings. It's so nice I had to come and write a review about her lol. I LOVE IT! My scalp doesn't itch, she's quick, she is very knowledgable and talked to me the whole time. Most importantly: my hair is flat, and edges are laid. She did my hair in place of Brandi this time and I can honestly say, she reminded me why I'm comfortable with any stylist in this salon.

My 13 year old had an appointment yesterday for 2 simple double Dutch braids. The braids weren't started in the same spot on both sides of the head and weren't the same thickness going down her back. I was quoted a price of 45$ over the phone for 5 braids with hair added but they tried to charge me 50$ for 2 braids with hair added. Not happening! The work looked average like something you'd pay somebody random to do outta their house for 25$. Wanted to post a pic of her hair but she ran in the room and put a bandana on the front of her hair soon as she got home so no one could see the uneven sides of her hair, it did look cute then but she shouldn't have needed an accessory for that

There is a lot of hype surrounding Black Barbie but from my experience theirs stylists are lazy as far as the dedication they put into their work and the atmosphere comes off as a popularity contest rather than a business establishment focused on providing each customer with the joy of a great hairstyle. If you’re looking for fair prices but exceptional attention to detail on your hair I strongly suggest Pretty Palace over Black Barbie. Im saying this from a customer standpoint. This place does $20 blowouts. I walked in after I took my braids out. I had already washed, conditioned and blow dried my hair. I walked in because my son was getting his haircut next door. Just so I wouldn't have to flat iron my hair when I got home and I had to wait for him anyway, I said let me run over here see it they can flat iron my hair. Charged me $25 for a flat iron. I paid because I was being lazy. But that was crazy to me to charge 25 for a flat iron when they do blowouts for 20. I regreted it after. I thought about it, I coulda paid $10 more and got a wig I been looking at. A waste of $25. I pd 25 for something I do every week. If you don't listen to rap music, that's all you will hear in there, loud and the not edited version. I feel that's unprofessional. But they are in a college area so maybe they cater to the young, black, college population. I won't be going back, but hey whats my $25.

What I love the most is my daughter and I are able to get our hair done at a reasonable price ($57 before tip). Also I love that we are able to sit in anyones chair and our hair still comes out perfectly. We usually walk in so its reassuring that whatever stylist we get we can be confident in. 3 STRIKES YOU'RE OUT!!! I haven't been to a hair salon in over 20yrs. New to area so I Googled black hair salons so I could start the path to healthy hair. The reviews were good here so I gave a try. NOW I say thanks for reminding me why I stopped dealing with salons! Your hair DEFINITELY gets the attention but your time and money don't! My hair stylist was nice and my styles we're great but I had 8am appointments that she was 30+ minutes late for my 1st time there. Another 8am appt she was on a sew-in and got to me 2hrs later that I patiently waited. Today another 8am appt. She was 45mins late then sent me to a hair shop she KNEW wasn't open yet (but I didn't) just so she could start her next client. THIS IS SO WRONG AND BAD BUSINESS! The install is great so far but it didn't look anything like the picture I showed and the curls that were put in didn't even last 24 hrs and for what I paid I did not expected to have to curl my on hair for 2hrs the next day just to get some kind of style I guess my first sew in wasn't what I thought it would be I will be thinking twice before I pay that amount for another one!!!
