Mari is the bees knees!! She’s been coloring my hair for a year now and has exceeded all my expectations! She has taken me from a dark red to a beautiful balayaged blonde! I really wanted to be a blonde when I first met her, but my hair was so dark and there was no way I could be blonde overnight without killing me hair. She explained to me the process and we came up with a game plan. Mari cares about the integrity of the hair and does an amazing job at keeping your hair healthy and getting you to your hair goals. I get so many compliments on my hair and everyone is always telling me how natural it looks. Not only is Mari extremely talented at what she does, she’s also super fun to be around. I always have a great time when Mari does my hair!

Came in for a haircut with Jean on my day off. I have curly/wavy hair that needed a desperate cut! She cut all of the dead ends off and gave me some nice movement without giving me that triangle effect. She also showed me how to diffuse my hair to enhance my curls. Not to mention the shampoo with Tia was amazing! To give my hair some much needed moisture, Tia used the curl conditioner and Jean styled it with some curl defining crème. The products worked great, smelled fresh, and gave my hair shine and hold without being crunchy or sticky. Definitely, recommend this hair salon for curly girls. Will be back on my next day off!!

Jean is my KWEEEN - she’s the only person I trust when I want to try something new, always down for a challenge and always knows exactly what I’m trying to say! Love her! Toni was working in the station next to Jean and she had me cracking up - its like a girls night every time I come to this hair salon, so comfortable and inviting and everyone is hella nice (I’m also obsessed with GusGus)

Toni is a truly tremendous stylist, dedicated to her clients and making sure they leave looking the way they want. She is also very knowledgeable about color work. The space is tiny and wonderful, with edgy paintings on the wall and a great sound system. Very easy to relax here. Would recommend to anyone. They also have an awesome referral program you should ask about

I am a very tough critic when it comes to my hair - it's pin-straight, thin and there isn't much else going on. That means no volume or bouncy waves to hide any imperfections or a bad cut. So - as you can imagine - finding a stylist who "gets" my hair is quite an endeavor. Thank goodness for Thomas Taft Salon! I have been going there for a few years now, and have walked out feeling and looking fantastic every time since! Melyssa is an exceptionally talented stylist; I've seen her work wonders on clients with every hair type and style you can imagine (which makes her ability to handle mine so well pretty amazing). What's even more impressive is that she runs the business while simultaneously offering everyone who sits in her chair her full attention and really, the best experience. Both Thomas Taft locations have a fantastic vibe; in part because of the welcoming yet cool decor and even more so because of the great energy the entire staff brings. I have always felt welcome, cool, comfortable, relaxed - everything you want to feel at a great salon. If all of that doesn't sound wonderful and approachable enough - maybe you'll be swayed Thomas Taft Salon's mascot, Gus Gus! He's probably the friendliest and coolest Frenchie you'll ever meet. I can't imagine I could find another salon where I would receive a welcome like his!

Okay, I’m guilty . . . I should have left my review months ago, but I was too busy flaunting my lovely hair color and cut. And then the grays reappeared, and I remembered that I forgot to give credit where credit was due! It’s been three months, and my cut is as easy and fresh as it was when Jean at the SoHo location first did her magic! (And silly me traveled from the UES to SoHo to find Jean, the Hair Whisper, when all along, she’s also at the UES location!) Unfortunately, the damned grays have returned, but gray hair regrowth is better than no regrowth! From the initial booking process with the patient and kind Onich, which was made easy despite my high-maintenance requests, to the kind welcome at the cozy, comfortable SoHo salon, to the amazing professional care of my hair by Jean, I cannot say enough great things about the professionals at Thomas Taft in SoHo. I have finally found my NYC hair care team! Jean totally got my need for a low-maintainer haircut, also making the grays disappear with a perfect single process. Amazing when everything works wonderfully . . . THANK YOU! Okay, now I feel that I can now call to make a follow-up appointment! Apologies for my late review!

Toni gave me the best haircut I’ve ever had. And she cut off 10 inches. My hair is thick and I wanted a thin look, which i didn’t think was possible... but she made it happen. I love the way my hair looks when i style it. It’s exactly what I wanted and asked for. Best haircut ever.

Love this hair salon! I saw Kaylan for a toner for my brassy ends and had such a great experience. Kaylan was extremely knowledgeable and the color came out great. The space is quaint and the vibe is super chill. Plus they carry Bumble and bumble which is amazing. Will def be coming back to this hair salon.
