NYKIA is an AMAZING stylist! I had a wonderful experience at Scott J. Aveda salon on the Upper East Side. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming just like the rest of the staff. In addition, Nykia gave me the perfect blowout and silky straight hairstyle afterwards. Nykia's kindness, intelligence, professionalism, and knowledge are remarkable attributes. She goes above and beyond to treat her clients exceptionally well. She really listens and takes the time to understand your needs before styling your hair. The best part is that my hair came out beautifully because of her patience, care, and skillfulness. Overall, my appointment with Nykia was EXCELLENT!!! I would highly recommend her to ANYONE who is in the NYC area and looking to receive a gorgeous blowout. Thank you, Nykia and the rest of the Aveda team! Keep up the outstanding work!

Jailee is fantastic - she always understands what I am looking for, works quickly and has the best energy! My fine, straight, blah hair is transformed into the perfect blonde pixie. The shampoo/hand massage/shoulder rub is so relaxing. Scott J (and Jailee) are my favorite salon in NYC.

Amy is the best! She's super friendly, really listens to what you're asking for, and also offers honest opinions about what would look best. I also look forward to my appointments with her! She's taken my hair from blonde to brunette and back to blonde highlights again, and I've always been happy with her work. Go see her - you won't be disappointed!

THIS WAS THE WORST salon experience of my life! I went in JUST for a color- and I have super healthy hair! I was just going to make it a different color blonde, but it turned out GREENISH GREY! (*I'm 23- there is NO excuse!) The stylist went "oops" and chopped off HALF of my hair in the front (I used to have super long hair but now I have super awkward layers all over because she RUINED my hair) when I didn't even go in for a cut at all! DO NOT GO HERE! And before I could even look at my hair I was shuffled out the door after WAY overpaying- I should have refused to pay and I would have if I had been given a half second to look at the results. Good luck and beware to anyone who ever enters this salon wanting to feel beautiful afterwards.

Got exactly what I asked for. Dominique did a great job. Definitely a place to go if you care about how you look. A little on the pricey side but then again in the age of Supercuts anything more than $20 can seem expensive.

Jailee is amazing and is my only stylist; I have had her for 3 years now, and even when I move to neighborhood that is farther away I will continue to travel to her. She gives me versions of the pictures I show her during consultations that work with my hair texture and features. I am always happy with my cut and color when applicable. She also upsells, but not in a pressure-like way for me to buy products. Lastly, the reviews complain about price, but I find the prices cheaper for other salons that position themselves as similar to Aveda; each of their services are slightly lower than average. I deem Aveda to be a mid to high level luxury salon. In addition, each stylist commands a different price based on experience, so if you are willing to go with someone greener and take the risk with your hair, you can effectively lower the price. I am passionate about this place, and saw some negative reviews, so I wrote a lengthy one to combat those. :) Give this place a try!

Friendly staff, nice massages but extremely expensive and I left the salon with my hair looking worse than when I got in and feeling heavy and drier after a conditioning treatment. Not coming back.

Really great service- I called for a last minute appointment. We made the appointment and then she called back to say she noticed I’d previously gone to the west side location and she’d called them to secure an appointment for me there if I preferred that location. (I’d called them already and they’d had none but apprarently there was a last minute cancelation). Really went above and beyond to make things easier for me! Love this brand!

I walked in and got great service, Skye was very professional, managed to remove excess glue I had from extensions I had removed a few days ago at another place, she gave me a good wash and an amazing botanical treatment and finished it with a perfect hair dry, will go back when in New York again!!

This place is on the expensive side but totally worth it. The staff is so friendly, but not intrusive. They offer free neck/head massages and even a makeup refresh on your way out! I only wish my favorite stylist was still there.

If you like deafening music, no room to walk unless you walk sideways like a crab, and a freak show of obese, bizarrely-tressed hair stylists (the bright red hair stalk standing straight up in the middle of her hair), then by all means you should go here. If you like immature, unpolished savages that have just popped out of the Aveda training pod, who care more about strutting around in revealing shreds of clothing for they boys and they girls and every which way, if you like your shoulders massaged by a lobster, if you like barely competent haircuts that are camouflaged with fancy blowdrying, if you like an oppressively large and aggressive welcoming committee full of self-important yet pathetic esthetician-wannabes who pummel you with questions and try to talk you into this product or that or this promotion or that, if you like makeup demonstrators who get lipstick all over your teeth, then this place be for you. But if you think you can do better than this jungle, run!!!

I have fine hair and like to change my hair style a lot and she always helps me achieve something fun that works with my hair type. John also really gives the place that unexplainable umph! TARA TURNER is THE BEST! She worked all sorts of magic on my over-processed, over-bleached hair. My hair was lifeless and many shades of ugly (yellow, green, purple). She removed all the unwanted color without any discomfort! (Ie burning scalp). She also cut my shoulder length hair very short to perfection. She listened carefully to my wants and offered professional advice at the same time. She is so talented, I HIGHLY recommend her! I love my hair & have been receiving compliments all day. I will be going back to her and you should too!
