Very experienced stylists. Many of them just came from the now defunct (sadly) Salon Ishi, so they are expert at cutting Asian hair (all the Asians out there know how difficult it is to find a hair cutter who can handle straight hair and cowlicks). Demand is high so schedule early. The receptionists are on top of their game and are very friendly.
Some points were deducted for being a little too casual. For instance, the receptionists told me to go over to the coat check and change into a robe even though they knew that no one was manning the coat check booth at the time. There was a new robe on a numbered hanger on the counter, but was I supposed to go behind the counter, into the booth and hang my stuff up myself? Instead, I went into the changing area, took off my shirt, put on the robe and just stuffed my shirt in my bag, wrinkling it.
The woman who washed my hair was very casual as well. She never said hi. In fact, she didn't speak through the whole process, except at the very end, when she wrapped a towel around my head, I suppose I was expected to know to get up because she said, "um, hello?"
Also, no one offered me anything to drink, which would have been par for the course at Salon Ishi. I guess I'm spoiled, but for over $100 for a men's cut, I think it's the least they could do.
All that said, I was very happy with my cut and will be back. Just think there is room for better, more gracious service.
