I just moved to the area about 2 months ago and had been contemplating getting my hair cut in the Albuquerque area because my husband had been through 3 different barbers in the area who did not give him the cut he wanted. Anyway, I did a Google search and saw that Studio N had great ratings. So I thought, "I'd give them a shot. They're close by my house and seem reasonably priced." I called hoping to get a same day appointment but thinking they would be booked since they have good ratings. I spoke with Kiana who was very friendly and said they welcome walk-ins but also take appointments. They were able to take me in within the hour and it was Kiana who cut and styled my hair. First of all, let me say that she did an amazing job on my hair! I had a picture of the style I wanted and she did it perfectly! She was hospitable, offered me water, was very friendly in conversation and sweet, was professional, and had excellent customer service skills. Even doing the most simple things likes offering to put my purse somewhere else (other than the floor) so hair wouldn't end up in it, was really nice and showed she had great service skills. Even the owner asked me how everything went and introduced himself. He wanted to make sure I was satisfied with the cut and you could tell he was really focused on making sure his salon's clients were satisfied. I told him about my husband struggling to find a good barber in the area and he took an interest in asking to see a picture of my husband so he could make an assessment of the style my husband wants. I told my husband about my good experience here at Studio N and there's a good chance my husband will try them out. It's not everyday you find a stylist on the first shot, but I did. I will be back. Dominick is great.And if he can, he'll do his best to accommodate you and get you in.You have to enter the salon from the back door but that is part of the charm of this small salon. He is great with short hair.

This was my first time using Studio N. I called for my 81 yr old Mother who wanted a perm. They had come recommended by a nephew's girlfriend who uses them frequently. It was Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. I had just flown into Albuquerque a few days prior. When my elderly Mother said she would love to get her hair done again, i was not confident were woul be able to getting an appointment within the week in light of the holidays. When I called Studio N, the owner Nam Tran answered. I told him my situation and asked if the were any availabilities for a same day appt... mainly that same day as I called. Without hesitation, Nam went to work making it happen. I gave him all the info he needed, and he promised to call me back and check the schedules of his stylist, and research who would be a good fit with my Mom. Within 20 minutes, Nam called back with a scheduled appt later in the afternoon. YEAH!! So at our appointed time, Mom and I went to the Corrales location. We were met at the door by our stylist. She was very nice and accommodating. I informed her Mom was a little hard of hearing. What happened after thus was what impressed me. The stylist (sorry name forgotten) talked to my Mother calmly and a little louder. She did not talk down to my Mom, nor did she ask needless questions, trying to develop rapport. My Mom wanted only a perm, and not to play 20 questions with a stranger. That was very professional on her part. The stylist did not give off a vibe of not interested to ask questions, rather she was focused just on my Moms hair. The perm was great! My Mom is very ouckly about her hair as she was a beautician of sorts for years. No complaints or any negative comments about the stylist from Mom at all! What she didn't like was the "ergonomic" chair she had to lay back into to get the perm. It is definite designed more for a younger person. I would highly recommend Studio N. Nam Tran runs a good business and seems to know how to hire and keep quality employees. I will be sure to return again.

What a fabulous haircut. I had never had a dry cut but I am a skeptic no longer. Yvonne did a fabulous job and what a great personality. Her chair side manner was delightful. Interesting and charming. The salon is in a busy area but quiet and comfortable. Wide open doors and a comfortable feeling. A glass of water with lemon and vualaa....you're transformed. Love my cut and the service excellent. called and they got me in quick. I will definitely return and shout their praises to my friends.

I was fortunate enough to get an appointment with the owner, Nam Tran, quite by accident. I can't even begin to say how pleased I am with my new look. I went in looking and feeling old and tired, and I came out looking and feeling 10 years younger!!! Everyone complimented me on my new look and my husband was absolutely ecstatic!!! Nam is a truly gifted stylist and an absolute genius with a blow dryer, but he also works with the rest of his staff to make sure that they do the same. I tried to use a Groupon and was very disappointed by the experience. I have never used one since I've been a loyal client and it said if you hadn't used a Groupon within 12 months, which I had not, it was valid. The price was not honored and the process to try to get the Groupon cancelled has been difficult. The employees were difficult about it and I didn't appreciate the customer service. The owner promised to help me figure out how to cancel it and I have not heard from him since. I had enjoyed the studio, but because of this experience I will not be returning and taking my business elsewhere.

Initially my experience with this salon was okay, nothing to brag about. My stylist was Stephanie Ellis, did and okay job with my first couple of visits. Was very neutral as to what my job was, was charge a high price (I think) for an okay color and cut. My third or so visit I tried an experiment, mentioned that I worked in a job that paid a large salary (I’m a teacher), all of a sudden she started doing services that I didn’t request nor did she ask if I wanted them. My regular $115 bill ballooned to $168. Informed the owner that I hope that wasn’t the cost or I would not go there again. He brought the price back down to $115 and I made an appointment to return in 8 weeks. Returned last Saturday, Stephanie, did a horrible job with my hair in retaliation from last visit. She stripped my hair of the color she put in on last visit, put in purple highlights, and mad some excuse not to cut my hair. She charged me $118 for this poor service and had the audacity to make another appointment for a few days later to have my hair cut. Stay away from this place

Not terribly pleased with my results. What I asked for a was simple cut and style to bring my waist length hair to my shoulder blades. Instead I was given shoulder length hair with choppy layers. My stylist did no bother to bring out my hair or offer to straighten it when finished, which is something I have always had done for me. Pricing was another thing; on the website it states that cuts are $36+ but it doesn't give alternative pricing. Perhaps I misread prices but my haircut was not worth the $59.00 I paid plus tip. Very disappointed.

Would not recommend based on 3 visits. The dog is nice, but does not belong in a place of business jumping up in your lap when you have a head full of color. Not to mention unsanitary and probably in violation They do not offer water coffee or anything even when you are in the chair for 2+ hours. No place to put your purse nor is one made available for you. No place to put your coat and you're also left to fend for yourself to drape it over one of the 4 chairs in the tiny waiting area. The amount of upsell that you are subjected to is ridiculous. As another reviewer mentioned, it appears they more money they think you have, the more the services they can push. I mentioned my husband did well in his business and next visit my usual service went up in price, and without a proper consultation. Unprofessional at best. If you're looking for a cold atmosphere and technically ok services this may be the place for you. But we're talking hair here, not brain surgery. Come down to earth and value your clients. We are paying your salary. Don't treat us like chumps.

This place has great Mac n cheese and Kayla is also really cool she does great with thick curly textured hair. I swear my hair is like the final boss demon of knots and she somehow makes it look pretty every time. Without her, I’d look like Danny devito. 5 stars.

I'd searched forever to find a place that did not freak out when it came to cutting long hair on a guy, and particularly one that would not give me something akin to a mullet! The staff and owner are always friendly, they listen and suggest styles that fit your hair and face and why. If you're looking for a great place for a haircut, style and relaxing experience-THIS is it!

I just recently moved to ABQ area from Memphis, TN and I haven’t had a hair cut since summer of 2018. My hair was in desperate need of something new and blunt seeing that I’ve had long hair forever and was ready for a change. Stephanie was my stylist and she was great! I informed her that my credit card had already been hacked here in this area and I might pay with my credit card, but a beauty shop or any other such business has NO business keeping peoples credit cards on file. I walked in to Studio N just wanting to have a conversation and maybe make an appointment. I walked out with the best haircut and style I have had in over three years. Nam Tran was gracious, patient and willing to fill a spot in his schedule in a genuine and hospitable manner. It is obvious he has a passion for his work and his business. Trusting a new person with my hair is stressful, but Nam has the heart of a healer. The tables were turned as it is usually up to me to be the care-giver. From the moment I sat in his chair to the moment I left he was customer focused. I had a great stylist for over a decade when I lived on the East coast, and have lamented that loss in an otherwise great relocation. Will not return to this filth hole with snob stylists. Yvonne M. tried pulling a bait and switch on me yesterday after taking my two young daughters in for cuts. I mentioned when making the appointment that I had a Groupon and was wanting to make a child cut appointment for my 9 year old and would use the Groupon for my 12 year old daughter. After cuts were done I was told by Yvonne that she did not consider my 12 year old daughters amount of hair a child’s cut and her prices for her cuts are $54. $54 for a 12 year old child?!? She tried to use the $29 purchased Groupon towards my 9 year olds trim done by Stephanie E. Who did a decent job but for a 9 year old with shoulder lenghth hair. I left yesterday paying $28 for my 9 year olds cut plus gratuity which I felt wasn’t deserved & argued to use the groupon for my 12 year old even though it should’ve just been the price of a child’s cut. I will never return to this slum of a salon. BEWARE these girls who take two hours to do two children’s cuts. I sat with my son in the middle of the salon watching Stephanie drop multiple items on the floor. It was just a nightmare! There’s reputable salons in Albuquerque that aren’t filthy and don’t try to take advantage of their customers & also have hot water. My girls mentioned they were out of hot water while having their hair washed & rinsed she stated it was ice cold. With or without a Groupon I’d stay far far away.

Horrible experience, the place was filthy, the owner (nam) had his dog running around the salon, as well the stylist that weren't busy did nothing to change the cleanliness of the salon... Just a very poor experience. I would recommend booking elsewhere. Not to mention my service was below par for what i was charged.
