I've had nothing but good experiences here. Both Emily and Victor have done a great job. i've had the executive cut with includes haircut shampoo, head massage, and hot towel, so the $30 is well worth it for all that. Taking your shirt off and putting the robe on is beneficial, if you are wearing a collard shirt it doesn't get in the way, and even with a t-shirt you won't get your shirt wet by accident while washing your hair. It's hard to find a full service mens cut for $25-$30 so this is a great deal.

I have been going to 18 8 for a few years now. Good barbers are hard to come by in Albuquerque. All the stylists are good there. I tried most of them but Wayne has been my main stylist for a while. He cut my hair and my groomsmen hair before my wedding. You can set up events for your guys and they go all out. I will not go anywhere else. They always get me in and do an amazing job. Trust me. My mom was a career stylist. She never liked my cuts till I started having Wayne cut it. Hands down the best.

Lousy haircut- no better then an $8 barber cut but these people charge $42 bucks. I went back in after my cut to ask them to correct it and they showed absolutely no interest in helping me to fix it. They in fact blame me suggesting I should comb in back in place more often. They also overcharged my son after advertizing a student discount. Dont waste your time and money here!

We came into town needing haircuts before a wedding. Wayne cut my son’s hair and worked magic. I’ve never seen my six year old beam like he did looking in the mirror. He is truly an artist with hair. Jasmin did a great job fixing a bad haircut for my husband too. Both were great. The location has a great vibe with upbeat music. Even though we live in the Phoenix area we will be traveling back periodically as Albuquerque is part of my husband’s territory. We will be scheduling work trips around haircuts.

Two times with two different stylists they cut my hair way shorter than I wanted it. Both times had to be fixed by someone who didn't really take what I wanted into account. (For example, giving me a fade when I didn't request it and was too late to say anything.) Then one of their newly hired stylists tried to friend request me on Facebook and solicit my business, which was a bit off putting and unprofessional to say the least. The atmosphere is good, the free followup trim is a nice service, but I wasn't too enamored of what I paid for the quality of haircut I received.

Spectacular service. I've patronized Eighteen-Eight for 3 years now and havn't had my hair cut anywhere else since. I suggest trying out a few of the stylists until you find the right fit, both from a style and conversation perspective. I've enjoyed almost every experience, but I do play favorites when my schedule is open enough to see the senior stylist I prefer. The membership is a great value, especially if you take advantage of the free cleanups to help your haircut "last longer".

Got my head shaved here. Head massage, hot towels, tonic, lotion; the works. It's never this good when I do it myself. Haha. My stylist, Wade, was awesome. The R&B music can go, in my opinion, but you've got to have nondescript music for a crowd, so I get it. Could throw in some classic rock; that's pretty unassuming. But I digress. Moral of the story: very nice place.

I recommend asking who your barber is going to be and how much you will be charged. Its a top notch place for sure. But they don't communicate well to first timmers. Communication is key in my opinion. I scheduled an appointment over the phone for my two boys. (Keep in mind according to online the price I saw, it was 21ish.) The gal on the phone asked what time and what barber? and proceeds to scheduled us with so and so. She new we where new as I said anyone works, we don't have a preference yet becuase we have never been there. Now the key thing here would be for her to communicate with me, or anyone for that matter, that different barber's have different prices. But she didnt. We show up, get the haircuts, and it's $70 for two little boys under 9 years old. $70???? I asked the gal how is it $70 when online it said $21. ($21 is steep in my mind but I was willing considering my boys wanted a special kind of haircut I can't do myself with clippers). She then proceeded to explain that since it was with so and so, they charge more. Hmmmmm...."that couldn't have been communicated with me before I scheduled I aksed?" "You booked me with them, I didnt specify which barber because we are new here." She said "that's not my responsibility to communicate that." I was flabbergasted. That's not customer service. I didn't get an apology, no sorry for the mix up, let us knock $10-20 off your bill. Nothing!!!! It's sad really. She could have appologized, knocked a few dollars off my bill, and we would have been back, because I love humbleness.

Great service! Matt cut my hair and did an awesome job. Would recommend to anyone. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the price is on the higher side compared to other barber shops in town. However It is a men's salon.

First time experience. I was in town visiting the Duke City. Needed a haircut and color for last minute community event, so I very skeptical and being on a Sunday when just about everyone is closed . I was assigned to Justin. Man!! this guy can cut and color hair. Awesome job and would definitely recommend to friends and family.

First, let me start off by saying that I either the classic barber shop type or the high end male salon type. This shop is neither. They asked me to take off my shirt and use their blouse during my haircut (weird). I had to sit and watch CNN on the TV. Not that this is the end of the world, but I like to have something a little more interesting and light hearted to watch before a haircut. My stylist was ok and he missed a patch of hair on my neck. I am not sure that the stylists are worth their rates - upper twenties and lower thirties. There was little attention to detail. My haircut was ok, and I have had much better at other places at this price point. I am trying Ace barber next.

DO NOT GO THERE. DO NOT. JOSH was my "barber" - who was in a hurry to get done with his day. 1st red flag. Eager to make conversation with colleagues while doing my beard. 2nd red flag. I go there to get my goatee shaped. He ONLY shaves one side burn. Totally leaves out the other. What kind of barber does that ? I did not observe this at the time as i had my long hair(down to the shoulders) down which hid my side burns. It goes unnoticed. I was too excited to get my goatee shaped and I forgot about the side burns. He also leaves hair from trimming my beard on my neck. No clean up after. 3rd red flag. I had to go back to borrow a towel to clean it up myself. He did not bother to ask why I came back. He could not care less. So when I go back to get by other side burn trimmed, he wasn't there. Another girl mended it. I report the incident to the manager - STACY. She did NOT apologize for the fiasco. Instead was glad I could "come back to get the issue fixed". Why would anyone be glad that they could help me with such a blunder. If anything you should offer an apology on the barber's behalf. Even if you don't mean it. All this while not admitting JOSH's mistake and being smug about the episode. She was boasting about her experience. Who cares? I hate to say, but dressing a barbie doll doesn't count as experience. I do not believe any of the good reviews here. I sincerely hope the owner takes things into his/her hands if they want to survive as a business.

I have really curly hair so it's hard to find someone who can style my hair correctly. Not only were they open on a Sunday, but they have a nice waiting area and really generous staff. Stacey did a great job on my hair, she took her time and did a wonderful job. I will definitely be back.

The receptionist finally went into waiting area and said I'm sorry we are running late because of another new client in front of you. I just walked out and told the receptionist I'm never coming back to this place.

I've been getting my hair cut by Wayne for just over three years now and haven't been happier! He's professional fast and a hell of a stylist! For the longest time I had no idea what to do with my hair until Wayne took one look and BAM perfect. Well worth the cost.

Stacey did a truly outstanding job taking care of me, from the light conversation, to the helpful event/restaurant recommendations, to the hot towels, to the shoulder massage. This was on top of a first-rate cut with professionalism and attention to detail. I will definitely be back when I'm in town. The cashier was very courteous and friendly and the cookies and drinks in the (small) waiting room and smocks to go over your clothes beneath the cape was a nice touch, too. My only quibble, like another reviewer, is the R&B music...Not my first choice for a fine men's establishment, as a piano bar, crooners, or even classic rock station would fit the atmosphere much better.

I've been going to 18-8 for around 4 or 5 years about one every month or two and I will never go anywhere else. They're the only people I trust with my hair and are always really nice and friendly. My stylist is Brandy but they all do great work. I don't mind paying the extra for the perfect haircut and great atmosphere.

Fantastic place on every level, with high quality cuts plus great advice, comfy atmosphere, and friendly/personable staff. Worth every penny. Wayne is especially good: I've been a client of his for 3 years, and can't say enough about his skill/professionalism/friendliness. What's more, he's very knowledgeable and will guide you to the exact cut and care/product regimen you need. Just tell him what you want and he'll make it happen! Walk ins are welcome but the 18/8 appointment system and considerably more hours than other local barbers is very convenient, but be warned: Wayne is very popular and next to impossible to get on a walk-in, and with good reason. The rest of the staff is also great though, so I doubt you can go wrong even if you can't get Wayne

This is actually not a bad place. Neat concept for a men's hair stylist/grooming. When my favorite stylish was here it was good. But since she left I tried 4 of the other stylist and my cuts were progressively worse. The last cut was more of a hachet job and they were promoting him on social media. This just is not a place for me. Everyone is real nice. But I just couldn't rely on them any longer, which is too bad because it's a neat place at face value.

Went back two times. Last time for sure. Last haircut the manager gave me and was one of the worst cuts I've ever head. One side was longer than the other and the zero fade was non existant. I've had excellent barbers in the past cut my hair and this compares to none of them. My friend when I was in high school did a better job

I go to this business for my haircut because of Wayne. His haircuts are as good everytime as I have ever experienced. There are a few different things I like done with the cut and he never forgets. This is not a buzz-snip-10-minutes-and-your-done place. It is pricey for an Albuquerque haircut. But Wayne's skill with clippers and sizzors is worth it to me.

I've never had a preference for a specific barber, so each time I book I just take whoever they give me. In all the times I've been here I've never had a bad experience. It was the first place where after I told them what I was thinking, they gave great advice on hairstyles based on face shape and your personal style. Everyone has been amazing, and they all are great at cutting and styling your hair. The atmosphere is good, the treatment is amazing, really my only issue would be price. It's costly, but worth it.

I have been a client of Wayne for about a year now. Wayne is extremely talented and is a great conversationalist. He is very friendly and is very knowledgeable. I chose him after reading his great reviews and I have to admit that I am very happy I took that decision. Besides regular haircuts, Wayne can also guide you about other concerns and problems that you may be having. Scheduling can be done online and that’s the best way as same day appointments are tough to get with Wayne as he is very popular and busy. Needless to say, this place is one of the best in Albuquerque. The remaining staff members are also very cordial and friendly although I have only availed the services from Wayne. But I am sure even the other staff members will be equally competent. Overall a great experience and totally worth it !
