This salon was incredible!!! I did a day of 'Me time" a few months back. Had a great cut and highlight followed by a brow wax that was so amazing and relaxing! I can't wait to go get a pedi!! I called before hand to speak to what i was told to be a professional stylist about getting a perm. The receptionist told me she would have someone (bree) contact me. Bree tells me shes been doing perms for 10 years. During my time there she seemed to not know what she was doing and didnt really think twice about it. So i get done, paid $80 and then she gives me a business card that says shes an esthetician. Its been a week since my perm and lets just say its no longer existing. My hair is now straight. I spent $80 of my hard earned money and was lied to about the history of the employees. I called to discuss this and im told i can pay another $80 to have it done again. No thank you. I went to this salon based on reviews and the history of the stylist which i feel are all lies. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!!

I have a lot of thin very curly hair. I part my hair on the side and end up with an over abundance or heavy area over my left ear which is hard to manage and style. Lindsey(sp?) took her time getting to know my hair as a result I haven't had to deal with that dreaded heavy area. The scalp massage

I am so disapointed. Not only did I not get what I came in for my hair is now destroyed. In an effort to avoid harsh chemicals of other hair coloring products I chose Dark Horse Salon because of their Aveda line which claims to be healthier for hair. When I called the manager of the salon recommended Jim for my balayage. I feel bad for leaving him a negative review because he was really nice but I feel even worse for my hair. When I showed Jim images of what I wanted which was a gradual blonde balayage and asked if he could transform my brown (virgin) hair into this, he assured me that I had nothing to worry about. He used one shade of lightener throughout most of my hair not including the scalp. My hair ended up looking plain orange without the gradual transition of colors. It looked skunk like. He told me to give it a chance and see if I like it and to come back another day so that he could add highlights around my face which he did not do to begin with. I decided to give it a chance so I made an appointment and was told that I could pay when I come back for touch ups. I payed and tipped either way (because I'm just too nice and now I feel like an idiot). After I got home and scared my fiancé, I washed my hair and noticed that it felt and looked like straw. It was so dry and had no shine to it. I did not want to go back to the same stylist because I no longer trusted him and thought he would only make it worse. Thankfully, I was able to find a stylist at a different salon the next day but she had to color correct and dye my entire hair back to my original color to make it look as natural as possible. It just sucks that I ended up spending over $300 to have my hair destroyed and colored back to my original color.

Marissa has been my stylist for around two years now. More recently we moved salons to Dark Horse. Dark Horse is charming, bright, clean and upbeat. The receptionist and fellow stylists were all welcoming and down to earth. Looking forward to coming here! Marissa is phenomenal. I’m an incredibly picky client and also very indecisive. Beyond being super talented, Marissa is patient and really listens. I have wavy/curly hair with some crazy cowlicks and she cuts my hair unique to my curl pattern. We often switch up the color gloss to experiment with different tones. I always leave her chair with a shiny gorgeous haircut.

I wish I could write a nice review about this place, but I am so disappointed. I got the groupon for a hair cut and color and ended up paying more on top of that for the balayage treatment. I showed Paul (who is really a nice guy, I enjoyed talking to him during my time) what I wanted and he took a quick glance and then seemed liked he knew what he was doing. I had never had my hair colored before and wanted a gradual introduction to something new, so I thought the balayage was the way to go. He ended up bleaching the ends of my hair and by the time it was done it looked like I had half a head of dark brown hair an half a head of yellow/orange bleached hair. I told him it was a little dramatic and I was not wanting it to be that blonde, and he said to try it out for a week and see if I get used to it. I did tip and pay because he put in the effort, but I left a wreck because I knew it looked terrible. I ended up making an appointment the next day at a different salon where they fixed it. Even they said that he did not know what he was doing. My haircut was even uneven. Very disappointed in the service I was given, especially for the absurd amount I paid.

The hairstylist, Paula, pays attention to the details and is patient with my girlfriend's hairstyle desires. She generally remembers her hairstyle and she's a great conversationalist. Not to mention open minded. We both highly recommend this salon!

Charlie did a color and cut for me and it turned out AMAZING! The color was exactly what I wanted and I let her do a cut she thought would work best (I have a pixi cut) for a re-shape. A new favorite place to go to get hair done. They are very hospitable and cater to your caffeinated needs. The seating is leather, comfortable and a full body mirror to view every angle of your hair. Groupon friendly!! Highly recommendable!! Friendly staff!!

Megan cut my daughter's hair way too short 2 weeks before her senior pictures. She told her how much she wanted off which was around an inch to 1 1/2 inches and she took off over 4 inches. Megan did NOT listen to her customer-typical of this salon. I would NOT recommend this salon to anyone. I used to go here for years when Matt Wayne owned it and the stylists were there for a long time. I am not sure what happened but this is no longer a good salon. There are other great Aveda salons in Omaha that listen to their customers and deliver the services that they request.

The staff here are friendly, knowledgeable, and have exceptional service! My stylist, Jen, moved from another Aveda salon to this one. The transition for me as her client, was seamless. I am a die-hard and forever fan of Aveda and their products and and the way they run their company. I have been a patron of Aveda salons in Colorado and Nebraska since 2005. Dark Horse salon does not disappoint. It is near the Dundee area of Omaha, which is quaint, historic and well maintained. This shop is in a cute little neighborhood which is a refreshing location since most others are in a strip mall atmosphere. Dark Horse is laid out well, with a nice bench like pedicure area and sitting space. There are many stylist chairs and a beautiful mixing wall of hair color possibilities! It is both bright and relaxing with a decor like a mountain cabin mixed with the “Rose Apothecary” (Schitt’s Creek)

I followed Marissa to this salon. She does great work and, in my opinion, when you find a stylist you like then stick with them! She is very talented and listens to what I want so I don't leave disappointed. I like the salon's atmosphere, the pricing is reasonable, and the dundee neighborhood is a fun area. It is located 20 mins from where I live but it is worth the drive!

I was a long-standing client of the Matt Wayne Salon and was concerned that when the salon changed hands that certain things might suffer. But, the new owner has retained the level of service and raised the bar as well. I am always greeted promptly, offered a hot or cold drink, and escorted to the waiting area while my stylist is informed that I have arrived for my appointment. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with a beautiful new color scheme and renovations. My stylist Lindsay is charming and skillful; she always makes me feel welcome and I leave with a gorgeous cut and color!

Customers need to be careful of using a Groupon here. I feel my daughter was overcharged. She had a Groupon for $79. (47% off $150). She had to pay $130. She was told it was for extra highlights. However she did not get eyebrow waxing or a cut which were part of this deal. She only needed a trim.

Kyanna at the Salon is just amazing! I love the different ways she can style my hair. I have very thick and curly hair, and it helps that she knows what should be done. She gives you great tips of styling and maintaining your look. She also did my hair for my wedding, she is an absolute treasurer. I wanted to have a pin up look for the wedding, and she you-tubed videos to figure out new ways to style my hair. I love that she is willing to take on a challenge, and you get great results with her. If there was 10 stars, I would do that, but I can only give 5 on here! Worth your time to see Kyanna!

I highly recommend Dark Horse. The pricing for Aveda is better than any other Aveda salon in the Omaha metro area (especially Roar in Aksarben). I was going to Roar up until recently and realized I was paying almost DOUBLE at Roar. Dark Horse has many services nails, massage, make up, hair (obviously) and I know there is more planned. I go to Marissa and couldn't be happier. This salon is clean, vibrant, and offers great refreshments. The washing bowls were comfortable unlike many salons and this is now my official salon.

I had been going here for lash extensions and fills every two weeks since January.. I had never been anywhere else so I just kept up the appointments, yesterday I went to Deka Lash for a fill and the girl couldn’t even do a fill the lashes were so over-lapped, and had four or so lashes glued to one extension hair (consistently)... long story short my lashes were damaged and my new lash girl told she’s never seen anything the way mine had been, usually she can do fills from other businesses, but these were that bad!
