I didn’t like my experience at all. First, the stylist showed up about 30 mins late and I couldn’t get in contact with her and she didn’t contact me to let me know that she was going to be late, which is funny cause I got about 3 reminders of my appt. The only acknowledgement of her timing that I got was “thanks for being patient.” Second, I got a cut and color, which I showed a pic of the color that I was going for, and it was a fail. I don’t want to knock anyone business, but when you drive 40 mins and pay close to $100 for a cut, color, and NO style, I would expect something a little more professional looking. To be honest, the look on her face after she finished, she didn’t look confident of the job she did. She just threw some gel on my hair and called it a day. I will NOT be returning. I should’ve went with my first instinct and left after waiting 15 mins with no call, but I drove 40 mins which was still for nothing.

I truly enjoyed the visit. Stylists are very friendly. I can't remember my stylist's name because I'm bad with names. The salon was very inviting and everyone had a great attitude. I booked another appointment. Im so Grateful to have FINALLY found a hair salon that caters to the needs of naturals. I highly recommend this place!

It's difficult for me to not speak highly of an African American run business, but the experience I had was unacceptable. Having just moved here from atlanta, I did my research and found seemingly "rave" reviews online. I will not be the person to discourage anyone from obtaining business, but as a customer who was not serviced appropriately, it is necessary to document my grievances. I'm sure everyone here is great in their individual capacities, but I've been natural for 6 years and have intermittently gotten silk outs during that 6 year period and This is the first time it has ever looked this brittle, stiff, puffy at the root and just bad. To add insult to injury the terrible product I was left with was blamed on me and my lack of knowledge and grade of hair. I am, however, a professional and don't agree with not paying someone for a service rendered, but I can confidently say that I will not return and will not refer this salon to anyone. It's unfortunate that this went so poorly as I was very excited about what could happen based on other testimonials, but the overall lack of professionalism, knowledge base, customer service skill, and problem resolution tactics will lose them my business. Please note that each customer (especially if they're new) should never have to coach a stylist through the styling of their hair. I literally was stopping her to tell her my hair was still wet as she was flat ironing (leading to serious breakage), that there was dandruff everywhere (indicating poor washing), and that I was used to my edges being hit with a hot comb as opposed to slapping edge control on them and further stiffening my already stiff hair. Ultimately, I left the salon to re-wash and deep condition my hair which is COMPLETELY unacceptable. This is unfortunate, and thank you for your time, but this was certainly a first and a last for me.

I’ve been coming here for 5 years, been loyal, and this year has been the worse. Shop is constantly hot, air problems. Lights go off in the middle of a style. I’m having to use my personal flashlight on my phone to complete to assist the stylist. Shop just ran down. The entrance isn’t even appealing anymore. The wait area is full of old and ripped up chairs.

This Salon is the best to go to in Jackson if you want a sew-in or a natural up-do or any thing natural and chemical free. One thing is that if Mel has a busy day, you will have to wait but it is a great experience to get you hair done and talk to talented and respectful clients that care about your hair and know how it feels. The service is great and the people are nice. You are sure to walk out of Natural ~U~ Salon happy and beautiful about you and your hair!

I called into the shop to see if I could walk in and get a shampoo, blow out and braid down (as I wear wigs) and the owner (Melody) referred me to Arnelle and said that she would be the next available. My appointment was set for 11am. I arrived on time and liked Arnelle, however she did not do a good job at washing my hair. Her fingernails were so long she could not really just wash a good head. Once she finished shampooing, she attempted to blow my hair out, but did not blow dry it out completely. She left damp spots in my head. I asked her to go through it some more with the blow dryer and she did, but she did not blow dry it fully. She then started to braid my hair but could barely grip it as her nails were too long. When she finished, she gave me a mirror and I was so disappointed as my braids looked as if they were two weeks old. My hair was so frizzy because she did not blow my hair out completely and I have kinky coily course 4c hair. The price was $40 which is normally more than I pay my regular stylist. I was so unpleased about how bad my braids looked. She was a sweet girl but I will not be returning as I thought that this was a natural hair specialty salon.

Stylist SanChasity was not inviting or friendly. Did not introduce herself and was rushing. Her main concern was helping the other stylist finish braiding someone else hair. She did not trim my ends or even attempt to make my hair decent. She blow dried my hair and threw it into a rubberband and snatched the Cape off and said she was done. This was my first experience and I will not be coming back. I honestly could have did my hair myself if I knew it would be done like that. It definitely was not worth $60

No one else is allowed to style my hair other than Melody. I have been coming to Natural U for 5 years, and my hair has significantly grown because of Melody's gentle technique. I am extremely tender headed, and I never cringe when Melody styles my hair. I started my natural hair journey with Melody's guidance, and haven't looked back since. I have moved away from the area, but I am lucky that my job flies me to Jackson frequently, to where I can still let Melody style my hair. It has been a rewarding experience, and I am thankful to be able to have the best stylist ever. Stylist could have been nicer/more inviting. There's much more I could say but the wash and go was a "no go". It seem as if my hair type (4C) was something she wasn't use to dealing with nor did it seem like they had the right products to use when it comes to different hair types. Seemed less educated on doing natural hair.

Arnelle hooked up my daughter's locs. Very pleased with the results and highly recommend her. My only issue was my appointnent starting an hour after our scheduled time. I just don't have that kind of time. And the bathroom was in no condition to be used. I will definitely be back to see arnelle again.

I went beginning of December to get the Big Chop. I loved the way it was done, forgot who did it, but she was nice and generous. Debating whether or not I want to go back to get my sister locks done, but overall I liked the place my first time going and the stylist. Not sure about any of the other stylists, it seemed as if they cared about the customer's hair. It wasn't welcoming I can say, but it's not a retail store.

Every time I go to natural u salon, I get A-1 service. 2 years ago I lost most of my hair. Melody took the time to study my hair and create a bridge to cover my bald spots, meanwhile she treated my hair underneath. Now through God and her blessed hands, my hair has been completely restored. Thanks Melody I can never repay you for what you have done!...Forever Indebted to you!
