I had an appointment with Nina and I loved her. She is super nice and understands what you are looking for. I have blonde hair and sometimes its hard to find a good colorist but she is great! It looks natural but also if you want to go brighter she can do it! She will do it in a safe way and also it wont turn yellow which that has happened to me many times. She will give you suggestions and also what will need to be done to get where you want to be, but leaves it up to you to decide (because it is your hair). Shes great and I recommend her 100%! I've been to many salons and some really expensive ones and she is by far my favorite.

Simply put, the best haircuts I've ever had have come from Jen and Sean at Trephin. I have unforgiving hair that's a pain to cut, and they do a wonderful job of taking the time needed to do it right. I've had it cut at cheaper places that spend fifteen minutes, and a month later, I'm back again with a ragged mop. Trephin, on the other hand, is a once every three months kind of place, where it grows out so well you don't even notice how long it's gotten.

I was looking for a new stylist and a friend recommended Joe. Joe has now cut my hair twice and I have been exceptionally happy with it each time. He took the time to look at the pictures of various styles that I brought and made some recommendations, executing the style perfectly. I have curly hair but straighten it each day. While cutting my hair, Joe showed me how I could style my hair to wear it curly if I ever wanted to - he's wonderful and really takes the time to not only style your hair himself, but also to make sure you can do the same at home. I can't say enough wonderful things about him. He 's a skilled stylist but also a really nice person. Trephin is a great salon. I highly recommend going there - Ask for Joe!

Didn't cut my hair how I asked..left with my hair styled worst than when I came in and majorly overpriced. Found the hairstylist Joe rude as well

The vibes are wonderful. But I honestly left feeling cheated. I went in for a blow dry which averagely costs 50 dollars ( I get a blowout every week) and they charged me 80 dollars for a very average blow dry.

Nina G. is an expert colorist. She took my thick, thick, long, dyed black hair with red highlights to a beautiful healthy blonde. Nina always made great suggestions on protective treatments to make sure my hair stayed smooth and strong. The prices for the services was similar to what I had paid outside of Boston, but the quality of the redken products, techniques, and salon experience were superior to other top Boston salons. Trephin is chic, hip, creative, and high quality hair care experience.

I have been with Trephin since the day they opened... I followed several of the stylists from their last salon. The previous co-owner Brian always cut my hair and did an incredible job. Now I see Joe, who is absolutely fantastic as well! For color, I have been with Nina for as long as I can remember. She is talented, creative and a wonderful human being. The entire staff at Trephin is amazing! Can't recommend them enough...

I've followed Maura across multiple salons and she's landed here alongside some other cool, creative stylists. At the right time of day, it feels more like hanging out at art school than getting a haircut, which is a refreshing change of scene from the blowout mills around Newbury and the South End.
