I chopped off my hair in February and have been growing it out since. I was suffering through that awkward in between period when I looked like a science project/a scene kid/a mom. I went to see Sasha at Shag who is a majestic wizard of hair cutting. I did a cut and color with her. My color was super rich and has not faded nearly as quickly as the red in my old salon and my hairdo is charming and easy to keep up and I no longer look like I am heading off to Warped Tour. Obviously Sasha is a hair angel from heaven but everyone at absolutely lovely and I have only nice things to say.

I drive almost 2 hours one way to have Lisa cut my hair. For the past 3 years she's given me a cut that works with my hair type (fine and curly) and also my lifestyle. The products the salon carries, Davines and Oribe, are top of the line and hard to find. Everyone is professional and courteous and I look forward to being a customer for many years to come.

I went through 4 hair stylists / colorists after moving to Boston before meeting Stephanie. I Love, love, love Stephanie! She knows what to do with your hair. She's honest and up front (Tells it like it is kinda gal). No placation, but honest and professional. The fact that Stephanie is an expert in both color and styling is a plus. I'm always happy when I leave. I would recommend her in a heartbeat (and have).

superficial, impossible to get ahold of, and drastically overpriced. Some hair looks good on anyone, and if you mostly work on pretty people then your work will almost always look good. Very disorganized.

Seriously the best! The location is on Summer St in between South Boston and Seaport. The atmosphere is super trendy and chic. I feel like I have to dress up to go there just to fit in. The guys and girls that work there are beyond hipster. They are rock-stars but with a classy-look. They make me want to shave half of hair and dye the other half purple and then be photographed on a southie roof, but alas I just go for the partial foil and classic layered cut because I have no cutting edge. They are also friendly and really, really good at what they do. I've read they are one of the top 25 hair salons in the country and this does not surprise me at all. Sheryl for color and Moselle for cuts, they really know their stuff and I come out feeling like a celebrity. It's like a exclusive club there with popular rock/house music and free beverages and magazines. Prices are within reason and competitive of what you would find at any quality salon even on Newbury. I really wouldn't recommend anywhere else to get beautiful!

In for a men's cut. Very nice facilities. Staff seemed very professional and well-mannered. Interior was well-decorated. Furniture in good repair. My stylist, Harley (forgive me if I misspelled) was quite good, very competent abilities, friendly yet professional attitude, and a decent conversationalist (which is saying a lot, coming from me, as i tend to *hate* talking to people...)

Oh. My. God. Without question the best salon I've been to anywhere in the country. That's right, not just the city or even the state, but the WHOLE ENTIRE COUNTRY. I tend to do some really strange things with my hair, and I do them on a fairly regular basis, so having stylists and colorists that can keep up has always been something of a challenge. If you want the best cut you've ever had, see Sam Kane. If you want the most amazing color, go see Kelsey Caouette. I never give them any directions (Seriously, I tell them to do whatever they want) and I've always been happy as can be afterward. Yes, it's a bit (or a lot) on the pricey side, but this is your hair we're talking about. It's worth it.

Failed us a day before an important event. We had booked a month ahead and got a call back less then a day before the session that the stylist doesn't work there for a week already and they cannot honor the appointment. They suggested other stylists and consultation which we agreed however they said they can only do that after holiday season (2-3 weeks after). We told them that we'd be traveling and we want any other stylist to service us on our booked slot, to which they again refused by making not even an effort to try to accommodate or find a solution. I understand how plans may change, but for one, if the stylist had left the job a week back, I would have expected a courtesy call and a solution and perceived effort from their staff to try to make things work, and not a last minute cold call to tell not to come tomorrow. It wouldn't matter for me how good the final quality would if the business is unreliable and can fail you. I would not recommend anyone with an important event ahead or tight schedule to count on them.

Maria is the best colorist I've ever been to! I've been seeing her every 6 weeks for the whole time she's been at Shag, and my hair always looks exactly how I envisioned it and feels super healthy, despite having gone from dark brown to platinum blonde to silver! Going to Maria feels like you're going to hang out with one of your best friends, while being super pampered and comfortable. Her skills are insane, and she always intuitively knows what will look he best on you. I've referred so many of my friends to her, and they always say "this is the best cut/color i've ever had." and they're right!

I've been a client here for nearly as long as they've been open (10+) years & wouldn't go anywhere else. I actually get complimented on my color all the time - which never happened when I had my hair done elsewhere! :) My first visit was for corrective color and they've been doing it right ever since! I regularly see Patty (color) & Lisa (cut/style), but have had great experiences with Albana & Sam. Honestly, this place is the best!

The cut and color are good quality but the wait time for appointments combined with the odd, "cut on one side, color on the other," booking model make the logistics of getting a simple cut and color a bit too complicated for my liking. I will be going elsewhere where I can book one appointment a week or two in advance and get everything I need done in one appointment.
