Liquid is a great place to go for a cut or new look. I was referred to Alyson by two of my friends (men) and have since gone a number of times and brought my husband as well. I can only speak to her hair cuts for men, but they are consistently spot-on. She listens well to what you want and delivers with a dash of creativity.

I had a difficult time getting Robert to listen to what I was asking for and he was dismissive and seemed uninterested during the entire appointment. I ended up with a very expensive haircut and dye job that I wasn't what I wanted or asked for.

I happened upon Liquid hair salon by chance a couple of years ago when I saw a review on Yelp. Ranelle has been cutting and coloring my hair ever since and I couldn't be happier! I ALWAYS come out of there feeling like a million bucks and have nothing but rave reviews for the entire staff, their choice of Aveda products, and especially the quality of the service. Ranelle definitely has a gift in her craft, but everyone walking out of Liquid always looks fabulous!!!

I had an awesome experience here today with Alyson! I came in with a vague idea of cut and color and she figured out how to get me what I wanted (a lighter shade of red) without bleaching my hair. I have very thick, curly hair and Alyson managed to get me a rockin' and consistent color as well as a super cool asymmetrical cut that manages to somehow look cool AND professional. She's a hair master!

Yikes! I came in with "the worst haircut of my life" and wanted a fix up & a color. I wasn't sure about what I wanted for color, but something natural looking is what we decided on. Robert seemed reluctant to give suggestions, but ultimately we decided on rose gold highlights, blended, fun, but natural enough. Long story short I started to get nervous when we were washing out the dye and he was going on and on about this color he had mixed to put on top of the blonde. It was like he was trying to sell me & himself. Ohhhh boy, I was right to be worried. So when I saw the color, I quickly asked for a very minimal cut and just to work on lightening up the back layers that were really heavy from previously mentioned "worst haircut" I was rocking. I ended up with hot pink hair that looks 2 months grown out. No joke I couldn't even lie to this guy about how bad it was. He couldn't even lie. I didn't pay for my color, but I did end up having to pay for my haircut that was simply a tiny trim! $50?! Get out of here!! My haircut looks essentially the same and I'm pretty peeved about having to shell out money for this cut and color I'll have to get fixed. Ah Robert, I'm so sorry to have to write this because I do feel bad, but unfortunately it's worth a review. Everyone else in the salon seemed to be having nice work done...if that counts!

I just recently went to Liquid to see Toni. I've followed her continuously and only trust her to style my hair. Not only is she awesome to talk with, she's also very passionate about her work. I've come to her with some different needs and she's been able to fulfill them. I'm always afraid I'll never be able to style my hair the way she does, but she always manages to cut my hair so I can easily style it! She's amazing and I totally recommend you make an appointment with her as soon as possible!

The place is only made for white skin and straight hair. Ethnic people: look the other way and go to a Latin or Black salon. They're much more fun anyway. I don't even want to get started on how they receive you in the front (it was a guy with dirty blonde hair I believe). My partner who also went recently not knowing about my experience informed me that he did a walk in and were rude and stand-offish to the point where he didnt even want to bother ever returning again. Bad treatment is the death of a local business, and one that can't be risked or afforded. If y'all love what you do you should learn to treat every customer appropiately not just a certain type of customer.

This place was very cool and different! But I had a hair dresser named Robert who is absolutely horriable! I should've read these comments before going in there! Every bad review is for Robert.. I asked for a trim and what I got was totally not what I asked for! 50 dollars later I end up basically bald with a Snooki poof on the top of my head! It looks absoluty horriable! Not to mention Robert was just plain rude during my whole visit, maybe if he put a smile on his face he would cut cut hair better- ehh probably not, I could probably do better job blind folded! I advise any of you that ever go to Liquid Hair Studios to stay away from Robert! I wish I could get my money back! Thank god I didn't tip him! Ps. @Liquid Hair Studios you should definitely think about firing Robert of revoking his hair dressing license, if he even has one, and have him sweep floors instead of cutting people's hair!

Terrible attitude. Makes you wait. They only squeeze you in so they can make more money. Then they don't ask you to verify what you want done to your hair and end up doing a different procedure for you. They still make you pay for their mistakes, blame you, and don't own up to it. Not a nice environment, and I can hear them talking behind my back. Rude. You deserve this 1-star.

Was a walk in, the owner was absolutely lovely and I adore the place. Had Robert, I’m pretty shy but he was really nice. Hair is a lot shorter than expected but I think that was to help clean it up. Cash only for tips!

Liquid Hair Studios is such an enjoyable experience. The decor is silly and fun, with the disco ball and the Elvis shrine in the bathroom and the glow in the dark stars on the ceiling, and if you go on a Friday they serve wine and cheese. The sinks where they wash your hair aren't the most comfortable, but they do use nice products. And their prices are reasonable (for a cut, anyway). I saw Francesca for several years (she no longer works there)-- she always gave me fantastic cuts, for just $30.

AVOID THIS ONE : one word : BUTCHERY. I asked to simply refresh my layer, the guy (Robert) cut them way too short, now I have a first layer starting at the ears and the rest below my shoulder it's horrible and I wanna cry. Shittiest hairdresser I've ever experienced in my life. Don't go there!

Walk into Liquid in their new location and you think you are in a trendy loft salon in SoHo or Williamsburg. You are immediately greeted by a caravan of greeters, hair washers, and beverage providers, treated royally by the creatively-black-clad staff. My experience usually features some combination of color-cut-blowout by Lilly, and that means she will do a 10-point inspection and give me the best style based on her intuition and knowledge of my hair and lifestyle issues. If I see another stylist, they get all memos. In short, they all know me. And they will all know you, and take care of you and your hair, at Liquid. GO!

I found Lilly at Liquid Hair salon a few years ago! Every time I get my hair cut and highlighted I feel like, this must be my best hair cut and color I have had yet. Lilly really listens to what you want . Also Lilly gives you suggestions when you get in a funk and aren't sure what you want but need a change. Lilly is very smart & excellent at what she does. Lilly takes a lot of pride in making her clients hair look up to date and beautiful.

Just moved to the South End and finding a stylist I can work with is always important when moving. My roommate recommended Shannon at Liquid Hair and I booked an appointment. She was very funny and nice and took the time to understand what I was looking for and didn't rush through my cut as some stylists do for men's cuts. The place is nice and quirky and is dog friendly! If you're looking for a reasonably priced great cut check out Liquid Hair and ask for Shannon!!!!

Michael did a great job with my hair cut and color. And the place is not crazy expensive. They can be really busy on weekends though. Had to get appointment a week in advance for a Saturday. Also, you gotta tip in cash.

I got a training haircut for FREE by Amelia last night, under the guidance of one of the stylists, Sam. I am SO happy with it. She did my bangs perfectly and gave me choppy ends with a slight a-line cut on my long hair. I haven't had a cut this wonderful in a very long time! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

I wanted to get my hair cut today and upon getting turned down elsewhere for a walk-in appointment I checked out the reviews for here. It seemed promising though there were a lot of negative reviews for Robert. I hoped when I went I wouldn't have him. Of course, Robert came right to me and took me back to his chair. He seemed a little abrupt, definitely a personality but the type of authentic, human I've come to appreciate immensely in life. I asked for a short bob. My hair was mid-way down my back. I've repeatedly grew my hair out and cut it again throughout the years; each time I had varying levels of satisfaction with the cut. So I was a little apprehensive as to whether I'd made a good choice. We began to chat as he cut and he turned out to be incredibly kind, intelligent and a great person. He also very much appeared to know what he was doing. As he finished I checked myself out in the mirror. I was pleased with the cut though he definitely left out the bangs I'd shown in the picture I was equally happy with the twist he'd put on it. I'd considered if I'd be okay with less bangs before walking in knowing that stylists often put their own personal design in- it never looks like the picture thats just the ground work idea. Overall pleasantly surprised at the entire visit. I'm glad I find out for myself that those reviews are definitely not an accurate represantation of the Robert I met. A very satisfied customer, I will be returning for touchups and other styles as time ticks on. Thanks Liquid Hair Studios especially Robert!

I absolutely LOVE the fun, creative vibe at Liquid Hair Studios: 80s Betsey Johnson meets 70s Glam Rock! My hairstylist, Brian, also gave me a great haircut. He was big on conversation, small on attitude and my type of person. There are certainly fancier salons in Boston, but none with the "I'M COOL & I LIKE YOU" STAFF here!

Liquid Hair is one of the few Groupon deals I've managed to claim before it expired, and I have to say, thank god I did! Off the bat I loved the funky decor and sparkly stools. I was raised on Hair Cuttery by a frugal mom, so the low prices here made me feel right at home, not to mention the entertaining conversation my stylist and I had about the trials of dating in Boston. In the end my hair came out shiny and bouncy, and so did I.

Came today for the second time to get my hair done by Sam and it’s very very gorgeous and I’m so excited to show all my friends! The picture I based it off of was exactly what I wanted and I was stunned!!! This is my first google review but I don’t know how to share the pictures I took ahh!!! Had my hair dried by Robert who was also very nice and sprayed some very nice smelling styler in my hair. Very fun hip place and everyone I’ve seen who works there is always wearing the coolest things! They also have probably the COOLEST bathroom I’ve ever seen with Elvis memorabilia all over it which to me is incredible. Very nice staff, all very professional. In the past I’ve had bad experiences at other salons and for a while avoided them but I think I found the one for me <3 thank you!!! Highly recommend for anyone looking to add some fun to their do & day!!
