Very friendly staff, the best haircut place for me in Harvard sq area! I have short hair and they do a great job shaping it and getting the correct lengths on top and on the sides.

Sophia has so much experience, she's been here for 20 years now, since 1998, and she does a terrific job at cutting hair. Best fade I've had in Boston. Will keep coming back until I move out to another city. She has such nice vibe too!

My first haircut in America, and I had an experience very similar to Gabe below. Someone recommended this place, and the reviews are great, but it seems the quality of the cut is highly dependent on the person cutting your hair. The man who served me was uncommunicative, didn't pay attention to detail, and when I got home I realised the cut was worse than it first seemed. One of the worst haircuts I've had in the past 10 years. The two stars are for the location and the fact that I didn't have to wait.

No thrills hair salon. Went twice without reservation and never waited more than 15 min. You can come back for a cleanup for free.

What an absolute gem! The value is fantastic, given that a men's haircut runs for only $16, comes with a free cleanup after a week or two, and has a rewards program to give you a discount on every 6th haircut. They take walk-ins, are open Sundays, and are amazingly quick even with a long line of people. Keep in mind that they are cash only. The décor is warm and sunny and the space is clean, comfortable, and pleasant both while waiting and getting hair cut. Sophia in particular is incredibly sweet and is wonderfully skilled at being able to listen to your feedback and give you a perfect cut. This will be my salon of choice as long as I'm in Boston.

Lost me as a customer. After 6 attempts to get a haircut, each time I've been greeted by an hour-plus wait for a single barber. The management is staffing this business very poorly and I will not waste any more time there. I recommend you find another establishment.

I needed a haircut in a pinch and was passing through Harvard Square. I was skeptical that a $16 haircut wouldn't be great. Sophia gave me one of the better cuts ever and was incredibly friendly and appreciative of my business. I'll go out of my way to go back again in a few months.

Been going here for about 2 years now. They definitely take care of their customers, decent price for men's cuts. Simple and cheap. Really enjoyed the consistency they put into cutting my hair which is saying something since I'm asian and have thick straight hair. When you're planning, expect to stay for about an hour (30 min wait, 30 min cut)-ish. Only downside is the price has steadily gone up (from 14>16> now $18). And the cleanup isn't great, so I always head directly home to shower afterwards. If price continues to increase, I may start looking again for a different place, which would be a shame.

Sophia is a wizard. I have very thick hair that requires thinning every time I cut it. This usually involves a razor blade or thinning shears, which are uneven. Sophia has a method with the electric shears that does a fantastic job every time. She is the only person that cuts my hair in Boston.

Make sure you get the right barber for you. I've had hit or miss experiences. Normal haircut, nothing out of the ordinary. Priced at $20 to be competitive with the Harvard Square location but otherwise would not be able to demand such a high price for the quality. Make sure you call ahead and book or go early because the lines with college students can get long.

I always look for cheap haircuts and quick haircuts with no small talk. I keep my standards extremely low because I go to cheap places because I know not to expect a brilliant haircut, so it doesn't take much for the person cutting my hair to make it worth the cheap price. But at this place, I had, by far, the worst haircut experience. I have given myself better haircuts (had no money in college). In fact, I can bet you that a random person off the street would do a better job. All he did was the sides with the machine and then on the top, took literally about 15 seconds with the scissors (I'm not exaggerating). I'm all for quick haircuts but not this (he took less than 5 mins). There was no care to make anything even, or to shape the hair in any way. I have never appreciated a place like Fantastic Sams (and similar) more - the amount of effort they put-in compared to this place is extraordinary. I think the person they have hired has had no training in haircuts. I'm wondering if they were short staffed and just asked a friend to fill in. The only good thing is that he said nothing, no small talk. I absolutely dislike small talk, but I'll bear it if it means I'll get a haircut worth the $16, which like I said before, doesn't require much effort.

I get the sense that people who came in here and didn't have their expectations met did not come prepared in one very simple way. Know what you want. Andre Hair Salon is the not the place you come, sit down and say "give me a haircut, make it look good". They have a high turnover rate, and this kind of request just doesn't fit somewhere that you are paying 14 bucks for a cut. That said, the high & tight I asked for with a number 2-fade around and the asked-for length up top was PERFECT and took less than 15 minutes. Not only that, I once forgot a sufficient amount of cash to pay for my dope cut, and they didn't even make me run to the ATM or anything. "It's fine, next time you're in". Love this place. Quality, speedy, and a quaint atmosphere.
