This company has been in my life for some time now and I was truly torn about writing anything to begin with. My family changed that because they felt I should tell the truth.
There are MANY excellent hair care specialists who take pride in their work and do a fabulous job on your hair. I have left very satisfied every time I get my hair done. There is 24-hour scheduling, multiple locations and various hair care specialists have a range of appointment times to accommodate your schedule. These features drew me in since I am in the medical field and this makes life so much easier.
That being said, you have to take the GOOD with the BAD everywhere.
The BAD news about this establishment is the customer service and lack of regard for you as a person. Although their employees do very good work, customer service appears to be where they are lacking. I have had my hair done by multiple hair stylists there (5 in total during my long history with them) but they all seem to have the same issue- 'respect them & their time/efforts but they can disrespect you.' Moreover, you need to take it and like it if you want to continue business with them.
This has never been said outright but actions speak louder than words. I can not count the times I have been cancelled on at the last minute (less than 1 hour before my scheduled time for non emergencies), left unacknowledged because phone calls were never returned, made to wait more than 30 minutes past my scheduled time (without a simple heads up) or had to wait on a stylist to 'get back to me' when my hair style was already started (past the shampoo, conditioning and hair dryer part of the process).
Despite the issues noted above, I have TRIED to stick with this company because I want to support BLACK owned businesses; hence why I have tried different stylists to see if I can make it work. It appears a majority have the same problems- customer service. I don't believe they have policies in place to combat this since each stylist is their own entity so you just never know what you are going to get when you give them your business. Some visits are fine while others leave you with a sour taste in your mouth. If I did that in my field, I would be under some type of consequences as customer service drives revenue. They don't allow us to represent the company any kind of way. We have a standard to uphold.
As a long standing customer, you would think you would be treated better... I am sadly mistaken. I have tried to remain loyal over the years to keep Black Money in this Black-owned business but, as a consumer, you seem to get variability no matter which location or stylist you see (I have seen 5 different stylists & been to 3 out of their 4 locations). Consistency and customer service is NOT their strong suit. Consumer beware... Expect the worse but pray for the best. That way, you are prepared for whatever you get.
