Nara was also extremely helpful and gentle with my hair. She gave me one of the best scalp massages ever. Overall one of the best hair experiences that I’ve had in a long time. Really enjoyed my first experience at The Edge salon. Everyone was friendly and professional. Loved the head massage during my shampoo, and Anna did a very nice job with my hair. I will consider going back at times when I can’t get my regular stylist (she was out of town which prompted this visit), but The Edge is much more expensive. I normally pay $65 for a regular; The Edge was $80 plus an additional $10 for length. Other than that, really liked it and would recommend them if you’re looking for a new salon.

It's with a heavy heart that I write this. I'm been thinking about writing a review for months. Tonight I decided I needed to. Not only to warn others, but to also help this business because I believe the owner is truly a good person. Which is why this is so difficult. I had pretty decent hair before going to The Edge. It was thick and long... past my shoulders. But I made the crucial mistake of going to The Edge and the texture and health of my hair changed. I don't say this lightly, but the edge stylists have really torn up my hair. So badly, that I now see a dermatologist, and she suggests that I stay with them in the interim until we can sort out the mess. It has something to do with the chemical compounds of the products they use. My hair is slowly getting healthy again, but I may never get my length back. I literally wanted to sue the shop; but it would have been too much trouble. Plus, they do have really good customer service. The owner is a great person. I do take issue the time I talked to my stylist about the damage she caused, she said it was due to my weight loss. Crazy talk, I know. In addition, They are way overpriced. Each time I go, I get the same style, (my stylist, seemingly has no creativity at all). I get the same service, yet the price always differs. Then they have the nerve to ask if I want to leave a tip, after they've over-charged me. It's a shame because the ambiance is fantastic and again, so it the owner. But my experience has not been a good one.

Great staff! on my first visit, i received a complimentary deep conditioning as well as a consultation before beginning the process. Anne Marie gave me good info on how to maintain my natural hair and gave me a trim that actually was a trim (you know how most salons chop half your hair off when you request a slight trim to get rid of dead/split ends) . My hair was healthy and looked great ! i left feeling like a valued client and i will definitely be back!

I am overdue for writing this review as I have been a satisfied client for several years now. I have been going to specialty (read: expensive and impossible to schedule!) curly salons in DC and MD for 15 years and this is the first place that has truly been a "home" for my hair. Most of the clients and stylists are AA but they have known exactly how to handle my fragile multi-ethnic (middle Eastern, 3A-3B) hair. I appreciate that they know how to make my natural curls happy but also can consult on heat styling and chemical options with no judgment either way! AnaMaria is a focused, capable lady and I always know I am in good hands. I would recommend this place as a sanctuary to anyone of any hair texture!

Is my stylist... for almost a year now. She listens to her clients and will add her thoughts to your request. For best results, you want a honest stylist. She's a bit of a perfectionist and cares about hair. That's important! I was there this past Saturday and when she put the finishing touches on my blowout. It turned heads in the salon! I wish I could give a rating of 10 or let's say 20. Mrs. Anamaria transformed my hair and I can't believe how revitalized I feel. I've been wanting to wear my hair naturally for ages and after my transformation today I'm completely hooked. I came in to get flexy rods but she shaped me up, did my eyebrows, and hooked my boys hair up. Ask to see our before and after pictures. It was a complete treat from start to finish. Usually when I go to other salons there are long wait times. Here, I literally booked my appointment on the app and once I got to The Edge, I didn't have to wait. This is a long review already and I haven't even mentioned how elegant and modern the salon is, how nice everyone is, the refreshments they offer you while you are having services done. Ambiance, refreshments, staff friendliness- all absolutely great! Overall welcoming, comfortable environment. Unfortunately, Ana Maria rushed my haircut - and it was my first big chop. She paid little attention to the photo I brought and did not make an effort to gain an understanding of what i wanted. She gave me the same cut she gave my mom a week before. She has little concept of young, hip haircuts. I returned a week later to have the cut fixed. They offered to color my hair at a discounted price for the inconvenience. They were very accommodating - except they over-processed my color and most of my remaining hair had fell out about 2 weeks later. Took them 3 tries to get my color right during that appointment, which explains why it fell out, leaving me with multiple bald spots. I had to cut my hair very, very low. Upsetting when I started with plenty of hair to create any TWA style I wanted. Very nice staff, but nightmare experience overall. The Make-Up girl, is awesome! She rocked my brows.

This review is related to my visit to this salon 1 week ago today. My concerns are related to my services I received and being overcharged. First, when I called to make the appointment, I mentioned right away that I wanted a cut and color to ensure grey is covered etc.. for which I was told the charges would be $60.00 for the cut (which includes shampoo, I asked just to be sure and also during my last visit I got a cut which included shampoo and wrap all under this price) and $80.00 for color. Total approximately $140.00 While at the salon, I was assured the color service would take care of the grey coverage and we proceeded. Never was it mentioned this was an additional cost. More importantly to note, no other additional pricing was discussed other than the initial quote for services. What I got was a cut and color nothing different from what I asked for except she styled my hair (I was fine with the styling and figured this would be the only additional cost, which I was willing to pay). After being at the salon for about 4 hours, My services were finally completed, I went to settle my bill and was jolted into utter shock when I was told my bill was $235.00. For what??? A color, cut and style, OH MY. I was all ready to pay what I was originally quote which was 80 and 60 which should have been 140 plus whatever the additional cost to style. I was charged for grey coverage, highlights, shampoo, and wrap that came up to this obscene amount. Aside from being told the grey coverage would be included in the color service, I was charged for shampooing an wrapping, surely shampooing must be a requirement with cut and color services, right? I think not. As a customer and knowing that this salon charge for services individually, that is why I ask for prices up front so that I am aware of what I’m expected to pay and I am not shocked when it’s time to pay, and I can decide if I want to make an appointment at all. Pricing should not be kept a secret or be piled on after a customer arrives to your place of business. UNACCEPTABLE!!! I contacted the owner and she was very combative and argumentative about the situation trying to justify things. AS I mentioned to her, it would have been nice to know upfront pricing which is what I asked for before coming in. I will never patronize this business ever again based on their business practices and no concessions being made to correct their wrong and deceptive practices of piling on services and charges without the customer being aware. BEWARE! BE AWARE!

AnaMaria is the truth! She slayed the hell out of my bob cut and silk press. I love the fact that she encouraged me to stay natural. She also steamed my hair on the quick fix and gave me a me a cut that was so flawless that I didn’t have to sacrifice natural for a relaxed look. I don’t even have to flat iron my hair to keep the cut or the silked our look. Tousled or styled, AnaMaria gave me a style where I can work out, blow it out, and keep going. I got so many compliments on my cut. Styled or tousled/straightened, it still falls perfectly. I think I may go shorter on my next visit, but most importantly I will visit again. AnaMaria gives you funk or classic AND she doesn’t keep you waiting. Her appointments are precision. I’d recommend her and The Edge any day. Get hip.
