Soo I was looking for a closer salon than the salon I was going to in college park and stumbled upon this little spot. The ambiance is great it modern chic decor is pretty cool and the receptionist was awesome. The lady that did my hair was great she added soo much body to my hair and was very sweet. I paid 45 with the texture of my hair plus deep conditioner. I will be returning this salon is great!

The receptionist is sweet. The ladies are as well. Overall I had a good experience was a little skeptical at first because I like my hair left withm a little but of a curl because it falls so quickly. I wasn't too happy with the flip I almost left with but she said "No mammi..we do how you like" and she fixed it.. Also this is my first Dominican salon in which they used any type of oil product when blowing out my hair.. I still had body when I left but it was different.. will I return..probably will. The location is very close to my residence. S/n..bring cash tips for the ladies...

First time visiting and and doing a flex rod style..it was a walk in I must say they atmosphere the owner and employees they are just phenomenal. The wait wasn’t long excellent job on my hair also they have organic products for your hair so ladies I highly recommend especially if your big on hair care as I am. Y'all doing a great job....sometimes too much chat chat with each other and not with customer! Overall, from CiCi in front to the ladies in the back...good work! I've been coming weekly for last month, experimenting with styles, wrap vs blow dry to find my best solution for my hair type. Found my preferences in the stylists. Find what works for you...don't hate..I've seen some amazing transitions...amazing grand finales. Kudos for the Easter Sunday decor and feast! See y'all tomorrow! MsV

i just moved from ny, so i am very skeptical about who does my hair. Salon 809 offers some pretty good deals, 25.00 on tuesday and wed. i love love how my hair looks and it seems to be growing ( not breaking). CICI is the bomb, beautiful personality. everyone does hair pretty good to my surprise.My reason for giving 4 stars, it bothers me that they have to use flat iron and blow out, whats the point of roller setting to do that. Im nervous of heat damage. ive always been natural ,and in newyork i got the same affect with just a blow out... other wise everything here is perfect.

The manager behind the desk is so nice, I hardly come in but she still always remembers me. Here they really pay attention to what matters to the client..Angela makes sure to not put too much heat on my hair (roots only) and goes above and beyond to make sure it still looks good even without the extra heat, I love love love! Only suggestion I could make is that the shampoo ladies don’t tear through my tangles and are more gentle to avoid creating split ends! I cringe when that’s happening, but that’s everywhere, I try detangling before I go to help. Otherwise I would gladly wait however long it takes because since visiting 809 I won’t go anywhere else!

I have been going to this salon every week for several months now and I love it! Miss CeeCee the receptionist is a very pleasant and entertaining lady. She gives great advice on how to manage my hair and she is such a sweetie! I happened to stop in the salon just because it was close to where I live. I was dreading to leave my salon in college park but the commute was killing me. Little did I know, Angela is now working at this salon, so I didn't have to change my stylist! The ambiance of the salon is clean and serene. The owner is very nice and all the ladies that work in the salon from the shampoo girls to the stylists are FANTASTIC! I have recommended several friends and they all love it just as much as I do. Kudos Salon 809!

THE FIRST THING I ASKED THE SHAPOO LADY WAS IF THE PRODUCT SHE WAS GOING TO USE HAD COCONUT IN THEM. SHE ASSURED ME THAT SHE WILL USE ONE WITH NO COCONUT. SHE DETANGLED AND DEEP CONDITIONED MY HAIR . I HAD TO WAIT A GOOD 30 MIN TO GET MY HAIR PRESSED. SILK PRESS ONLY LASTED ME A DAY.FAST FARWORD TO LAST FRIDAY , I WASHED MY HAIR AND I NOTICED THAT MY HAIR WAS FALLING OFF, I CALLED AND LET THEM KNOW ABOUT IT AND I WAS YOLD THE OWNER WILL CALL ME BACK AND ITS BEEN 4 DAYS AND I HAVENT RECEIVED A CALL .

I’ve been here twice. But I didn’t tell them that, I wanted to see how much they would charge me for my hair because last time they charged me an additional $15 but this time they charged an additional $20. The roll and set was supposed to be $45 but when I looked at the receipt it said $65. Mind you my hair is normal length and I came there with my hair combed out.The lady who shampooed my hair couldn’t even tell me why the price had jumped up so much and she said it was her boss JEIMY who added on the new charges. Not only that but I sat under the dryer for 1 hour then had to sit in the waiting area for an additional hour and a half before I just got up, removed the rollers out of my head and paid for the shampoo I recived before leaving. Also, while I was leaving another lady was entering. She asked why her daughter had to pay extra for the hair style she received. She said they charged her daughter $60 when it should have been less. One of the workers had to call her boss over the phone and after speaking they had to give the lady a portion of her money back. The whole experience was just so unprofessional the boss saw how crowded it was and still left without even lending a hand... All she wants to do it add additional charges to your hair style so it can be more money in her pockets and that’s no way to do business! I arrived at 2:26pm and left at exactly 5:19pm I was there for 3hrs and the only service I had received was a shampoo. Also, While I was sitting I watched and recorded one of the workers whos booth is behind the front desk and wears black glasses and has long browinsh/blonde hair flat iron this lady’s hair piece by piece almost 5-6 times each trying to make it as straight as possible. That can seriously damage somebody’s hair. You should never have to flat iron pieces of hair for that long. So beware and understand that you will spend about 4 hours in here just to get a simple blow out! The boss will sit around on the computer and not help anyone out and then she’ll make excuses as to why this behavior occurred. I’m never coming back here again!

My sister referred me to this salon. I was a bit nervous but her hair was always beautiful. The salon decor is very nice. I got a warm welcome by the receptionist and was sent on my way to the shampoo area with my super kinky and tangled 4c hair. My shampoo girl Ada was great she washed, conditioned and combed my hair out. No complaint tugging or pain I was shocked. Then I sat in Angela’s chair where she proceeded to blow dry my ball of kinks into soft and unbelievably straight hair. Afterward she checked to see if I wanted curly, straight, middle or side parts and even offered but did not force a trim which I took. All I can say my experience here was superb and I will be back.

This is a great salon to get a wash & set, or blow out. I have been to several salons in the area & this one is worth the cost. The stylist Josephine was nice. She used just enough heat to get my hair straight and not leave my hair damaged. My scalp wasn't on fire when she was done. I will definitely be back. They have EXCELLENT specials on Monday & Tuesdays. I'm glad I gave them a try. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the wait time was rather excessive & the "next client" system dosen't work.

They just completely ruined the natural hair I've been growing out for almost 4 years. I have almost 2 inches of straight ends now so have to essentially do another big chop after getting just 2 blowouts here. I DO NOT RECOMMEND for anyone with natural hair.

I think they do good work... really give you a great shampoo... but you need to go on Tuesday or Wednesday when they have their specials.... other than that, they can be a little pricey then other salons... Cee Cee is a dear heart....give good customer services. The salon itself is well kept. I have recommend to others.

My older sister recommended this salon so I decided to go this past Sunday. Her hair always looks so beautiful and she said it's healthier than it's been in a long time. She's been going for the past year. I did have to wait a little while because there was one client ahead of me and there was only one stylist. But babyyy let me tell you, it was worth the wait! I am so in love with my hair. The stylist (Angela) gave me a really good trim and now I have no more split ends. My hair is kinda short but it's layered and it just looks good! I'm natural (3BC4A) but I want to wear it straight. It's shiny, bouncy, and it flows. I can't stop running my fingers through it! I recommend this salon to everyone. CeCe, the receptionist, is so nice and very personable. On top of doing great hair, they're about to add micro-blading to their list of services. My sister said she plans to get it done and I would like to also. I finally found a place to get my hair done exactly the way I want it, and I will be a regular client. Thank you, Angela!

UNPROFESSIONAL... I wanted to share that normally this salon charges $30 and up on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but during the holiday season they charge$45. That was strike 1 but I figured if they did a good job it would be worth it. Then I waited a half an hr. It was 5 people working and 2 people washing and rolling hair. I finally make it back but Iam told that I went out of order and the lady who has been on her phone the entire time was really next... Did someone say I should leave, too many strikes! Only one person greeted me the entire time everyone else was busy talking! Bye never again!!!

This is the 1st time I am ever leaving a review on anything so here goes! I was used to going to a Dominican hair salon in college park, but since i moved in this area i decided to google a salon near me. Salon 809 popped up, the 2 reviews were good so i decided to give it a try. 1st off, i called and CeeCee was of great help over the phone which made me want to try them out even more! 2nd, it was less than 10mins from my house. 3rd, when i arrived inside, the welcome i received from the owner was warm and friendly, the decor was beautiful and the wait time was not long! 4th, in addition to their great customer service, a drink is being offered to you- complimentry! 5th, suprisingly the young lady who did my hair just happened to work at the other salon where i used to go in CP! What a great coincidence it was which made me feel more comfortable. I was abosolutly pleased with the end results and i defintly will recommend this salon to others in the area and will most definitly visit there again! :)

The only thing i didnt care for was the paper flyer/poster of the no cell phones and the specials posted all over the wall..such a classy place maybe put the cell phone post in nice pic frames idk..over all that wont stop me from referring other to come here.. I started off with a bad hair day and I ended up feeling like I could take over the world my hair felt so amazing and I have been natural hair. They did an outstanding a complete outstanding job. Although I did like my hair I was dissatisfied with the service provided. I went on a Sunday which the salon opens at 10am. I arrived around 10:20am and there were a couple of ladies waiting in front of me and several already having their hair washed and so forth. The initial wait was not terribly long. I did get a deep condition added which did not appear to be any different than a regular conditioner - but I'm not sure. My problem was the order of individuals served. The process from start to finish is unorganized. The receptionist is unable to keep order of the clients due to having to complete other tasks as well as provide assistance to the stylists. They do not track the time you arrive so there for when it's time for a shampoo they simply say next and it is up to the clients & receptionist (if she's available) to know who needs to go back. This is a problem when clients decide to go out of order. Basically long story short I was there for almost 4 hours for a blowout (which I was actually given a wash & set). Several of the individuals that came after me receiving the same service left BEFORE me due to the flow being so unorganized. Very limited stylists available which makes for a longer than normal wait time, my stylist did not use a brush when blowing drying (?). Although I'd like to go back to support this salon I think I'll wait until they are able to update their flow. My suggestion would be to add a time slot when clients sign in as well as possibly giving numbers and communicating with the stylists the number - or even adding it to the ticket. Organization will definitely help make things smoother. Several other individuals complained of the same issues.

This place is addictive! I come every 2-3 weeks to get my hair blown out! Great customer service and the shampoo ladies are amazing! They will scratch the soul out of your hair! (and thats a good thing) I always have my favorite stylist (Mercy) do my hair! And she leaves it bone straight and manageable! And the style last for a long time too! You wont regret coming here!

Not only did this place charge extra for the thickness of hair, I have reason to believe they put relaxer in my hair! After washing my hair my ends were completely straight and felt mushy!! I am completely natural and never has my hair ever felt like this after a blow out. I've heard stories about Dominican salons secretly putting relaxer in shampoos but this is completely unacceptable. My hair is completely destroyed. STAY AWAY! If I can I will contact the better business bureau.

The salon is very pretty certain employees are very nice I didn’t enjoy all of my service I enjoyed the stylist but my hair washer /roller setter I did not enjoy she wasn’t attentive to my hair she just was scrubbing my hair ruff and loading it with shampoo while haven a conversation with one of the other worker I left with my shirt soak and wet do to her spraying me with water she didn’t offer to at least dry my shirt or give me a new gown being as though she completely drench me in water my ears had a lot of water in them when she was rolling my hair she notice that I had dry scalp which is fine if I do so she took the rollers out and took me back to the shampoo bowl for and additional 3 more washes on top the 3 she had already did after that I wasn’t drenched again in water next took me to her roller station and put all different size rollers in my hair so she could put me under the dryer quickly at this point I’m annoyed because I’m soak and wet l finally finished drying my hair.The stylist was very nice she gave me exactly what I wanted young lady at the front desk did not inform me that there would be and additional 20 dollar charge because of my hair length and density which I thought was absurd you tell people those kinds of things before they receive service in case that’s something that they don’t want to pay .Salon beautiful but staff can use a little retraining

They have a special on blowouts tues and wed (i think. .. i always forget even though I keep the flyer on my fridge). First come first served no appointment needed so you may be waiting a while because they get pretty busy! Great service, clean professional and very personable. I always go to the same person Tried a different shampoo lady once and lets just say my hair wasn’t washed very well. So Jackie (i think her name is- ill update on my next visit) sat me back under the water and washed my hair (long and natural) correctly! She tries to help me out price-wise and because of that I make sure I tip her! I don’t trust anyone with my hair — but I’ll go to no one else but her now. I normally just get a wash blowout and ends trimmed so nothing extravagant for me. And since my hair is natural and long they do charge me more (understandable) but a little misleading since the special says a flat rate. Again understandable and im used to it by now. Once my hair touches water ppl become shocked cause they think I have a relaxer, thats when the price goes up.

This is a beautiful salon with very pleasant and friendly staff. CeeCee the receptionist keep me coming back. She goes out her way to make customers feel special and helps out where she can. Angela is a wonderful stylist with good customer service. But on the last few visits the wait has been tremendously long. Today, I waited 1.5 hours to get shampooed. I started to leave but Cee Cee stopped me in my tracks. A customer with her hair pre-washed from home was lucky enough to move in front of the 5 customers that have been patiently waiting. Something about this seems unfair. My biggest complaint is with management, you need more help at the shampoo stations and additional stylist. Our time is precious and we don't want to spend 3.5 to 4 hours at your salon getting a typical wash and set. With a bit tweaking this could be a great salon.

i really like going to them and i typically spend years with one salon. however they're hours just do not work with my work schedule ever. they close so early. i live in pasadena maryland so already the travel for a simple hair appointment is a bit much. Also their wait time is always long, never in and out service. they are really nice down to earth people. i just hate that i wont be able to continue to go to them much longer.

My first time coming... I've gone to Dominican Salons before in another state, so I'm not new to the experience. I gave 4 stars only because I was charged extra to comb out tangles. I tried to explain that my hair tangles easily but it seems the stylist did not understand me. I also was there for about 4hrs on a Saturday, but as a walk in, I expected that. I was, however, pleasantly surprised because I've always had just a wash/ blow dry because I thought my hair would not get straight with a roller set. I was proved WRONG!...lol. I'm natural (4a type) and left with straight, silky hair. So despite the long time and the extra money, my hair turned out great. I would recommend going on the "special" days as the services can be pricey.

Used to go here a lot to blow out my hair. Its a really great place, the customer service is great and you always feel comfortable here. The BEST part of this establishment is that they have arranged oils (jaboba, olive, Jamaican black, etc) that you can add to the conditioner that the stylists are washing your hair with. You feel like your hair is really getting treated well here.

I’ve been going here for awhile now and am usually pleased with my service, but 5/16/19 was a different story. Stylist Ava or Eva who sits in the middle chair on the left side of the salon was terrible with my hair. I simply asked her to put a lot of heat protectant on my hair because I’ve had damage before. She proceeds to put the flat iron to my hair without spraying heat protectant on my hair and when I corrected her on it she says “oh my God” with an attitude. She was so busy chatting with the other stylist that my request went to the wayside. Thank God I’ve grown up because when she said that I had to fight the urge to slap the piss out of her. This is my money being spent and I expect my request to be tended to.

I shy away from salons because of bad experiences. I decided to give this place a try. Found by coincidence was getting my nails done and decided to check it out. Being going to Ramona ever since. She's gentle, listens to what you want, and does a great job. The rest of the ladies that work there are pretty friendly and the owner is very nice. So give them a try if ur looking for some place new. You can bring your own conditioner too!
