I have had 2 very different experiences at Possibilities Hair Salon regarding short haircuts: a fairly decent experience at my first appointment and a disappointing experience during my follow-up appointment thereafter. I think this stylist has potential, but she should focus on listening to her client's needs better by spending more time cross-checking her cuts rather than trying to sell extensions.
Despite loving my previous stylist, I decided to find a salon that was closer to where I lived and was happy to find that Possibilities received high praises in a magazine's "best of" list, stating that it provided the "best short haircuts" in the area. So, I called and asked for an experienced "short haircut" stylist and was referred to a young stylist with a nice funky hair style (usually a good indicator of a fearless short hair stylist- which I like). At my first appointment I had to wait more than 20 minutes to get into a chair because my stylist was pushing hard for her current client to buy extensions (which she did). Then, after a nice shampoo and condition, my stylist spent about 10 minutes on my short hair and just razored everything- the cut turned out okay. She spent almost as much time cutting my hair as she did trying to convince me to get extensions (I had to say no thank you... multiple times). She spent less than 1 minute styling it and said "You can style it how you like." So, I did - little did I know I would get charged for her 1 minute of styling. On my second appointment, the same stylist's chair had hair in it and the floor around the chair hadn't been swept yet. My stylist definitely spent less than 10 minutes- maybe 7-8 minutes at best- cutting my hair. Needless to say I didn't spend the extra money for styling this time. She pushed to sell extensions (again, no thanks). She then asked me to check my own haircut without a mirror (mirror, please, thank you.). She was practically at the check out counter ready to charge me when I requested her to trim certain areas (the ones I actually asked to be cut in the beginning). She was so hasty in trimming the additional areas that she butchered one side of my hair. My hair was so heavy in certain areas and cut too much in others that I've had to let it grow out so that I can go back to my old stylist to get it fixed, even if she is an hour away instead of 5 minutes away. Very disappointed.
For $40 not including tip, I expect more than a 8-10 minute substandard haircut. I could spend half that at a major discount haircut chain for the same cut. I would rather pay $30 more for 60-75 minutes of hair care, cutting, and styling and receive an excellent haircut.

CONS:
- Stylist pushes extensions too much
- Less than 10 min in the chair with stylist
- Stylist does not cross-check work
- Hasty, sometime poor cutting decisions
- Poor final styling skills
