Today was my first time walking into Melania salon. First impression it’s Saturday should be busy it wasn’t. No greet or that warm welcoming at the door. Waited about 20-30mins just to get a simple hair cut. Now She did do good with the hair cut I want. They do like to gossip about the customers. They will tell one price and then charge your another price pay cash not credit card.Overall I was satisfied with my hair style just work on greeting customers at the door.

3/2/2013 - I went there today for my first time. I wish I discovered it sooner. I live right down the street and always thought it was only a barber shop until an associate told me about it. I really like what they did with my hair. The price was reasonable; $55 including trim and I have very long natural hair. I normally pay $60 plus with no trim because of my hair length. The only downside was that there is that wasn't very welcoming. I just stood there and then someone just pointed to an empty seat. I don't know if it because of a language barrier or cultural norm. This is the third Dominican Salon I have been to and they all did the same thing. But all-in-all, I really liked what they did and would go back. You might not get the "warm and fuzzies" but you will get a great wash and set!!!

When she decided to open her own business I was thrilled b/c I knew that she was going to be able to extend her services. And she has! One of the things that she recommended that I started to do for my hair was get Keratin treatments. I’ve doing for 3 years! My hair is super healthy, I get compliments all the time

I have only been to Melania Hair Design once and will go back. Five stars ! I have really thick hard to manage natural hair that shrinks and tangles. The young lady that did my hair was exceptional in the way she combed out my hair without tugging & pulling. There was a language barrier but I was surprised that after the shampoo and steam treatment, she was able to comb through my hair with ease. . I reviewed one comment that was really negative and disturbing & personally attacking the owner's daughter. Some things just should not be said in a public forum, better yet not at all to publicly shame. As a child I was told that I had nappy hair. My grandmother started pressing my hair at the age of three. You know that light bright and almost white attitude, so they wanted my hair bone straight. Different strokes for different.

I felt I was going through a car wash or assembly line. The price are ridiculously high and never the same . Arent the prices supposed to be listed. She doesn't know how to color or cut.BASIC . Charge me $250 to color my hair and it was horrible , then want to charge me to change it.

When I first came here it was ok because the owner would greet you nicely and ask you what you need done ... of course I speak a little bit of Spanish but sometimes they do be talking about you when they do your hair and if your in a rush to get in and out don't bother to come here unless you want to wait about 1 hour ....... I only come to here because they do a good job on my thick long hair and I'm very choosey who I let touch my hair

They blew out my hair very well but they trimmed my hair way too short and workers were very rude and gossiped to each other way too much. They gossip about clients thinking they don't speak and comprehend spanish. I went there twice and got charged two different prices for the same request. Very Unorganized.

I usually frequent this salon and typically get Raquel that does a GREAT JOB. Sunday I went into the salon and hid a “restoration treatment” for $130. The process started with a simple wash and then she had me sit in the chair. She then wrapped the flat iron on aluminum foil and began to place this product in my hair. She then too then began to flat iron my hair with the product on my hair. My hair was sizzling when I asked her was this ok she assured me that it was. Melania said I needed the treatment due to my hair being bleached. I agreed to the treatment but when it was completed I expected to have a better result. She cut my hair about 3 inches, HORRIBLE SHE BUTCHERED MY HAIR VERY CHOPPY. I am utterly disappointed. This treatment did not work at all. My hair is exactly the same. The Restoration treatment did not work. I won’t be returning I really trusted them and at the end of the day I feel like I was scammed. If you go to Melania Hair Design ONLY LET RAQUEL DO YOI HAIR.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!. The owner gave a price over the phone for wash, haircut and blow dry and when she was done she charged $25 more than the price given to me on the phone. Her excuse was," I don't remember saying that". Customer service was horrible and rude. The only person who deserved a tip was the lady who washed my hair. Not only did the Owner Melania never apologize for giving false price information, she stared to cut my hair and mid way handed me off to another lady to finish cutting my hair while she went to a sit across to watch TV. Who does that? VERY unprofessional.
