I've used Fabulocs off and on for several years now for loc maintenance. In the beginning I was a repeat customer at the Capitol Heights location, seeing the same stylist over multiple visits...but I stopped going for a while and I lost track of the stylist I was using. Recently I started going again, once to Capitol Heights and then most recently to Woodmore. The stylists at Capitol Heights always did a decent job so I thought I would try Woodmore because they had an opening on a Sunday that worked with my schedule. First problem, the stylist called me 15 minutes prior to my appointment (I was already enroute) to tell me she was running a hour behind. Second issue, she was overly chatty, asked way too many personal questions while doing my hair, and then proceeded to sing along with the sound system when my conversation wasn't enough. Third issue, when my hair was finished I had a bunch of caked up white stuff around my edges which she said was edge control gel and I could just wipe it off. Fourth issue, I paid and didn't get a receipt and she told me to check my credit card statement for one. And the final most important issue was when I got home and looked in the mirror I saw that her interlocking technique left a distinct "Y" shape at the base of each loc. I'm no expert but it appears she went through the same opening each time she pulled my loc through the base. Not the proper way to do interlocking. I will never let this stylist near my hair again. Someone at Fabulocs should make sure each stylist knows how to interlock in a manner that won't damage a person's hair. Loctitians are not licensed by the state. Beware.

I have been going to Fabulocs for over a year and I can say that my hair is heathier and more resilient now than it has been in 5 years. My hair health is the result of my stylist, Phanessa. She is talented, knowledgeable, and responsive when it comes to each of her client's needs. As other posters have stated, it is a little difficult to get appointments . Yet, at least with the stylists I have dealt with, to me it is a testament to their commitment in keeping their clients happy. I would suggest booking a first time appointment weeks in advance or try stopping by during a weekday.

For almost three years, Krystle King has been my natural hair stylist. She is always extremely professional and exhibits excellent customer service. Additionally, I have extremely thick hair and, not everyone has the patience to handle it, but Krystle is patient, personable, thorough, and takes the time to address any hair care concerns I may have and also recommends feasible hair care solutions. Since going to Krystle, my hair has become exceptionally healthy and I receive numerous compliments on her beautiful and intricately designed hairstyles. I would recommend Krystle King and the Fabulocs Hair Salons to anyone looking to meticulously maintain their natural hair.

I've had good experiences with the stylists at Fabulocs. Sade is a gem and a joy. She gets 5 stars from me, however, I'm a little put off by the owner's responses to comments here. I came to look up something for a friend and possible make an appointment for next week but I'm beyond hesitant. Again, my experiences with Sade have been wonderful. The owner may want to think twice about the Tone used when responding to other customers. Perhaps hire a social media manager who can strike a better balance.

the style looked great! but she didn't do a good job washing my hair. when I asked her if my hair is supposed to itch she told me it's ok to scratch it. like all salons you have to know who a little bit about who you're going to see.. some are undeniably better stylists than others. that's life. I just didn't get one of the best and that's why I never came back.

As the owner of Fabulocs, my job is to ensure that every customer is receiving outstanding service. When I read a negative review, I can't help but to think, "How could I have intervened to be sure this customer received the service that everyone expects at Fabulocs? I have found that though we see roughly 300 customers a week and most of our customers are repeat, satisfied clients, the few that write reviews, never ask to speak to a manager or to me. When I try to contact them, they never answer or call back. It seems unusual. I will go out of my way to make sure customers are accommodated and treated well. We are happy to eliminate stylist that are unable to provide good customer service so please be sure to ask to speak to me in the future.

I've attempted several times to get an appointment with this salon, but no luck at all. First time I visited the salon as a walk-in and barely got greeted. I get it, everyone is busy, ok... Moments later, one of the stylist at the shampoo bowl finally greeted me and she immediately asked if I had an appointment. I told the stylist I did not have an appointment. I asked if the salon was appointment-based and she told me that they were appointment-based. She never asked what service I needed- I only need a trim. She advised me to take a business card located at the front desk, and that the person who handles appointments had stepped out and that she would be able to further assist me if I call the salon's number because the salon's calls were accessible to that person. Mind you, when I looked at the business card, it clearly stated "walk-ins". I called while I was there at the salon. No answer- went to voicemail. So fast forward to today (3 weeks later), I attempt again and called the salon... call got forwarded to a voicemail not associated with the salon's number. So I'm assuming the salon's calls were forwarded to an employee's cellphone. Left a message, no call back. Tried again several hours later- sent straight to voicemail. I can't rate their quality of work, but the fact that I can't even book an appointment already set the tone for me. Kinda disappointed to say the least.

Fabulocs is superior in customer service! They value me as a customer by always respecting my time and providing excellent hair care and hair styles. I often want something different and I always get what I ask for. When I'm not so sure of how I want my hair styled, my stylist is always able to make a viable recommendation based on events that I may have coming up. I am a long-time customer (more than 10 years) and I plan to continue!

I have natural 4C very dry brittle hair. I just cut my locs off and went to fabulocs salon for a trim. First off let me say i book appointment online. When I walk in no one to greet you I literally had to go find someone and ask for help. So then The guy shampoo my hair fine but use a small tooth comb to detangle my hair with no detangle products. Then the stylist took a small tooth rat tail comb to comb through my hair to trim it was hurting so bad. But she is just saying sorry. She had no clue how to deal with my natural 4c short hair. I have thin edges and she slick them down and it made me look bald. She did not know how to fluff or pick the edges out to look full. I was crying all the way home and thought I had to shave my head but I redid my hair before shaving and wala I had a full head of hair that she kept slicking down I wasted $100 for a trim shampoo and conditioner and style (twist out) that had my hair still dry and looking bald. if you have a twa tiny winie afro you pick out the hair even the sides not to slick it down. I would never recommend this place to no natural hair person with tight kinky curly hair. So the stylist name was Theodora and when she said $100 my stomach drop. I said this is not worth the price you said @ first and this is not worth $100. She looks back @ her screen and said well this is what it say you owe so you have to pay. She see im not happy and she even look at my hair it ugly but nothing i can do so you have to pay cause i don't make the prices. So i paid and left.

Kelly serviced my locs. She was quite competent with a gentle hand for my tenderheadedness. Loved the "industrial chic" decor. Felt like a valued customer. I've no complaints and for sure I'll return to Fabulocs for my future maintenance and styling. So glad that you are "Fab..."!

I went to get two strand twist in my hair, needless to say they didn't last one night of dancing. When I called I was promised a re-do by the stylist. This never happened, I called numerous times and to no avail. I never went back, not doing my hair again.

My five star rating is not necessarily for the salon however it is for my stylist Krystle King. I have been a client for almost two years. As a stylist, myself, it is very important that I receive great customer service. Krystle has always been very professional, timely and very creative when styling my hair. I find that she is a no nonsense person when giving you advice for your hair. Krystle has not only given me some of the most complementary styles she has also advised me when she did not think the style would be best. For that reason, I will continue to support her as a stylist. Thank you for keeping me looking my best.

Let me be clear in saying that my first experience was great and the proceeding 2nd experience is not on the establishment itself. Went in for a wash and deep condition. I have thick 4C high porosity hair and had no issues with my stylish Parris. I had no issues with pulling or detangling and she was fast. I will book again with her when my schedule permits. My second experience with Theodora made me want to cry. Yes, I am tender headed but an experienced stylist or someone who has dealt with my texture of hair would know what NOT to do. I came in for a color and 2 big braids, something I thought was going to be quick and simple. Something told me to get up and walk out after the other stylists were getting on her for her measuring out the color and were asking why she was using that specific brand of color. After washing out the color I discovered that the left front portion of my hair still had greys- she offered to redo the section and i would have agreed if i hadn't been there for almost 3 hours at that point. At this time I'm frustrated and ready to leave but continued on to get my hair detangled- that was a mistake being that she picked up paddle brush to detangle 4C hair and I had to stop her and instruct her to use the Denman instead. Later when I told my cousin of this she commented that an experienced stylist would have used a wide tooth comb which would have saved me from this throbbing headache. Continuing on, remind you that I have high porosity hair so my hair drinks water, and not even a quarter of the way through my hair needs to be refreshed with water in order to handle it properly and I had to ask her to do so. When the time came to pay she said that she'll take $20 off the final price. I asked how can you charge me for 2 boxes of color when my hair wasn't even fully dyed all the way around. She then remarked that each stylist is an independent contractor and set their own prices when i asked about the difference in what was said over the phone and my previous experience. In the end I'm horribly dissatisfied. If I would have read the review that Nikki had written I never would have allowed the booker to book my appointment with Theodora. It's frustrating thinking that you found somewhere to trust and to leave fearing your hair is in worst shape than when you walked in. Word of advice for anyone with my type of hair.... ask questions about the stylist's PROFESSIONAL experience and years before booking- and don't askthe stylist.

What I mean is the new stylist, I overheard two stylist talking about clients present in the shop while I was seating in the chair. Also the stylist that did my hair didn't do my hair as I told her. Instead she kept saying that's not how that style go.

I have been a Fabulocs (Lanham) customer and Sade Ajala client for nearly a year. I don't know where I would be if I had to navigate this natural hair journey without Sade's knowledge, skill and experience. She has been a godsend. She's been extremely helpful in assisting me in choosing styles that I like and are good for my hair. She's never tried to bully me into a style. If she makes a suggestion and I like it fine and if she makes a suggestion I don't think I'm ready for she's fine with that too. She throughly answers my questions even once I've left the salon. There have been plenty of times I've texted her questions and she's always gotten back to me in a timely manner. I have no complaint about my experiences with Sade or my time in the salon. I highly recommend Sade to anyone looking for top notch haircare from a warm and caring professional. Sade rocks!

This is a really nice salon centered around caring for natural Afrocentric hair. If you are looking for a silk-press, keep looking; but if you are a naturalista who wants a break from YouTube tutorials and self-styling, this is definitely the spot. I called this morning to get an appointment for two-strand twists, and was able to be seen almost immediately. I saw Tiffany, who is a very knowledgeable stylist, and I love how my hair turned out. The salon was clean, professional looking, and well-maintained. Also, the prices were very reasonable. I will definitely be back!

They have a sign on the door that says WALK-ins, it was 2:45 pm and I was turned away. A stylist was kind enough to suggest products for my hair. I ended up at Evangel off Watkins drive they accept walk-ins and my hair turned out great at an affordable price

I went to this place during the summer for a braid out on my hair and it was horrible. Not to mention the price was way too high because the style was not worth it. It was a younger girl who did my hair and she didn't seem proffesional. She would talk about her customers and complain about them. When she finished my hair, I looked as if I had Corn rows in my hair getting ready for a sew in. My hair did not even crinkle or get wavy from the braids. I could have saved my $65 and I could have did my hair myself and have it come out way better. I was very upset and will not go there again..All what she probably want is money anyway.

If I could give them a negative stars I would, this is the second time I have gone to this salon and both times not even remotely happy with what they did. Now, I have to have a friend who does hair redo the mess a distracted hair dresser did. No other salon will touch this mess. If anyone knows of a natural hair salon were the stylist actually listen to the clients and the salon cares about the professional behavior of the stylists let me know. I will never go back to Fabulocs, I gave them there last chance. THE WORST!

I was seen by Sade Ajala. I guess I was her last patron at 1:30 and she was ready to go home to a bottle of wine ( from the conversation between her and the receptionist). My hair got washed, she sat me in her chair with water dripping down my back and went to the bathroom. All without a word to me. Apparently asking for a hand mirror qualifies as "interfering with my creative process". Asking that my tightly coiled type 4c hair be blow dried straight before my haircut got me the response "I have been cutting hair for 20 years, I can cut it wet or dry". Never mind that my hair shrinks to about 90% of its length when wet. She blow dried it, finger coiled it. Sat me under the dryer. I asked her to separate the coils since I don't like the spaced out look. She did... only in the front! Needless to say, this is the second time I have tried fabulocs and am leaving dissatisfied . Never again.

I've been going to Fabulocs since September of 2016. The salon in Woodmoore is a great location. Plenty of parking. Personalized service. And they respect your time which I really appreciate. Sade Ajala is a talented stylist. She will work with you to make all your natural hair dreams come true. Her creativity knows no bounds. She often goes over and beyond to give you guidance when you need it. I'm grateful to be working with her. She is part of why Fabulocs is what it is. The staff is also great and the atmosphere is quite cool.

I was looking for a natural hair salon to deal with my kinky breaking hair and was referred by a friend. I was very skeptical because ive had so many terrible experiences with my hair. I wanted to write this review because I am so glad to have found a place that actually understands my hair type. I am not sure who my regular stylist will be but the lady that worked on me did a great job. Id like to try out a few people before making a final decision. I use to go here regularly 2 years ago however, I stopped once I learned how to upkeep my hair. I recently decided to pamper myself and get my hair done. Needless to say, I was very disappointed leaving Fabulocs. I asked the stylist Krystal to style my hair with two strand twist and flat twist. When she began doing my hair half way through she stated that flat twist wouldn't look right in my hair because of my edges. At that point I felt very offended I already knew that my edges were a little damaged from extensions I put in my hair about 3 months ago and because of giving birth several months ago my hair has started to shed. However, Krystal was very impersonal and did not make me feel good about my hair at all and seemed annoyed while she was styling my hair. I understand that my hair is not the healthiest but, it's definitely not the worse. I was running late to my hair appointment I did call in advance to inform her. I felt rushed and did not like my hair! No person should ever go to get their hair done and feel like they could have done a better job. A style that typically last 3 weeks in my hair only lasted 1 week. Unfortunately I will not be going back here to get my hair done.

I had a good experience at capitol heights and then a horrible one at Lanham. I left an honest review on Facebook about how the stylist at Lanham was inexperienced and ripped out and over heated my hair. They responded by blocking me on Facebook. Don't trust this salon. No integrity and inconsistent care for your hair. I was actually about to book at capitol heights when I realized they block negative reviews on Facebook. Now I can't see myself going back

Nicole the hairdresser was professional and the hair salon was clean. The receptionist was on her cellphone texting when I arrived for my appointment. The price for a re twist of my locs was $75. And that did NOT come with a style. If you wanted a style it was an additional charge.

I had an appointment today with Krystal. I arrived on time and was asked by a friendly face (on the side of the salon opposite the door) who I was there to see. I told her "Krystal." She asked me to have a seat and told me Krystal would be with me shortly. I had never seen Krystal before, so, as a first-time client, I assumed she would eventually come over to greet me, introduce herself, apologize for being late, and ask me if I would be willing to stay a little longer. Was I wrong!!! After waiting about 20 minutes (with no contact from a stylist), I walked over to the stylist nearest me (purple,dashiki dress) if she was Krystal. She told me, "No," pointed to the stylist directly next to her (orange, off-the-shoulder top/ black leggings/ wedge sandals) and said, "That's Krystal." After making eye contact with Krystal, I assumed she would finally come over to greet me then. Wrong, again. At the 30-minute-wait mark, I got up and left, never even to hear from Krystal. It is now approximately 6 hours since I left and I haven't heard a peep from Krystal, via text, phone call or email. As a 3-year-old, "born-again" naturalista, I have been searching for natural hair salons in the county. I had read some positive reviews about Fabulocs (which I have now dubbed, "UnFabulous") and thought I would give them a try, hoping this would be my new "go-to." Sadly, I am once again searching for that special place. Any business that takes my patronage for granted and (apparently) does not place a premium on customer service does not deserve me as a client/customer. Krystal has irreparably damaged the Fabulocs brand for me. My rating would have been -5, if permitted. Good riddance.
