Over the last five plus years visiting the Hair Company has always been an outstanding experience. I have seen many of the stylist to include Katie, Sarah, Blair and others. I went in to this hair salon with high expectations and upon arriving, I was very excited after seeing the nice salon appearance. It looks amazingly neat and with high salon standards, but I soon realized that not all the staff is well trained and prepared for certain challenges. I needed a haircut and color, Sarah the staff member helping me, talked a lot about knowing the process but soon after she started bleaching my hair, I started feeling a very uncomfortable and painful, burning sensation. When I tried to touch my hair to relieve my pain, she realized smoke was coming out of my hair which wasn't my hair, it was more so my scalp frying in front of her eyes. Scared, she promptly rushed me to the rinsing chair to wash it all off, afraid my hair would catch on fire. I stayed calm and soon after that she explained to me that she would have to reverse the process and put the same color in my hair I had when I walked in which made me feel very disappointed. Not to mentioned the haircut was supposed to be a bob and she did a horrid version of it, not cutting enough in the back, it look more like a bad home made haircut, i didn't like it. I can honestly say, I had never experienced such a dramatic incident. I had only heard stories of other people burning other people's hair in other salons, but I never thought it would happen to me. Finally, I can say that for me The Hair Company is not a prestigious salon, but a company for disappointments and it will not be an option on my list of salons ever again. I would suggest the owner provides Sarah with more training.

Everyone here is very nice and from experience - Angela Covolo does outstanding hair coloring. Shop is not fancy but it is very big and open, so you don't feel crowded next to someone else. There is a very nice gift shop here with clothing and jewelry, etc. Like most hair salons with quality hairdressers, services are expensive.

I live in Texas, my best girlfriend lives in Mechanicsville. A couple of years ago, I wanted to pay for her to get her hair done for her birthday, so called and spoke with the woman who answered the phone. I told her that I wanted my friend to have, cut, foils, shampoo and style, and I told her she had shoulder length hair. I also told her that I wanted to pay them enough for the entire salon visit plus an appropriate tip. She gave me a price and assured me that it would cover EVERYTHING plus a tip. When my friend went for her visit and ended up having to pay $70 OUT OF HER OWN POCKET. She was upset and I was very angry. I would never use, or recommend a company that treats people this way. If I could give 0 stars, I certainly would. Why did I wait to post this? Because at that time, I didn't realize I could rate them online.

Overall on salon - clean, friendly staff, cute boutique in the front, great prices for high quality service. I highly recommend Lauren Morris! I had been (foolishly) black box dying my own hair (don’t do this). My desire was to eventually transition to blonde. I went to someone at a different salon and while I knew I would not immediately have blonde I kid you not when I say I walked out with orange hair. I then found Lauren through a recommendation and I kid you not when I say she SAVED me!! Lauren pretty much performed a miracle color correction on me and I left the salon with beautiful blonde hair! I’ve had a hard time over the years feeling comfortable with a hair dresser and she has my absolute confidence. She’s friendly, and has great taste in her suggestions to go with her skills! Lauren also has recommended multiple things for me to do shampoo/treatment-wise at home that have really helped the health of my hair.

Tina is fantastic, as always, and she is patient with me even when I change my mind halfway through a cut. The Hair Company isn't cheap, but everyone is courteous and friendly. Tell them before they run your card if you want to add a tip.

I was referred to The Hair Co. by a friend in 2012 and have never had a bad experience there! I did venture out a few times to other salons/stylists in 2014 and was also disappointed with my hair. I have vowed to NEVER stray from The Hair Co. Their staff is amazing and so knowledgeable at their craft. The customer service is unbeatable and they have a price range for everyone. I would recommend them to any and every one. My hair has never looked so good OR been as healthy and I almost always have a bleach/highlighting service done. The ladies there truly do "know their stuff" and even more importantly, they love what they do and it shows! 5 STARS.
