My sister has cut my hair forever, but she lives 3 hours away so getting home isn't always easy. Stopped by Planet Salon for a walk-in wax (which they got us in!) and saw this girl with a really cute cut. Called the salon the next day and long story short, I found out that Mars Marusek was the stylist who had given this hair cut. Made my appointment and fell in love!! I was very up front about my sister being my stylist and she listened to my concerns and listened to me!! Totally recommend her!!!

It had been about a 7 to 8 months since I had gotten my hair done. The last salon I had gone to had damaged my hair, so I looked up who was good at color. I chose Tee on the Planet Salon’s website and that has been the best decision I have ever made for my hair. She was very honest with me how much hair I needed to chop off for my hair to be healthy. We cut about 4 or 5 inches off and my hair is so healthy now. She did the balayage on my hair and it looked fantastic. My mother is a hard woman to please and she said my hair has never looked better. Tee recommended hair products for me and my hair is so soft and shiny now. Tee is the literally the best hair dresser I’ve been to. Definitely recommend her!!

I have a very dark long hair and I only had my hair done twice in my life. I want a new style because I feel like my hair was so boring. So I am super excited to have a haircut and hair coloring which took a long time of decision making. My stylist was really nice and did a great job in my hair cut. However, my hair color is a little disappointing. The color at the top of my head is way lighter more than the body. It looks like I only color the top and gave up the rest. At first I thought its just hard to see the color because of the lighting but when I got home to take a closer look The color was not spread properly. I probably need to spend more now to get it right. Tried to call to address it hoping something could be done but nothing was really offered. I guess they can't really do anything about it.

The girl who cut my hair really seem to not listen to what I wanted despite me repeatedly telling her exactly how I wanted my hair. She seemed very unenthusiastic. I felt like she just cut my hair how she thought and didn’t even do much to it, and didn’t really consult me.

I recently visited Planet Salon in Hamburg and Mary cut and styled my hair...I loved the complete experience! She listened to what I wanted and my concerns and I know she listened to the weird ways my hair flip out or don't behave, b/c she addressed them all. It was the first haircut in I can't remember how long that I didn't go home and start cutting on myself!! She has a great personality and very good with short hair, which can sometimes be tricky! I highly recommend her and the salon. She expressed how much she enjoyed working there, which is important to me, as well. And I received a goody bag with discounts since it was my first visit (great marketing ideas!) and she helped me pick out a great product that I love! I have already booked an appointment for next month:)

Getting my hair done yesterday at Planet was a great experience from beginnnig to end. I waited only briefly when I arrived, which I expected since I had arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment, as requested by the salon's website. I really liked the vibe of the place, with the modern decor, and music videos playing on several televisions placed around the room.. It felt very hip and trendy, but also felt welcoming and friendly. As for my stylist Amber, I have nothing but awesome things to say about her. I really appreciated the way she listend to what I wanted for my hair, and discussed it with me before taking the first steps. I also found her to be a nice person, and our coversation as she worked on my hair was easy and friendly. I'm normally very nervous about getting haircuts, and she made me feel much more at ease. Over all I walked away happy, and loving my hair even more than I expected to. I even received a nice little gift for being a first time customer, a very nice gesture for sure. It is safe to say that I am definitely going back. :-)

We unfortunately had a bad experience here. My sister came in for a full highlight on her naturally light brown hair. She showed the stylist, Mary, a picture that very closely resembled her natural color with a few highlights. Admitedly neither my sister nor I are super familiar with getting our hair colored but i’ve gotten a partial highlight before and the stylist used a lot of foils and pulled out small individual sections of hair. Mary seemed to just do a few foils of one color. It came out quite clearly too blonde, apparent even before her hair was dry. She tried to use a toner to bring it back down and it turned it just a dull ashy blonde, that was grey, almost green at the tips. At this point we had been at the salon 3hrs and had to leave. Giving her the benefit of the doubt, she had never done my sisters hair before, we came back the following day to give her a chance to fix it. She just stripped the toner and used another one? (Not sure how this works) either way we just left the salon and my sister has bright blonde hair that is no where close to what she showed or described to the stylist nor her natural color. Also dissapointing that it is just one single color, not a true highlight. Really dissapointed, i’m actually not one to write reviews but i’d like to keep anyone else from having this experience.

I've been going to Planet since I was in high school, and I've had my hair done by quite a few stylists. I have to say, I have NEVER had a bad color or cut! There is also something to be said about how easy it is to style once I get home. I'm pretty much awful at styling my own hair but the cuts and products make it a breeeeeeze. My mom has started using the Bumble and Bumble products too, and she claims that she will never use another hair product EVER. Thanks for always being awesome, Planet Salon!

I did not get $50 worth of a haircut. Nice place, nice people. But I booked online and it wouldn't tell you if it was a $38 stylist or a $50 stylist until after you booked! I wanted something new but when I made my request the woman said that it really wouldn't work for me and offered to do a bob. Which is what EVERYONE gives me! When she finished, I politely asked if we could go shorter but she said she wouldn't advise it and that I could have much more options with the bob. I'm content enough with this but I just spent $50 on a style my mom could do in her kitchen.

Great salon experience. It's really tough to give a customer who doesn't know what he wants something he'd like. That is basically me. I didn't know what I wanted and they gave me something good I can walk away with. I would only critique their pricing strategies. I expected to pay 30-40 and somehow my bill ended up 60-70. They have this weird strategy where you pay for level 1 thru 3(?) Salon stylist? At various price levels. I can get a similar or good experience in a big city for 50$ or even 30$ and some larger places. I'd say it's worth it for those that would come regularly and have their stylist here.

Planet Salon is hands down the best salon!! All of the stylist are very well educated and stay up on all the latest trends! They also have a special training process for any new stylist, where they work under a top stylist for 5 or 6 months to make sure every stylist is amazing! They do not hire people out of beauty school without giving them this special training. Planet Salon should be respected for giving great stylist out of school amazing training.. afterall, every stylist has to start somewhere. They also frequently send their stylist to New York and L.A. to get the best training possible!!! I honestly can't say enough about how great Planet Salon is, so go ahead and check them out. You'll be d5o glad you did!!! Thank you Planet Salon for making people feel and look their best!

Mars is my stylist. She is the best when it comes to color. I have dark blond hair and she gives me great hi/low lights that make my hair a natural looking golden blond. I always get compliments on the color of my hair. I have long hair and she patiently takes her time to get it done right. She also is a great listener and really cares about her clients.

i went into planet salon last minute for a correction cut and a few visits later correction color. my hair had been butchered by another salon and i booked with Courttney M and she did not disappoint! she fixed my cut to the best of her abilities and made sure i was more than happy with it before i left. a few weeks later i came back for another trim and the color correction and she did wonderful. within a month my hair did a complete 180 and i honestly couldn't have been more happy with my visit. i really wish i would have went there in the first place!! she is super nice and very talkative. definitely recommend Courttney for all your hair needs. she is awesome at what she does!!

I called to have a consultation, and when I got there they said that they did not have me on the schedule. I was not surprised by this because when I called the girl at reception had to ask my name and phone number at least 3 times. However, when I got there reception was very nice and squeezed me in to see someone. The man who did my consult was very nice, but it seemed a little bit rushed, probably because he had another client waiting which was okay. This wasn't his fault. I called today to confirm my appointment, and the girl at reception said that she did not have me on the schedule. I would have been okay with this happening once, but the fact that it has happened multiple times I am going to have to give them one star.

I started out with a couple different stylists, all who were great, but once I started getting my cut, color, and style from Jennifer Bentley I haven't switched to anyone else. She not only does a fabulous job but when I ask for advice on trying something new with my hair she gives a good, educated, and honest opinion! Sometimes those pinterest hairstyles will not work on my hair and I'm glad Jennifer isn't "scissor happy" but instead she will do what will truly make me look my best. May 12th, 2018 Madison County Prom - A few weeks before my daughter's prom I contacted the Hamburg location to schedule hair and make-up. I told the guy that answered the phone that it was her prom and I needed someone really good at makeup and we wanted her hair in soft curls since her hair is at her shoulders. He was nice said no problem and scheduled the appointments (make-up with Macy and hair with Kelly). A week before prom my daughter decided she wanted an updo. I once again called the salon, it sounded like the same young man that took the initial call. I explained what she wanted and asked if Kelly would have time and was capable of an updo. He said Kelly was fantastic and it wouldn't be a problem. On May 12th me and my daughter showed up at 2pm. We were quickly greeted by Macy. We showed her a picture of the look my daughter was looking for (smokey eye, and otherwise very simple). The appointment ran over the allotted time. When she was finished she went to tell Kelly that my daughter was ready for hair. Kelly said her schedule showed simple curls and they should have never scheduled my daughter with her. That since the make up ran over and she had another appointment she wasn't doing it. Macy came back and explained what had happened. I explained that I had called and changed the appointment and was assured that it would be taken care of. Macy talked to another stylist who said she would help with my daughters hair in between her clients. Macy told me that she never does updos but she would make sure that my daughter was taken care of. She worked really hard on my daughter's hair. As I sat watching I saw Kelly finish her appointment, walk by several times and then leave. She never asked if Macy needed help, even though you could clearly tell she was very slow. Other stylist stepped in and helped as they could. When she was finished I was so grateful that she understood how important a prom is to a shy teenage girl. When I went to pay the same guy that took the calls checked us out. He said it's $54. I asked for hair and make-up? He said if they want you charged they are suppose to tell me so I'm telling you it's $54. I said ok. I paid and left Macy a very large tip for her hard work. We felt grateful for Macy. If she hadn't stepped up we would have been in a very bad spot. We felt angry and disappointed in Kelly. I understand she had another appointment and maybe she had to leave at a certain time but she could have at least talked to us and apologize for the mix up, instead she acted as though she could have cared less. I have been here a few times for hair cuts and some were amazing and one required another appointment to be fixed. I got partial highlights recently and they looked fine in the salon but when I arrived home I was horrified. I have medium/dark brown hair and wanted natural highlights but ended up with bright blond streaks that have some damage. They are thick sections of hair and are not blended at all (think early 2000s). There was also an extra charge for additional toner which I’m fine paying but I feel I should have been told before I got to the register. Very disappointed.

I loved it until my last visit. It's become ridiculously over priced and they don't discuss additional charges with you before hand. I requested Olaplex so obviously I was okay with that charge, but I am already paying more money for the "long hair" service and then they charged me an additional $25 for more color (isn't that just a given that I need more color, that's why I'm already paying more) and then god forbid you get your hair toned is an additional $25. $50 extra for things that should be a given and WERE NOT DISCUSSED. I can pay less and go to a higher rated salon. I used to recommend this place because the stylists are so kind and sweet, but it's just not worth the surprises. (Oh and I got charged twice and had to go back into the salon to have it handled).

Horrible experience. Will not go back. Paid almost $200 for partial highlight and cut. Couldn’t even tell my hair was highlighted, chemical burns on my neck, she cut about 5 inches off when I specifically said I didn’t want length altered. She was coloring my hair and someone else’s hair at the same time. Someone else came to wash my hair and apply toner all over my hair. I sat forever waiting and when she came back she smelled just like a cigarette. My hair is chopped up in layers. I’ve never had such a bad hair cut or experience anywhere. Once I got home to look at my hair I called them for a refund. They apparently don’t do refunds just “fix” the problems. Was told a manager would call me back today and that never happened. Now I will have to pay someone else to try and fix my chopped up hair and get my hair highlighted like I wanted.

Everything was phenomenal I've been here twice and seen the same person but decide on the length you want and add 2 to 3 inches to that because if you say you want it 3 inches below the shoulder you can bet it will barely be grazing the tops of your shoulder when straight (have wavy hair) if I could just be listened to on what most would see as a tiny detail (very big deal for me) it would be 5 stars!

Went here thinking I would get a haircut that was worth the high price they charged - I was wrong. While my stylist was very friendly, I went home with a choppy cut that I definitely could have done myself or gone to Great Clips for. The atmospehere itself was very unappealing and smoky, not something you would expect or want to walk into. With such high prices, I expected over the top service, relaxing "spa-like" ambiance, and to walk away loving my hair - but you don't get that here.

Awful. I got a trim and the worker completely fried my hair with the hair dryer and curling iron. It’s like he had no clue what he was doing. My hair is still messed up from that and it was around 1-2 years ago. I could smell a burning smell when he was doing my hair.

Let me start out by saying I've lived in Lexington for 6 years, in that time I've been to several different salons and let down time and time again. After walking out of several salons with jacked up haircuts and uneven brow lines I decided the only thing to do was to just get my hair cut at my normal stylist, the problem its three hours away in my hometown. After a few years of going to my hometown to get my haircuts. I decided I would give Lexington stylists another try. Luckily I found Planet Salon, I was a little hesitant because I suffered a severely jacked up haircut from a stylist there my first month in Lexington. I had heard good things about a stylist named Sydney so I made an appointment with her. Not only did she listen to my request she also offered suggestions on how to keep the same style but to fix it differently for different occasions. Sydney without a doubt gave me the best haircut I've ever received. The awesome haircut isn't the only reason Sydney will always be "My" stylist. I had explained to her how after eyebrow waxing the next morning the skin around my brows always breaks out. Sydney had an idea as to the cause of this "mystery" and she also had a solution! After she worked her "magic" and I use the term magic because its exactly what it is, my brows looked phenomenal and no more breakouts! Sydney is not only a great stylist, but a true eyebrow artist! If you want a stylist who will not only listen to what you want but also offer some suggestion on how to tweak your hairstyle to make it more "you" and give awesome service then Sydney is your girl!
