My daughter always have a great experience when coming to Natural Alternatives. Tameka does a wonderful job on her hair and so does her assistants. We are so thankful that we found this salon. Her hair has grown greatly since Tameka has taken over. I refuse to do it and she refuses to let me touch, I only help pick out styles now and I am ok with that. Thank you Tameka and Thank You Natual Alternatives.

This is the fastest hair salon I've ever gone to. You're started as soon as you get in and I'm usually out in 2 hours. The only time my stylist was sick and left early I was given a complimentary hair steam and someone else did my hair last minute. I do my own hair when I can but this place is great for that occasional and efficient spa-like hair experience. The only issue I've had is that it's almost impossible to get your favorite stylist regularly so I just leave it up in the air when I schedule so I can get in, everyone does an amazing job!!

The stylist did a good job but it’s really hard to get an appointment. The phone doesn’t get answered & messages don’t get returned. I too, support black owned businesses but owners have to do their part to provide good (not perfect) service.

I drove an hour in an attempt to find a salon that would help me with my newly started natural hair journey. This salon's first impression left me less than impressed. The receptionist was welcoming and professional however, the stylist who I actually consulted with didn't have the best attitude. It was obvious from the half handed handshake to the glare across the table that "consulting" was not the stylist's favorite part of the job. My consultation would have been less than 5 minutes if I had not asked questions that I felt the stylist should have been asking me. The salon is beautiful and looks like an environment where one would receive professional services. In this case however, looks were definitely deceiving.

My 12 year-old daughter has been a client of Regina's for about four years now. Regina is another member of our "village" and sincerely cares about my child beyond the care of her hair. Regina isn't the kind of stylist who holds back home-care teachings, anything I've wanted to learn, she has taught me with no problem.

I used to love this salon but I haven't been there in years. So I tried to make an appt and they told me I had to do a consultation first. However consultations are only done Tues thru Thurs. Well like most normal people I work during the week. Instead of accommodating the client they would rather lose money. I don't understand that business model where you rather lose money than make money. Anyway, I'm never darkening their doorway again.

Atmosphere is relaxed, stylists are accommodating and do not overbook. Availability of appointments however is slim.

Natural Alternatives is one of the best , if not THE BEST hair salon for women of color. That's not to say, women of non-color could not go and be "Wowed" by the professional and talented staff. I'm a mature woman (over 50) and I get compliments regarding my hair from young and old! Let go of the lye-based perms and come and let Natural Alternatives bring your natural hair to its best...styles can include straight or kinky. Trust me - you will LOVE what they do

The salon environment is so clean and peaceful. I liked the decor and the fact that they have nice music playing in the background. All of the staff are friendly and know what they are doing.

I absolutely loved my Natural Alternatives Salon experience! The shop is wonderful and the ambiance is great! A special shout out to Regina who did an excellent job with cutting and styling my hair and her personality is over-the-top!! With each step she let me know what she was doing and what each product used would do for my hair. I was in and out of the shop in 45 minutes....if only I could get my billion salon hours back. #teamnatural #greatjob

I saw pretty good Google reviews on this place so I thought I'd give it a shot. I saw Tameka and let me start by saying I'm SUPER happy about her service and will be going back. She's my official go-to. Tameka started by asking me what we were going to be doing. I wanted a shampoo, a trim and a flat twist. She shampooed my hair really well, I use a lot of heavy oils in my hair on a day to day basis because I find my hair responds well to that, and she managed to get everything out. She set me up with a treatment and I sat under the steamer for 15mins. Once she was done shampooing and conditioning we went over and she cut trimmed my hair. She did it while it was still wet, which I appreciate because I try to limit the amount of heat I put on my hair. She also showed me how much she was trimming off which ended up being a very small amount. She asked me if I preferred a curl or a wavy look when I take my styles out. I said curl; she put some wrapping foam on my hair and proceeded to two-strand twist. It was really quick and I was pleased with how patient she was with my questions about my upcoming appointment to get some color put in. I went in for an appt at 7:30 and probably left around 9:30. And that was probably only because I was asking questions about the different between dyeing hair and rinsing hair. She was extremely relaxed and I never felt rushed. It was great! I go to the gym pretty often so I left my flat twists in until today when I took them out. I was happy with her service when I left two days ago... I didn't realize how amazing of a job she did until today. My hair is shiny, healthy looking, healthy feeling, bouncy, everything you could ask for. This twistout has body for days, I love it.

Awesome.

I just got a phone call, which was supposedly not personal about my child's readiness to be in the salon. I'm sorry, but I felt very offended. She is tender headed, but eventually she would get accustomed the same way I did. I understand that it may possibly delay time for other clients, but no one respected that during our first visit we waited an hour pass our appointment time because the stylist wanted to re do someone's hair that was done. Not only that someone's daughter at the shop removed my daughter's extra 15 minutes scheduled, because she wanted hair color that none of the stylists even wanted to do...but she came in. Info I shouldn't have been privy to, if things were professional. I never do reviews, but this it too much.

The stylist are professional and really listen to the client's wants, putting healthy hair as the first priority. The salon is beautiful and the atmosphere is very relaxing. I recommend this salon to everyone I know looking for a great stylist.

Natural Alternatives Salon is awesome and I’m glad I’ve found a “home” for my (newly) natural hair. Tameka did my hair and she was AMAZING! I went in on 5/24/16 for a big chop and it was my 1st time stepping into a salon as an adult. Horror stories had kept me away from salons for over 20 years but I was ready for a change. Turns out I had NO reason to be worried! THE SALON: The day I made an appt. the lady on the phone was super nice and got me in that same day for a free consultation. We toured the salon and went over the equipment and product lines they use. I was impressed with the clean, relaxing, and professional atmosphere. Regina, the owner, was nice and came right over to introduce herself. During the consultation Tameka listened carefully and seemed excited to get started on my hair. She made sure the haircut would be appropriate for work, asked how long I’d been transitioning, and made sure I was really ready for such a drastic cut. I was booked for the following Tuesday. THE CUT: It’s scary to only know someone for about 20 minutes and then have to trust them with cutting off (most!) of your hair but again I had nothing to worry about. The moment Tameka helped me into my cape I felt at ease. She was gentle, ALWAYS double checked with me before cutting, and most importantly didn’t cut too much off! (A big complaint among frequent salon goers.) She was also honest about the awkward stage I’ll go through if I grow my cut out in the future. I’m quiet and I’ve heard others complain about stylists making them talk when they just want to chill. Tameka didn’t force me to talk but when I did want to chat she was very easy to talk to. She explained each step she was doing and the benefits of each product. I swear I never had to wait more than a few seconds after the dryer or the steamer stopped before she was coming around the corner to whisk me away to the next step. Since then, I’ve gotten nothing but compliments on my hair!

Love this place! Cute, quaint shop with very personable staff who take great care of you. I've never had to wait long before getting my hair started, and I'm not in the shop being styled for hours and hours while they start and finish other people before finishing me...that whole thing that a lot of shops do. Not here! They start you and they finish you; I LOVE IT! Regina is my favorite; fantastic stylist and great to talk to. I highly recommend this salon.

My stylist Alana was GREAT! I enjoyed my time with her very much. Wonderful customer service and attention to the customer. The salon creates an oasis of peace for the client as soon as you walk in the door. I have already made my next on for myself and my daughter. Great find.

I would not have started my loc journey anywhere else. The stylist at Natural Alternatives Salon care about your healthy hair journey.

I called on a Monday, left a voice mail with a hair emergency. They squeezed me in the next day & the rest is history! Tameka is amazing (and now my current stylist)! I appreciate how they schedule their appointments because the the stylists aren't juggling multiple clients. I've never waited longer than 5 minutes when I arrive. I'm in and out in about an hour for a wash and silk!

I recently moved to Louisville and have been in search of a multicultural hair salon for weeks. I chose this place based on previous reviews and the pictures provided on the salon's website (and Facebook account) and boy am I glad I did. For a woman of color, I have very thick and long hair. Usually I opt for a relaxer and a trim once every three months. After visiting this salon and seeing what these ladies can do, I am definitely considering going the natural route for the next few months. My stylist did an amazing job on my hair. She made my hair look fresh and healthy again. It literally looks like I just received a relaxer when I in fact didn't. What an experience!!! I have already booked my next appointment for a trim and am looking to schedule another one before then just because...

Wish there was more overall quality and consistency in services. After fourth visit I decided (for the price) not to return. This was hugh decision for me because I Always choose African American businesses 1st whenever I can.

I've had the pleasure of experiencing this salon and I must note It is beautifully decorated and kept, the atmosphere is nice. My issue is i don't know if the stylists at this salon see what they have. Not many African American salons specifically catering to natural hair have the look, feel, and values this salon has...potential is here to become THE top salon in Louisville. I rarely leave my city and have went to many different salons, even those that cater to natural hair here. I consistently hear my friends and co-workers say they want a salon like the ones they've seen in other cities... the opportunity for that is here! I don't know if you all get that or not but I truly feel you have "IT"....I just can't see it in the stylist attitudes or the women who were at the front desk. I had the opportunity through an event to explore the new location. I was floored by how beautiful it is, from the front desk to seating area for the dryers. My hope is that the stylist here walk into that new location and see the vision and potential there. As African American women our experiences with salons are normally full of waiting, gossip, mediocre decor and customer service. The feeling I got walking into that new salon was one full of excitement. I wanted to experience full service treatment there, I just don't know if the current stylist at your salon have what It takes. I saw them on cell phones with personal calls or on social media. Your missing two stars is due to staff because the place is superb otherwise. The end result is usually ok but I know it's so much more here, so much vision and potential. Please see what this place could be for us (your customers)and the city. Bring to life what it seems the place is trying to convey...a professional salon experience!

Deceitful. Seem to be more worried about collecting their money than focusing on the health of their clients’s hair and consideration for their clients’ time.
