I chose The Salon for hair and makeup on my December 2012 wedding day for myself and my bridal party and I couldn't have been happier. I also had them do my hair for my rehearsal dinner, which was gorgeous as well! Not only did everyone look BEAUTIFUL, we had such a wonderful experience. All of the Salon employees were very accommodating and wanted to make sure everyone was 100% happy with their hair and makeup. And we were! They allowed us to bring in food and drinks the morning of and even let us play whatever music we wanted making it a perfect place to start the day of my wedding. The plaza location is great too, parking in the back is handy as well. Gene the owner was especially accommodating and made us all feel at home in his Salon. Laura at the front desk, who coordinated the day for us, made sure all of the details of the day were planned ahead of time, so everything went very smoothly for myself and all of my bridesmaids and mothers' of the bride and groom as well. I would highly recommend the Salon for your wedding day or any other special occasion. I also get my hair cut there regularly as well too. Shane, the other owner, is personal, professional and my hair looks great.

So... I left thinking I was happy- i thought maybe it just looks darker in the salon and if i go out into the sun it'll look like what i envisioned- nope. I hate my hair right now. I'm going to have to now go find another salon to fix it. It's hard to leave this review because I really liked the girl that worked on my hair, she was a sweetheart, and we hit it off really well. I've been blonde most of my life, beachy blonde and when I went in I showed her a pic of my blonde tresses and how I wanted more of that. Really this is probably more my fault because she showed me swatches and we picked this color I guess- I thought it'd be less red though, more sun kissed. I went in more blonde then what I left with. What I wanted was more blonde,what I left with was dark reddish what is this?... And to add insult to injury I even paid extra for the hair dye because she had to mix up extra two times!

I'd call these stylists the hair experts. They can match any color, work out color combos you'd never have thought of and pair it with the perfect hair cut for your face and complexion. I went in here while roaming around KCMO on business. Thought I would get my hair done up since I'd been travelling a lot. I had no idea what I wanted, I just wanted to feel pretty after a several long flights in a row. They worked their magic and I walked out of there feeling like a million bucks. I've recommended this place to my best friend who now lives there and she loves it.

Right when I walked in the receptionist was friendly and attentive to get me coffee or water throughout my hair cut. The employees spoke well if their boss too which let's you know it's under good management. All the hair stylists were very nice and the place was not too busy or loud. I have been going to The Salon for over a year now and am always been pleased with the end-product. I have referred all of my friends and family to this salon because I believe it embodies the characteristics of what I (and most women) want: a relaxed ambience, personal attention, and knowledgeable hairstylists. This charming salon on Main Street is comfortable because it does not employ massive amounts of stylists, but rather has only six or seven stations. The small staff makes it easier for clients to become familiar with everyone, which ultimately fosters a comfortable and relaxing environment. All of the stylists are well-educated because they are encouraged to go to trade shows and continue their education in the evolving hair product/care market. Because of the business's focus on education, I trust the stylists to use the best methods and products on my hair. In fact, I am so trusting in my stylist, Nicole, that I often just walk in and let her try whatever new method or product she has recently learned about on me. I trust her because she is passionate about what she does and realizes (where most stylists do not) that as her client I am an extension of her. Because getting my hair done requires time and money, I am so thankful that I have a friend with whom I enjoy spending the hour(s). Ultimately, the reason that The Salon has been a Country Club Plaza mainstay for over thirty years is that it is part of the Kansas City community. The consistently great quality of service I have received from Nicole and The Salon will have me returning for years to come.

I have naturally curly hair. In the past I have become so fed up with trying to deal with it that I shaved it all off. Shane got me through that awkward grow out phase and has helped me learn how to manage my curls with the Diva Curl process and products. I get a great cut every time and now instead of hating my hair and fighting with it, I get compliments on it! If you have curly hair, you need to make an appointment at the Salon!

I have been getting my hair cut by Ramon for the past few months, and he has always done a beautiful job. For New Year's Eve, I wanted something a little more special since my husband and I were doing to the big 20s themed swing dancing party at Union Station. He did my hair and makeup, and I loved both. My hair looked totally retro but still contemporary and chic. It was absolutely amazing. And the same with the makeup - on theme and beautiful but not costumey at all. Ramon is VERY talented and creative, and is also super nice. Highly recommended!

If you're looking for a wonderful place to have your hair done don't look any further. The staff is wonderful and you are greeted with a friendly smile as soon as you walk through the door. I have always been the girl to toss my hair back and go, but after meeting my stylist Ramon Walker I find myself wearing my hair down and actually taking the time to fix it. Not only has Ramon done a fantastic job on my hair as far as the color and the cut, he has given me so many tips to help that clueless girl learn how to style her own hair.

I wish i could give zero or negative rating. I bought a groupon of around $60 for a haircut n full color and my experience was horrific to say the least. My hair color did not turn out the way it was supposed to look. Not even close. The beautician did not care if i was happy with the treatment. The haircut i got was also very disappointing . Not definitely worth the price i payed. What was more shocking to me was thar my beautician was in a hurry to finish my appointment n move over to the next one. I asked her to blow dry my hair to curls which she never did and when asked she said she has other appointment n the client is already there! Which salon treats u like that? I would strongly recommend everyone against it. Pls find some good salon to spend your money on.

After struggling for months trying to find a salon in Kansas City that was reasonable and knew how to work with curly red hair, I was blessed to find The Salon through Groupon. If you're lucky enough to sit in Erin's chair, she will give you a color you love and a cut to match. Go for her head massages alone, they are worth it!

I had a wonderful experience at The Salon and would highly recommend it to anyone - especially those who are especially particular about their hair. The moment I walked into The Salon I knew I was home! The receptionist kindly offered me coffee or water and served me throughout my appointment. Nicole cut/colored my hair, was very attentive to what I wanted done and was also very careful to make sure it was JUST right. She even gave me a "prescription card" with all the products she used and ones she would suggest I use for the winter. Very helpful :) Plus, the atmosphere was great; everyone had their Christmas sweaters on, the stylists and owner were all very friendly and welcoming - AND my hair is perfect! My confidence has been restored and for much less $$ than I was expecting to pay! I really couldn't have been happier with my experience at The Salon. If you're looking for a salon to call your own, go to The Salon. I promise you won't be disappointed.

I absolutely love the salon. I hate haircuts because of personal problems. The first time I went was in April and I had my hair done by Angelica who did a very excellent job. Now it's November and I just got back from the place. Angelica isn't there anymore sadly, but I got my haircut by Meg who did an even better job than my first visit. The Salon will make you feel comfortable with the best staff and great environment. I recommend this place highly especially Meg.

The Salon is great! I recently moved here from Cali and was looking for a place I could trust to get my hair done. I did a lot of research and I'm glad I ended up at The Salon. I hope this helps anyone that is searching for their new hairdresser. I work with Nicole and she is amazing! She is super sweet, and makes the two hours in the chair go so fast with the most easy going conversation. My normal routine is color and cut. With Nicoles direction, we are working toward a more ashy blonde than golden using three different colors to give it demension. She goes for a more natural look which is great but I always like to say i'm a true blonde ;) For my last cut, went with a Kristen Cavallari look. She showed me this great technique for getting a wave tousled look while blow drying- it was pretty cool. Now for the products.... I love them! Not only do they smell amazing but she knows what to use/recommend on my hair for my trouble spots and to make my hair feel healthy. At my last appointment she used and then recommended the Morrocan Oil shampoo and conditioner. I've been using it for about two months and I'm really liking it. Its really moisturizing- sometimes a little too much, but it also smells amazing. She also used the Morrocan Oil smoothing cream because my hair is so dry and adds this amazing Kevin Murphy shimmer shine which makes my hair so soft. I LOVE the shimmer shine spray. When I put this stuff in my hair I can't stop touching it all day! At this last appointment she recommended kerawhip which is a deep conditioning treatment for my dry ends. Again, I've been using it for 2 months and it's the best conditioner I've ever used. It smells amazing and is perfect for my fine hair. Doesn't over moisturize, but leaves it soft and smooth. I'm going for a color and cut refresh next weekend. I'm so looking forward to relaxing in Nicole's chair. I'm so happy I found The Salon! Check it out. The staff is knowledgeable, personable and knows everything about hair. I hope you enjoy it as much as i do!

I called this salon to ask about pricing and was quoted a range of $120.00 to $150.00 for a color, cut, and full highlights. Happy with the pricing, I scheduled an appointment. When setting the appointment, I informed the gal that I needed to be done by 2pm. She set my appointment for 11:00am. I arrived on time for my appointment and after consulting with the beautician, we decided to color roots, full highlights, and put toner on my hair to get rid of redness. Approximately 1:45 pm, the beautician informs me that the scheduler did not schedule enough time and she had another appointment at 2:15. At 2:15, she left me sitting with foil on my hair to cut the other customers hair. By the time she started cutting my hair I had to stop her and leave. I had been there FOUR HOURS!!! I left with wet hair and only half a hair cut. At the register, I was told my charges were $232.00!!!!! Obviously, this is not what I was quoted. I refused to pay this outlandish price and ended up paying $170.00 despite the fact that I had a 25% off coupon as a new customer. This is my first review EVER and I am doing so to report they pulled a bait and switch, which is illegal! BEWARE

I just moved to the KC area and I needed a hair cut. I've always had a terrible time trying to find a hair stylist that cuts my hair the way I want it. Ally did my hair and she did a really good job! She took her time and asked me my opinions as she went along. I was skeptical about the cut at first, but when I got home and started playing with it I really liked it! I always freak myself out like that after a cut. Ally did a great job and she was new to the salon too. I recommend her and The Salon!

I recently had my hair cut and color done by Ramon. I never have color done on my hair and Ramon did an amazing job walking me through the process and making it super subtle and natural looking. He did ombre and a super cute long bob. We took about six inches off my hair and felt so clean and new. Not only was my stylist, Ramon, gentle and accommodating the manager, Shane, went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed and was happy with the services. My first experience at The Salon was great! They have Meg on staff which is a huge bonus for them. Let me just say you will never need another colorist once you discover Meg! The front desk was able to get me in quickly and were extremely helpful when I was there; the owner took time to meet me which is unusual in my experience with most salons. Here's my tip: make an appointment with Meg and trust her to go with her judgement- you (and everyone who sees you!) will be impressed!

I work very close to The Salon and thought I would relax after a busy day at work with a massage + facial. My appointment was with Idida and it was amazing. It was my first facial ever and I will for sure try and make this a regular thing. Idida is very knowledgeable in skin care and taught me a lot about my skin. I can't wait until my next one!
