I took a large step out of my comfort zone today. I had decided that i want to make a huge change and go from mid back length hair to a drastic cut into a bob. I did alot of research before deciding what salon to go to. I chose Silver Screen Salon because of theyre amazing reviews.. and let me tell you they exceeding my expectations. I was greeted as soon as i walked in the door and offered a drink from their beverage station. Chelsea was my stylist today and she did amazing. i was very skeptical and becoming nervous about cutting my hair. I told her what I wanted and she made it happen! I love my new hair! Travis the owner is great as well both him and Chelsea gave me great tips on how to keep my hair beautiful and healthy. I already made my appointment for 8 weeks to keep up with my new style. Chelsea at Silver Screen Salon is my new official hair stylist! Thank you so much!

Travis is great at knowing what cut/style fits your personal styling needs, by taking time to listen and learn about your lifestyle, the products you use and how you style/wear your hair. He also, will explain and demonstrate how you can achieve the same look he creates. * Disclaimer: Unfortunately, I have not mastered this skill set, which requires me to schedule repeat appointments!!! I believe in supporting small businesses in Kansas City and that is one of the reasons I chose Silver Screen Salon. Secondly, Travis's reputation, expert knowledge, combined with his business acumen, are what keeps me coming back, not to mention the extra bonus of feeling and looking great after leaving his salon!

The Silver Screen Salon was like salvation. After just being butchered by Boulevard Barber(?) (at Baltimore and 11th Ave, just east of the Marriott) in the most horrific way possible, I called Silver Screen Hair Salon, and they fixed me up right. I'm from out of town, and here, at a National Training Institute, and had just gotten screwed over by Boulevard, and needed help. Silver Screen was so nice - I huffed it on foot to get there, and they rinsed my hair with nice, cool water, and I felt so much better. Travis even dropped me off at my hotel afterward. Such a nice place. so grateful to have found it.

I took my daughter for her first real haircut and fell in love. Chris was amazing. He put us both at ease and made the entire experience fun and relaxed. My daughter quickly got over her fears and was laughing and joking with Chris by the end. The results were amazing. I couldn't stop looking at and touching my daughter's hair. Not to mention the miracle he worked on my own. I have used the same salon for ten years but couldn't get an appointment. So I took a chance on Silver Screen, met Chris and will never go any where else.

Sweet relief!! There's no such feeling like having your hair destroyed (twice) and then calling a salon who was able to fix it on nearly a moment's notice before going out of town. *deep breath* thank you, Travis and Kimberly!! I loved the environment, attitudes and service. They took their time with the consultation and explaining what the call to action would be to resolve the issue. Called twice about an hour apart during open business hours. Went to an answering machine. So they either can’t afford a receptionist, have zero coverage if they’re on lunch, or another reason why you could turn away customers and new clients. What’s stopping someone who calls and is lucky enough to actually speak to someone from taking an appointment before you get to listen to the voicemails? Terrible customer service before you even walk in the door. Probably not a coincidence all the “positive” reviews are from out-of-towners. Can’t verify anything.

I've been to Silver Screen a handful of times and always walk away above satisfied. However, this post is about my mom. She's 60 years old and over the last two years has been battling liver cancer and NASH. When I say her hair is her prized possession I am not exaggerating. Before every procedure she wants until going back to put the hair net on cause it has to look perfect always. When her health started affecting her sounds reaction to coloring she had to go cold turkey but Travis and Tesarah found a way to make her beautiful, natural salt and pepper hair look better than any dye could. They gave her more than just a cute cut and style; they gave her her confidence back. And now she's got the all clear to dye again she wants to go purple! My 60 year old mom is going to go purple. That's all thanks to Silver Screen Salon. Thanks for being so awesome and giving me back my mom!!

Stephanie Carey is friendly and knowledgeable in her products and in the application of her craft. The salon employs only the best in the business. Stephanie is who I prefer to touch my locks. She does an excellent job as a makeup artist, as well.

I did a lot of searching and reading reviews to find a place to get my hair cut. I haven't had my hair cut in a couple years and I wanted to go from long (between my shoulder blades) to a short pixie bob type hair cut around chin length. So I found Silver Screen Salon. When I called to make my appt Travis was extremely helpful. He is a stylist and the owner of the salon. He booked my appt with him a couple days later. When I got to the salon it was a very hip and stylish place in the art district of downtown KC. Travis greeted me even though he was still with someone and had another customer waiting. I was almost half an hour early. I drove for almost an hour to get there and I didn't want to be late. Shortly after my appt time Travis met w me and we talked about what I want my hair to look like then we got started. He washed and cut my hair. He did such an excellent job! He even took the time to give me pointers on how to style it and advice about how frequently to wash my hair. I would have to say this place lives up to their reputation. All of the staff are super nice and they do fantastic work! I am beyond thrilled w my hair! :-)

For starters I have a pixie cut and have been having a very difficult time finding a stylist who can equal color and cut my hair. After several bad haircuts and average coloring I was shopping around for anyone. I booked an appointment here with Alex for a cut and color. I told him exactly what I wanted with a cut and let him do his artistic thing with the color. I FINALLY had someone do what I wanted with my hair! And the color came out AMAZING! Loved it!!! Alex did an amazing job. I have always had long hair, but being a mom of two and always having to be on my feet I never had the time to deal with my hair. So I decided to go short and I absolutely love it!!!! I was scared at first of not getting used to my hair being this short, but it has honestly been the best decision ever. Excellent care from the booking of my appointment until they sent me out the door. The person who took my call fielded every product question and scheduling concern and was able to accommodate me in 24 hours. I had a 2-hour treatment during which the owner and stylists brainstormed about upcoming clients to assure that everyone got the best and most appropriate service. Because of this team culture I feel I could trust my hair to any staff member. The vibe is super relaxed, appointments and walk-ins streaming in and everyone tended to in a timely manner.

Would not recommend this place. Booked a last minute appointment as I needed a cut before I was out of town for 2 weeks. Was running about 5-10 minutes late because of the weather. I tried calling before I left but no one answered. I arrived 12 minutes after my scheduled appointment time and the person who was there said my stylist left. I understand I was running late but I attempted to call. There was no attempt from the stylist of establishment to contact me. Definitely will not recommend this establishment to others.

Silver Screen Salon is a comfortable, clean harmonious space. Each stylist's workspace yields enough room for the customer to have some privacy but still participate in the vibe of the salon. The stylist Abigail Ferguson is wonderful!! Stick with Abigail you will have world class healthy hair beautifully cut.

I love love LOVEEE the way Chelsea did my hair. I was really nervous because it's my first time getting my hair dyed and my first time in a salon (been just going to Great Clips my whole life). Chelsea took her time and really put in effort to give me the exact look that I wanted. She didn't even need to use bleach! I got the perfect chestnut balayage for my black hair and I couldn't be more pleased. Highly recommended that you go to Silver Screen!

Ex -boyfriends are to Taylor Swift what hair stylists are to me. Changing my style and stylist often, I have had some comically bad experiences. Mainly because I’ve never found the right fit for my hair. However, the entire staff at Silver Screen have changed that for me. Tasarah is an AMAZING colorist. Totally check out her Instagram! She took amazing care of my hair and walked me through the process in depth so I understood what was happening and what products she was using. I’ve also had my hair cut by Chelsea who cut my hair beautifully. What really blew me away by her though is that she asked the owner Travis to come over and examine how she was doing. To me that instilled so much confidence in me because it showed that she really cared about treating my hair right and learning how to be better. Travis is wonderful and I really enjoyed listening to him talk about the best techniques for cutting my hair. Tahki cuts a lot of my guy friends hair and their fades always look damn fine. Overall this salon is totally worth checking out and is super reasonably priced! Can't wait to book my next appointment!
