I'm came into town for a school. My original hairstylist went on line to find someone to do my hair. After looking at website photos she selected Chocolate City. Ms Janice was just what the doctor ordered. Very professional. Treated me as though she known me forever. Also catered to me and assured me I would be pleased. VERY PLEASSED!! Not everyone can step in and do someone hair that they are not familiar with their hair texture. She is Absolutely Wonderful. Sent pictures back to my stylist. Gave her a 5 star. Thanks

I don't recommend. Kim did my hair..And horribly at that. When I walked in, they didn't even have the air on. I should have left then. She rushed through my relaxer and singed my hair. I guess she assumed since I was natural, I didn't know anything about getting a relaxer. The stylists were complaining about Affirm. I asked why they don't like Affirm. I was told it takes too long to process and she could be doing more heads instead of just one relaxer. The hamper was full of towels that stylists had left towels under the sink. The hair dryer vent was clogged with dust. My hair was underprocessed and she didn't even clean the cut up with clippers. I went to the beauty school and got better results. So no I do not recommend, although Kim seemed nice. Be professional and take pride in your work. Don't rush through with paying customers.

I had first visited this salon about 5 months ago for a special occasion hairstyle that consisted of finger waves. The woman that had serviced me was Mancy. I returned 5 months later for the same hairstyle for a different occasion and was not disappointed again! I observed the owner, Janice always greeting her regular customers and new business with the same high energy. The stylist who work here are extremely professional and make their clients feel valued. The salon is very stylish and hygienic. This salon has fair pricing for fair work. Reasonably priced styles, professionalism, and the positive atmosphere is why I will keep returning!!

I’m a travel nurse, so in each new area I go to, I’m extremely careful when choosing a new stylist. I chose to try Chocolate City Salon based on the good reviews, the professional-looking website, and the many accolades and experiences that the owner, Janice, has to her name. I called and was able to get into the salon the next day. Ms. Janice was professional and very dedicated to her work, and was able to style my hair beautifully. I will return to her salon as long as I’m here.

I did a walk in on a Saturday with Donita S. she was the best. I got a wash, condition, trim and a silk press for a really good price and she left my hair feeling better than it has before, Thanks Donita. I will be back and I will recommend to anyone you won’t be disappointed.

I had a appointment at 11 and within a two hour time span the only thing that was done was my shampoo. Then I was left at the shampoo bowl for idk how long. I showed a picture of what I wanted and was directed to let Nicey do my hair. I wanted a simple cut with some curls. When she was finished with my hair it didn’t even look remotely close to what I asked for, if she couldn’t do it then she should’ve said something and we could’ve discussed a different option. She caked my hair with edge control and used a excessive amount of oil sheen, my hair was so greasy!! I’m highly disappointed because this place was highly recommended to me and I left with my hair looking a mess! I didn’t leave till almost 5pm and was shocked that she found it acceptable for me to even leave the shop like that and then had the nerve to ask me am I going to make another appointment! Hell No! They are nice people but the quality of service that I received was unacceptable and I will not be back.

My hair was bleached and damaged by a woman named Janice. And the damage showed the day after it was done. Every morning we had an appointment she was late. I arrived there before her and her other clients. When I had an evening appointment, it would always take two hours for me to be seen. If I had known she was bleaching my hair, I would have declined it. And she's also very rude to new customers and is not worth the money she charges. I was a customer for about four or five months and couldn't get used to how hard she was with my hair and the rude gestures and comments she made. She was very rough with me while doing my hair and she would say, "I'm trained to control the head." I wasn't sure what that meant, but I knew I was tired of leaving with a sore neck and that she wouldn't understand that it hurt, so I just decided to never go back. She says she is Christian, but she does not carry herself as such and I was disappointed and offended. She blasts a TV and music very loud, so if you don't like a lot of noise, let this serve as a warning. I do not recommend anyone to ever get your hair done at this salon by Janice.

Mz janice is a very nice lady from Chicago. And if you know chicago, they can do Hair. I recently move to Kansas City from Chicago a year ago And I was searching high and low for someone to style short cuts. I finally found her salon and I am impressed. Her and her staff are very professional. And her motto is I want you to leave here happy. And that I did . I went one week and scheduled an appointment the next week again. I came here based off Google reviews and I was not disappointed. When I called the number, the owner answered and not only did she answer my question and refer me to one of her stylists best suited for my desired style, but she gave me their personal numbers and told me to please call back if they didn't answer so she can help. I placed an appointment with Nita. She did a weave removal and natural hair blow out. She was very gentle with my hair and I truly left there feeling like she genuinely cared about my hair and health. I'll definitely be back. The parking is a bit weird but it's on a main through way so you can't get lost finding it.

Had a walk in appointment with a lady named Tracy Nunelly and she was terrible. I showed her what I wanted beforehand and she did nothing like the style I asked her to. I also asked her to wash my hair and she did not she just went right into styling it. She was not very social at all and acted as if she didn’t really want to do my hair. She did my hair in 20 minutes.I used to love this place but I will not be coming back.

I had the Best experience at Chocolate City! I am so hesitant for anyone to touch my hair but myself and my Mom, because no one does it right...Except for Chocolate City! Nita worked with my thick natural hair with ease and made me feel so comfortable the whole time. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she nailed it. I walked out of there the happiest I have EVER left a salon...ever! I won’t be going anywhere else nor I will be doing mine myself if I don’t have to.
