I used groupon and got my hair done with an ombre dye. It is one of the only times I was happy with my hair. Parking can be a pain being in downtown Wheaton. The location is good though and after you get pretty there are a lot of nice places to eat. The salon was very clean and the staff paid a lot of attention to get my hair perfect.

Unfortunately you get what you pay for at this Salon. But in my case I will be paying for the 'FREE' haircut for at least the next 24 months. I accepted the offer to be a client for the Thursday morning training class. I explained to the assistant/junior stylist, that I needed LOW MAINTENANCE Hair. That my hair needed to be kept long enough to be put into a ponytail. That when cutting, my hair because of the curl, had to be UNDERCUT, THINNING SHEARS WERE NOT TO BE USED. I told the girl that I wanted the layers cleaned up, that it might take up to 2 inches to clean the layers and to reshape my bangs. Instead the girl decided to chop into the back of hair very short, I tried telling her that because of the curl extremely short was not going to work. I like a stupid fool, I watched her then start chapping into my hair with thinning shears. She completely neglected to touch my outgrown bangs. To say the least the tears started, one horrible haircut. I demanded to speak to the owner, he was unavailable, the managers saw I was visibly upset, after being told several times that 'you get what you pay for' they finally agreed to have a senior stylist 'fix' my hair. Later in the day when the senior stylist, looked at the 'free haircut' I could tell by the look on her face that she was disgusted with what had been done. I am still upset, I am still being vocal, several times I was told to be quiet or I will be asked to leave the salon. I bit my tongue, the senior stylist complained as to how damaged my hair is, because of work my hair is exposed to extreme treatment and weather. The senior stylist then proceeded to cut my hair into extremely short 'bob'. A hairstyle that with my type pf hair is an extremely HIGH MAINTENANCE style. It takes an average of 45-90 a day to make my hair presentable. Yes, I now need to use a large amount of product and hot appliances daily, thus causing more damage on a daily basis. NOW FOR THE REAL KICKER! When I first arrived, I explained to the Junior stylist that I have a 'Hidden Disease" called RSD/CRPS and that I live with daily pain, and some days lifting my arms to do my hair is nearly impossible. And that stress aggravates this disease. I also explained this Illness to the senior stylist. So now till my hair grows out, to make myself presentable it will be daily episode of extreme pain, or hide my hair underneath a hat. Lesson learned, never be a Guinea Pig for any salon, they will not listen to the Human sitting in the chair, the student will cut you hair in the style they need to practice, not what the Human needs. Yes, this may sounds like an upset person on a rant, but I have waited more than a week to write this review, if I wrote this immediately after the experience it would of been extremely more vicious. ************ I have now been living with this awful short hair for a few weeks, it takes more than an hour Daily to make it look presentable. I dread getting up an hour earlier every morning and realizing that I face at least an hour of uncomfortable movement. The recent Kicker, I now need to spend money on new Head-shots for my occupation. I told the trainee that I needed to keep it LONG, but due to the short cut new photos are MANDATORY, AND WILL HAVE TO KEEP REPLACING THEM AS MY HAIR GROWS OUT! I will be paying for the 'free' haircut in so many ways for so many years.

I had my bridal party get their hair and makeup done here and everything was perfect. The staff was so friendly and even drove some of us to the church when our party bus didn’t pick us up! All the women and flower girls looked amazing! Thank you Zazu staff!

I have been coming back to Zazu to see Sandy whenever I'm in town. The first time I came was back in 2001. Everyone in the salon is friendly and helpful. I've used many of the services over the year including manicures, facials, and haircuts. Sandy does a fantastic job cutting my hair which had proved challenging for many other stylists in many salons in different cities around the country. She listens to what I would like and incorporates what I would like while keeping the style modern. I will continue to travel to cine back to Zazu.

I'm kind of a tomboy and not a huge fan of salons in general or paying an arm and a leg for a haircut but I really enjoy coming here. I've had bad experiences at other places and am willing to pay and travel to come to this place for the peace of mind. Pleasant and clean atmosphere, and everyone is really nice. I've been coming here for years and initially did the student cuts on Sunday which always felt professional. Now I go to the same woman every time which is pricier as she is a higher "tier" but it's nice to have someone who knows what I like now! Hoping to try a colored hair extension in the future! I bought a salon product earlier this year and after using it twice over a several week period, did not like it enough for the hefty price tag (again, cheap tomboy here). They allowed me to return it no questions asked. I also just got back from a complimentary neck trim which is nice that they do. I'm overdue for a haircut but my stylist had been out of town so it was nice they offered that until I can get an appointment. Definitely recommend this place, whether you're a seasoned salon goer or you're like me and feel foreign in them haha.

My stylist is Vanessa and she is amazing. She always takes her time from the shampoo bowl to the final softing of my bangs. I can't say enough good things about the salon and Vanessa! They are open on Sundays, which is a plus. A great day to get pampered and recharged for the work week.!

On Thursday, I had some free time in my day and decided to get a hair cut. I walked into Zazu Salon and informed the receptionist that I was a walk in and asked if there was someone available to give me a quick trim. She quickly got me seen by stylist, Ava who was amazing. Ava listened to what I wanted (just a trim) and then got to work. She took her time making sure everything was perfect and as she cut my hair, we discussed different products I could use for my hair because I didn’t like how dry it had been lately. I ended up leaving with a new shampoo and after trying it out, my hair feels fantastic. I was very happy with my experience and the price for the hair cut was very reasonable. I’ll definitely be going back!
