One of the best hair cuts I've had in years and best I've had in Moscow. Michael is excellent and pays attention to every detail. I have thick hair, short bob, and more often than not, have a hard time finding a good stylist. Furthermore, the space is very hip and in a great location. I am glad I found Michael and Canopy -- highly recommend it.

This review is long over due. I just wanted to say that I love Canopy and I love the experience every time. I also love the color that I got the last time, it never turned orange! I wish I could afford going more often! Michael knows what he is doing and he spends time with his clients to make sure they get the end result they are looking for. He also always has great advice! Michael cut my hair and it turned out fabulous. He was meticulous and attentive. I have long and very thick, course hair and usually leave salons unhappy and the hairstylist looks like they need a drink after working on me. Michael on the other hand listened to my concerns, gave me styling tips and taught me how to work with my hair. The staff was also friendly and professional. I will definitely be back. Thank you!

I'm so disappointed. I thought I had found my favorite salon who did an amazing job with my hair. However I was unaware of their unspoken "no children" policy. I brought my 11 year old in for a cut because he has NEVER had a cut I was happy with. Michael yelled at my 2-year old whom I also had in tow - who also was behaving very well. I walked out a few minutes later and I did cancel my future appointments. I wish there was a way to rectify the situation as I was looking forward to many services in the future. At this point, however, I simply feel unwelcome, with or without my kids.

I've tried several places in Moscow for my fine, thin, straight and graying hair, and they just didn't seem to be able to make the style look good on me. The hair was ok, but the style didn't make ME look good. But Michael worked wonders. I put total control in his hands and I am so happy with the outcome. I'm so glad I found him. Also, the products he sold me helped my hair look and feel thicker. The salon itself is beautiful and he made me feel so comfortable--and I never really felt comfortable having my hair done. Thanks, Michael.

Horrible experience. I was booked at 5pm. Didn’t get seen until 5:45, the girl told me she only had time to do a dry cut and if I wanted my hair washed I needed to come back the next day. I waited an hour to be told that. Very frustrating.

Really awful haircut, taken 2 years to regrow and fix! The salon I go to now said they have to fix bad haircuts from here constantly and I believe it. Not to mention all the replies to any negative review here are wholly unprofessional. Avoid at all costs! Edit: 100% sure it was this salon, may Of 2017, I left with something almost like a bowl cut but worse

Michael was so careful in cutting my hair to my style needs and giving me a lot of different looks! I told him my hair looked so good it felt like a wig. And he was attentive and thoughtful in a beautiful and relaxing environment. I enjoyed every minute and would trust him with a drastic change as well.

I've only had my hair done by Mike, but he does a great job. It's hard finding a hair stylist that knows how to cut male hair in the area, but Mike knows exactly what he's doing. I've been back a few times with couple different hair styles and every time it turns out great. It's easy to tell when a hair stylist is rushing a cut, especially when it comes to short hair because upon closer inspection you can see the lines being uneven or parts of the hair being lopsided. This has never been the case when I've gone to Canopy. Mike takes his time when cutting and makes sure everything is even and that all the lines are clean. I usually bring in a photo of the hairstyle I want because I'm not great at explaining it, and he manages to match the photo every single time. The staff is also very friendly and they remember you by name when you come back. My first time going I met Mike and a month later after returning, he still remembered my name and what hairstyle I had asked for last time. Overall, great staff, great hair stylists, and great customer service. I would recommend him to all of my friends (and have).

Michael has given me the best two haircuts of my life! The head massage/ shampoo is luxurious, the ambience is beautiful and inspiring, and his company is just lovely. I asked for the impossible, a haircut that I don't have to do ANYTHING with that will look good down/ in a ponytail/ and pulled back... and he did it. Thank you Michael!

Update: Two weeks later and my hair really doesn't look that good. In a lot of lighting it's too yellow and gold yet in his shop it looked okay. I spoke with a couple other stylists who stated that it should have never taken that long to do my hair. That a good stylist should understand that there could be surprises and know how to handle it - aka brown hair dye (which I didn't know about) should not have been such a game changer. I am so bummed to have spent that much money on such a poor, and stressful, experience. Now, I will be spending even more to find somebody to correct what Michael could not handle. On Wednesday, May 14th, I went to Canopy Salon in Moscow, ID for highlights. Unbeknownst to me, my old stylist had put brown hair dye into my blonde hair. Michael did what he could to give me a beautiful color and cut (and it is beautiful). I gave him a 20% tip as well as purchased products from him in the hopes that they too would be outstanding. On Friday, May 16th, I washed my hair with the Aqua Boost shampoo and conditioner. To my dismay my hair felt dry, damaged, and was severely tangled despite following the directions on the back of the bottle. On May 17, 2014, at 10 am I went into the salon requesting a refund for these products. The stylist there at the time stated that she could only do a refund to my account. Thinking that meant my debit card, I said okay. She then clarified that it means my Organic Salon account. Seeing as the return policy was not clearly stated on the receipts I said that it should be there, or on the counter, and again requested a refund. She said that Michael, the owner, would be in later and I could talk to him then. My tone of voice was matter of fact, as that is my personality, but I understood that she could not call all of the shots. Around 3pm I returned to the salon to find Michael. My dad came in with me because we were out together running errands (it’s hot to wait in a car!). I explained to Michael what it did to my hair. He stated that he sells the best products, that nobody has complained yet, and that if something went wrong it was because I wasn’t using them correctly. Michael continued to berate me stating that I was rude to his stylist (I was not), asking my why I was rude, telling me that I was using his product wrong, and basically that there was something wrong with me. He angered both my father and I by being so backhandingly rude to us. He told me obviously I brought my father in for a reason. Implying because I expected a confrontation. As I said earlier, we were running errands together. It turns out that the refund policy is stated on the website, but to myself it wasn’t clear. When I read “account” I stopped, thinking that meant the account (aka card) it was bought with. There was no reason for Michael to berate me, put me down, and challenge me to confrontation. His words and tone were baiting and the dominant eye contact was pushing for me to back down. When neither of us did back down Michael told us to never set foot in his salon again. I know for sure that I am now the second person he has said this to. Believe me Michael, I will NEVER set foot in your salon again. To talk to a disabled person (oh yes, I have a verifiable cognitive disability that I don’t go waiving a flag around with) like that, mentally abuse her, and traumatize her in that manner is not right. I cried when I got home the night of my color appointment because I felt so bad that it took you so long. I have feelings too and with a little bit of respect (instead of telling me that I don’t know how to use shampoo and conditioner!) this could have turned out much differently.

Finding Michael and Canopy is like finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The is the FIRST fantastic hair design I have had since I used to have my hair done at Vidal Sassoon's Salon in Beverly Hills, CA. He is an artist whose styling abilities can only be found in the BEST salons world wide. The salon is exquisite, the atmosphere soothing, and the people PERFECT. I highly recommend both men and women experiencing a visit to Canopy!

I just got my hair cut by Michael, and love it so much I had to write a review (which i've never felt the need to do with any other business). Michael was very friendly and personable and gave me the best hair cut i've ever had. The salon itself is very relaxing and was decorated so cute for the holidays :) I can't wait to go back and get my hair done here again! Canopy is definitely my new go-to salon. Thanks!

The first time I had my hair done here, I loved it. It was this beautiful brown/sandy blonde balayage that took quite a bit of time because my hair is about 11-12 inches long and while it isn't thick, the strands are very fine. So many people complimented my hair and it felt great! Five months later, I returned to have my hair re-done the same way. On the second trip I also purchased the near $40 five-minute hair cut (it was a fantastic cut but still less than 10 minutes was spent on it because the cut was very simple) making this round more expensive but I did it anyway because of how great the first one turned out. Michael seemed excited about the way my hair turned out while I was in the salon. He was seemed so proud of his work that even though I didn't like it, I decided he was probably right and that I needed to give it time to grow on me (pun intended). I didn't say what I felt when I left the salon, because I didn't want to be a burden. It was a Saturday and Michael made it clear he had plans and I am not a confrontational person. The first thing I did when I got home from the salon, was spend over two hours attempting to style my new hair. I kept looking at it and trying to like it, but it was all wrong. There were several pieces of hair that had splotches of bleach that did not blend in and the colors just weren't what I expected. The most upsetting part was a 1in wide segment in my bangs that started dark brown and abruptly became bleached blonde with a pretty distinct line between the two colors. The whole thing just looked rushed and wasn't what I expected. Especially for the money that I had spent on it. I almost never treat myself. Therefore, spending over $320 to return home with a hair that I absolutely hated, but I felt I couldn't do anything to fix, is why I am giving this salon a 3/5. I didn't feel as though I could tell Michael that I thought he had made a couple mistakes without feeling really bad about it, not a feeling I want from my hairdresser. It has been 5 months since that experience and I still find myself daydreaming about cutting all my hair off. (Since I spent all my cash on this hair, I haven't had the time or money to get it fixed, I am just happy I look pretty good in hats!) I thought I had found a permanent hairdresser, but every time I see my hair I am disappointed. (A testament to how long the dye lasts).

I've only been there once (during UI moms weekend) I was calling all around town to see if I could get. I wasn't expecting to because of how that weekend was. But I was able get it here and I plan on going again. I got my eyebrows done. I was nervous because I have never had anyone else touch my eyebrows before. But the lady (I can't remember her name) that did them was nice and made me feel comfortable from the start and did a great job. I really recommend this place to people.
