I'm not one to leave negative reviews, but my experience at this salon warrants this exception. This is perhaps the first time that I have ever felt like my hair looked better walking into the salon than coming out of it. I believe that I severely overpaid for a haircut that leaves me embarrassed to let my hair down. I am deeply disappointed, especially since this salon had received such raving reviews online. Will not be returning :(

That's when I saw Paul Brown Salon, I asked the receptionist if there was someone who was really good with color she recommended Ines, and she was right. I gave 4 stars because I love Paul B. he and his staff were very warm and inviting. They made me feel comfortable and I had been to PBS before and loved my last haircut so i went back....HOWEVER! To my horror I was given a cut which i absolutely hate!!! And didnt ask for! (As described) Thank goodness I did not have to pay for it...this was a cut from a MASTER stylist who chopped my hair up in the back and left lots of unevenness in the front. She made it look good as a style. But after I washed, it now I don't know what to do with it...I usually do my hair with no problems but this is the worst haircut I have ever had in my life! She offered to call me in a wk to see if she could fix it, and she did call but i was actually afraid to go back. I told her how I wanted it cut and it was nowhere near....I actually had to stop her from cutting my hair because she had cut way too much and was cutting even more

I always been a customer at Paul Brown Salon for years. Actually I once went to the Waikele location and used to see a girl named. Melissa then that Salon closed so I ended up going to the Ward location. I asked the receptionist to recommend a hairdresser for me and the receptionist recommended Ian so ever since that time I have been seeing him as my hairdresser for a very long time. I would never want to go anywhere else because he is very accommodating. I am not able to come in on the days he is working and I even told him that my days off are Tuesday and Wednesday and he tells me no problem I will come in just for you anytime.. Also whenever he goes on vacation during the time I really need a hair color,I know I can trust any of the other hairdressers! Everyone there is so welcoming.from the receptionist Kat or Angela,to even the hairdressers there. They always say hello how are you today? Or ohh you are waiting for Ian? Ok well let me go and call or get him for you ok! Everyone there is do nice. I would always recommend this Salon because everyone is so talented and this Salon is well known. This is the best Salon!

Not only she knows exactly what are the best styles and products for my particular kind of hair, but she is TEACHING me how to blow dry it myself! I am "hair challenged" when it comes to styling hair, so if she can teach ME how to make my hair look nice and not like Bozo The Clown, THAT'S a real recommendation!

Personally, I would highly recommend Davis Nguyen. He's a great hairstylist to work with. However, with high quality does include a price. For me it's worth every penny because he is exceptional in his profession.

Almost $500 for messed up hair coloring. Patches of wrong color here and there, some not even colored at all plus hair turning green. Supposedly the best colorist(according to receptionist) Sean Rodrigez told me green will go away in a month. other salon cant even fix it cuz so messed up

Had a hair emergency and Davis was EXACTLY who I needed! The military wouldn’t let me have the hair color that I had just gotten and my hair turned out to be severely bleached and damaged from it. Davis explained what would be best for my hair in the long run and even though I didn’t get to keep my blonde, he only used semi permanent so that it will lighten eventually. I was SO STRESSED but he took it all away, he’s friendly and REALLY KNOWS what’s best for you! Book with Davis! Will be going back to him!

Below is an account of my experience at this Salon. It was not good and my hair after 10 days is still badly singed due to the instruments used. Furthermore, other people have since informed me of other poor service at this establishment e.g., not being situated by any mirrors and then horrified by the results! Do not go here, particularly if you are a woman. Please see why below: Firstly, I was attracted to the salon as it was open until 8 pm, recommended by colleagues who frequent the Kailua salon and have long hair like myself, as well as being next door to Island Oil where I shop regularly. They fit me in at 6:30 pm that day and were very friendly. On arrival I was told that my hair dresser was just finishing up and would be right with me; half an hour later he eventually graced me with his presence. The lady at the desk told me his name was Del, he also told me a variety of other names as well as preceded to embark on a frivolous peacock performance on a pseudoscience of hair (I'm a scientist), not once answering any of my questions and eventually the 'have you dated pisces men' approach was attempted with the accompanying behavioural and verbal nonsense. Had he paid attention to what I would have liked then perhaps this would have been an enjoyable experience. I did not want much cut off, he did not listen, would not tell me how much he was planning to cut off, I did not want my hair blow dried or hot irons on them to straighten them out and eventually I asked him to respect my requests by not cutting off any more. Had he answered my questions of how much he planned to trim etc., initially then that may have instilled some confidence in his highly inflammatory opinion of his abilities. As it stands he stopped cutting my hair after my final request, left it lopsided and stormed off. I then, much amused, waited a further 5-10 minutes for someone to come to the desk so that I could pay for this treatment. It really was an hilarious experience to observe this little man at play, however, I can only assume that the heating instruments applied to my hair (I do not and have never used such instruments) caused the ends to frizzle up the following day, such that I ended up trimming them myself. It's unfortunate, as you were well recommended, yet your staff was truly a prat! And as such I will not be returning to you again.

I've searched the entire island of Oahu since I moved here from LA to find someone who could get my color right and someone who could get my cut right. Finally at Paul Brown Salon I found Paula and Amber. Both are awesome at color. Paula is strictly a colorist. Amber is a colorist and hair cutter extraordinaire I would go to either of them for tricky haircolor like mine or for any wonderful hair color you would like. Amber's talent for cutting hair is so refreshing! She has sophisticated styling techniques that I have not found anywhere else. I feel lucky that I found both of these fantastically talented ladies at Paul Brown Salon'

Overall satisfied customer for 30+ years back when Paul Brown used to do my color/ cuts always great! My last visit was not good! Went from golden highlighted roots to ashy black/green colors and almost impossible to fix! If your stylist says lowlights and suggests you sign a disclaimer to fix color RUN! In all fairness it took two separate visits and the color is better but still nothing like what I have got in the past and to pay $250 it should be awesome and it was not good! BTW Paul Brown was not the stylist it was another stylist at Paul Brown Salon!

I go to Patty for lash tinting and brow waxing. Love her and her work. With online scheduling and reminders it is so much easier to set up appointments now. Also, it frees up the phone lines so that when you call you are no longer on hold forever waiting for your turn to make an appt.

Really got the Las Vegas hustle, told 70.00 dollars for a two step vibrant root touch up. I do just the front, lilac. Thought thattwas low but I saidsgreat andanooked iti The stylist tried to charge 225.00 and when I said I thought 70 was low, Mind you their WEBCITE says 82.00 two step processing! I walked out with wet hair when then she tried to charge even more if I wanted my hair blow dried. Go back to Vegas girl

I usually go in to see Secha at Paul Brown when I need something done with my hair whether it be a haircut or permanent straightening. My 7 year old son has been recently asking for a haircut and blue highlights in his hair. I made sure to ask Secha if it was ok to have my child come in for an appt. We get there at 1:00, I understand she tends to go over time to make her clients look fabulous so she didn’t see us until 1:30. Secha did a wonderful job on my son’s hair. He was not and is not a wiggly child and can sit still for almost 3 hours. Bless both of them for being so patient through the process. All my friends on Facebook really like the transformation pics! Paul Brown Salon and Day Spa at Ward Centre is where I've been going to get my facial, waxing, and hair done for about two years now. The place is clean, with a nice relaxing atmosphere. The staff is very kind, helpful, and professional. I've been going to George and Nathan for my facials and waxing, and they are both wonderful. I go to Ian for my hair coloring/highlights and cuts. He is very knowledgeable and kind. I've learn a lot about my skin and hair from these professionals. I like to do my facial/waxing and hair color/highlights and hair cut all done in the same day. When I'm finally done, I leave the salon looking and feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and anew. The services can be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

This review is for Patty! I won't let anyone else do my eyebrows after being referred to her. I always had a problem with brow ladies making my brows either VERY THIN or they look like they didn't do anything at all - Patty figures out just the right amount! She's very sweet, and does a great job even with my weird uneven shaped face LOL. Thanks Patty! I also had my makeup done by Greg (?) once and it was great! NOTE - you can't leave tip on your card here so make sure to bring some cash. I'm always guilty of forgetting this :(

I got referred to Paul through a third party. I am actually pretty upset and was a tiny bit when it was 'styled'. The haircut wasn't inherently BAD, it just wasn't right for my hair. His dry cut is nothing like the Deva Curl curl by curl cut. I have 3 different textures in my hair, and said as much. Paul is a very nice guy, but I didn't feel he listened, at all. He kept asking me the same things over and over and seemed preoccupied. Now, I have super short curls in the front that I can't do anything but pin back, because if they get wind blown or just are out for the day, I have an afro (top), and there is a complete disconnect all around with weird lengths (not even layers). With 40+ years, he's probably seen a lot, but I can't say I will be going back for anymore 'curly cuts' anywhere in Hawaii. I would not recommend him for people with multiple curly textures in their hair.
