He was able to save my hair with the least damage possible. My next step was to add some hair extensions. I LOVE THEM!! I barely feel them their. We got a terrified call from our daughter that her hair was falling out in clumps from a bad treatment. We called avant garde to see if there was any way to make it less bad or stop further damage but the guy was extremely nasty even though we talked civilly to him. This is a incompetent business with a nasty attitude. Luckily we found another salon with some experience in fixing avant-garde disasters so we were able to remedy a little bit. I feel bad I can't give it negative stars. Do not get a chemical process here. They do not take responsibility for mistakes!

GIO IS AMAAAAZING! For basically 25 years I've been trying to find someone who not only listens to what i want, but understands it. I just got my hair chopped off from halfway down my back to my shoulders, to an edgy cut. This is both a huge transition and not an easy cut. He made the whole process so easy and comfortable, and it turned out precisely how i wanted it. The front desk also listened and knew exactly who to send me to, so props to everyone there for knowing how to give people what they all for in the best way possible. The salon itself is super clean and plays great music... good vibes all around. I also didn't feel like i was in a snooty place, everyone was friendly. This is new, sometimes i leave a salon feeling like i never want to see those people again, but I'd actually like to take these guys all out for drinks!!! ❤❤❤

One star because I couldn't give zero. I was dyeing my hair for the first time ever and decided to come here based off reviews and made my appointment with JOTA. I made sure to have a consultation before doing anything, since it was my first time and I was also concerned about the price (I have long hair). We spent 47 minutes talking about the dyeing process, looking through celebrity pictures I had saved on my phone, what to expect and the price, etc. I wanted to be a very light bleached blonde (think khaleesi but not as platinum), which he assured me could be done in one session. After four hours of doing my hair what he revealed was a TWEETY -YELLOW hair color which was patchy in a lot of areas. Also there were strands he missed so my natural hair color was mixed in with the yellow mess. As I'm ready to pay I see him whispering to the lady at the register and he heads off to the back . When I go to pay I find out its an additional $80 on top of what he quoted me because I have long hair and two bottles of toner were used. In those 47 minutes we spent talking, he didn't notice my hair was long and give me an honest quote?? In his defense it was his last day before a 2 week vacation so maybe he didn't gaf. Never going there again.

Wonderful place. The staff was friendly helpful and knew what they are doing. My friend and I had a last min trip to Miami and so we didn't have time to get to our home salon. They were able to squeeze us in last min for pedicures and my friend for a manicure. They were able to work with my toes that have had a few nails permanently removed. Even the one that was trimmed permanently 3 months ago and was still a bit red and tender. Also there was no smell. Very well ventilated. Also sanitation stations everywhere to clean all tools.

Cool hair salon in the Gables. My cousin referred me there. She was right. My wait was average as expected in most busy places. But once it was my turn it was great. Yasel has been my hairdresser for 2 years now and doing a fantastic job, especially with my color. When he mentioned today that they had changed product lines to INOA L’Oreal I was freaking out. He assured me that he had trained in NY for 4 days last week at the L’Oreal Academy and that I wouldn’t be disappointed. OMG he was absolutely right! I love my color! I have two (2) friends who will probably be a bit annoyed with me for what I am about to say. Reason is bc they both own salon’s, separate salons. Here goes; you will not find a better salon than Avant Garde from Miami to (as an example), NYC. I won’t comment on all the salons in NYC but I will give you names of two (2) where I have gone. There’s NoMad Salon and Shear Bliss. Both highly rated but unnecessary to go that far. As a whole, Avant Garde is equivalent if not better than both. There are several factors that I believe are common denominators for an excellent salon, whether you are male or female. I will clarify briefly and only on a few of these below. In a nutshell, and in my opinion, some of these common elements are: . I want to look better when I walk out than when I walked in. . I want to feel I made the right decision by choosing this salon . I would like a one (1) stop, shop salon . I want to look great without spending a fortune . I want to feel comfortable not only with the decor but the general attitude and atmosphere of the salon. This atmosphere is perpetuated by the owner, the stylists, the experts in the area where your hair is washed and head messaged, nail techs and by anyone who makes their presence known as an employee. I prefer not to wait forever for my stylist. A bit tardy is understandable but everyone has their own criteria for acceptability. I also want to be pampered and respected . No drama or please . Our stylist needs to be honest with us, not just tell us what we want to hear. At Avant Garde, EVERY stylist is amazing. Not necessarily in the same area but in something. E.g., my stylist may excel at Balyage, but that doesn’t mean he or she isn’t great with every other aspect like, cut, highlights, style, and blow dry. It’s just that Balayge is their area of particular expertise. There may be several stylists who excel at the same/similar thing however, as a client, I want the whole package. The Stylists are all phenomenal and I’m not exaggerating. The staff, including the owner(s) who tries to be at the salon regularly, have a professional, cordial, happy and knowledgeable demeanor. I am the client, they want to be sure the client is happy and so they will be pleased to do (within reason), whatever it takes to make me happy. If I have a first time appointment and my stylist and I don’t have quite the right “chemistry”, the owner’s priority is you and she will suggest a different stylist. Not as in some salons where you are locked in to the first stylist you meet. I could go on and on, but in summary, Avant Garde will not disappoint. They have clients who range in age from small children to elderly. You WILL look great. I have been told by people I don’t even know that my hair style, color and etc. is beautiful. I feel good and I know whomever goes to Avant Garde will also.

My stylist cams to welcome me a few minutes later .His name is Yas , he gave me a consultation and we discussed all the possibilities for my hair, he also gave the price for the services before to start ( very appreciate. we decided that the best option was highlights and an olaplex treatment. My hair came out beautiful ! The salon is very busy , nice ambience everybody is very friendly. I will definitely go back !

I wanted to get my hair done when I was a senior in high school for prom and I asked him to do a specific style and did the complete opposite. The hairdresser was an absolute horrible stylist. I asked him to do specific braids with curls like in the picture. He did my hair so quickly and my hair did not last at all. It was one of the worse jobs and he did not listen in what I wanted. NEVER GO HERE IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME NOR MONEY!!!!! LUCKILY, I KNEW HOW TO FIX IT!!! CHARGED ME $100!!!!!!! FOR HORRIBLE HAIR!! DON'T WAIST YOUR TIME HERE!!!!

I was there yesterday and as always, Avante Garde did not disappoint. From the time I walked in the door to when I left, everyone there is professional and friendly and makes my time there a great experience. Elena did a great job on taking me a little blonder for summer. I've been going to hear for 16 years and I always leave happy. Got a balayage, haircut and style from Yasel. He and everyone who attended me took their time with my long, thick Latina hair and did an amazing job. The atmosphere was very comfortable, everyone was pleasant and I would recommend it. Tips must be left in cash though (they have an ATM on site), but it can’t be left on the card. The prices I would say are on the higher end, but I got what I paid for and am satisfied.

W O W! There are no words to describe how thrilled I am with how my hair came out. This is my 4th time at Avant Garde and I have never left disappointed. This place is top notch. You feel at home from the moment you walk in till the moment you leave. Where do I start off with Rafael? There are hair stylists, and there's Rafael....he’s a TRUE master. Being from Miami, I've been to many well known salons and I've never had a better stylist. He can look at any picture you show him, analyze and nail it. He listens, airs on the side of caution and ensures I always leave with exactly what I have asked for. I have never met such a meticulous and precise stylist/hair colorist. You can instantly tell that he is gifted in what he does in which he brings out a diamond in the rough with each of his clients’ hair. We also can’t forget to mention how sweet the ladies who help shampoo and condition clients’ hair. This will be my forever go to salon. I don't think I've written a review in years, but when someone is that good, you just have to pay it forward.

I'm from Chicago and needed a place down in Miami to get my hair colored. I sort of accidentally walked in and decided to give Avant-Garde Salon a try and wouldn't even think to go anywhere else now. I go to Edward for my color and cut. He is amazing- I love my hair every time I walk out. I get compliments on my color all the time since going to him - I've switched up my color from the first time I came in and he pinpoints my needs every time ~ ! He truly does a great job- The entire staff is all very friendly - highly recommend ! :)

Unprofessional. I used to get my hair done by Anthony. The first few times he did a good job. The time I decided to never to go back to him was because while cutting my hair he was more focused on following a co-worker with his eyes instead of looking at what he was doing with my hair... I ended up with ridiculously short bangs and a choppy haircut.

Absolutely amazing service, very experienced, knowledgable and friendly to boot! Such excellent and caring service, and so many options with the latest in styles, tools, products and technology. It's no wonder this is the longest continuously operating salon in Miami. I would not go anywhere else. All of the stylists are terrific but I particularly like Marcelo, who also happens to be the co-owner. I would put Avant Garde on par with any salon New York or London has to to offer in terms of technical skill and training, and as said already the service is very warm and inviting. The salon is also very attractive and comfortable to be in. Very reasonable prices for the level of service. The salon is always busy and they cater to a wide range of clients in terms of style, age, gender. Really versatile.

I went last week for the first time , for Balayage and haircut , after reading the good reviews on google and yelp . I was not disappointed. This place deserves a 5* from bigining to end . The front desk is very friendly and professional. I reserved an amazing shampoo, i 've been offered a glass of wine . And my hair came out amazing, it was the first time that I was doing color on my hair . I really recommend this place and will definitely go back very soon

Yasel is my stylist here, and he is amazing. Yesterday I went in for new highlights and told him that this time I wanted grey and silver versus the usual blonde highlights to hide my grey. He had his doubts, but after showing him pics I found on Pinterest, he agreed to do them. The result was much better than any of the pics on Pinterest. My phone camera isn't great but I'll try to post some pics that he and I both took. Highly recommend having Yasel doing your hair.
