They made a mistake with my appointment. They changed the time and the stylist, so when I showed up, the stylist I was scheduled for had left and I was out of luck. The kicker was the non-apologetic attitude. Guess my search for a new salon continues.

I've been going to Michael Christopher for years, and I love Kim in particular. I showed her a picture of what my hair color was in high school, and she's been able to make it match with helping me with my grey as well. I always feel great leaving there, and it was the first salon I ever went to that had computers and wifi available for clients. They also have amazing accessories for sale up front, and I always find something for myself or gifts for friends that are unique and special.

To all the ladies that love the look of hair extensions - DO NOT give Shawn Kenenske a chance to damage and destroy your hair and steal your money like he did mine. I came to Michael Christopher Salon for a consult with Shawn Kenenske in March (2018). I then paid the SALON a $400 deposit so they could order my hair and scheduled my appointment for 3/21/18. The salon closed due to snow that day and Shawn messaged me asking if I wanted to come to his house instead. Naturally, I accepted since I had been told he was an amazing color specialist and extension expert with 15 years experience. I spent 10 hours at his house while he attempted to remove my current extensions (hot fusions) with a flat iron melting and smearing the adhesive all the way down my hair. He saturated my head in acetone to help break up the adhesive after he realized what he did. It was a 5.5 hour process alone for him to get them out by picking and breaking my hair profusely. I was hoping for a miracle with the new extensions (beaded loop & lock type) to hide the damage that had been done since there was no turning back at that point. Instead of ordering the color we discussed (brown/blonde ombre), he ordered a solid dark brown and bleached the entire bottom solid blonde. No blend, no ombre, it literally looked like I had grown out roots. The hair I just spent hundreds of dollars on was now dry, coarse and brittle after being stripped of its quality with bleach. While this was going on he was coloring my daughters hair as well. Needless to say her color was just as horrific. I went back to him a few days later (would not let my daughter) to have him "blend" my hair better, hoping to be able to deal with it. I then got home and realized my color was so uneven and I was devastated. After all the time and money I spent I now had to go to a new salon for corrective color, new extensions and information on how to start the rehab process for what was done to my hair by Shawn Kenenske. This cost me a fortune. I tried contacting him for resolution, he accepted some responsibility and gave me "part" of my money back only to then threaten me as he called the police saying I was harassing him when I questioned what I am supposed to do about the rest of my money he owes me and the damage he did to my hair. I decided to call the salon a few days later to speak with a manager since Shawn represents Michael Christopoher salon where I paid my deposit and booked my appointment. Manager Rhonda Hutchinson told me she would look into the situation and get back to me. When I didn't hear from her I followed up only for her to tell me the police have been called again by Shawn and have advised her not to talk to me or allow me on their property! I’m completely shocked that a salon with such great reputation would treat a customer like this. I never once raised my voice or was rude or harassing of any sort whatsoever. I handled the situation with utmost respect and professionalism. I am completely flabbergasted at the way I am being treated and want to let the public know to be careful. Do not accept Shawn Kenenske's invitation to his salon at his house. Michael Christopher Salon will not stand by his work, provide any sort of customer service, or consider you a paying customer.

How Can We Help

Don't be fooled, not as good as it used to be back in the 90's. They moved less than 2 months ago and didn't even put a banner on their website home page. I traveled 1 hr to get there and it was a vacant lot. Been there 2x in the last 2 years and had 2 bad cuts. They are petrified to go short even if you say that's what you want. Lady took 3 tries to get color right (over 2.20 hrs) and (according to the website) she specialized in coloring. Your reception needs to do a better job matching up new customers with the right stylist. They gave me the oldest man in the place. Final visit was today.

For booking my sister's wedding day hair and makeup, I was told that this salon was highly regarded and had an extremely talented on-staff makeup artist, Kristina. I made a call to the salon mid-September to make bridal hair and makeup appointments for the end-of-February (five months in advance). The makeup was *specifically* booked with Kristina. We arrived at the salon last Saturday and not only was she not in the salon, but the front desk didn't even have her scheduled in our appointment. The woman at the front desk just looked at me with a blank stare and clearly didn't know what to do. In fact, she told me my appointment wasn't entered into the system until February 13th. How? I have no idea. There was no call to Kristina or to the owner at this moment in time. The reason I am upset is that nothing was done to try and rectify the situation- we weren't offered anything, we didn't receive any apology, and I still haven't received a call from management with some sort of explanation as to how a "mix up" like this could occur. I was and still am just extremely annoyed and frustrated to have paid nearly $200 for a service which put a sour taste in my mouth and will not be returning to what I have heard is an excellent salon, as I think they're lacking in the customer service department. Despite this situation, I will say that Angela was wonderful and sweet and was apologetic. I know that this was not the error of Kristina, but rather an incompetent scheduling assistant, whoever it was who took our appointment (I so wish I took her name).
