Thank you guys so much! My appointment was with Mary, and as a first-time visitor I was nervous at first because Deva cuts were not listed on the website as one of Mary's specialties. But really I had nothing at all to worry about - everyone in The Station is DevaCut certified and Mary definitely knew what she was doing. She didn't make a big deal about my hair being curly - it's always nerve-racking when a hairdresser sees curly hair as a project or challenge rather than just a cut - she was very informative about the steps she was taking to cut and style my hair, and she actually knew how to use a diffuser! (I know that doesn't seem like a big deal, but other curly-haired people will understand my relief considering the serious lack of diffuser knowledge I have encountered at salons). I was seriously so relaxed during the whole process. I knew Mary had my back and wouldn't make me look like a poodle when all was said and done. As for the ambiance of the salon, it was so perfect! The salon is small, personal, and very comfortable - I believe there's less than 10 chairs total and they are well-spread due to the U-shape of the space. The music wasn't too loud but also awesome - at least 2 Alabama Shakes songs came on when I was there. There was enough space between each chair so you weren't trying to talk over the guest/stylist beside you. And there was a legitimate effort to make you comfortable - the concierge and Mary both offered me water and coffee while I was waiting. Overall, as a curly-haired person, I highly recommend going to the Station and seeing Mary. You won't be disappointed at all and the whole experience was equivalent to a spa-day in my mind. Megan is a talented, experienced, and professional stylist. I gave Megan very little direction and asked her to do what she thought would look best on me. Not only did she give me a fantastic cut and highlights, she took time to teach me how to style and care for my curls when I'm home. What a great experience with amazing results - this was money well spent! And I couldn't help but notice the great cuts others were getting as well. I'll defintely be a regular at this salon!! As a curly haired girl I've had more bad experiences with hairstylists than I can count and trust very few people with my hair. I was anxious about trying a new place but was long overdue for a cut and color. After researching, reading reviews, and comparing salons in Denver I decided to try The Station. The parking for The Station totally sucks and it's a far drive from my house, but the staff is super friendly, the salon is clean and welcoming, and the haircut....oh my god the haircut. I got the best cut, color, and styling of my life at this salon. My appointment was with Sandy who was absolutely wonderful. She really takes the time to understand your hairs history and what look you're trying to achieve all while helping you better understand your hair and how to properly care for it. It was a long appointment and definitely not cheap, but completely worth it. I will 100% be returning and 100% recommend going here especially if you're curly haired.

Came to the station as a new client after reading so many good reviews saying this was the place to be if you have cury hair. Unfortunately the haircut I received was much shorter than I wanted (even though I had a picture of exactly what I was looking for). I went to this appointment wanting to fix a bad haircut only to receive a haircut I dislike even more and left in tears. I would highly recommend seeing a more experienced stylist if you have tight curls.

I was really nervous getting my thick, curly hair cut for the first time after moving to Denver. The Station was recommended by a curly haired friend and it was a great experience. Jeanna was really helpful and spent lots of time explaining what she was doing and giving advice for easy styling at home. The washing tubs were the most comfortable I've ever used - reclining chairs and a rest for the back of your head so you don't have to strain your neck. Overall, the experience was great and the haircut was exactly what I wanted. Tip: go to the studio with your hair as your normally wear it. They often do dry cuts so having your hair already in it's naturally curly state makes things easier.

I went to The Station this past weekend with my daughter for her 10th birthday. The whole experience was great! She wasn't really sure she wanted a whole lot done, but Cheree trimmed and styled it and she was very happy. In good salons, it's hard to find somebody who does well with kids but my daughter said she was very nice to her and she would love to go back. I had seen Marie, who specializes with curly hair. It is VERY hard to find somebody who knows what they're doing with my hair. I had always been told that it's "too thin" or how certain cuts would never work, such as layering. She proved them wrong. She was able to give me exactly what I wanted (even though upon walking in I wasn't really sure what that was.) She also showed me exactly what to do for styling instead of leaving me on my own to figure it out. I will definitely be going here from now on.

As most curly haired people, it is always a risk to have someone cut your hair. I am just happy when I get a hair cut that I was butchered, no matter that it wasn't cut into a style. Not with Megan. She immediately saw where my hair needed to be shaped and tamed without making me look like a poodle. I am trying to grow my hair out from a very short cut and much to my amazement she gave me a style without cutting the length from where it needed not to be cut. She also gave me a tutorial on how to keep my hair from frizzing and how to style it. She did not push their products on me, as I have a cabinet full. I made another appointment right on the spot..... which I never do.

great experience with jenna, she came highly recommended on reddit curly hair and came through with a great cut. she even blow dried my hair with the ends curly. usually stylists who do curly hair aren't able to blow dry my hair with the ends curly, they usually just diffuse it but she did it really well. I have curly hair so I do not trust just anyone with my hair. When I came here for the first time I was so nervous but they showed me how absolutely professional they are and they are EXPERTS with curly hair. Meaning they taught me how to style my hair and it has never been the same (because now i have fluffy soft curls every day). They give you a great cut, treat you like a queen, and teach you how to keep it up. Please if you have curly hair just go to the experts. 2-23-17 addition I would like to add about how incredibly happy I am with my experience with The Station Hair Studio. I went yesterday and had my hair straightened and it turned out beautiful! My boyfriend literally told me he never saw my hair so shiny. AND IT ONLY TOOK AN HOUR (it usually can take up to 3 hours to straighten my hair)!!!! They treated me like a queen giving me wine and treated my hair so gently I could barely feel her working on my hair. LOVE LOVE LOVE THE STATION!

This is a review for the stylist Shadie. I saw some individuals leave with some great looking haircuts so I can only speak for my stylist. The first issue is when we sat down she didn't ask me many questions about my hair. My hair curls differently on the top layer and bottom layer. It is wavy on the top and corkscrew curls on the bottom layer. In the past other stylists have kept my top layer longer than other curly cuts so the waves have a chance to form. She cut the layers on top very short and probably cut 4-5 inches off some areas, my Deva cuts in the past have been choppy but this is on a different level for me. Then when it came to wash and dry we had to wait quite a while for a bowl to open up, which was a first for me at any salon. Then she had me sit under the dryer and when we came back she kept touching my curls so I watched them get frizzier and frizzier. We could both tell immediately that my hair cut had hurt my curl pattern because non of them perked up. She said it was because I don't air dry, which isn't true, I air dry my hair often. Then she offered to rewash and dry but at this point my hair was so frizzy and my curls looked so sad I wanted to just get out of there. She was overall very kind, I think she just can't adapt to any hair that isn't standard easy curls. Again multiple people left with great looking, hydrated curls, so if you are considering my recommendation is to not book with Shadie.

Short cuts can be disastereous on me with my hair texture but Jeanna gave me a wonderful angled bob. I've seen her twice since then, and have been happy every time. Like most curly haired girls, I have had more bad experiences with good experiences with hairstylists cutting my hair. Additionally, I have extremely thin hair so it takes awhile for the mistakes to grow out (hello short layers that shrink up to long bangs I never wanted, I'm looking at you). However, since February 2017 I have been going to Jeanna (pronounced Gina) and she is ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!! Since I have thin hair, I only need to go in 3-4 months for a trim and she impresses me every time. Not only does she cut my thin curly hair so it looks three times as voluminous (even when I recreated it at home), she remembers me, my hair and the details of my life. Over the last year, I've had some health issues that haven't allowed me to go in - when I called in to see if I could get in for a cut after not being in for one year, Jeanna and The Hair Studio totally worked with me so I can go in as it works for me! Highly recommend! PS The space is absolutely amazing as well - if you are looking for a little "me" time where you will come out with fabulous curly hair AND feeling that magical upbeat zen way after someone pampers you - go see Jeanna!

I didn't find this place rebounding from a horrendous haircut somewhere else. I already had a place and a stylist that I was pretty pleased with. Granted my curly hair always got blown straight after the cut, and wearing it curly meant severe and edgy for a while; but that was just the way I had come to accept curly haircuts. I was referred to The Station and am definitely sticking around. The entire haircut was different--from cutting it dry while considering what my curls actually like to do, to the way she put product in it and advised me how to do it as well (in the shower, who'd a thunk?). Even after she dried and styled it she said, "go ahead and touch it, feel it, what do you think?" She didn't just spin me around in a chair at the end to give me a look of the back with a mirror. The hair cut was not necessarily over, we still did a few detail-snips.Does it sound too crazy to use the word 'participatory'? Anyways, it didn't cost any more than other salons, and I wasn't even up-sold haircuts every 6 weeks. I will be back for my next cut!

All the stylists here are so talented and will take great care of you, but I have especially loved my experience with Jamie -- so down-to-earth and informative about the Deva Curl process. In the past at other salons, I never got something that 100% satisfied me. I thought, "Well, maybe no hairdresser can do EXACTLY what I want. Maybe my expectations and tastes are unrealistic," and I was resigned to my fate of always having one part of my hair a little too blunt cut, a shelfy layer hiding beneath others, bangs not exactly the volume or length i thought i was getting, or some variation of a similar, small disappointment.. Until I walked away from my first appointment with Mary! I left the first time very satisfied with a run-of-the-mill trim and styling. I had zero complaints. The second visit was even better! I tried something totally new with a shaped cut. Mary spent maybe an hour and a half trimming tiny, tiny bits away to give my hair the PERFECT CUT in any way it fell. I was almost nervous with how long she had scissors in her hands, but she went through every part, piece and layer of my hair and made sure it was flawless. Mary's superior skills aside, she and the rest of the staff are also very level, kind, not overly sales-manlike people. The atmosphere is very nice. Their salon chairs are comfortable and their hair washing station is discrete and tucked away. Good prices on their salon products as well. Over all, 10 out of 10.

This was my first curly cut (and quite frankly my first real salon appointment) and I was not at all disappointed. I was nervous at first, but Jeanna quickly put me at ease, answered all of my questions, and let me know exactly what kinds of products to go for and how to style. We didn't even take that much off (I want to eventually grow it out-she let me know the best way to do that too) and my hair feels so much lighter and bouncier! Controlled but still soft and touchable. Jeanna was amazing and would definitely recommend her. Everyone else I interacted with was also friendly and welcoming. I debated on salons to go to for a while before deciding, and I'm very glad I chose The Station! Will be back in 6 months!

If you have curly or wavy hair, this place is for you! Staff is amazing and super accommodating. Salon is open on both Saturdays and Sundays which is really helpful for those of us who depend on the weekend to get stuff done. I have wavy hair and I have never left here with a haircut that was less than fabulous. Full disclosure: I waited a full year after moving to Denver, before I made an appointment here because it is pricer than the average salon for a hair cut. That being said, these ladies are curly hair specialists and your haircut will last longer. Megan is my hair savior but everyone here is terrific.

I'm a difficult/easy client in that I ask the hairstylists for their suggestions and usually let them do their thing on my hair. Some stylists are really bad at that. Or they give you the same haircut they give everyone else. Not Megan. I got a fantastic cut (I'm not even writing this the day I got it cut), and yummy color. Yes, of course I'll be back and every person who asks me "who cuts your curls?" I'll send them her way.

I brought in a picture of the style I was hoping to replicate, with a few alterations, and came out with exactly that. She knew how to treat curls, and was very friendly, though not overly chatty--which is kind of nice. I'd definitely recommend her to other friends in search of a stylist. The best part? It's now weeks later, and my husband--who isn't particularly perceptive about these things--still keeps randomly looking up at me and saying things like "You look so beautiful. This was a really good haircut." So, consider me sold on this place...

Just found this place on here yesterday and they happened to have an opening on my lunch break. Let me just say, could not have asked for a better experience and a nicer hair stylist. Megan was comprehensive about what I wanted while still making it her own and I was really blown away. I am rarely thrilled with my hair cuts but I must've gotten at least 20 compliments on it, including one from an older lady on my street who STOPPED ME ON THE SIDEWALK. Love this place and these people. Five stars, if there was an option for more I would've use it. Thank you.

The Station has been fantastic since it opened. The front desk staff is really warm and friendly. I have been seeing Jeanna for years and every cut and color is amazing. I have really curly hair and it's always a struggle to find someone that can cut it well. The salon itself is lovely, comfortable, and clean. They have the most amazing chairs for hair washing. Ever.

I am in love with my hair and get random compliments from strangers on a regular basis about how beautiful it is. I have been seeing Megan for over five years now (and have used other stylists at the salon in a pinch) and will never get my hair cut or cared for by anyone else. It's a great cut at a salon with all the wonderful amenities (including a glass of wine) and the most comfortable hair washing sink ever made. You are missing out if you don't give this salon a try.

My cut was perfect and i have received compliments since she cut it on Saturday. Great experience and the best cut I've had for as far back as I can remember. I cry about my terrible haircut from Megan at the Station almost daily. Megan cut my hair a couple months ago and it was a disaster. I have curly hair and went in for a trim. WOW - she gave me a crazy lob mullet instead!!! let me mention that this is just a few months prior to my engagement photos (sadly, I had to cancel them). She even charged me full price knowing I was so upset. I called and spoke with another stylist, Mary, the following day. She stayed late to accommodate my schedule and try to fix the disaster on my head. Karen, the manager, was so gracious and kind and refunded my money without question. Megan however, saw me in the salon, stormed off and never apologized. Months later - I still miss the 5 inches of hair that disappeared that day. I really miss it now that I’m trying on wedding dresses... Should you decide to try out the Station, go see Mary. She's a rock star.

Do not go to this salon. I saw Shadie Lujan two weeks ago after I had grown out my bangs and layers and needed a trim. She cut my bangs straight across with scissors and no layering, leaving the bangs super uneven. She also tried to frame my face way too far back into my hairline, behind my ears. I went to another girl at a different salon to get it fixed, who took the following photos before doing her best to fix it. I then reached back out to the salon several times via phone and was kept on hold for over 10 minutes, told I would get a callback and never got a call back. This happened 3 times. Then I got a response via email telling me because I went to another salon, I would not be eligible for a refund. I sent the photos to the manager, and I then got another response from Karyn the manager via email telling me in a nasty tone that she didn’t see what was “supposedly” wrong with the original cut and that I “got too upset/frustrated” with the receptionist, even though our entire conversation I intentionally kept a calm tone - not easy, considering the manager refused to speak to me on the phone at all. In summary, do not go to The Station unless you want to be used as a guinea pig by stylists that don’t know how to cut hair, then avoided, then chastised for attempting to fix their mistakes.

I needed a new place after deciding I no longer wanted the Ouidad cut. I did my research for curly cuts and this place caught my eye. I read the reviews and then went on their site to see what they were all about. I take my hair seriously and love that this place values continuing education. Hair styles and cuts and color change constantly and knowing my hair place keeps up with it all made me feel good about making the switch. I currently see Megan and would not change her for the world. She knows her stuff! I've recommended several people and everyone has come out satisfied. Besides their awesome skills, they offer new client and referral discounts, which is a nice bonus. If you need a good curly cut, this is the place! If you need anything else, this is also the place. They are all capable stylist.

I had the BEST hair experience here! I had grown-out balyage that needed some love and Megan's coloring gave me an amazing ombre look to blend perfectly with my natural color. I've gotten so many compliments on the color, but also the cut!! I've been trying to bring my curls back to health after tons of damage from heat styling and bleach, not to mention the dry air in CO. The cut Megan gave me is perfection and has made me love my curls again. I haven't worn my hair blown out since! With her helpful styling techniques and better use of products, I now can get 3rd and even 4th day hair with my curls, which was UNHEARD of for my hair before! She's also easy to chat with which is always great when you spend a couple hours in a salon! Thanks Megan and The Station for a great experience in helping me love my hair again!
