Ok, first off, let me say that there is a REASON there is not one negative review about this place and the stylists that work there. Let me start off this saga by a little back story of how I am incredibly impulsive and decided my virgin medium brown hair should be platinum. From a box. From the store. Guys, don't ever try this at home. I promise you, you'll think you're doing it right, and everything will be fine, and you'll end up looking like a make KPop star circa 2009 with a burning scalp and your dignity lost somewhere at the bottom of the sink. Fast forward to me in a puddle of bleach in my bathroom screaming "WHY GOD WHY?!" convinced I would develop agoraphobia if I had to be seen in public like this, and With my nose still running, I tried to find someone who could help me ASAP. I had been to Above Ground before and had amazing results with my haircut. So I saw they had an opening the next morning, booked it without hesitation, and lay down in my bed to think of every mistake I'd ever made, when Callan emailed me right away asking what I was wanting for tomorrow's salvation. Right away, I felt so comfortable and taken care of. He was so kind and so sweet even after I sent him a picture of my orange bob. The next morning was Rockies opening day and OF COURSE traffic was terrible. Callan was SO understanding and told me to be safe and he will see me when I get there. Now to the good stuff. He told me he could fix it and boy did he ever! I almost forgot about how terrible i looked while we were chatting about life, kids, the whole shebang. MY HAIR LOOKED SO GOOD that when i had to leave to run to the ATM to grab more cash, I walked back in and Ashe, the owner, didn't even recognize me! They were like "Holy heck that looks amazing!" I will forever be grateful to Callan for helping me go from mug shot ready, to weekend ready with such grace and comfort. All that aside, I SERIOUSLY appreciate their no hate policy. Like, I don't have time to listen to how someone misses the "good old days" and how "sensitive" we are as a culture. These folks are 100% authentic, 100% themselves, and it totally shows in their work. Thank you SO much Callan and the gang. I will obviously be back (this time for a touch up

Highly recommended!! Amazing staff and friendly fun atmosphere. I always have a great experience. I usually don't have a lot of time with my work schedule so, timing is key. They are always able to get me in and out quickly with a professional cut! Not to mention they are putting out some of the most innovate hair styles I've ever seen. My regular stylist was out of town and so I went in and was not disappointed. I also met Nik or maybe Nicholas he was a delightful stylist too. I absolutely LOVE this salon!!! I've been getting my hair done by Ashe for around 12 years and have always been completely over the moon with every single cut and color they've ever given me. Ashe is incredibly talented, creative and comes up with something new and fun to do with my color every single time. Along with the creative color, Ashe has given me the best haircuts I've ever had in my entire life, hands down. If I ever move away, I would even be willing to fly back here every few months just to get my hair done by Ashe. Every person who works at Above Ground is always so very friendly and welcoming. I look forward to my visits here because I get to spend time with all of the wonderful people who work there. It's such a warm and inviting space to all. I recommend this salon to people all the time and if I could give it more stars, I would!

Had balayage color and cut done by Brian and I'm so pleased! I've lived in Denver my whole life and had pretty much given up hope on finding someone who understood what I was looking for with my hair. He took the time to listen to exactly what I wanted and made me feel very cared for. He is incredibly meticulous and it is beautiful to observe. A true artist. He also didn't ask me any invasive personal questions and didn't seem to mind if I just sat there quietly, which I appreciated. My sister had her hair cut by Ashe and her brows waxed by Stacy and she is very happy as well! She looks super cute and her energy has been very upbeat and positive since our visit. We will both be back soon for sure!

Stacy cut my hair and was absolutely amazing. It’s the first time I’ve had a real hair cut in over 15 years (I used to just use hair clippers and shave my head with a 1 razor). I showed her pictures of what I want my hair to look like when it grows out a little more and she set my haircut up perfectly to help grow into that look.
