The owner of this gym does not care about you-just your money. Just look up when you enter and in the corner in the treadmill area and your going to see some seriously moldy ceiling tiles from leaks in the roof that pour every time it rains. You’ll see buckets to catch the drips. Equipment is often broken or close to it. Take a look in the treadmill area and you’ll see filthy cup holders that you don’t want to put anything in. It’s really hot working out in the summer because the AC only runs over the treadmill area and they keep the thermostat in the mid 70s. Towels are old and scratchy and the locker rooms are known to be gross and unclean. Over the years I’ve seen so many staff that just don’t care and can often be rude. Yeah-they’re doing their typical hail mary dog and pony show with a new yoga studio and fake turf, but wait until you’re doing yoga in a sweltering room with no AC during the summer. Tanning rooms are just dirty and you’re lucky if the bottle of spray cleaner works. Water machines are often broken, unclean, and empty. But feel free to enjoy the sauna if you can avoid the trail of spit on the floor inside of it.

I love this gym! The staff are so friendly and they keep it very clean. The instructors and classes are wonderful and they have everything you need for a great workout! It's so exciting to be a part of Onelife and look forward to the new gym they are building!

I've been to several Gold's, this one is a little rough around the edges. I've been ignored by staff a couple times, and some of the equipment is in need of repair. Every time I've come here I have to waste time looking for plates, it seems like they migrate all over. Bottles of sanitizer also seem to be scarce.

All except for the dude who brings his amp in and blasts his music when others are working out and wearing head phones (they really need to not let him do this or do it at 2am when no one is there) its great! Friendly staff, nice atmosphere for the most part,lots of programs and clean functioning equipment.

The gym may be alright and the management friendly, but their account handling is extremely inept. I closed my membership a few months ago, following their policy of waiting a year, made a separate call to the accounting dept. and was assured I would see no further monthly fees on my account. Well, guess what...they are still charging me and after 3 phone messages left for management and accounting, this has still not been taken care of. That, my friends, is reason enough to steer clear of this establishment.

I've been working out in gyms since I was a teen and I'm 46 now. I travel a lot for my job so I've worked out in gyms all over the country. This is the first time that I have written a review, but I felt this gym and the staff deserve a really good review. This gym and the staff here have made my experience here in Martinsburg one to remember. The staff has treated me and my family like family. They are extremely nice and professional. The gym is always clean, there is enough equipment so during busy time you still never have to wait. I can not say enough good things about this gym and the staff. I will miss this gym and the staff when this project s comes to and end, and I have to leave. Thanks.

We need a Bally's or L.A. Fitness I always thought the best gym Martinsburg ever had was Martinsburg Health and Fitness at the Holiday inn but thats gone now thanks to a buy out of the hotel and allegedly frivolous law suits 2nd to that was Rando's (didnt last long) then Id say Golds in Charlestown then Extreme then Golds in Martinsburg if for no better reason then the fact that (for people who care) they dont repair things that need fixed fast enough including padding on benches or resting pads for arms, broken treadmills etc... Next is the slide rails on smith machines are never lubricated not allowing for smooth operation Extreme has the same problem 3rd unless you work out between 12-4 a.m. then a few times a month your gonna run into a handful of teens holding up a piece of equipment that you need to use staring at their smartphones and talking to each other 4th they reported me to a collection agency for owing them 1 dollar and not knowing it didnt find out until I got my credit checked and looked into it be careful about that just a heads up and 5th there tanning beds use old lights that are way past there replacement dates so there effectiveness is terrible (use lotions) 6th they refill there water jugs with water from the water hose its not clean filtered water at all (bring your own) and the employees rarely refill the jugs anyway and if youve ever been there lets face it the equipment could be so much cleaner as many ppl that use this gym they should have someone cleaning all the equipment almost round the clock for 2015 this is really not up to standard its my understanding that none of this is managements fault by the way Ive heard how at least in the past managers try to get the owner to agree to change things to make it better but he refuses but thats 2nd hand info. Still I give it 2 stars because they do have good classes and have some unique things like the movie theater I think thats cool also I like it that they blast music that way you dont have these morons walking around blasting music on their cell phones like at the mom and pops gyms. All in all this is just my humble review but maybe im picky considering theres at least 80 cars parked outside at any given time in fact there isnt a gym in this county that isnt overcrowded pretty much between 7a.m.-11.30p.m. without a doubt the best "health club" in our area is at Shepherd University If you can deal with the all student staff and afford the price they definitely blow everyone else away but make sure you get a parking pass before you do anything else trust me on that one. At the end of the day this county needs a 5 story Bally's or L.A. Fitness spread the crowd out a little bit and provide a better quality of Health Club I think most would agree its time for out with the old in with the new.

This was recently a Gold's gym and Onelife Fitness recently took over but just like any Onelife Fitness center the customer service doesn't skip a beat! The front desk staff is amazing super personable and the kids club staff really are great with the children. The General Manager Wes really goes out of his way for all members superb gentleman!! The classes are great with energy and I really like the open concept floor plan. I can not wait for the changes to come as Onelife takes over. And I am SUPER excited about the BRAND new facility they are building there!!

I workout there 3-4 times a week. It has become a hangout for the workers to do nothing but talk. The evenings are the worst 8 out of 10 (80%) workers in the evenings are "BROTHAS" trying to make out with the white women . I can't even bring my children in the evenings because they play that trash music about bitches shaken there booty's in the air. I mean where have all the mature people gone? DISGUSTING !

Don't get strung along by Gold's Gym Martinsburg! If you want to cancel your Gold's Gym account, then you need to (as per the contract's fine-print) inform the gym's ACCOUNTING department via email, and as of that moment they'll make you pay for 30 more days. Don't get FOOLED by the slick-talking line they say at the front desk "Cancel at any time." This is deliberately incomplete information. If you press them on it, they'll admit that what is correct is that you can give your 30-day-notice at any time; but even then they don't always tell you that the 30 days starts ONLY if you notify the Accounting Dept. via email. If you just let the front desk know "I'm giving my 30 days notice now", then you are going to get had, because they will tell you that your account is cancelled or that "we've taken care of it," but meanwhile they will keep on charging you. I've been strung along for 3 months now, while they kept charging me. Only after about 10 phone calls (over the course of those months) have I now (supposedly) gotten my account cancelled, and--though polite--they still wouldn't give me back the money for the unused months, even though I made a personal appeal to them.

Love this gym! Have been going for 2 years. Every employee is more than friendly with lots of new equipment. Have to say to the person complaining about treadmills, if folks would tell the staff they were down rather than just jumping to another treadmill they would be addressed much quicker. We have never had a issue with anything. And I have reduced my weight from 305lbs to 233lbs so far. Thanks to Golds Gym

I signed up with one life recently and usually went to the onelife in Hagerstown valley mall. My hubby and I decided to try this one since it was only a little further away. It was so filthy I almost walked out. The kids play area they have was run down and I mean COVERED in grime. The floor mats were actually turning brown! The treadmill and elliptical platform was terrible, I felt other people that were running shaking my treadmill because the floor was not steady. Nobody there wipes down anything, I was the only one there the whole hour that did. The men doing weights next to me never restacked there weights, the employee had to go around doing it for them. So frustrating, it just looked rundown, covered in filth and the machines hardly worked. I will not ever be coming back to this gym. Not worth the price I pay.

I invite the owners to spend a week working out here. Not the quality or standards I think they would want for themselves. Standing pools of water in men's locker room, black mold or mildew on most ceiling tiles, numerous lights burnt out. I was hopeful that One Life would upgrade the place but its been slow in coming.

They have a nice variety of classes & I especially like that they have a room for women only. As a bigger girl, I tend to be a bit self conscious around the people that obviously spend hours in gym everyday.

Its okay just very dirty. There's like only one spray bottle in the whole gym to sanitize equipment and you can tell staff doesn't wipe it down much. However, they are very friendly.

WiFi is consistently down 60% of the time and treadmills etc are down a lot. Could be better. Not thrilled but we are able to get a workout in whenever we like.

I was a member of Golds Gym about 10 years ago when I was a student at Martinsburg High School. I cancelled my membership due to the people that were working their and equipment in disrepair. I can tell you that it is not the case now... The gym is clean, open spaced, and the equipment works for you rather than against you. JJ Bullet, Wes, and front desk person Jordan are wonderful to work with. They really want to help you better yourself. There coolers are always stocked with drinks such as water, sports drinks, preworkout, and protein shakes. Please stop by and give them a chance. I have been a member for about 2 weeks now and honestly sometimes you just need a reset and someone their to give you an extra push.

the zumba classes were the only thing i liked...treadmills barely worked right...staff is pleasant..but the accounting dept sucks!!! was told i was not signing a contract and that i can cancel anytime...i go to cancel they tell me i can only put up to a 90 day hold on my acct..i did that...unsure if i would be back after 90 days, life happens and i forgot about it, got a bill the month after my 90 day hold, for $130, i call to ask about this, was told my "contract" started back up for another yr after the 90 day hold, i asked the guy why i was paying the $30 a month vs the $20 a month so i didn't have to bind in a contract, he could not answer that. "waiting" for another call back.. this same situation happened 10 yrs ago and i swore i would never go back,but i like the fact they have children's room..so figured id try it again, after this time, never again! i asked the guy when i was joining the gym, over and over again that i can cancel at anytime, i do not have the chance to do much because of my job, it just so happened i had 2 mo's that i was able to do something for myself...wanted to make sure when my job needed me again i was able to cancel...he kept saying yes. lier!

The building is old and run down with major leaks and possible mold. The tend to have a lot of mechanical problems. However, some members of the staff are actually great and take away from the cosmetic faults.
