I was a daily gym-goer at Sport & Health for over 7 months. Upon signing up to the gym, I had asked the sales representative whether or not the membership was a yearly contract, or if it was a month-by-month membership. She had ASSURED me that there was no contract. Fast forward 7 months, I unfortunately had to move away from Haymarket. I called Sport & Health in attempt to end my membership only to find out I was signed up for a YEAR'S contract, unbeknownst to my knowledge. I was given two options: keep paying $50 a month until my contract ended, or pay a $100 dollar fee to cancel my membership. I tried contacting the Branch Manager, only to be continuously told that Irv, the manager, was either "unavailable" or "in a meeting". I ended up calling Irv over 15 times over the space of 2 months, each time leaving a voicemail asking him to call me back, but to no avail. Finally, after 3 months of being charged for a membership I was not using, I tried calling one more time, only to receive the exact same excuse as to why Irv was busy. With the amount of meetings Irv was in, you would imagine he was the CEO! I managed to get in contact with Jason Hall, the Area Director. Jason, who picked up the phone on the first ring, was glad to help me with my issue, he was very apologetic and rectified the issue within 5 minutes of being on the phone with me. Talk about outstanding customer service! About an hour later Irv FINALLY contacted me, answering the phone in a very unprofessional manner, introducing himself as Tony, before pronouncing my name completely wrong, followed by a childish and immature giggle. This only infuriated me further, and I refused to speak with him. Never in my life had I experienced such incompetence as I did with Irv. I highly suggest that the corporate office addresses this matter, as I'm quite certain I am not the first customer to receive such sub-par customer service from Irv, or "Tony" as he calls himself. However, I am very grateful for Jason's kind and professional conduct. May I suggest he run a customer service workshop with Irv, if of course, Irv is not too busy with meetings.

Dana Wright is an excellent Barre instructor! The class is challenging but always fun and engaging. Great full body workout with low impact. Her Piyo class is excellent too.

I love getting to work at such a great gym. I love seeing all the kids grow up during the many years that I have worked there. The staff is very helpful and friendly. My kids have enjoyed coming to the gym. They loved the parent's night outs, camps, swimming, and the Kidz Klub.

Gym is well equipped and great kid care. Downfalls would include lack of cleaning each evening, coming into trash at opening and weights everywhere, moved by staff and customers. Annual “extra” fee needs to go to adding bench bars and weights for benches as they’re scarce and often find sections without weights and missing bar. Instead for that annual fee they must reorganized the upper area this year, sad.

This gym is okay; could be better, but overall gets the job done. Nothing really fancy to write about. They do have an indoor pool and basketball court which is good. They also have a daycare for the little ones during hours.

This gym is a great deal for the price of membership. The overall value in the facility is enough to set it apart from most gyms in the area. The locker room attendants are great; hard working and friendly. The vending machines really need to be addressed; without many options in the immediate vicinity, these vending machine are begging to be utilized but too often out of order or working incorrectly. tip to bottom great with kids.

I acomplished what I wanted at the gym; that was to loose some weight and gain whole body syrength. I connected with one of your personal trainers there and he set me on the right path of excersise which shed the lbs. My overall experiance at Sports and Health was great as was my personal trainer, he made it all worthwhile. I hope to be back later this year after surgery. Thanks.

This gym is just like planet fitness, they have a lunk alarm lady that tells you rudely not to drop the weight so hard. This gym is more focused and centered on the senior citizens that go there instead of focusing on everyone. They NEVER ORDER NEW EQUIPMENT! no matter how much you ask the manager or say something they just give you some bull**** response and say they will get new machines and weights soon but never do. When there are group training classes going on they take up so much space and so many machines for their "circuit training". There is no towel service. If a golds gym or retro opened up close by. I would cancel my membership in this place. Everyone in that gym that really lifts just wants more squat racks and heavier Dumbbells not barre bull****.

I like the variety in people, all shapes and sizes so I don't feel out of place. Culturally diverse. Clean and I never have to wait to use equipment as there are enough to share. The staff is friendly and respectful. It's atmosphere is conducive to wanting to get or stay healthy!

As an Instructor I can appreciate a great workout to focus on my fitness health. It's great to know I don't have to go far. Just over to the main studio to enjoy a class with Marsha (TuroKick) or with Raymond or Louis (BodyStep). All are great and I can always count on burning those calories! I've been working out at Onelife for almost 4 years and I loved it so much that I joined the team as a fitness instructor a year ago. My husband also works out at Onelife several times a week. We love it there! What originally drew me to OneLife before I even started teaching were the awesome instructors and the variety of classes. I also love the indoor pool. My 3 year old son and I love being able to take a swim in the middle of winter.

By far the WORST customer service I've ever dealt with. I canceled my membership back in March when I agreed to pay the cancellation fee along with March's payment. They had absolutely no issue with taking my money but I was still charged for April and May. It has been almost 4 weeks now and I still haven't gotten my refund for those two months back yet. I've sent emails back and forth to Dianna Deveney the Membership Director and I'm lucky to get a response a week later and most of the time its because I have to follow up with a second email. I'm tired of getting the run around and I want this taken care of immediately. I just spoke to Katie to pass on a message to the GM Irv Banks who according to Dianna is the one that's supposed to "take care of it". Lets see if I hear back from him and FINALLY get my money back.

While I love this gym (generally), I'm very frustrated with the fact that the TVs aren't working about 20% of the time. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but 60 minutes of hard exercise is that much harder without the distraction of HGTV! Every time the TVs are down (and if one is down, they are all down), they say that they're working on it, but it can take up to a WEEK to resolve the issue. It shouldn't be that hard! The fact that the system is down so often says to me that there's a bigger problem, or that they just don't care that much about making sure members have what they need and want for their workouts. Please resolve the issues underlying issue! I don't want to switch gyms!

Solid place. Don't look at the pissy one star ratings. For the location, the parking, amount of equipment, weight room space, and the price, you'd have a hard time doing much better in this area.

The sauna is a bit grimy and has not been cleaned in some time...but it does work great. Other than that I really enjoy my time here. During peak hours I can find a machine or space to workout, even if my first option is taken. Plenty of muscle toys for big girls n boys

Best gym EVER!!!! My favorite class, Shed and Tread with Marisa Manzi Owens. I've done several Iron Man Triathlons, THOUGHT I was in good shape until I tried this class....it's a Complete Kick in the A--!!!

I have been working out here for 4.5 years and have always been happy. The staff is incredibly supportive, the classes are fun and dynamic, and the kids club is clean and friendly. The instructors always take time to learn your name and make sure your form is good during classes, which is so helpful when your a beginner. The only suggestion I have is I wish they would make their classroom sizes a tad bigger so getting a spot during the "popular " classes wasn't such an issue. Other than that, I love this gym!

It's so sad that I have to sign somewhere else due to membership so high, they were discount for this tech company over half of the membership, and the lady told me that she couldn't do anything for me, and I have a daughter and i signed up for the summer camp also, it just too bad that this lady is hard head, she would gain more business out of me, i would sign with them if she would work with me with the membership fee, and she would more than $600 or more this year alone, got nice gym though, too bad!!!!!!!

I really enjoy working out at Onelife Fitness. I love the classes and the instructors. My favorite classes are Piyo, Zumba, Bodyflow, Toys and Barre to name a few. The instructors, personal trainers and other staff are personable and very knowable about their areas of expertise. I really enjoy this gym especially the classes and personal training! Odd. I don't really understand the bad reviews so I thought I'd post a rebuttal. I've been a member for a few months. All machines are in working order. There's only been one treadmill that's been out of order for an extended period of time -- one of the older ones near the basketball court -- and there's no discernible smell. The pool always seems sparkling clean -- though I've never actually used it. The only reason I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 is because: - I'm not the greatest fan of their weekend hours (7am-8pm on Saturdays and 7am-7pm on Sundays). I wish they'd be open earlier and close later. - Peak volume is always a little hard to predict. I'm always to surprised to find their freeweight section fairly packed at 11am on a weekday. They may be over-volume. Again longer hours would alleviate that.

The gym in general is nice. ive never had to wait for a machine, its always clean and I love the hours. The issues I have is due to billing. Recently, the automated billing system hasnt been taking out the payment on the agreed day of the month... stacking it up 3-4 months without payment then taking it out in bulk on the wrong day of the month. When speaking to a manager about it, all they say is " the system is not working but you still owe the money". No customer satisfaction at all. This is the second time its happen since April. Weve tried to cancel the membership but they want a crazy amount of money to do so when they are the ones that have messed up. Ive contacted my bank and told them that any further transactions attempted are not authorized and that I will retract every payment made from them or cancel the card I have on file and get a new one so they cant take the payment. I work hard for my money and rearrange bills to make the payments but if they can keep up with the agreed amount monthly and on time, then I dont want to give them my business.

I am a member and there personal trainer Nydia Soto is excellent. She has improved my physical shape, resistance, flexibility and is very patient but effective. I enjoy the pool, hot tub, sauna, free weights area. Join and change how you feel and look... well and looked at.

Great management aside form what you may hear in other reviews. Yes, it is expensive but it is better than the cheap gyms. With the higher cost you get people in there who are serious about working out. It flushes out that knuckleheads who want to just mess around and hog the equipment. Their personal trainers are amazing. I work with Derek my personal trainer at Gainesville and he is amazing! Also, one of the managers there is Andrea and she is amazing as well. They are caring and will meet you 100%, more than half way, to get you healthy. They care about getting you over health problems. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE is that they could use longer hours on the weekend. Again, if it were a cheap membership the gym would be full of people who are not serious in most cases on their development. As far as what one person left in another review... you're not there to find a date!!!!! He said don't go there if your not single. These woman and girls are there to improve themselves and don't need or want to be stalked. They want to be left alone to do what they need to do. I've been a member for 2 months and LOVE it! Others are prob upset because they didn't get something for free!

I've worked at, and belonged to, many Gyms in the past 30 years and well... it's a Gym. It's a nice gym but it is still a gym. You will have the squaters who sit on machines and won't let you work in, the employees don't clean the machines as frequently as they should, and they have a limited amount of space for their free weight area (pretty common unless you are at Golds). But, the Cardio equipment is essentially brand new and appears to be well maintained, the bathroom (men's) is always clean and quite modern. I haven''t used the pool or basketball court, but both are essentially brand new. It seems they have a plethora of classes and plenty of certified trainers. The hours of operation could use a little tweaking as many people prefer to work out later in the evening and avoid the after-work crowds (from my experience, not nearly as many like the early morning). I haven't had a reason to leave the gym and cancel my membership, but gyms typically make it difficult to cancel. It is a crappy business practice and does nothing to help their reputation. All in all, it is what I expected - a pretty new gym with typical gym attributes. There is no such thing as a perfect gym that suits everyone's particular desires - this one does a pretty good job of accommodating the needs of most people. Hopefully they keep it up (and be more responsive to the people who are trying to cancel their membership - it will serve your reputation much better in the long run)

i worked out 2 weeks straight with my Nephew who's 13. Out of no where this young lady comes and tells us his not allowed to lift or use the machines unless he goes to a class that cost $125. I understand if the minors are alone and working out by them selves. But if an adult is present teaching them how to properly use the machines and weights where is the issue on that??? But when they make you sign up with fees they tell you it's okay for them to use it but dont say they have to take the class....

I've been a member now for about a year. Customer service was great at first and so was locker room cleanliness. Then individuals/members began washing their clothes in the shower and hanging them up to dry in the sauna. Ive informed the GM and got a "ok" and he instructed one of the employees to go in and take care of it. After seeing this behavior 3 more times, I spoke with the GM's staff. No help at all. I again complained at the desk last night before I left and was told to call the GM (Irv Banks) and leave a message. The GM explained that there wasnt much they could do except visit the sauna more often to try and catch the individuals. So anyone wanting to join this place its not what they make it out to be.

I was a member of this club for over 6 years. However, over the past year, the cleanliness & upkeep (broken equipment) of the club has noticeably deteriorated. Even random people at the gym would make comments to me about how the things had declined, particularly after gym changed from Sport & Health to Onelife. However, it's even worse when you try to leave. You can't cancel your membership in person or over the phone. They direct you to a generic email address (check the website), which takes several business days for a response. Two weeks after receiving a confirmation of my cancellation, I was charged again for another month of dues. They said I had missed the cut-off date (the 25th of the month) by one day and had to pay for another month. In follow up emails, they refused to provide a refund. So in short, expect to get ripped-off by a gym and get used to seeing broken equipment.

Great place to work and workout! We offer something for all our members from fantastic Group X classes to Zone 4 to personal training and so much more. Our kids club is a huge plus and we hear so many of the kids can't wait to come back!

Compared to Lifetime Fitness in Centreville.....much better here! Bathrooms always crowded in Cville and a madhouse in the evenings. Equipment breaking down constantly and alot of the lockers were damaged. So not secure. It's more of a giant public spa and you pay $$$ for it too. Reasonably priced here and much more simplified. Just what we need and that's it. Keeping it simple.

Been a member here since they opened as sport and health. Good gym overall but the one thing I never liked were the hours. Closing at 8pm on Saturdays and 7 PM on Sunday's and open till 11PM on weekdays. Horrible hours, I've heard a lot of members complain about these hours and I've complained to management too but nothing's been done. There will be a lifetime fitness coming to Gainesville soon and I will say just because of the hours I will transfer my membership in a heart beat and I can say that about a lot of other members I've spoken to about this matter. Great gym overall good staff but terrible and inconvenient hours!!

I have been attending One Life Fitness since it was World Gym at its old location. I have remained a member for so many years because I feel it is the best in the area. My fitness journey started with coming in to “survive” 30 minutes on the elipticial. It has worked up to the last 3+ years taking Marisa’s Shed and Tread and Bootcamp classes on a regular basis and pushing myself to make some great physical changes, in addition to meeting ladies whom are now many of my closest friends in the process. These classes are top notch and you won't find a similar workout anywhere. I also really enjoy spin class…. I would love it if “video spin” could come back;-) Spin is a great, motivating work out that allows modifications for members of all fitness levels to make the most out of their ride. The kids club staff has literally watched my children grow up and takes great care of them. My kids take swimming lessons here and the instructors are great for that as well. Overall I have had positive experiences over the last several years! Keep it up

Most of the front desk staff is always very helpful and friendly. My only complaint would be the new manager is always on her cell phone. If you're going to be on your phone at least do it when no one is around. Not when you have a group of members waiting on you. She never says hello when I walk in and she always looks like she doesn't want to be there. Being overly friendly and social is an important skill when working the front of a facility. Besides that the place is great! The longer hours are convenient and the locker rooms are always clean. They have a big variety of equipment and members are usually pretty good with keeping the equipment in its correct place. Glad I signed up!

Gym has the worst hours. They literally start turning the lights off 5 mins before the gym closes. Lifetime in Gainesville is so much more inviting and has hours that make sense. That is the reason why I’m canceling from here and moving over since there is another option finally. You can’t even cancel at the gym, you have to write to member services. When I called, I was told that I’d still have to pay 2 months for the gym even though I was month to month on my contact. How does that make sense? That is literally the most thief like policy. Lisa at member services is a total baboon for hanging up the phone on me. Your policies are wack! Do better so you retain customers.
