Joining Artemis was definitely the game changer of my year. I’ve always been pretty active but had hit a plateau and was looking for a way to step it up. The personal training sessions turned out to be my key to taking fitness to the next level. My yoga practice was deeper, I could push myself harder in spin and running was actually easier. I’ve had two personal wins this year that really drove it home for me.
In mid September I had decided to do a 10k on Thanksgiving with my mom and sister. I had never run a race before but I figured I was a decent enough runner and I had a couple months to train so no big deal. Well, life got in the way and I ended up only squeezing in 3 runs and then getting a terrible chest cold three weeks prior to the race. However, I had been going to Artemis consistently for 9 months at that point and I knew that had to count for something. My initial race goals had been to run the whole time and finish in an under an hour. All things considered, when race day came I just hoped to finish at all. However, not only did I run the entire thing but my official time ended up being 57 minutes and 51 seconds. Two things I know without a doubt that I would not have been able to accomplish without Artemis.
Then a couple weeks later, after fully recovering from a rough November I did my very first (no bands) chin-up! It was on a list of things I wanted to do before turning 30 and it was such an exciting thing to actually accomplish. Working with Kendra and Cate this year has given me a physical strength and athletic confidence I didn’t know I could have. I’m certain that wherever life takes me the foundation and habits I've built by committing to Artemis will remain one of the best decisions I've made.
