A great cheap place to work out or go swimming, pick your poison
This is a very nice little local pool and fitness center! My family Loves the racquet ball rooms and it's so nice to have the two big swimming pools. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because it is very crowded typically and the inside could use a little updating. Great for families <3
Great fitness venter for the whole family! Always clean.
Is a great gym! I've been going for years. I don't care for all the kid restrictions they have put up, but overall a good gym
The staff is very nice, but the facility is run down. I can’t believe how filthy the women’s locker room is. There aren’t any drinking fountains out by the pool either, and when I finally found one in the women’s locker room, it barely worked. Such a bummer. Nice enough pool, but not very comfortable as far as the surrounding space goes.
Good hometown feeling kinda gym AF rec will always have a special place in the hearts of those who visit.
Fun swimming.
Love this place. I like their racquetball courts more than other gyms I've been to.
The rec center is a nice place but we don't have access to everything because clubs are priority. You can't play basket ball or soccer like in Lehi because the gymnasium is only for Gymnastic club. You don't have access to the swimming pool in the morning because it is for swimming lessons and in the afternoon you have access only if the swimming clubs don't have practice. There are 4 racquetball rooms but you can only use two. The two other are for workouts and walleye ball. So if you live next to Lehi or Pleasant Grove, then you should go there!
I always take the scouts here. They are very accommodating to our needs
Karate.
We went to the outdoor pool and waited in a 45 minute line to get food. the lady gave us 2 of the 3 things ordered and paid for then shuts the window in front of everyone's faces without a word. we than waited 10 more minutes to receive our food from a different worker. Nobody apologized for the wait or the flat out rudeness. this was a horrible experience and I will not be returning.
Gym? You mean night club
Best fitness center and best swim team
This is a fantastic recreation center! I would recommend it to anyone that is able to be here. My favorite feature would be the giant bubble they put over the pool to keep it warm and usable all year long. The workout equipment works fantastic and it was awesome to be able to stream music over the free wifi. There is also the best water aerobics instructor ever that teaches here! I would highly recommend her class.
Cycle class is fun.
Great place to get your fitness on. There are a lot of nice familiar faces whenever I work out here. There is a lot of equipment here and it is mostly always kept in good order. The only down sides for me is that the day care is only open until noon Monday through Friday and closed Saturday which is fine for a lot of people, but Saturday morning is a busy time and I feel that a day care service during this time would be a big perk.
Love the pool!
Swim meet time. We come mainly to this recreation center to watch our daughter swim in her swim meets.
Best outdoor pool in Utah county!
Fun pool.
Lots of great classes, been doing water aerobics for 20 years but I've tried lots of other classes I've liked too.
I only used the pools outdoors so I can't comment on the fitness equipment. However, the pools were a lot of fun. My kids loved the waterslide, the lazy river, etc. It was lots of fun. If I lived closer, I'd definitely get a season pass.
Love the 5am swimming and Jen Moore the coach.
Great for working out
Nice little gym. Staff was friendly. Freeweight area was a little cramped, but there weren't many people there.
The locker room floor is often very wet, which is kind of gross. It would be nice if there were dedicated areas for those not using the pool. The track raises up in the corners on the outermost lane, which is sort of odd. They just got a bunch of brand new weight machines, which is great because some of the old ones were broken. Swimming there in the summertime with my kids can be really nice.
We moved to American Fork recently and have really enjoyed having our kids attend classes there. The facility if safe and organized. Our children love going to the classes and feel that the staff are friendly and helpful. We've been really impressed that the classes our children take not only teach them karate, gymnastics, etc but also teach them life skills to help them apply what they are learning in real life and challenge them to be a better person.
I've really only used the pool, but I've been here many times and I've generally had a good experience. The staff is kind and helpful. The pool isn't the cleanest and I don't really like the bubble, but it is cool to have the pool both indoor and outdoor depending on the season
Lot of stuff is outdated
This is one of the best gyms out there, it's clean and very up-to-date.
I like the place but the locker rooms are small and toilets are pretty bad...equipment was recently updated... the staff is really nice.
Great people and fun classes
Great price for swimming and the pools are great.
The kid pool is so fun!! Sometimes it’s too busy but it’s a decent place for a good price.
Great service and activites
a fun place for the hole family at very little cost...
We had great time there and staff there are great at doing there job keeping kids safe.
Love it here. I used to work at PG pool and this pool by far surpasses it. I love it! My manager is awesome and I love the head guards. My guard buds are super chill and always are kind. I recommend coming here for families and teens
Great facility with excellent amenities and staff. I miss this place!
Outstanding facility...very friendly staff!
This place is amazing!
Great prices and great facilities.
Just went for the pool, staff where very nice and helpful. Locker rooms where clean, and the pool was great for all ages
The rec center could use an update, but I love the pool area in the summer.
The master class for swimming is great too build up the swimming muscles and get faster and more efficient at swimming.
What can you really say? It's a city fitness facility it's okay as far as it goes it's just that personally I would rather join a private club like Vasa, Gold's Gym, 24 Hour Fitness, CrossFit... Not dissing on this place just providing my opinion.
Great place to work out. 50 meter pool.
Great pool
Nice facility.
Great community center. Wonderful fitness instructors. Outdoor pool is great in the summer. Track could use some major improvement as could the cardio room.
The lifeguards were very helpful helping me , a disabled person, get inside the pool area. Love the lifeguards !!!
Loved working out here, especially swimming in the winter. Way less pressure than a gym!
On par with your average rec center. Everything is slightly run down, but functional, from years and years of use and abuse. Don't expect anything fancy, but it is good value and the people working here are nice. Getting space on the racquetball courts can be tough.
Great facility and equipment. Lap swimming is too full
Amazing coaches and management!!!
Clean, friendly staff, well priced. No open gym basketball though.
This place is old and decrepit and should be torn down and rebuilt. It only took one visit there to not want to go inside again. Very little natural light. Blind corners around the track. Everything is old. Locker rooms are scary. We go to the Lehi rec center instead - way more room, natural light, clean, nice, and actually inviting and modern.
Swimming with the girls was just tons of fun!
Great value, great classes, daycare and friendly staff and maintained equipment.
Great place to workout. Their annual membership passes go on sale on a certain Saturday each January. That is a great time to purchase a family or individual pass. Cardio room, indoor track, weights room, racketball courts, cross fit room, gymnastics, and smaller rooms for classes like yoga, aerobics, zumba, etc. Great pool for swimmers also.
They have a swimming pool splash pad and a lazy river outside and they have a great workout area inside
Nice little community rec center. Small but adequate facilities lightly attended when I was there in December.
This place is your classic cute old little run down rec center. Love coming here for the cheap rates, racquetball courts, extremely nice elderly people/community, and the friendly service
I swim there every morning, I am on the swim team HAST. The pool could be cleaner along with the locker rooms. But other than that it’s great, the staff is nice and friendly.
American fork fitness center is a fun place to swim and work out.My mom goes to x-train and she loves it. I also love to go swimming with my sister.
I feel some of the facilities could be updated.
I love this rec center because it's a great environment for fitness. Everyone on the staff team is really friendly, and most of the patrons will help you if you need it, just ask! It's a great place for swimming, lifting, or even just cardio. They also offer personal trainers (costs extra) that will help you get fit, fast.
Small track but other wise pretty great facilities.
So many activities and opportunities at the fitness center! We were there this time for the scout merit badges. There were some talented merit badge instructors and the boys had fun while completing their merit badges. Thank you for organizing and offering this opportunity for the scouts on their way to earn their Eagle Scout award.
Zumba, Hot Hula & Line Dancing classes. Super fun!
Beware of the Minotaur in the maze of a basement that is the American Fork Rec Center. The weight room is tiny and not well supplied. The equipment needs to be seriously updated; however, they do have a Cross fit area that's nice.
Decent community recreation center, but badly needs renovation. They have recently redone the bathrooms, but more needs to be done. Great place for family fitness.
Older facility. Good staff. They do have a pool, but unfortunately if you go during swim team time (6-8am) good luck getting in the one lane. Equipment is a bit older, but usable. Chill atmosphere.
To be entirely frank, the pool should have been redone years ago, and is generally quite disgusting. Many of the walls have chipping paint and the gymnasts are often using the track, keeping all other peoples off of it. The locker rooms are molding and have never seen a clean day, and the weight rooms are sub-par at best. But, the coaches and staff are extraordinary, the life guards have a smile and everyone there is always willing to lend a helping hand. So while the actual building is lacking, they make the experience of attending the AF pool a great one.
Not the best place to live around in the summer .very noisy when the pool is open. But what can ya do the people seem to like it
Lots to do. Year round pool, weights, cardio, tons of classes. Some cardio is getting run down. Great exercise and activities for the whole family.
Lots of fun for the kids
It's A GOOD Gym.
I love all the classes they have. Zumba, line dancing and hot hula!
They have a pool, weight room, racket ball, indoor track, and exercise machines. We have some concerns about the quality of their life guards for the pool, but we enjoy the rackeyball
Great fitness center bad prices
I had back surgery and mostly use the pool. I get frustrated with the availability of the pool. The pool is shared with several of the surrounding cities and the pool is often closed for swim meets or other swim team activities, as well as private parties. It would be nice if there were more pools available in the surrounding cities so that the residents of AF could have more access to the pool. The pool is also closed for Bubble week. In the past they have offered us a pass to go to the Lehi pool to work out. This spring the pass was not available.
Charged way too much for facilities given. They don’t have certain machines that are standard at other gyms. Too small of a gym, at anytime of the day gets way too crowded.
Gym is nice and clean. Pool/hot tub are nice.
Fun atmosphere. Clean!
The swimming lessons at AF pool are the best we have found. We pay non-residential prices just so our kids can go there. It is worth it!
Fun for the whole family.
I thought the facility was great. The equipment was a little old, but the bones of the building is great. Not too many gyms offer the extra rooms to do weightlifting separate from the rest of the facility.
We love all the programs they have for kids, my son loves his pre-school, and itty-bitty sports. He has also asked me and his dad about enrolling him in gymnastics as well. I love the track, the free weights and the daycare for my little one, the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is their running class keeps the decibels up so high that it physically hurts my ears, and when I have asked the teacher if she could turn it down just a little she was really rude and told me that they had to have it that loud so that they could hear it. (If they need it that loud to hear than they have permanent hearing loss and probably could have a lawsuit against this teacher).
Gym is getting new equipment, small room adequate size for the equipment though. Great place for a family pass this place can get crowded though
Great place for fun and exercise needs. Not too crowded, at least when I have gone. Pool is good. Excersise rooms are decent. I recommend it.
Pool, gym, sports, tenis courts, af Fitness center has alot the gym has all you'll need but a little smaller only $4.00 for the whole day
This is much more than a gym. They host a high number of community classes as well. There are youth classes for ballet/dance, karate, gymnastics, swimming, scouting merit badges, and many other areas of interest. They have a good number of elliptical machines and treadmills as well as any indoor track (that is pretty small [i.e. not 400 meters]). You can buy a family pass for fairly cheap around Steel Days when they have a big sale.
It is a decent facility. There is no basketball court, but other than that it fit all my needs.
The AF rec center, his isn't one of those club gyms and it doesn't have some of the fancy new equipment that some other city rec centers have. That said the facility is well maintained, the instructors for the classes are excellent, and all the equipment that you need for the basics on hand. Given the price point the AF rec center is an excellent option for getting fit.
One of the better rec centers around. The pool is fun and there is always space in the cardio room or racquetball courts.
Good but sort of lacking I don't know what it is but it just doesn't quite feel fully there you know?
Had some fun. To much chlorine in the pool and my eyes paid the price but I guess that should be expected from a public pool.
There is a little of everything you can expect in a rec center. I didn't like the low ceiling though. Other than that, ideal for any level of workout
As a diabetic the salad sans tortilla is a great option!
Have to work to hard
Cheap entry fee. Great facilities. What more could you want. Pool was busy.
Great location for a local pool, on top of a hill overlooking the valley. Constantly making additions and improvements. Can be crowded in the summer. While it's nice to be able to use it in the winter and the new bubble and lights are a HUGE improvement...occasionally there are problems with noise and ventilation. Older than surrounding Rec Centers like Lehi Legacy Center or Provo Rec...just bear that in mind when coming here--it won't be quite as sparkling clean or new.
I loved that it was so close to my house. I love the tot gymnastics class! As soon as my daughter was old enough for the 3-6 year old class is when it was not my favorite. My daughter was 3 years old put in a class with 20+ other kids. There was no direction, help or critiquing. She has fun cuz she can run around and do what she wants and the coaches don’t notice half the time because they aren’t paying attention. I fear if I weren’t there she would run away and they wouldn’t even notice. My son has taken the ninja warrior class three times hoping it would be better each time. Too many kids in a class with the coach, sometimes a teenage helper who you can tell doesn’t want to be there and it’s total Chaos in my opinion. I’m surprised kids don’t get hurt more often. There is no control or organization in these classes. On the first day of classes you don’t really know where to go or what class because there are so many going on. You have to just ask a bunch of people to figure it out. We also tried swimming class.Teenagers holding kids through the water one at a time until the half hour is up is not teaching them. im Disappointed. Some people love it but I’m not one of them. When I pay for a class for my kids I expect them to learn something and the teachers to teach.
I didn't visit this. I have family near it.
Great pool in summertime.
The annual pass is a good value. Facilities are fair, perhaps a bit dated. Racquetball courts are almost always booked out and don't take reservations more than a couple days out. Employees seem to turnover a lot so they rarely have answers.
Super crowded, but for a public pool, it was very fun.
I like this gym because it is not too crowded and has a bigger pool than other local gyms. Their weight room could be updated. They do not give public enough lanes in the morning or times when swim teams are using the pool. They need at LEAST two lanes (slow lane/fast lane)..Or else you end up circle swimming with sometimes 3 or more people of all different skill levels and paces. It makes it nearly impossible to get a good workout because you are slowed down by waiting to go around or dodging other swimmers. You have to know what times to go, and they are usually in the late morning early afternoon.
This place has everything you could need in a fitness center
Love playing racquetball here
Great variety of exercise equipment and fitness activities.
The facility is a bit disheveled but clean. I'm not particularly fond of the communal showers.
Great place.
Amazing gym.
Great place for swim team for kids and good cardio room. I like running on the indoor track. Front desk ladies are always helpful. I only wish the weight room was a little larger.
