This Gym corresponds to the category of Fitness center.
Good gym... Pretty crowded at 6pm. I enjoy it.
They over charge all of the time! This month they charged my card twice a total of 70 dollars!!! They won’t even answer the phone to try and correct this. Honestly don’t waste your time or money.
Love the atmosphere clean staff was nice
Owners and employees are incredible rude and unprofessional. Cancelled my membership immediately. Undisclosed fees and charges. Planet Fitness is WAY better. Will never return.
I love that they have a daycare
Men’s locker room is small. I do like the gym but over the past few months the 5am staff who is supposed to open the gym has been late several times. One morning they opens a full hour late.
Will never stop billing you even after you cancel your membership that is only month to month. I joined this gym prior to its opening, due to them continually postponing and changing the opening date I cancelled my membership. I went in to their office in person and cancelled. Now I am currently being harassed by their billing department, charging me for every month they have been open, including annual fees that they advertise they don't do, and I've never even seen the inside of the gym. They refuse to correct this. The whole month to month membership, no annual fees is a scam. Be careful unless you plan on paying for this long after you leave them.
Well equipped, even at twice the price. The music is too loud for my taste though, I had to buy noise canceling headphones so I could actually hear my own audio.
Some of the employees are rude and unapproachable. The other day I over heard a Crunch instructor instructing a very small class in front of the gym speaking rudely to a gym member. It was so rude that it prompted me to contact the facility as well as corporate. The morning class going on and the older female gym member was talking to me about the music being too loud. She has trouble with her hearing. I am aware that her hearing condition is of no concern to Crunch. The female instructor yelled at her and said "this is my class time and perhaps you need to come in at a different time"! The gym member then thought that she would receive some understanding from the assistant manager but unfortunately was told "to come at a different time"! Today 11/6/18 when I saw the gym member, she said "I came too early and I've been sitting in my car for an hour waiting on the class and the very loud music to end so that I could come in". I'm so disappointed in Crunch particularly after going on the website today and seeing information about "Crunch caring". Before I joined the gym in June I looked at others and what drew me to Crunch was not the equipment it was the atmosphere. I enjoy working out here and my mom and I go often. As a matter of a fact I brought my mom and husband on board as members. The employees for the most part are friendly. The front desk staff are really nice and have been consistently nice. After seeing and hearing the way that woman was spoken too, I can't endorse Crunch anymore.
♡ this gym. I prefer Crunch over MUV & Planet Fitness.
Love this place! People are nice and it's always clean!
Best gym in South Carolina. I hope they will open a gym up on the downtown side of Columbia soon so I can return and not have to drive 20 minutes to Harbison.
If MUV Fitness (or "Golds Gym") and Planet Fitness had a baby, it would be Crunch Fitness...kind of the best of both worlds minus a pool in my location. Facility is always clean, equipment always works and staff is friendly. I wish it was 24hrs but i do like that you have access to the full gym. The MUV that I was a member at had a section just for trainers that had sleds and other "go hard" equipment that you could not use if you weren't paying for a personal trainer. Not sure how their memberships work. I know they have changed twice i signed up so...i recommend them all the way. 24hrs will get them all stars.
Crossfit apparatuses raise the bar in this exciting new gym.
Way too loud. Trainers blast music during their small classes to the annoyance of all other members. The music is so loud that you can hear it even while wearing noise canceling headphones. The gym should conduct these classes in private rooms separate from the main gym. Otherwise, the noise from the classes ruins everyone else’s enjoyment.
The client care isn’t there. The turn overrate for the gym is surprisingly high. I was told it’s not about the relationship you build with your trainer but the results. I guess that would explain the result of 4 trainers in the last 4 months. Just simply disappointed. Can I get a refund? Oh yeah the answer is no unless you buy out the contract..
Best gym ever and staff
They will not let me cancel my contract I'm moving to Kansas due to my sick grandmother. I was told when I signed up I could cancel if I moved States and now I can't.
Nice people, clean facility, cheap membership for entry level. I'd be willing to pay a touch more if they had a pool.
My rating for this is average bc though the employees are very friendly it's hard getting on the weights in the afternoons bc alot of men come in & their on them & you have to set around & wait or just skip it & it's really frustrating bc I want to do them bt just can't bc of the crowdedness
Good atmosphere. Relatively new machines with a good variety of them.
Very nice gym for $10/month. Everyone is nice, from the people that work there to the guests. They have classes, tanning, and clean equipment. The only thing I would say negative is that they could do with more bench and incline press stations.
Crunch is the best. I enjoy working out at Crunch!
The gym is decent but it’s all for money. When you first go they do this thing where a staff member will “evaluate” you and ask you where you want to be and your goals and such. But the whole point is the end. When you’re done, they try to talk you into personal training which is not cheap and is pretty much just a series of stretches for the most part. I will say that the trainers are very nice. But the whole point is that this “evaluation” is just standard procedure and it’s all just for you to invest more money. Also they have a $40 “annual fee”. Fee for what? And once they charge you there’s no way to refund it so sorry. Overall the gym itself is good and has a lot of different equipment to use, but it really should re-evaluate how it operates as a business.
Clean & friendly environment with a very helpful staff. There's plenty equipment & they're quick to resolve any hiccups that may occur with billing. Enjoying my crunch membership!
I used to work here very nice staff and will make you feel welcome. if it's your first time going to a gym this a great place to start.
Nice place to workout at
Crunch Fitness is a very clean, friendly gym. The staff is great - friendly, helpful, and encouraging. Make sure to meet with Shiloh (fitness manager) to talk about your goals and get started on a plan to achieve them - she is fantastic! The gym has nice, clean, working equipment, and there's great variety. I love that there are no contracts to get locked into, and you can select the level of membership to meet your fitness needs and budget.
Clean. Lots of different equipment.
Was waiting to cancel my membership until the year was up even though I haven't used it in over 6 months because I have moved 30 minutes away now, and called the day of the one year mark and they stilled charged me $84 for the yearly membership fee even though I went be using the facility for the year and the $49 monthly fee. Bad business to charge a customer for something their not going to use.
Crunch Fitness gym is a very nice and clean gym. I like the gym but it's a little too clean for me. I like a little less commercialization when it comes to gym I like to use chalk on my hands sometimes I like to make noise. But for a commercial gym it's a very nice gym, the equipment is always in good shape from my experience I've never had a problem with any of the equipment or any of their customer service there.
Awesome staff and value. Classes, Child watch, state of the art facilities. I couldn't ask for a better gym.
Very impressed with the facilities! Really enjoy working out here!!
The staff is friendly, classes are awesome, it's clean and overall the nicest fitness center I have been in!
Clean, fun and most of all friendly. Never been at a gym with so many friendly and supportive people.
Friendly staff supper clean gym. I also love the music they play here
This gym has everything that I need to have an awesome workout.
I'm newish to the gym scene. I had a membership elsewhere that I never used. At Crunch, I feel comfortable enough to go regularly. The staff are extremely friendly. I never have issues getting on whatever machine I want, even on a crowded day. Thats probably because I don't yet use the more popular machines. I like that I don't feel judged because I'm new and not the most fit person in the world.
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A TRAINER HERE!! Honestly the gym itself is nice and the $10 month is nice as well. However do not sign up for any training programs here. The session are way to short, the make promises that they cant keep and you are better off just coming with your own routine. For the short time i was there, they must have switched my trainer 3 times in 2 months. They say you will be provided with folders so that you can simply just come in and do your workout!! LIES. Each workout is 30 minutes and sometimes the trainer would have so many clients scheduled that day that they couldn't even stay the entire workout and would walk off while you are doing your last set. I gave them 3 chances to get my trainer right and they failed every time. When i decided that i was no longer going to deal with them and tried to cancel the training workout they told me there was no way to do it, even though i had already paid for full membership. So of course this story ends with me still getting charged every month even though i haven't been back in months and will eventually hit my credit report! I can understand if i didn't full fill my part and had stop paying for no reason but the fact that they cant even own up to their own mistake and obviously care more about the money then the customer service is why i will never do business with them again.
Crunch has made good on there cancellation and refunded the "accidental charge" thanks to the great Lady that answered the Phone shes the best!!
Love it
A very good gym with new equipment and a large area to work out in. They have plenty of free weights and machines. It is easy to find a time of day when it isn't crowded and have the whole gym largely to yourself. All of the machines work as they are supposed to and are highly ergonomic. They also offer a rubber floor by the squat rack to do heavy deadlifts at.
Gym usage was great. However, I stopped going and still paid my membership fee for months without an issue but when I realized I wouldn’t be able to find time to go anymore they didn’t let me cancel my membership first they put it on hold and then I got charged again and I went to tell them I had said I wanted to cancel they filled out a form and I’m still getting charged. Every time I call to speak to a manager they tell me that either the manager is gone or that they are busy and will return my call as soon as possible but I never get a call back. I am very upset because I didn’t use the services and paid without a problem but as soon as I say I just want to cancel they go MIA and won’t answer my calls or my continuos requests to cancel the membership.
Good work out choices for an. affordable rate.
New weights, greats staff.
Clean facilities and plenty equipment.
I signed up for this gym before they opened and it was a struggle from the beginning. I decided to give them a chance still after they opened and my experience just hasn't been great. I met with a personal trainer who wanted to basically take all of my money for a 30 min session....the amount weekly was more than my car payment....rediculous....when I called to cancel my membership because I moved to a city where there is no Crunch gym, they said I had to come in Monday thru Thursday between 9am to 5pm.....so if u have a normal full time job....it's impossible...convenient right?!.......OR I could write a letter stating I wanted to cancel and why....I've written 2 letters already and they are still taking my money and claim that they haven't received my letters. It's just poor customer service and they are stealing from me at this point.
Pretty good
Surprised by how much they have! Very nice facility
Really enjoy this place and the energy! Always a positive vibe from everyone!
Absolutely love this gym! But 3 stars because of the time it closes. I get off of work at 7pm Saturday...
Clean facility, friendly workers, family-like atmosphere. 3 Oly training platforms, and upbeat classes. Love it.
Quality equipment. Great atmosphere. Nice location. Can't think of anything negative so easy 5 stars.
Don't enroll in this place. They have a lot of hidden expenses they don't tell you when you enroll. Be careful when signing a contract with this place!!! Read everything... including the very small writing. They are very tricky
The gym is honestly a good gym it has a good atmosphere and some of the workers want to help but when its a simple problem that could be fixed the owner gets frustrated and disrespectful almost like your a friend and not a paying customer no matter the cost.
Nice
I'm a member of this gym. Very clean. Nice environment. Excellent customer service!!
Such a scam with the membership. I signed up over a year ago just to continue to be charged. I've been in the hospital off and on for the last two months for open heart surgery, then surgery to remove a clot in my leg, I've been out of work for two months. I've asked them to stop charging me because I can't afford my prescriptions or monthly bills as is and they refuse to stop. They said I have to come in or send a letter, I asked the manager how I was supposed to do this from a hospital room and she gave not a care in the world. I've been living off of a gofundme that hasn't done so well. I asked for a refund to which she would not give me. I'm so upset and will hopefully be able to dispute the charge with my bank and get my money back. Frankly prescriptions and car payment, car insurance are definitely more important than a gym membership I haven't used in at least 5 months.
Great fitness center.
Great equipment availability, reasonably priced.
Lots of equipment well laid out and very nice people. I like this place better than MUV. Silver sneakers
This gym it's got great new equipment, the staff that takes care of my kids is very attentive and very polite. I've been working out here for the past two months and so far it's been great. The gym is always clean. They also are not too expensive like other gyms.
Gym is clean and new. plenty of cardio equipment and free weights. Staff is helpful and friendly. Crunch also has several types of alternate work out equipment. Push sleds, resistance equipment and a Combative Training Center, and HOIST machines make it an all around gym that is very affordable! In addition they have a hydo-massage table and a tanning bed to complete your new body look. We are members!
Nice workout center.
Just no one recently so far so good employees really nice.
Great gym at a fair price.
Love this place and affordable. Friendly staff.
Great atmosphere clean environment friendly employees
Love this place friendly staff, clean locker rooms, great equipment, many classes, fun and encouraging environment to come to.
Great gym! Left planet fitness to join. Brighter lighting, better equipment and room for more advanced moves. The pricing is about the same too .. I wish they would change to 24 hours , though. That way I would be able to go more with my work schedule.. other than that, crunch fitness gets my recommendation any day..
I love this gym, nice and clean
It's a nice place to workout but the gym isn't big enough.
CAREFUL, WHEN CANCELLATION COMES THEY WILL CHARGE MORE. Though it is a decent place to work out, there are hidden fees every user should know. At the end, they will end up charging more than they are supposed to. They would use lame excuses to justify it. A rip-off.
Could have had a better experience. As an employee there was limited organization, no break room, and the "budget" was always an excuse for things. Never received my check on time and was asked to delete my social media accounts and fitness blog due after complying not to freelance my own services- which I did not. Clients were very upset after being switched to a 3rd trainer in the course of 5 weeks , demonstrates a lot about the owner and the way he runs Crunch. While I enjoyed changing lives- I will investigate further in regards to business practices. Definitely did not feel like family. The gym is clean and full of color but does lack equipment choices especially for beginners. Also I am being billed for a membership I didn't sign up for. As an employee membership was feee (only job benefit) & im continued to be harassed by their billing dept and I don't EVEN HAVE A CARD ON FILE! I requested this to be fixed several times and NOTHING HAS BEEN RESOLVED!
Great place to workout. Cool staff.
I typically don’t bash people especially previous employers, but I have never been treated so unfairly. I worked at this facility for close to two years. Staff is amazing. The ownership/management not so much. They scam people and change policies so frequently and don’t treat their employees well at all. I tried to still remain a member after 8 months of no longer being an employee and they wouldn’t allow me too even though they have other previous employees still working out there. They claimed it’s cause I work for another fitness place... meanwhile SEVERAL of their members work at other gyms and they don’t seem to have an issue with that. The gym has great potential to be the best in Columbia.... unfortunately lying and greed isn’t going to get them there. No integrity, no ethics, no morality.
Small gym. can be difficult to work In on equipment especially Monday to Wednesday. Great staff though and lots of amenities.
Great gym, awesome place to work out alone or with friends.
Friendly staff, fun classes!
It's a fitness club. We exercised. Hydromassage and sauna available.
There iis plenty of machinesto workon various muscle groups. The environment is excellent!!!
Good basic + gym
Been at this gym for 3 months now and so far so good. Love that it has childcare so my kids are watched and taken care of but stupid rule that you can only have them here 2hrs a day. They should be able to watch them for the whole day i mean im paying extra for this ..plus my work schedule is days and nights and would be nice if i could come in more than once a day for more than a hour... They fail to mention this so beware. The machines are nice and alot of variety so that's a plus. Gets really crowded at night and hard to find machines and weights to use. Mornings and afternoons are never crowded. Group fitness classes are awesome and never to crowded.. Love it and the instructors are always nice. Desk employees are nice also and always greet you when you enter so good job hiring people that actually seem to like their job. Very clean gym and well taken care of so 4 stars.
Called their facility idk if that girl Ashley was high or something but she couldn’t hear anything I said and kept cutting me off. Then when I asked to speak to a manager she said one is on break and the other is busy. I told her I’ll wait and she huffed. Then a manger for on the phone and talked over me the whole time.
O hope work stuff works out so I can join
I've been going to gyms for 20 years and this is my all time favorite. Crunch has something for everyone and has no judgemental policies against certain type of fitness individual (like the "purple" gym does). They even have slogans for "no judgements" on the walls. I think this is important for a gym as it promotes unity among different fitness types. Some gyms descriminate against certain types and it's wonderful to see a gym embrace all aspects of fitness. Crunch offers enough free weights equipment that even I as an avid bodybuilder think is adequate (3 squat / deadlift platforms, a Smith, a dedicated squat rack to the far side, and 2 flat benches). Their cardio section is absolutely massive. They have two studios in the back where they offer a myriad of classes (one studio is equipped for spin classes). They also have a turf section which is great for running sleds and punching bags for working out the agression from the work day's stress. They offer "group" workout classes where if you're new to fitness you can come in to workout and an instructor will have a workout ready for you and tell the entire group what's next (I will say it can be quite loud during this time since the instructions have to be loud enough to be heard over the music, but it supports people who are new to the gym and I'm passionate about new folks having a welcoming environment). They also have tanning, hydro massage, and a "watch your kids" area. Of special note, Bill, the owner of the Columbia location on harbison is especially caring of the needs of his gym members. I have had prior back injuries deadlifting and require a trap bar (aka diamond bar) to be able to deadlift without reinjuring myself. Bill not only heard my concerns but also got a bar to the specifications I was asking for (and I was picky about certain things). He also got it quickly. It's great to be at a gym where you know the owner cares about the place and the members. Another note on that topic is the place is very clean and stays clean. Lastly crunch is affordable. If you haven't checked this place out - you simply must. I've never been so happy with a gym in my past 20 years of fitness. The only thing I could even think of improving is having one more flat bench to ease wait time on chest day. I love crunch and I bet you will too! I hope crunch creates more locations in the surrounding areas in the years to come.
Great gym
Really nice gym at a reasonable price. Employees are trained well and nice.
Great place to workout! They have tanning beds and massage beds which are included in memberships. They also have daycare included.
Good place great atmosphere they all the tools you need to succeed
Cancellation process hmmm and you have to pay another month
Very friendly experience. Stanley has the absolute BEST Zumba classes on Wednesday evenings.
I love the fact that the facility is always clean! There are plenty of machines so that your not having to wait for one to open up, but my favorite part is the sauna. The price for membership is something that makes it affordable for anyone!
