I have gotten in the best all around shape - strength, conditioning and mobility - of my entire life working out with the BHKC crew. The WORKOUTS ARE HARD, but the trainers and other members are supportive and encouraging. Great people!

Instructor made me take on too much weight during intro class resulting in back injury.

I rarely write reviews but wanted to share my positive experience with BHKC. The gym is walking distance from my house and I *love* the early am class options (though I can only go to these certain weeks); I looooove walking down my quiet street getting a little blood flowing and mentally ready to work out. I was already pretty fit when I started here a couple weeks ago, but kettlebell workouts were brand new to me so I appreciate how willing the instructors are to give new folks extra assistance/guidance during the class. I've found the community, instructors and other attendees, to be super welcoming. I've been to 5 classes so far, including the intro, and have chatted with at least one person each time. I have an independent streak so I gravitate toward exercising solo; I enjoy the classes that have a group structure but also the freedom to work at your own pace (esp the strength classes). I think this takes a little pressure off the newbies and allows you to focus on technique and proper form. Really glad I finally decided to give BHKC a try. Oh one last thing - I am 48 yo and $&@% menopausal already, haha, so if you're in the same boat and reading this wondering if there is a place for you at BHKC -- there is, come try it!

Great place for a workout. I definitely recommend.

I started going to BHKC recently and though the workouts push me to my limits and beyond I feel great afterwards, as opposed to certain other regimens. Every teacher there is excellent! They are very welcoming of everyone. But I don’t—as a white cis man—expect to be centered in that space, and I think that’s a part of what makes it great. If that makes you uncomfortable I’d suggest doing some work on yourself somewhere else.

Great local gym and just walking distance from my house. I have only been once for the introduction class. I was not ready at the time to commit and let my groupon expire. I would definitely like to go back and actually put in the work to see results.

This gym offers more than just affordable and knowledgeable training; it offers a community that will push you to work toward your goals. The trainer's are all Strong First certified and are great with people of all levels. When I started a year ago, I hadn't exercised in several years. The community I found here has helped me reach goals, set my sights on new ones and helped me become a stronger, healthier version of myself.

I wanted to use kettle bells at my gym but wanted to learn how to use them correctly. I purchased a Groupon for BHKC and it is one of the best decisions I've made. I've learned a lot from the certified instructors and enjoy the gym and community so much that I'm in it for the long haul. At 56, I've lost weight, two clothing sizes, and feel better than I have in twenty years when I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Try it!

I've been working out at BHKC in my off-season traning and absolutely love this gym. I was a bit shy at first, but everyone (students and instructors) are super welcoming and never pass judgement in this super supportive atmosphere. The instructors are great at finding modification that work for an old injury and happy to do so. I never get bored because the classes are always different, but the intensity is always there. Try it!

I purchased an 8 class Groupon not ever having picked up a kettlebell before because I wanted to try something new and BHKC is an easy walk from my house. I made a point to try all of the class formats and all but one of the teachers during my Groupon duration. I did Strength, Simple & Sinister, Speed, a Squat & Press clinic, and an Intro to the Turkish Get-Up clinic in addition to the free mandatory Intro to the Kettlebell Swing first class. I also tried one Body Conditioning class which was a great boot camp style workout and the Kickboxing class which was super fun. I think that the studio could improve upon orienting newcomers and making them feel welcome. I feel pretty comfortable and confident in a gym and feel like a lost little lamb here. Somebody new to fitness who is more timid might not stick around. I would not have a few years ago. As a major positive, there is zero effort or sales pressure to bring you on as a member... but it literally feels like they don’t care if you stay or go. There does seem to be a strong core community here though and I’ve met a few nice members. The teachers show you the warm up individually the first time you come to class but after that it feels like you’re on your own to remember it. Members just come in and start doing the warm up at their own pace. As somebody who needs a lot of repetition and visual cues to learn something physical, it would be helpful to have the complicated warm up sequence written down permanently somewhere for reference. The teachers do keep a close eye on the members and come around to correct your form so you don’t hurt yourself. Even though I really like BHKC, I wasn’t sure that I liked kettlebell as an activity at first because it’s harder than it looks and there are a lot of things to remember with respect to form and sequence. But it’s growing on me and I think I’ll be back as a regular attendee. I can see myself getting a lot stronger here. Overall, I think this is a pretty badass neighborhood gym. It’s very affordable and it’s a great workout once you kind of figure out what you are doing and what's going on. I also love the independent vibe and great music!

I have found this to be a really great environment. The instructors are so helpful; especially to us newbies. As well, other people have been really kind and helpful. It’s a nice community of people who inspire me to work hard and try new things. I appreciate that you have to take the intro class first; I was surprised at what I didn’t know and felt a lot safer going into the classes.

Not friendly towards men. Otherwise, it's a nice space, great schedule, hard working teachers, I really wish I could give them money to workout there, but I just felt totally unwelcome.

Want to join a community, not just a gym? Bleeding hearts is the strongest, purest, toughest bunch of bad ass people I know. The instructors know their kettlebells and are StrongFirst certified (look it up). I have known Tana for a few years and actually like to work out now. If you want to get strong, have fun, and work hard this is the place for you.

Simply the best trainers and group of clients you could ask for

Verena Sutherland

My favorite gym ever. I'm strong, fit and lean and having the best time.

Jenelle Olson

This has been by far the best "gym" I've experienced. When you can walk into a place and feel comfortable to just be yourself means everything. They do a really great job of making everyone feel included. I feel like they give enough pointers and corrections so that you don’t hurt yourself and are consistently improving but they don’t point out so many mistakes that you feel frustrated with yourself. This place is just a delightful experience all around. It’s the 1st place I’ve felt myself craving to go back to time and again. Thank you BHKC team <3

Tana and the Bleeding Heart Crew is the perfect blend between kindness and firmness. With monthly charitable events, clinics, and a daily workout matrix, this place is perfect for those looking for a supportive community. Not only will you get into shape, you'll make some lifelong friendships.

I heart this gym so much. Besides being an amazing workout with awesome music. The trainers create workouts that are always different and challenging. I don’t get bored with repetition. It has changed my body, made me strong and fixed chronic pain in my back and hips. The community of the gym is what keeps me coming back. It has changed me from an overweight scaredy-cat to a strong badass that now likes to challenge herself. Thankyou BHKC

This gym packs as awesome group comradarie atmosphere with a great workout! I really appreciate how much the trainers keep an eye on your form to ensure your doing the workout in a way that prevents injuries.

Pretty much the best gym ever. I’m first and foremost a runner but for years have been looking for the right strength cross training. Nothing clicked until I found Bleeding Hearts Kettlebell Club. Now I like strength training just about as much as running. And my running has improved with less injuries. I’ve been with BHKC since the beginning and it’s never boring. The trainers are awesome and StrongFirst certified. I learn something new every week and am stronger than I ever thought possible. Finally the community is the best and super supportive. Intro classes are free...give it a try you won’t regret it!

If you're not working out here, you're losing out. Dynamic, thoughtful movement and workouts lead by incredible StrongFirst trainers (coaches?, I don't know what we call them other than by name). The community is diverse, caring. Tana the owner is an inspiring human. Yoga & self defense classes too. Come for this. It's well priced (financial aid is ENCOURAGED, sliding scale rates) the facility is not posh, yet everything you could need is there. BYO towel and water vessel. You must take the intro class first (it's free and really, shouldn't be, it's a useful 30 minutes of body mechanics and safety to get you started).

Lisa Tamura

Great community, great workout, and great trainers.

If you're seeking long lasting results from a fitness routine, Bleeding Hearts Kettlebell Club won't let you down. The rotating class schedule (Strength, Speed, Bodyweight and Mobility, and Simple and Sinister) keeps the classes from feeling repetitive. Though each class is clearly focused on a theme, they all still incorporate strength, mobility, and cardio elements. The instructors are compassionate and exacting in equal measure, and are often your classmates, so you know they stand behind their methodology. I've not tried their Yoga and Kickboxing classes, but I've heard nothing but positive things about them. The classes are attended by a diverse crowd, and there is a strong culture of inclusion. I'm constantly challenged by their workouts, and have been thrilled with how I feel about my body. Come and sweat, cry, and laugh with us!

charmaine taylor

Supportive trainers that help guide your form to reduce injury & wonderful community at a great price! I’m hooked!

Tori Nickerson

BHKC has an amazing community built by knowledgeable and caring trainers. The classes are always varied so it never feels repetitive, yet they are focused on developing realistic strength and skills in a well planned fashion. After 7 months of working out here I am stronger and more consistent than I have ever been, even as a college athlete. The trainers offer individual attention when needed during the group classes to help people of all fitness levels. Their dedication to accessibility and the community makes it much more than just a gym. They are dedicated to not just welcoming, but defending marginalized people. This place is not like other gyms, if you have felt uncomfortable or out of place somewhere else, give BHKC a try.

Michelle Austin

Attentive, intelligent trainers and engaging workouts that change everyday. Add in a great group of awesome members who work hard and care about building a strong community and you have a winner. I love Bleeding Hearts Kettlebell Club!

Ryan Howey

Good Vibes, good workouts. The owners frequently teaches the classes herself, she checks everyone's form and makes sure they are always challenging.

When I started going there I had never worked out in a gym before and was a little intimidated, mostly just not knowing what to expect. I was definitely not an athlete in school. Now it's been a year and going to this gym is one of my favorite things in life. I'm amazed at how good I feel and how much I've changed. The trainers and the community are just the most amazing, coolest people in the world. I'm thrilled about how much more physically capable I am now, and I've felt supported the whole time. I just love this place so much!

elliot ross

I've been training at the Warrior Room for about 8 months now and I'm hooked! The trainers and clientele all motivate me to push myself while somehow enjoying the intense difficult workouts. I have lost over 30 pounds since joining the gym and am in the best physical shape I have ever been in. I recommend it to anyone who wants to live a healthy and strong life.

Anthony Eddings

You can find mostly anything you want there. From name brand , clothing (Versace) (Gucci) cheap to appliances. You can find kids clothing all the way up to, oversize garments.

Katharine Reiner van der Hoorn

Amazingly supportive coaches, hard but intelligent workouts, great community, $3 per hour childcare. Can't imagine training anywhere else!

It must take a certain kind of person for this to work. I certainly would not recommend it for older ladies (50 & up). The insane movements had no relationship to anything functional! -- The instructors tried to be helpful, but there were too many people crammed into a small space. I signed up for a month of classes, but only went 3x's. I was honestly afraid of getting injured.
