Before I signed up I read reviews and there were multiple complains about billing issues. I signed up January 2016 for a year and of course still got billed for February and March automatically. I even got a confirmation that my contract had expired yet they are still able to bill me months after the contract expired? Not the best gym. The women's room was ALWAYS dirty and weights would never be put away. I'd go there 3-4 days in a row and everything would still be disorganized on the floor in the exact same spot from the previous night. I stopped going maybe 8 months into my membership to start working out somehwere else.

I put in a request for them to have a different credit card of mine to use for recurring payments; they wrote down the information and said there will be no problem with doing the change. A month later I get a call from World Gym while stating I’m past due. The next day, I went to World Gym to see what the problem was and their account department put in the wrong expiration date. The lady, said that she waived the late fee (as you should, but the $20 charge is still there as of 09/18/19) and I asked how about a FREE protein shake for my inconvenience ( I only go to World Gym on Sunday and Saturday) she said I waived the late fee (as you should) that’s good enough. Why should I pay a late fee because someone working in accounts may have Dyslexia and put in the wrong info.

My experience with this gym has been awful. I have been trying to cancel my membership with them for over 4 months now. They continued to bill my credit card, so I cancelled the card and had my bank send me a new one. Now they are calling me telling me that I owe them a past due balance and that they are going to report the balance to the credit agencies. STAY AWAY....!!!

Nobody here is competent enough to handle billing issues and when I finally got mine resolved I ended up paying over two times what I should have paid, AFTER being sent to collections (having had no contact initiated from anyone at the gym regarding the issue.) Cheers to World for making a busy, broke girl pissed off and even more broke.

This place is awesome. My wife and I started coming here because it was the most affordable gym in the area that had a kids club. We didn't know much about it at all, but thought we would give it a try anyway. Here we are about 3 years later and it turned out to be the best gym I have ever been to. The staff and members are friendly and inviting. The most important part is that there aren't any " salesmen " here! You know that personal trainer that that's always trying to sell you something that you don't need (Lifetime Fitness), and nobody trying to tell you that you can't wear this or that, make any noises, or drop the weights (planet fitness). So if your thinking about it give it a try, you might find that missing motivation in your routine. I know we did!

This Gym is a great place to go if your goal is overall health. They have a huge weight room for those people who want to tone up as well as some excellent classes with some amazing instructors. What first impressed me was their mission statement. The also have personal trainers who are going to make sure they create a personalized training regimen that fits your lifestyle and goals.

If you too uncomfortable to be around goal oriented people, this probably isn't the place for you. However if you're at the gym and your not goal oriented, no real gym will be for you. They have cleaning staff working constantly every time I'm there so these claims of being sick and all that after visiting are unlikely. Go, work towards your goals, and go home.

Where's to start is the biggest question. Everyone there is so damn nice and they talk to as a friend which I really do appreciate. Also the equipment there is nice and they have a lot of machines every kind you could think of. Tanning beds are nice and very comfy. Outta 10 I would rate it a 11

worst gym i even been in i would suggest never to join they fee for everything super horrible prices the equipment is old and nasty super dirty place nasty i would say not to join if u don't wanna get a disease and they are horrible customer service they make u have a contract with hundreds of dollars you have to pay a year for no reason super expensive horrible trainers and everything is bad there the worst place to be in honest ppl and horrible at what they do they equipment is horrible u can get hurt they never forgive u if u forget to pay or change your card so they will fee you like 30 dollars no forgives policy they have they never call you to help you out they want you to fail and waste your money i suggest never to go there join planet fitness or no gym but world is the worst gym ever

*RESPONSE: I did have a face to face interaction and then apparently my banking information was LOST! Rachel from billing isn’t incompetent, Mariah your “manager” is. Dave and Rachel have been helpful. By reading the many comments regarding billing, there is an apparent issue. **UPDATE: Just found out their “billing” is one person who does it from home. YIKES! Explains the errors.** My experience with the gym itself has been great. No complaints there. However, it appears one person can completely ruin your experience. I changed my banking information on March 1st. I walked into world gym and face to face changed my information. I also asked for Mariah to call me since Facebook messenger let me know to ask for Mariah. They took down my information and told me they would give it to her. By reading the reviews regarding banking, I had a feeling there was going to be an issue. I asked if I should get a copy of it and expressed my hesitation. I was reassured that Mariah would be in the next day and handle it. Unsure where communication failed. I never received a call from Mariah. So either the employee didn’t give her my information or Mariah chose not to call me. I’m leaning towards the latter. Well, April 8th, I received a call that I owed a balance. I called back, Mariah once again was not there. I was once again told, she would call me the next morning. Still did not receive a call, so I once again called that evening. She had no record of my information, however told me that she “must” have scanned it over to billing. Well if she did, there would be record on both the printer and billing. Very concerning that apparently the form I filled out, grew legs and ran away. Hopefully not into the wrong hands. No explanation as to what happened with my sheet that I filled out. Honestly very concerning that she is a supervisor. She seemed very incompetent on the phone as she had no answers for me and it seemed as if she was lying. I know for a fact my sheet did not make it to billing or someone would be able to provide me with proof and an explanation. Additionally I changed my information once again, verbally over the phone and asked for email confirmation. She confirmed my email address and said she would email me tonight or the next morning. I bet you can guess, she didn’t email me. Then blamed it on billing when I wanted an email from HER stating I verbally changed it with the date. If I have to change my banking again, I will be canceling instead since apparently no one there is compentent to send the form to billing. Thoroughly disappointed.

***FIND A DIFFERENT PLACE TO WORKOUT***!!! I joined this gym last February while I was temporarily working in the Lorain, OH. My experience was fine until a few months after I froze my account WORLD GYM began charging me for "cleaning"--"membership"--"misc. fees"....what a scam. I was told when I froze my account that I would have 6 months to rejoin the gym, at that point if I did not rejoin my membership would be terminated. Instead after the 6 months they just started charging me for all of the things I mentioned above. I would call each month when my statement came with charges for a gym I had not been affiliated with for months. Each time I'd call and try to speak to a manager-- they were conveniently never available. Got the run around time and time again, now my monthly statement arrived and guess what...MORE CHARGES. This place is awful. I suggest buying a weight set and lifting at your home.

When I was in Ohio for a couple months, I joined this gym and first off, their customer service is the worst I've ever seen. You can sit at the front desk for an hour and watch several employees look at you, talk amongst themselves in the back and never come help you because they're obviously lazy. The classes are great but that's about it. They're very limited and charge extra for anything they can. I cancelled my membership on May 28th when I left for Missouri and they keep charging you for 60 days after cancellation. So even while I'm not using the gym, I got charged well into July. The personal trainers, before they even know your body or anything about you, assume they know exactly how your body works-- and try to make you feel stupid and try to push themselves on you without even the slightest empathy or consideration of what you tell them (i.e. I don't have enough money right now). I know how to eat and I've been to classes that teach me about fitness and how to workout. So when you tell me that I have no idea what I'm doing because I like to warm up a certain way that works well with my body, you lose me. When I was there, I could only workout once a week, and the trainer told me that I needed to push hard and not warm up like I did. But what he didn't mention is if you can't workout more than once a week then go into the gym and go full throttle right away, you can give yourself a stroke or heart attack because your heart isn't used to the pressure and you'll hurt yourself. I told him that I wanted to thin out my legs, so he told me to do more weight for the tops of my legs and what you really want to do is more running, less weight and more reps and change up. Severely lacking in just about everything at this gym. HR needs to put a little more work into hiring a more caring staff and trainers who are looking out for your best interest, not just trying to make money. 24-Hour Fitness is FAR BETTER, has a HUGE selection of things to do (and has a pool, hot-tub, weight area, basketball court and 5 times the equipment) without charging extra for them... sure it's a little more monthly but it's well worth it. Their customer service far surpasses World Gym. They always have someone at the desk who is considerate, sympathetic and OVERLY helpful. They go above and beyond. Their trainers work hard on letting you know what's right for YOU, not what they think you should do, working with you and finding YOUR comfort zone and your goals, payment plans and overall helping you get to where you want to be. Don't join this gym-- waste of time, money and the atmosphere sucks. Try to get into 24-hour fitness and find a payment plan that works for you. They have deals and sales all the time that will save you tons if you're on a budget.

I joined 3 yrs ago and stopped due to illness and than a month later i got charged $450. Now they are calling me wanting more money. This place is a joke don't join if you want to be charged after you stoppdd going. I called the front desk and informed them i wasnt coming anymore due to my illness and the lady at the desk didnt update me files. Not my fault you had people working that sucked at their job. You got 450 off me and now want more. Don't go if you want them to rake you with fees and more fees.

Haven't been there in years but I liked the hardcore atmosphere. At the time I was there bathroom/locker rooms needed heavy attention and were pretty dirty. Equipment was broke down and didn't seem like much effort was placed into getting it fixed. However, dumbbells were awesome and I believe the heaviest was 150's! Like any gym, crowded after work. Usually between 4 and 9. I wish they offered 24 hours 7 days a week. But, if you're looking for a REAL place to train and not just workout, then this is the place in Lorain County.

In my experience I noticed that the machines are dirty I watched other people work out and not spray the machines down after they use them and none of the workers said anything about this to the people so they know and to make them aware to do so. I did see cleaning sprays on a table in the corner but they should really have a spray bottles on every machine and the workers should encourage this. The people who work at the counter were very nice and the bathrooms are clean. I did some of the classes like the zumba wasn't that much fun to me they made the zumba more of work out then a dance if you know what I mean. example doing squats over and over again isn't dancing. I will still use the gym but make sure you clean the machines down before you use some of them. Some where really dirty when I cleaned it down before i used them,

Main reason I joined was to get healthier...not bigger or all roided up like most of the trainers that walk around like they are God's gift. Seems like the men's sauna has been "Out of Order" forever. Have gotten colds and the flu several times since joining due to all the germs on the workout equipment. I am definitely not planning to renew my membership there.

DO NOT JOIN!!!!!! HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT, 6 months after canceling services (3 times) they still deduct $ from my account, and now even more than last month. I had to report to my bank as fraudulent charges because everytime I call they have no recollection of me cancelling. Dont waste your money!!!!!!!!!!

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! These people are so pushy to get you to get a personal trainer or add an extra expense to your membership. I wish I did not have a contract with them because I would never go back again. This place is very dirty as well. I have automatic billing and everytime I check my statement they charge me $10-$20 extra. I call them and they tell me I signed up for something yet I have not been in there in months. How does that work? Stay away from this establishment it is awful.

Lets be real. Most of these negative reviews are from people who attempted to achieve a personal gym goal and couldn't or attempted to cancel on a year long committment they made, and are taking it out on the gym. Its a great gym, with on par customer service, great variety in equipment, and a provide a very satisfactory experience. Perfect for those who are determined to achieve a physical goal and are willing to put in the work. If you are not willing, no gym will be "good" enough.

Absolute worst gym I've been a member of. 3yr member and with my experience here I've had countless billing issues to where I had to have my bank fight to get my money back bc they wouldn't just refund it to me. And out of the 4 showers in the disgusting men's room there are only 2 that work and are covered in black mold. Instead of using the $40yr maintenance fee that would easily fix the shower rooms they decide it's more necessary to airbrush a giant gorilla on the wall. Now with all that in mind they are no longer honoring the $10 a month membership and forcing existing members to now pay $20 a month so they can "fix" these issues. Hmmm funny how planet fitness can charge only $10mo but have a facility that is spotless. I canceled my membership and will never step foot back into this place that's managed by jokers. I'm sure though they will continue charging me just like the rest of the people here that left pool reviews. Don't waste your time here

I hope this reaches anyon and everyone. This place is the most criminal, low down, underhanded business, if you can call it that, I have ever had the unpleasure of dealing with. Last year I tried the workout circut. After a few months found it was not for me, pkus way more costly then they kead me to velieve. I cancelled my business with rhem. For 3 months they continued to take f7nds from ke. I had to call several times to finalky get the iwner to call me. He acted as though he didn't run his charge account the credit card company did. Like hw couldn't get my m9ney back and as if he was doing me a favor just speaking with me. My bank filed the grievance got my funds back, but it took several weeks. BOW, 8 months later, I wake up to find they took $660 out of my account. No ok, no reason. I have obce agin battle with THESE THIEVES to get MY money. DON'T TRYST RHESE PEOPKE. THEY ARE SHADY BEYOND BELIEF . Hopefully this helps someone.

I love the variety of equipment it has to offer. My only complaint is the dumbell area is always a mess. There’s three different kinds of dumbells scattered. They’re not in order on the racks most of the time. They need to invest in a newer set that matches.

I am being double billed on my husbands account. I called over a week ago and was told the finance manager would call me right away. Over a week, and still no call. Definitely regretting signing a one year contract! Only a month in, and already having billing issues. Wish I would have paid better attention to the other reviews, because then I would have known billing issues are common. :( can someone please call me back to fix this?

When trying to get the situation resolved they were not responding to my emails and calls per the receptionist the person who takes care of these issues is "really busy"... The gym itself is ok, but be careful with personal training. Don't jump into anything before talking with a manager and do your research first. I joined a team and the trainer delayed giving me a diet, gave me no fitness instruction until 1 month into things, then restricted my meal plan to that of an NPC competitor weeks before a show, after not seeing significant changes in 3 weeks. I have 50 pounds to lose and this severely hurt my performance. During my second training session, he was talking to a prospective client in the middle of the session. After voicing my concerns he spoke of our falling out with the whole team which is terrible sportsmanship. He sent me ridiculous text messages and basically reinforced my opinion that he did not believe I could handle a show prep from day 1, yet he boasted all along that he wanted me to be his success story for the year. Work with someone who will make you a priority and who will empower you- not someone who doubts you. When you start training for NPC you will inevitably mess up in the beginning. But don't work with someone who doubts you when you are learning from your mistakes. He was rude and unprofessional overall.

Worked out yesterday, Came there today to a locked empty building with no warnings. They were supposed to be open.. It was allegedly closed with no warnings to the public a day prior. I hope the best for this gym I hope things pick back up with staffing or something. I have very limited time so the days that I can make it to the gym are highly important. .

The gym has great equipment and upgraded the interior without adding costs to my membership. The staff never bothers you trying to sell products or training; that's huge plus to me. The atmosphere is great because the members workout hard and are friendly too. The price is well worth it.

If you just want to lift heavy stuff and put it down or use a cardio machine this place will work. Honestly almost any place will work for that. However, what they make up in the equipment options they definitely lack in customer service. They made a mistake in charging my Credit Card over $130 one month. Mistakes happen, I don't really care about that, I care that once I bring it to your attention you fix it and credit it back. I spoke with the guy about it 9 times over 78 days, which each time he said it was to be fixed. As each month passed I was charged another $130 (In total almost $400). Finally on Day 79 I talked with someone differently before they would not let me because they said only this person could handle it. After 5 min of discussion that person admitted how inept the other person was apologized and with 3 days I had at least one month credited back. I am still waiting on the other 2 months, but I just called back on those today. We are about on Day 86. All gyms do the same thing, what separates it from a Great gym is how they treat their clients.

I have had an awful experience with this gym. My contract ended March of last year. Shortly after I switched banks and got a new checking account. A year later I get a call from collections saying they submitted my bill as delequent and it will affect my credit score negatively. I called the gym who said even though the contract expired if you don't sign a form of termination the automatically renew your account. I received no calls, e-mails, or mail regarding money owed but of course my number was given to collections who had no problem contacting me. What a shady way to operate business!! On top of all that the gym is dirty and outdated. I would give 0 stars if I could.

if you're uncomfortable with people who are following their goals, self motivated, and are father along then you don't go here. it's not dirty, done ones always cleaning when I workout, there are pretty big trainer's there and members, but they have never been rude to me my 6 months here. I go 5-6 times a week and committed to bettering my self, most people there are pretty nice and keep to themselves. All these other people on here pissing and moaning can go grow a pair.

I’m visiting family for Christmas from Virginia, just outside Washington DC, and this gym is the closest to me. When I walked in I was warmly greeted. I explained my situation and the gentleman at the front desk suggested a one week pass. The gym is unassuming but it has all of the equipment my gym, Lifetime, has. World Gym reminded me of the gyms I see in YouTube videos of Arnold and Sly working out in. This gym is nonjudgmental and everyone is here to improve themselves. Period. If you’re looking to meet your personal goals - I suggest you come to World Gym.

If you want to be a girly man this place is not for you. People actually workout here instead of worrying about if there is a little sweat on the equipment. Those are the people who think they smell like roses... Great relaxed place with lots of equipment to keep your workout changing.

I would not recommend this gym to anyone! They claim to be 24 Hours but are only open till 10 pm in the summer and 8 pm on Sundays. Furthermore most of the staff is extremely rude including the trainers who try to bully friends working out together. The facilities are filthy dirty and outdated.

Bed bugs seriously I couldn’t believe it but yes there were bedbugs in the Locker room. Typical gym billing is terrible Never be back again Stay away
