I am semi new to Crossfit and wasn't sure if moving to a new box was a good idea. Ohio Strength has been a good fit for me. I love that I can get a workout in at 5am before heading into work. The coaches have been very good at helping me learn all the movements with appropriate scaling. Don't be afraid to give this box a try. They are very accepting and will not make you feel uncomfortable if you are new to Crossfit.

Jacob Miller

Awesome gym, great coaching staff and they run classes every half hour during busy times which is super convenient. Would recommend if your looking for a new box

I couldn’t say enough good things about Ohio Strength. I have been a member of this box for about two and a half years and I couldn’t imagine doing fitness any other way! Prior to starting Crossfit I was working out at a “standard” gym, which was fine but after a certain point I kind of plateaued. I wasn’t getting better and I found it was hard to stay motivated doing the same routine every day. One of the coolest things about Ohio Strength, and Crossfit in general is that there are different workouts every single day. You’re always doing something different and for me that is exciting! You workout in a group setting with a trainer/coach leading the class. You always have someone there to give direction and advice. All of the coaches are knowledgeable, approachable and very encouraging. Being in a group helps you push yourself so much further than you would if I were working out on your own. Everyone does the same workout but every workout we do is modifiable. No matter whether you have no fitness experience at all or you are professional athlete everything is scalable to your level, and the coaches are always more than happy to help you figure out what to do. I’ve been to a lot of gyms and I have dropped into several different Crossfit boxes around Ohio and while every place has something great to offer, Ohio Strength had always been my favorite. The community that this place has is unparalleled to any other I’ve visited. Everyone is friendly and so encouraging and I have never felt judged a single day I was there. It can be a competitive atmosphere but in the best kind of way. People are always around to push you and encourage you. There is not an unfriendly person I have met! Although the membership may seem pricy at first, you are getting your money’s worth and so much more. Not only are you signing up for a gym but you have certified trainers working with you and a whole community of people ready to welcome you and cheer you on. Whether you are looking for a new hobby, looking to get into better shape, looking to compete, or even just looking to make new friends Ohio Strength provides all of that and so much more. Come and check it out!

Ohio Strength = Game Changer. By the sixth fundamentals class, I was completely hooked. The coaches are knowledgeable and passionate; the workouts are smart, and the members are a blast to train with. Be prepared for quick improvements if you’re consistently attending. (I can already feel a difference.) This is exactly what I needed in my exercise life, which was stale, repetitive and unfocused. I’m eager to see what the fitness future holds for me – I have a feeling it will be chock-full I things I never imagined. Exercise is medicine, and Ohio Strength was the exact prescription I needed. (Although a little cowbell can’t hurt.) Warning: side effects may include improved fitness and body composition, increased energy, stamina and confidence, healthy camaraderie and improved quality of life!

Best CF gym in Columbus hands down. Great people, great management, awesome coaches!

Dana Householder

Fantastic gym! The owner, Ryan, is always very hands on, and his commitment to his members is unparalleled. He talks to every new face that comes in the door, whether it's a potential member, or just someone in the neighborhood stopping by to check out the gym. The new space is a huge improvement, as the size of the old gym was restrictive in the number of people who could workout in each class. Ohio Strength has more than enough equipment for the class sizes, and Ryan's programming involves structure and consistency. Check it out!

Evan Waite

I love this gym, the staff is great especially the morning staff who really brighten my day up every morning, with great personalities. Always put a smile on my face. In my opinion i think they deserve a raise. Anyway the gym is always clean. I would recommend it to anyone

Jamie Campbell

Great group of motivating inspiring trainers. Great workouts which help you to achieve great results. There isn't really anything i would change about my experience other than the location for convenience :-)

Michael Parker

Awesome facility with all new Rogue equipment, very clean and well maintained. Staff and members welcoming to people of all different fitness backgrounds. Very present and genuine owner with an extensive Crossfit, fitness, and nutritional background who is always open/willing to help out, which resonates across the gym and sets a very positive tone.

Christopher Farris

Great location, great gym, strong people/coaches & chill vibe.

Megan Morris

I enjoy straight to the point reviews. (Been a member for 11 months) 1. I immediately felt welcomed and accepted 2. The facility is clean 3. I joined with two mobility injuries. I have little to no issues with those areas because of the guidance/recommendations from the coaches (any movement can be modified) 4. I have far exceeded my fitness goals 5. They're an active part of the community. i.e. Logging check-ins can equal providing a coat to those in need

Great gym, excellent staff, wonderful experience. If you are on the fence, please face your fears and apprehensions and take it out on the workout. You wont regret it.

As a former football player I was very hesitant to start working out at a crossfit gym. I am used to structured steady paced traditional workouts with very little cardio mixed in. Ohio Strength Crossfit offers the same type of traditional Olympic lifting but with the added cardio and typical crossfit movements. It was a major struggle for me at first but I stuck with it and love it. This is easily the best workout I've had in quite a long time and it is now my preferred way to workout. The people here at the gym are all great folks and encourage each other so much. It's a close knit gym family and is accepting of everyone who likes to workout and have fun. I HIGHLY recommend Ohio Strength for anyone interested in a great workout. The best part is that it is trailered for any level of athletic ability. You DO NOT have to be a crossfit "expert" at all to see tremendous gains at this gym.

Elisabeth Nadler

This gym is a gem. The coaches give great, athlete-specific feedback and are very present. Overall, it has been a great place to learn and grow in a fun, positive, and supportive community with folks of varying abilities and goals. I have been coming for two months and plan to continue--can't imagine a better place to begin a CrossFit journey. Thanks, Ohio Strength!

Chris Whisler

I've been going to Ohio Strength for a little less than six months now, and I can honestly say that I would not have made the gains that I have without it. Before Crossfit at this box, I had been lifting with machines at a local, run-of-the mill gym. While I made some slight gains there, Ohio Strength accelerated my gains to where I did not think possible, and taught me proper weightlifting form. The training team is top-notch. Do yourself a favor and stop by. You won't regret dropping in or signing up.

Teri Williams

Everyone is different. Everyone needs something to make them somehow better. I will write this for a certain contingency of the population. I have always been active physically active. I like CrossFit because of the varied movements. CrossFit is hard. I like the challenge that the programing provides. CrossFit is not boring. There is always something you can learn and improve on. Because the coaches there all remember my name, are all so happy to accommodate my physical restrictions, all encourage me and watch that I am performing the movements correctly Ohio Strength is good for me. I’m completely happy not having a shower available and the overwhelming smell of pizza baking that is not for me after a workout. Most of the coaches and many of my friendly classmates could be my children. Italian Village CrossFit/Ohio Strength has been good so far to and for this old lady. Patty Failla I am not but I would like to work out with her.

jill Jones

The Ohio Strength staff was great responding to my inquiries about their facilities and were definitely an option I was considering. I decided not to join this organization because their facility does not offer locker rooms/ showers

Anne Leidigh

I dropped in at this gym while I was at a conference in Columbus at the convention center. It was a quick easy drive from my hotel attached to the conference center. The coaches were friendly and informative. They did a great job circulating around the class and giving cues. The class was structured well and ran smoothly. The members were pretty quiet, but I wouldn't expect much excitement at 6am. Parking was a little confusing, but the gym owner was happy to help explain to me where I could park with out getting towed! I will use this box again when I am in Columbus for conferences in the future.

YXU Life

We are a social enterprise apparel brand that hosts a series of community events in Columbus. Ryan and the team at Ohio Strength were gracious hosts for a mental health awareness workout we coordinated. They allowed the entire community to come together and rally behind a cause. Ohio Strength is a great neighbor and a great member of the Columbus community.

Evan Schreiber

I tried a crossfit class for my first time and had a great experience. Before the class started I let the coach know I was new, and she really went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable throughout the class. You could easily tell the community there is friendly and supportive. It was definitely a great way for me to experience what crossfit is. Even though I don't think I will take another class because it's not what I want for fitness, I would highly recommend trying a class here if you're interested or already into crossfit.

I love this gym so far. The people are all very nice and super supportive. I recently joined here because of the amazing proximity to my house- I was a little worried because I already belonged to another CrossFit gym and switching made me a little nervous. Ryan is the only coach I've worked with so far, but his programming is challenging and enjoyable, he knows how to keep you motivated during a workout, and he's very knowledgeable about form and movements... and generous with that knowledge. Attend a free trial if you are interested- or just dive right in. Easygoing crowd. Good coach. Awesome new large facility. It's just great. Can't recommend it enough.

I moved from NYC in 2016 and always struggled to find aggressive, committed professionals in Columbus. The huge lifestyle change affected my health and energy level. But Ohio Strength is AMAZING. I just started, in really bad shape..with zero motivation and hope - but people here and the owner - Ryan are BOMB!! I started personal training with Ryan and he is the BEST. The tough coaching I was looking for, the committed professionalism and the knowledge is spot on!! For every 60 min session he is super dedicated. 6 sessions in, I can already feel the difference. Thank You Ryan for pulling me out of my comfort zone. Group classes are amazing as well - coaches are super helpful to tweak the workout to align with your fitness level. No judgment ever. So YES!! All heart <3

I am one of those people who insisted that Crossfit was not for me. But 6 months ago, a friend convinced me to do a free trial at Ohio Strength and I’m so glad she did. This place is so much more than just a gym. The people here are fun, welcoming, and always ready to help out. And it’s one of the few gyms where I’ve ever felt comfortable admitting when I don’t know what I’m doing and asking for help. That says a lot for the type of community Ryan (the owner) has built at Ohio Strength. But aside from all the warm fuzzies, the progress I’ve made here is incredible. On top of learning a bunch of new lifts, I’ve seen huge jumps (50-100%) in my max on all lifts. As much as I’d like to say that’s just me reaching a whole new level of beast mode, I’m pretty sure a lot of that is also because of all the coaching on proper form I’ve gotten here. The amount of knowledge on proper technique Ryan and the other coaches at this gym have is just awesome. I know I can always count on them to set me straight on form and then encourage me until I hit the goals I’ve set. All in all, a fantastic group. Listen, I’m not one to write reviews for anything really. But Ohio Strength deserves a review. I love everything about this place.

Just came to ohio and googled top gyms and this gym seems to really catch my eye. only problem is I see no diversity in the group. Must be a very close knit gym family.

Moving from SoCal to CBUS and finding the right box took some time for me. Thankfully there was Ohio Strength: Wonderful atmosphere in which Coaches and other athletes/members greet you with a smile. Plenty of space for activities: exciting programming where we get to use all their top (Rogue) notch equipment. Excellent/Educated Coaches who assist everyone regardless of their experience into the sport or physical limitations. I'll be sticking around for a while!

I joined Ohio Strength 2 ½ years ago. At the time I was looking for something to challenge me, get me back in shape, and meet people as I was new to Columbus. This was the best decision I’ve ever made. I played multiple sports throughout High School but quickly fell into a monotonous routine of underwhelming workouts in my adult life. During my first week of CrossFit onboarding the owner, Ryan, worked with me one-on-one to ensure I learned proper technique and felt confident in my movements. I had never held a barbell in my life. Fast forward and I am now in the best shape of my life, I am stronger and feel better for it every day. Not only have the small victories over the past few years made all my hard work worth it (my first pull up, clean and jerking my body weight, my first muscle up), but the camaraderie and sense of community that I’ve found at Ohio Strength is like none other. I’ve made life-long friends here and for that I’m truly grateful to Ryan, all of the coaches, and members that make me look forward to going to the gym every day.

Knowledgeable coaches and intentional training regimen. Great location, great facility, great people.

Seventh Son Brewing Company

When we first opened up at Seventh Son I always wondered why there were groups of people running around the block randomly in the morning and afternoon. Two years ago (having become thoroughly bored by just treadmills and pushups) I finally decided to find out. At Ohio Strength the instructors are great and the people are friendly. There are all different experience levels and backgrounds and even if you like drinking beer as much as burpees and kettle bell swings you still feel comfortable. Two years in I'm healthier and really glad I joined- Collin

I recently moved to Columbus a couple of months ago and wanted to get back into crossfit. Ohio Strength was the perfect place to pick it back up. The coaching staff is top notch and very friendly. I am only 3 months in but have progressed immensely from the start. Great place - Great People.

This gym has grown immensely in the past year and a half and deserves an updated review. Major improvements to an already awesome gym: - Moved to a new, massive space. - Extensive equipment upgrade. Now one of the most impressive fitness facilities around. - Continually adding more class times. - More coaches on staff, all of which are excellent. This adds more in-house certifications/specialties (e.g. Olympic weightlifting, yoga, etc.) - Expanded programming (boot camps, competition training, youth programs) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 12/17/14 I’ve been a member at Ohio Strength for about four months now, and I would absolutely recommend this gym to anyone who wants to get stronger, healthier, or just generally in better shape. Ryan’s background in exercise science and nutrition as well as experience with personal training is one of the biggest assets to this gym. His focus on proper form and technique makes sure you get a good workout while avoiding injury. The great community that is quickly growing here also keeps things fun and motivating. The programing is well planned, the equipment is all new, and the training is top notch. I highly recommend for anyone serious about getting in shape and bettering their health.

I'm almost three months in and I'm so glad I took a leap of faith and did the free class back in February. I went into it simply looking for a more affordable substitution for personal training, but it has become so much more. I spent the last year transforming my lifestyle through diet and exercise but it was all driven by a need to lose weight...which is great, but it's not a sustainable motivation. You burn out, you beat yourself up, etc. My favorite thing about this gym and Crossfit in general is that I actually look forward to working out and have goals that extend beyond wanting to be thinner. I'm more excited about being able to squat lower or use a lighter band to do pull ups than I am about a number on the scale...which is going down by the way so you still get in great shape...You just actually enjoy it and challenge yourself and set goals and build muscle and break PR's and meet nice people. To make things more specific to Ohio Strength, every coach I've had has personally introduced themselves to me, remembers my name, helps me with modifications, encourages me to do things I think I can't do, etc. The owner, Ryan, cares very much about providing quality programming and welcomes feedback. Whether you're an experienced Crossfitter, or brand new like I was, I highly recommend this gym and these coaches.

Over the last year at Ohio Strength I’ve gotten in the best shape of my life while meeting lots of incredible people. The programing is well planned and varied. As someone who has dealt with shoulder problems in the past, I appreciate that the workouts can be scaled so they are still challenging. The coaches are committed to helping everyone succeed. They do a great job of demonstrating the movements before the rest of the group and provide additional support to those that need help with improving their technique. Working out has become a big part of my daily routine and I am so glad that I get to do CrossFit at Ohio Strength!

I was a CrossFit rookie 1 yr ago when I started going to Ohio Strength, and now I’m addicted. My body has transformed and I’m possibly in the best shape of my life. In high school, I couldn’t climb a rope to the ceiling or do more than 2 strict pull-ups. Who else had to do the hang with me on the Presidential Physical Fitness test?! Within a year, I can climb a rope to the ceiling (more than once) and have shattered my old pull-up record. What I love about CrossFit is that I don’t have to think about what to do during a workout. As a college athlete, I was used to going to practice and being told what to do. I love that about workouts at Ohio Strength. I also love the programming. It’s varied, challenging, and it keeps me engaged and motivated. Most of all, I have met amazing people that encourage me, motivate me, inspire me, and keep me going each morning. A simple, “see you tomorrow,” is all I need to make it back to class the next day and not miss out on all the fun! Come join us!

I'm a person that has tried a little of everything: boxing, running, cycling, HIIT, etc. I tried crossfit in a traditional box setting a few years back and loved the workout, but not necessarily the box. I strongly believe it takes a great workout routine, a strong motivating coaching staff, and a welcoming group of members to create a motivational and successful atmosphere. After completing two half marathons I decided to amp up my workout routine. Running alone wasn’t giving me the physical results I was driving for. As a larger person I’ve always been a bit hesitant to jump out of my comfort zone and into an elite athlete atmosphere. Needless to say I was a bit anxious walking into Ohio Strength—Home of CrossFit Italian Village for the first time. Quickly scanning the environment soothed my anxiety, by seeing people of every ability level performing the workout like a badass. Everyone was very welcoming and no one was there to judge anyone but himself or herself. The 3 fundamental classes taught by Ryan were no joke. It was very comforting to be with a group of beginners like myself. Ryan is very passionate and knowledgeable about the sport. His main goal isn’t the weight you’re lifting, but instead teaching you proper form so you can stay safe and healthy while progressing. The workouts are pushing you out of your comfort zone. They are hard. They are sweaty. They produce the most rewarding feeling that makes you want more! Overall I’m looking forward to calling CrossFit Italian Village my home. Being with a community of like-minded people drives me to be better every day! If you’re on the fence about joining crossfit, come to Ohio Strength—Home of CrossFit Italian Village! You won’t regret it!

Nice place & friendly trainers! Fantastic workout that challenges you and you can go at your own pace. Not an intimidating place for a first time CrossFitter :)

I started CrossFit because it was recommended to me in addition to medical treatment for depression. After moving to Cbus from NYC in Jan, 2018 I felt the usual mood swings and... stuff that comes with moving to a new city where you don’t know anyone. I am SO. DAMN. THANKFUL I came to Ohio strength! The coaches are amazing people. All of them. They will never push you beyond your limits and are always helpful to answer questions and remind you that “fitness is half the battle. Go and have a healthy meal,” “trust the process.” This mindset is also reflected in the regular athletes here. Super welcoming, inclusive (Ohio Stregth has a group that marches in Cbus’ pride) and above all supportive of one another. Worth the money even if you just want to make friends After moving to Cbus.

Rebekah E Whittles

Got to drop in and learn from these guys for a week and they are absolutely awesome! Coaches are knowledgeable, kind, and so helpful. Overall it was an awesome atmosphere with very hardworking and talented people. Definitely felt like everyone was a family, and I wish I lived closer so I could join. Can't go wrong hanging out with these guys, so if your thinkin about it, just shoot Ryan an email. You won't regret it.

Great coaches and good class sizes. Great atmosphere!

This gym has changed my life for the better! The coaches are all so caring. The facility is well stocked with Rogue equipment and is cleaner than most CrossFit gyms that I’ve been to. The members are all so friendly. Parking is convenient, and it is located to so many other great things to do in downtown Columbus!

Allison Mester

I will admit, I am someone who has not liked working out in the past. I have tried many different gyms, personal trainers, and "fad" diets. It seems like I have been trying to lose the same 15 pounds for the past 10 years and it has been frustrating and has seemed hopeless at times. I have now been a member at Ohio Strength for 6 months and not only am I close to reaching most of my health and fitness goals, I have exceeded many others and have made so many amazing friends in the process. Now I actually LOOK FORWARD TO GOING TO THE GYM!! Reflecting back on the past 6 months, I believe this change in my body and my attitude is due to two main reasons: 1)Ryan McFadyen and Nick Voss are really great coaches. I have had good coaches in the past but they do not compare to Ryan & Nick. Ryan & Nick know how to coach to improve weakness while maintaining strengths as well as encourage you the whole way through. The programming is great and the classes are challenging but I never leave the gym feeling like I did a "bad job" -even if I wasn't able to follow the Rx programming. 2)The environment is like nothing I have every experienced at a gym. I feel conformable asking Ryan & Nick questions or for extra help. Their knowledge of fitness and health is extensive and I feel confident when working out. The atmosphere is also something that I value. I have never been to a gym where I seem to make a new friend every time I attend a class. I currently attend classes 4 days a week (up from 3 days a week about three months ago because I could not get enough!) and I meet new people all of the time while getting to know others better than the day before. The encouragement and energy from the coaches and other members is contagious and really fabulous after a hard day a work. I highly recommend attending the FREE trial if you are at all interested!

One of my first experiences with Ohio Strength was Memorial Day Murph, and I felt instantly welcomed into their community of great people who work hard and have fun. The facility is amazing and the coaches are knowledgeable and take the time to get to know their members. The programming is a challenging mix of strength, endurance, gymnastics, and mobility. Classes are structured with workout specific warmups and cooldowns that have helped me to feel prepped and recovered for each session. Class time is efficient and effective and is by far the best hour of my day.

If you’re looking for a Crossfit gym with great people, great sense of community, great coaches, Ohio Strength is the place for you. The coaches do a fantastic job of being sure that they’re providing everyone with individualized attention with form and safety being their number one priority. You’ll find individuals at all stages of their fitness journey, which really makes it a fun environment to be in. The facility is huge with plenty of room for athletes to spread out and complete their work. Not to mention they just added a small turf field! I would strongly encourage you to try out Ohio Strength whether you're new to Crossfit or someone who's been doing it for years. You won’t be disappointed!

Ohio Strength is an amazing gym/box in Columbus, Ohio. I have been a member for the last 2 years. I started my experience with Crossfit almost 60 pounds heavier than I am today. I was overweight, out of shaped and had challenges motivating myself to workout and be fit. The coaching at Ohio Strength changed all of that for me. When I started I was in a very different place than some of the other participants at the gym. Never once was I looked down upon by either coaches or fellow gym members because if it. I scaled and did simpler versions of many of the workouts due to my strength and ability. The coaching staff was beyond helpful in working with my ability and finding the right ways to push and encourage me. The coaches at Ohio Strength care about you. They are well trained and certified. They don't create unsafe WODs. They want you to succeed - truly. I have never once felt that the coaching was not looking after my best interest. My fitness and strength have improved 200% since joining. In the process I have made friends and found a community to connect with when it comes to fitness and my personal goals. If you are on the fence, feel too out of shape, or are afraid of Crossfit- STOP! This was me.... Ohio Strength is beyond welcoming- it's a family- one that is more than willing to take you in!

This place is awesome. The coaches are so knowledgeable, helpful, and welcoming - I have definitely found my second home!

I had been wanting to get involved with a crossfit gym for a while but was skeptical about whether I could do it or if it would be a good fit. Ohio Strength has absolutely sold me! The owner and all of the trainers are fantastic and can adapt to every skill level. Not only is there any easy to use app to register for classes, track your progress, view the WODs, but now they offer Yoga and Olympic Weightlifting. I definitely recommend giving it a try! Great people. Great gym. Great culture!

rudy borro

I came in for a few drop-ins and loved it. This place is huge, and has the most equipment that I have ever saw in box! One other cool thing is that the Rogue facility is right around the corner. It’s pretty amazing! The people and energy is great. Two thumps up!

I recently moved to Ohio and started with Ohio Strength after crossfitting for the past few years. The programming is consistently challenging, and I have seen some of my biggest gains in the shortest time here. The community is very supportive and the coaches are readily available to give you advice and input. I'd definitely recommend this gym to anyone new or experienced with crossfit.

I joined OhioStrength looking for a new and more healthy way to workout after I found myself with two stress fractures and basically unable to exercise at all for about 6 months after the 2014 Columbus Marathon. I am so glad I joined! I've been a member since June, and I feel so much healthier, and for the first time in the past eight years I am not experiencing any overuse injuries! This is HUGE! I am improving every day, and am never afraid to ask questions or ask for help or advice with the movements. The programming is well thought out and the coaches are always happy to answer questions. So happy I found this gym and to be a member of the Ohio Strength community!

Most people hear "Cross-Fit" and automatically file it under the "too extreme" or "not for me" category. I have been fairly athletic throughout my life and wandered into Ohio Strength looking for a break from the norm. I have now been an active member of Ohio Strength for just over a year and can not think of one negative effect from my membership. I have made multiple #gains throughout this year. I've extended my friend circle, increased my overall muscle mass, tailored my eating and have become a better version of myself. Ryan is not just a coach, he has built a safe zone that challenges you daily but is always there as a guide when a workout is too much, not enough or if you just feel stuck. This past year has seen exponential growth in membership, class variety and a new geographic location. This is an Italian Village gem and I urge everyone to check it out, give it a chance and reap the benefits.

Ashley Hetzel

I've been a member of Ohio Strength for almost a year and absolutely love it. Everything from the coaching, the members, the programming, the equipment, and the location is awesome. I've been doing Crossfit on and off for about 3 years and have been a member at other Columbus Crossfit gyms, but this was has been where I've felt at home. Whether you are new to Crossfit and exercising or experienced, there is a home for you here.

Thanks to the Ohio Strength coaches and owner Ryan McFadyen for all the effort and hard work you put in to make the gym what it is today. It’s clear that the programming and movement knowledge has improved all of our atheletes. Lots of very valuable relationships being built in the process. Thank you!

9 months in to my first CrossFit experience and I'm so happy I chose Ohio Strength to be my gym. I did a lot of research before picking a gym and Ohio Strength had it all - great coaches, introductory classes, close to home and the Short North, and members that push me to be the best I can. I love that the gym is clean and stays clean along with great Rouge equipment. I'm looking forward to 2018 and my one year mark at Ohio Strength and CrossFit!
