I've been a member of this gym since the day they opened and the gains I've made I could not have made anywhere else. This is a gym, not happy hour, not a pizza party, not a place to pick up dates, and not a fitness club frenzy..if you are looking for that this isn't the gym for you. There are no bad attitudes or other members trying to size you up and other members will always try and help you if you need it . This gym has people that are serious about getting fit, staying fit, and those who compete in various sports or shows. Lastly, I understand the 30 day cancel notice...a lot of places require cancel notices so not sure why that seems so shocking.

I’m a 52 year old woman Veteran who has had several trainers at gyms around the world. Nate and Courtney are simply the best! They care and have the best interest of their clients as well as the gym members and it shows. The caliber of equipment, the continuous upgrades, the cleanliness and the friendly atmosphere makes American Barbell the complete package. Nate and Courtney are always available to help members. I don’t understand how any member can say differently.

Beautiful equipment but cardio is always broken, TVs and air conditioning are rarely on. Water fountains and lights constantly out. Kids area is hit or miss with staff. Customer service leaves much to be desired. Was really excited about what this place could have been.

I’ve been going here for almost 2 months now. This gym is the Mecca of health and fitness. Plenty of weight training equipment, CrossFit rooms, and cardio equipment to give you the one stop shop for your needs. Now that MaxMuscle is inside the gym, you don’t ever have to go anywhere else for your health and fitness needs. This gym is always clean, which is huge for me. Weights are always neatly placed away. Everyone in this gym cares about each other and their equipment. Owners Nate and Courtney are the nicest people you will ever meet. They are always actively inside the gym, willing to help you with anything you could ever need. Locker rooms never smell bad and are always clean, which is hard to find in most gyms. Best gym you can find in the greater Columbus area!

If you like working out and staying fit, then this is the gym for you. I've been going to American Barbell since they first opened in 2017. As far as gyms go, I think this place is the cream of the crop! There are rows and rows of new work out stations including the latest Rogue and Prime Gym Equipment. I've never had to wait on dumbbells! American Barbell has the largest dumbbell selection I have ever seen and they are nice! Since they opened I've been coming to American Barbell about 3 times a week. The gym is definitely clean and a great environment to work out. The owners are nice and personable. I've trained with Nate since 2016. He cares a lot about the community, his gym and takes great pride in his business.

Great gym, but bring your headphones. The music they play is consistently the least “workout” related music that I’ve ever heard. I’m pretty sure nobody on the planet can feel motivated to lift weights or run while “My Heart Will Go On” is playing on the sound system. Being open 24/7 is great, the equipment is pretty good, and it’s not packed with impossibly beautiful and fit people like a lot of other gyms. The people here are really here just to work out. It’s a great atmosphere, just terrible music.

It looks like one reviewer had some issues. I have been going there 3-4 times a week for the past month. Some cardio equipment is down, but when you have (approximately) 14 treadmills, four step machines, 10 or so bikes, and eight or so eliptical machines, and one or two are down, it's no big deal. Especially when the most people I've seen in the cardio room is 3. I've never had a problem with the fountains. A/C and such is always on when I'm there. At any rate, this is a serious gym, but the patrons and the staff are nice. The owners probably have 300+ dumbbells, with the heaviest being a set or two of 150 pounders. You can have 10 people using dumbbells, and there are still plenty to be found for your average Joe. Tons of free weight equipment and Prime equipment (similar to Hammer Strength, but better). They have sleds for dragging/pushing, kettlebells, tons of medicine balls, two farmer carry frames, four squat racks, barbell curling bars, heavy ropes, four to six dedicated deadlift areas, huge tires to flip, etc. Great place. Reasonable, too. Not a ton of people there at any given time, even in the 4-7 p.m. range. I like it. Plus, it is open 24/7.

Incredible facility with top of the line equipment. It is by far the best gym I have ever been to. Owners are hands on and extremely knowledgeable. I would highly recommend for the beginner to the advanced.

The equipment is high level it definitely gets 5 stars. The management is very pompous and off putting and gets 1 star. I come to lift and stay healthy, if you're inexperienced and looking to learn and become knowledgeable this probably isn't the gym to start at.

I did have a 5 star review for this place until I really started realizing how terrible this gym is, seriously. From the rudest staff ever, dirty atmosphere, horrible customer service, and poor car of equipment. How hard can it possibly be to say, "Hello" when a paying member walks through the door. Then they have all these military flags and American pride stuff up. But I'm a veteran and get treated worst than homeless person begging for money. Like good grief. Your prices are already outrageous, how much more can you seriously screw your members... This place is the worst of the worst.

The layout of this gym and the equipment is amazing. Very good weights, machines, cardio, and racks. Love the 24 hour access. They do need to put more money/effort into keeping it cleaner and could use some money in the locker room area. The staff also needs to be a little friendlier, but overall a decent gym for the price.

My girlfriend and I came out for the Arnold expo and wanted to try this gym but it was a half hour away from our hotel. Kid named Caleb working there told us they are doing a weekend pass for Arnold, we paid $40 and he told us the pass is good for the whole weekend. We asked him if we needed a receipt or if they gave us a physical pass to use when we came back to which he replied “nope we don’t do that, don’t worry I’ll recognize you and I’ll vouch” and ultimately shrugged it off like it was no big deal. So Sunday morning we leave at 8 for a quick session before checkout and we are asked if we filled out paperwork, and when we said no the lady said “well I’m sorry if he said it’s good for 2 days but you’ll have to pay again” and when I mentioned the guys name she acted like she didn’t know him. Really mislead and extremely inconvenienced. They advertised a weekend Arnold pass over the phone and then acted like they had no knowledge of it. We left and it was a waste. Pretty shady If you ask me, dude probably pocketed the money which is why we didn’t get paperwork or fill anything out. I work at a gym, you always at least sign a waiver.

Love the small town feel of this place. It's a very nice sized gym with lots of squat racks and equipment. I'm a runner and have used their treadmills. I like the quality of their equipment but I've used two of the treadmills and there were issues with both. I love that there's a free Child Watch center; that makes it easier to go as a family. I can workout with my husband and my daughter's close by, so we can check on her easily.

Not very knowledgeable staff about pricing and cancellation. It's a gym why would you have to give a 30 day notice it's not an apartment. Do not waste your time here.

Love this gym! First off, there is a lot of equipment. I have never seen so many dumbells in a gym before. I have never had a problem getting in a good workout even during the busy times. Secondly, everyone who works there is friendly and willing to answer questions or help. In addition, as a new mom the fact that child care is included and available is a huge bonus! Another bonus is that the gym is 24/7! I have recommended this gym to everyone that I know and they all seem to be happy with it as well.
