Great family environment. I personally haven't experienced any problems with any of the staff. The only problems I have are that they aren't really 24 hours. Also, there are like three or four shower stalls in the men's locker room, however, only one shower curtain. So unless you are good with putting your goods on display you'll have to wait for the shower to freed up.
I enjoyed my experience. Joseph was very nice and very informative. He gave us a great tour of the facility. It is a little bit of an older building and a little bit of a maze. But what they lack in upgrades they make up for in availability. I don't have to wait for a weight machine. Nice people, nice environment, very laid back.
The best gym in town by far. It's never crowded and it has a lot of different things to do, like ping pong (the only reason my wife even goes there), tennis, a hot tub, and two pools. It's a little more expensive than Planet Fitness, but how much is your fitness worth to you? You'll enjoy Courts Plus a lot more. You''ll get more of a workout in. You'll be able to swim when you go. No waiting in line to use the machines.. Just pay the extra $20 a month.
this place is horrible. over crowded weight room with poor equipment. over charged. cannot cancel 1 or 2 year contracts. also month to month is still charged cancellation fee. if you're looking to do cardio or swim yeah its great. they are just unfair and make up rules. very poor management. also if your over 6ft tall youre going to push weights through the ceiling.
Great place, regardless of where you are on your health and fitness journey
Called to get rates (couldn't fine rates on the website) and two managers told me that they cannot give me rates over the phone, it's their policy. She said she'd have the owner call me but I could tell based on her tone that isn't going to happen. They just lost money.
Great family environment. Amazing outdoor pool! I would recommend the classes to anyone, great instructors and great space!
Excellent
This place is a really good place to come to. I would recommend coming here than going anywhere else
Indoor pool is disgusting....mold and algae everywhere
Has everything you need for a gym. Not updated at all, but has indoor & outdoor pool, childcare up to 3 or 4hrs, indoor basketball court. I didn't have the best experience with childcare...but the employee's rotate and some are better than others
I will be joining this gym. Destiny is a wonderful sales person
Great family oriented place to work out and exercise. Indoor pool and saunas... Huge gym, racquetball courts, tanning beds, free childcare w/ video games....
This gym allowed me to loose 56 lbs since March and I'm now sponsored as an NPC athlete for Mens Physique the staff is super friendly and they all care about their members meeting their fitness goals. Lots of support and love from the staff making the gym feel like you belong to a family. This gym helped me rehabilitate after being a former alcoholic and truly changed the direction of my life. Thank you Courts Plus I will always think of you as my home gym.
Very unprofessional people, very rude! I called in January to cancel the membership, spoke to some girl, who put me on very long hold and then came back and said membership was cancelled. Now I see $53 trying to come out of the account. Called Court's Plus, was given number to the billing office. Called there, explained situation, spoke to office manager Melissa, who refused to refund the money, even though we haven't been to Court's Plus in more than a month. Said I could not remember girl's name, so according to policy she's not going to do anything. Even after I told her my husband will get new membership under his name, I was refused in very rude tones. Called Court's Plus back, spoke to manager Jennifer, who said she understands and she sees that nobody used the membership, we can switch to his name and to another rate, but money still would not be refunded. So thanks to $53, Court's Plus lost 4 customers and many more that I will tell this story to. Good Job!
Great place to exercise and have fun. Two pools, a hot tub and 5 racket ball Court's. Price is Right as well.
It is a very nice place to work out
Great staff
I really enjoy coming here. The staff is wonderful, the childcare is great, there are so many different classes to choose from and they are so much fun! The facility is big and there is a lot to do. The only reason I don't give it a 5 star rating is because the building is older and could really use some repairs/updates, but that doesn't keep me from continuing to be a member. I love this place!
Great gym.
Good Gym. They have something for everyone here. See you there.
So many fitness options for the whole family
Best gym in town.
Love the gym has everything and then some and never busy when I go. So no waiting and have the whole basketball court to myself.
This place would be perfect if they would update it. Other than that it has everything you need .
This place is ok. It has everything you need and is clean. It is outdated but thats not a big deal. The biggest con is their operating hours. I am cancelling my membership on this alone. I like to work out late or really early and they are closed early and late on weekends.
Nice facility, nice environent, just visiting the area, but I enjoyed the place
Love the staff..little older gym but great if your looking for a inside or outside pool..
Outstanding facility..knowledgeable responsive staff. There are so many activies to participate in...IT is the only bill I do not resent
I liked this gym a lot for my first time going. Just to talk about what they have to offer. They have a weight room, cardio room, multiple racquetball courts, HITT room, saunas, Daycare, indoor and outdoor pool. They offer a lot of classes that come with membership. I work for the county and they have great county rates. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the “old” feel. The outside of the building has been the same for 15 years, just a faded old building. The cardio room is nice but they have TONS of ellipticals that I wish they would switch out some for more stair masters.. The Fall hours aren't the most convenient other then that glad I got a membership there. JOSEPH JOSEPH JOSEPH!!! HE’S AWESOME!! TALK TO HIM IF YOU GO
First time in the gym today. I did arms so most of this review will be about dumbells. And here is my first and honest observation. The gym, despite being quite old and having outdated equipment was, to me, very well maintained. The staff was by no means rude and they don't like to get in people's way when while working out. I think that they were very courteous and are eager to help when approached. They aren't the typical staff where they will pretend to be nice but, like I said, they are BY NO MEANS rude. It's a gym, people! Not a preschool. Don't expect the staff to coddle you! I am used to working out in gyms aboard Marine Corps bases and it is nice to be in a gym that doesn't get as crowded as a gym full of Marines day in and day out. Although the difference between Marines and civilians is that Marines actually put their weights back and clean the equipment that they use. That is to no fault of the staff but the lack of discipline of its members. I kind of feel bad for the staff in Courts Plus having to return weights and clean sweaty equipment that someone else used. The gym has everything you need and can think of! An indoor and outdoor pool, a weight room with complete equipment to tackle any kind of workouts, a cardio room, multiple racket ball courts, an indoor basketball court, a play area for little tots, and so on! I would have given the gym a 5 star rating but here are the reasons why I did not. 1. A lot of the equipment needs to be updated. There were multiple weights that were severely rusted and dumbells that were extremely old and slightly bent out of shape. 2. There is no uniformity in the type of dumbells that they have on the racks. They have multiple brands of dumbells that have varying handles so I would have to change my grip in order to adapt to the kind of dumbells I use. (The type of dumbells change way too often as I increase the weight.) 3. They had dumbells weighing only up to 100lbs. (I need a gym that carries at least up to 140 - 150lb dumbells in order for me to achieve the limits of my daily workouts.) Other than that, I believe that Courts Plus is a wonderful place to set my mind free and get a decent workout without having to wait in a line full of testosterone raging Marines. I will update my review as I move on to different workouts.
I enjoy my time here, plus customer service is awesome!
Equipment is old and same with the interior. They do not put in any effort to fix up the place. The only reason I am giving one star is because of the trainers. But once they lost heaven, they lost me.
Not renewing my contract. Poor quality equipment OVERALL. The hours of operation are not sufficient, if you say you are a "24 hours" facility then stay that way, not for a certain period of time for the week (my opinion). Indoor, outdoor pool, sauna, racquet ball areas, (mens) locker room, synergy area, daycare, employees are All ok.
Great health club overall. I usually go when they open at 4:30 a.m. and it's awesome. The weight room is empty so I can get a great workout in without it being crowded. It's probably the best "club" experience in the county.
Gym was a good environment for families and fitness enthusiasts. my contract ended in 0ct of 2012 and four months later, i was being charged for services i did not even use. When i called about it, they hid behind their contract and stated that they do not send out notices of the end of contracts. Who remembers all of the contracts and legal matters that they sign? No one! This issue was (hopefully) resolved with an email that i just sent asking to stop charges. No leniency was given even though the records indicate that I have not been using the gym for 6+ months. There are better places to lift weights at.
I like it. But to pricey.
Best money you can invest and I take my family every day we love it and I get to bring my kids and they have activities for the kids indoor pool outdoor pool
It has everything
Shady business practices. I signed up and less then a month later my debit card information was stolen. They took a photo copy of my debit card instead of just inputing my numbers into a secure system. Was advised by my bank that I should not go back to this establishment.
Use the pool for Aquatic Physical Therapy.
Friendly staff out dated
Little dated but has everything.
Check out my Zumba class Saturday 8:30am. We have fun and get a work out!
Indoor pool is dirty, and NOT in constant working order. Needs updating in bathrooms. Friendly staff.
Love it
Amazing...the trainers and staff are awesome. ...
Great place for the whole family.
Great place !
I love it there just wait a couple more months
Nice gym lots of things To do weight room.two swimming pools.racket ball.basketball.aerobics. baby sitting and more.
Kinda disappointed at the fact that only one recumbent bike has been working and it is always in use when I come. The other 3 or 4 don't seem to work but are still there.
Amazing people!! Stinky and dirty atmosphere. But once you look past the ceiling being moldy from rain during it's long tenure here in Jacksonville and the constant smell of mold and rust and dirt, you will fall in love!!!
Very Poor management. It has more amenities than any other club around. They don't enforce showers before pool and Jacuzzi. They dont enforce age rules in Jacuzzi allow children in diapers in tub and sign states no one under 13. Cleanliness is mediocre to poor recently. I qish the management would manage it is an awesome asset to our city.
Love my gym! Has everything including childcare!!
Pros: The facility has an indoor and outdoor pool, a hot tub, and a sauna. The outdoor pool has pretty trees surrounding it. Friendly staff. Cons: The entire building is very dirty and outdated. The indoor pool area is crumbling and the walls and floors are filthy everywhere. The tanning bed room is dirty, the bed’s pillow and the chair in the room have rips everywhere. You cannot access the pool or workout areas without having to walk through the entire building. And when you are trying to relax in the pool area, there is a very annoying alarm that goes off each time the door is opened. Not sure why this alarm exists. Major bummer. Overall I am a member here for the pools and because it’s the only place I know of in Jacksonville with pools and a sauna. The workout areas are nothing special-the cardio machines don’t have access to a television. Much too quiet also. I would like to see them update this facility or for Jacksonville to build a new facility.
The instructors and most of the staff are great, however everything else (especially the child care) leaves something to be desired. We ran into several minor problems during our year and a half as members, however the final straw was when my daughter was 5 months old and someone came to get me because she was again, inconsolable in their words. I went up there and found her lying on the floor in the infant area. She was alone, and screaming so hard she was shaking. Every single one of the girls working was standing around chatting away while she screamed. I picked her up, got my son and we left. I only went back once, to cancel. I let the manager know exactly why we were leaving and that we had found another gym with great care for our children.
I'm desapointed the way they handled their business. Very poor customer service. Can't billing anything right. Can't send letters in mail when you own money or calling you. Then they finally warned when 10 months past due. I complained to a manager, the escuse was there's too many costumers we can't handle everybody. Their bookeeping can't do their job right.
friendly staff and great place to work out
Power percieved is power achieved
I have been attending Courts Plus for a bit now and I have been very please overall with my experience. Instead of writing a long drawn out review of things, I've decided that the most effective review I can give will be a "pro" and "con" list. I hope that this helps some with making the choice of whether or not to choose Courts Plus as their fitness headquarters. PROS: - LOCALLY OWNED! - Competitive prices compared to other gyms in the area and around the state. - Will tell you their prices over the phone, which other gyms in this area won't do. - Great staff in the childcare room, one of the few places I'm 100% comfortable leaving my children. - Nice and friendly staff, always polite and willing to help if you need anything. - Variety of workout options including two pools. The plan is to, in the future, switch the pools to salt water (this is a big PRO for me!) - Variety of classes throughout the days/weeks so there is something for everyone. - They offer an alternative plan for just peak hours (or is it off peak? I think it's peak) for a cheaper price. - They have a great program for the first 30 days of enrollment where if you can get anyone else to sign up they will not only waive that person's enrollment fee, your account is credited $50. - Dry sauna. - Although more expensive, they do offer a month-to-month payment plan so you don't have to be locked into anything. CONS: - The enrollment fee is a bit high compared to gyms throughout the state. They do often have "half off" deals, but it's still high. The highest being $126 currently. - They do NOT have free childcare as advertised. The "free" childcare comes with paying for your child to be a member. That meant me paying an extra $20 per month. While this is cheaper than getting a sitter, I believe it to be false advertising that this is "free" or "included" childcare. - Their childcare room, though staffed by amazing people, is a bit...blah. Not very many toys, plain white walls and floor. I think they could be more imaginative in this department for the sake of the kids. NEUTRAL COMMENTS: - Be aware that this is an OLD BUILDING. Sometimes there are leaks after heavy rains, some lockers in the locker rooms don't have hinges. In my opinion this just happens and is neither a pro nor a con. - Don't be turned off by the non-choice of having to walk up stairs to get to the door. Personally I love any excuse to exercise, but I've heard some complaints about this. You get used to it...don't forget why you joined a gym in the first place. - Be prepared that peak hour parking may mean having to park back in the gravel area and walk. Some may consider this a con, but I just see it as a sign of a gym that enough people love that it fills up during peak hours. Good for them! - If you want to pay before your bank account draft day then they don't draft. Very handy for when you have the money NOW and are worried you'll forget the draft is coming out. - They do NOT remind you when your contract is up, and that is stated in the contract. ALWAYS READ CONTRACTS, they are legally binding and you are putting your signature on them. Don't worry about taking up too much of their time, this is something you are agreeing to for one to two years (unless you're doing the month to month plan) so be sure you know what you're agreeing to! Once your contract is up you are moved to a monthly plan for the same price so you can cancel any time, but hopefully you won't want to :) Okay everyone, I hope that this review helped you with your choice. I only chose "very good" instead of excellent because I'm still very displeased with their offer of "included" childcare. I mean I obviously still signed up as it's cheaper than a sitter, but I don't agree with this as I believe it to be false advertising. Have a good day!
Got in great workout
The facility is nice and has plenty to do but when I pay for the membership to allow me to come in at 4:30 am I expect the gym to be open but right now I am sitting outside the gym still waiting for it to open and this isn’t the first time but more like the 6th time it’s happen, still no employees here to open the gym. Once again I have wasted my time, gas, supplements and money because why should I be paying for the membership to allow me to be here this early but not be able to workout?
Nice and everyone friendly.
Little run down.. My husband and i will not use the weight room. Were afraid one of those old machines are gonna break and hurt someone.. We went here cause of their pool. Indoor and out. But after our year contract is up (yes you have to sun a year contract) we will be going back to planet fitness..
Very rude customer service. They don't charge your account correctly for the correct amount and when you get ORDERS due to the USMC they will not let you get out of it due to being a spouse and moving out of the state. Very rude personnel who handle all the billing issues my credit card was being charged double and due to it NOT being authorized for that amount it was not going through. So when I called to say that my husband got orders and we needed to moved and why my card was being erratically charged they threatened me with collections and made no attempt to make things right with me the customer. Also when my husband called to tell then he had received orders the customer service girl was grilling him asking him questions as to why he was home at the moment and why she could hear his family in the background, Well he was home for a week helping his wife and his autistic child move out of state! Quite frank it was none of her business. So as to why my card was getting charged twice every month I never got answers to why(could of been some fraud going on) just got a rude call back with a threatening voice mail. I never used the gym due to my daughters problems so due to all this I give this one star. They really need to check the people who work there and maybe do some customer service classes.
Facility does not meet handicap requirements. There are a large set of stares to sign in. Cost is set for a year with no way to break contract.
I did a contract when we first moved to the area because of location. I wished I would have shopped around first. Equipment is old. The treadmills squeal and the elipticals are rough too.. Staff stay behind the desk and dont appear to be happy motivated people. Id prefer a place with more atmosphere and energy. Very disappointed and hate paying the bull every month.
Thank you
Oldest gym in Jacksonville and it shows and smells it. Big indoor pool, good for laps if you don't mind lugees floating by and green stuff on the tiles.....they just chlorinate it and imagine it's clean. Racketball and weights.
