REVIEWS OF TMPL Gym IN New York

Evan Gilmer

Simply the best. Professional, helpful and considerate staff. Wonderful facilities and amazing classes offered all week. You really can't beat how courteous everyone at this gym is. 10/10

As most of the other reviewers have noted, things started going downhill after it got acquired. I have worked out in NYSC before and I could appreciate the references that some of the members have noted. The facilities are ill-maintained and we get regular email updates that certain areas (i.e. Pool, hot water) are "under maintenance". That is not how a gym should be run. David should know better. Also, the management is terrible. After cancelling my membership and attempting to get a refund (I did the prepayment plan), the accounting team/management is giving me the go-around move and pushing the blame onto the "new system". It has been a month plus. That is no way to treat anyone let alone an ex-customer.

I’ve been a member here for almost two years, and for the most part, I haven’t had any issues. Sure, the soap in the showers isn’t Oribe, and yes, the towel quality has gone downhill, the machines break more often, and the A/C and WiFi are broken more often than they aren’t. And yes, it’s another David Barton gym that has only lost money, and now it’s owned by NYSC. All of that is manageable, because by and large, I’m able to drop weights in leg area, make a lot of noise, and it’s been no problem - I even asked if that was ok when I signed up. After all, this is a gym, right? Well apparently that policy has been changed - because David Barton himself told me to tone it down. Olympic lifting? That’s a no no, that’s too loud (oh, and there aren’t any bumper plates, either). If you’re looking to be seen, and not really use a gym for it’s purpose, this is the place for you. If you need to actually lift, this not the gym for you.

Amazing boutique group fitness experience, gorgeous salt water pool, state of the art facilities with results based training

MOT Mark

Nicely equipped, high end facility. Quite and very comfortable. Salt water pool.

Alice Fok

Pros: I come here almost exclusively for the classes. I like that I can just ‘drop in’ to most classes. So if I arrive late I can just take the next class without any financial penalty. Most of the classes are taught by boutique gym fitness instructors so you still get the Barry’s / Peloton / Tone House vibe at a more affordable price point compared to Class Pass. Cons: Wish it was closer to my apartment. I bike 20’ crosstown to get here on the daily.

Matt Murphy

Good gym. Good level of service.

Kyle Johnson

2 legit 2 quit. One of the best gyms in NYC - the classes are a major factor. Way more challenging than other gyms.

Jayson Pitkofsky

The SPIN room's Wall Video is AMAZING. Come to this gym and it's like going out on a Saturday night at the clubs, even on Wednesday nights. See and be seen here!

Federico Botti

A great gym where u can workout without people talking to you. It was great!!!

Gayle Smith

The Gym center included a decent TRX and boxing zone. I truly appreciate utilizing the zone. Be that as it may, educators likewise show classes here, 2hich is available to the remainder of the rec center with no solid protection. This mean you will probably be doing cardio as teachers are yapping directions and music is impacting. I wouldn't suggest doing cardio while these classes are in session, except if you have excellent clamor dropping earphones.

Terrance P Grannis

All gyms have cancellation policies. You give notice and either you give 30/45/60 days notice. These facilities cost a lot of money to open, maintain, staff, etc. if you are committed to your fitness journey, the money is simply an incentive to go more often. The contract you sign with renting an apt.... break that and see if your deposit and two months rent AT LEAST is forfeited, more than likely you’re on the hook for the entire lease you agreed to. Join the $10 gym with pizza parties if you want. The money you pay for fitness is money not going to medical bills later- preventative healthcare! Btw get records of twice a week visits to your gym, your insurance (most) pay you back for a lot of it!!

By far the best gym I have ever been too!

Tmpl has gone downhill since the acquisition by Town Sports International Holdings aka the operator of New York Sports Club. I've been a member since they first opened. This is not what others and I signed up for. 1. They are cutting corners with maintenance work. Fewer large towels and sometimes the wrong NYSC-style small thin towels are provided. The locker room reeks of musk and mold especially in the staircase from the men's shower stalls to the swimming pool area. Water dripping down the ceiling and nasty musty malodorous stank plus bleach (NASTY!). One of the shower stalls has been broken for weeks. The shower amenities have changed to some generic BS. There hasn't been any shampoo for almost a week now. Hand soap is now a rarity as they limited to 2 bottles of hand soap for 4 faucets! Only 1 of the 2 restrooms near the swimming pool has hand soap. They don't mop the locker room floors and workout area as before. The glass mirrors are not wiped down on a regular basis as before. There's dust on equipment and stretching area. The stretching mats are not wiped down on a daily basis as before. It reeks of armpit musk. 2. Lobby furniture is nasty! Ripped. Torn. Reeks of something odd. Just nasty! 3. Weights and equipment are not placed back in the racks. 4. Rude private trainers and their clients. How does a luxury gym stay financially viable if members are bringing in their own personal trainers? A few stash clamps, clips, and other small items in their gym bag. Are those theirs to take or does it belong to the gym? 5. New and rude members seeking bedtime clients. I know that's how they pay their bills. But the gym is not the right place to seek out clients. 6. Sticky fingers. LEAVE PEOPLE'S STUFF ALONE! IF IT'S NOT YOURS, IT'S NOT YOURS! 7. Rude members who will stay put and hogging one or several equipment for the entire time they are at the gym. No sharing with any other members. They balk and throw a crybaby misfit if you ask them kindly to share. They text. They talk and play on their phone. They chit-chat with their friends. 8. Shampoo, conditioners, mouth wash, lotion and Kleenex are for everyone. Is it really necessary for 2 guys who regularly fill up their own large plastic bottles to take home? LMAO! Seriously!!! These items are cheap stuff! Do you really need that much lotion? I'm there 3x a week at night. And there you are filling it up 3x a week! Just pumping and pumping the entire bottle of lotion. You have other bottles filled with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and mouth wash. like

I was really surprised about your service when I asked one of your trainers “how many more sets left” on leg press machine. He such a queen trainer I guess. He asked me why I’m asking and then said If I need more plates then go ahead and take all free. That is such rude answer for somebody who works with clients. Even if I don’t pay for trainer. The trainer is young with dark blond hairs. That is not acceptable to answer like this. If I’m asking something I just need answer and that means I can wait but definitely he cannot be rude to me. Hope you will take some action to this situation. Hopefully will never happen again otherwise it will be my last visit.

Bryan Siddall

Great gym. Great service. Nice amenities. Perfect location!

Tom Keyes

They have done a really great job with the opening. So far, so good.

Jay Tellthem

Do not sign up or work for this gym. I was en employee here and they will do anything to keep a buck. They never paid me for hours that I work nor was I reached out by NONE of the managers to address or try to fix the issue. After waiting months for a paycheck... MONTHS! that was never received I had to take matters into a different hand. These people are for themselves. Don't care for employees let alone members. The disrespect and selfishness of this place should not go unnoticed or unaddressed.

Derek T

Good luck if you want to cancel your membership. Everything was good until you sign up. :)

Yufei Zhao

I wouldn’t really recommend this place. I signed up for the membership and registered for 10 training session for around 1*** dollars. Then their machine was broken for two weeks. And no one cared to go through the most important policy such as cancellations policy with me. They took a long time to respond to emails. Also I wasn’t given the chance to look at the contact when I signed and they didn’t send me the contract until 4 days later, and at that time no changes could be made. I would highly recommend anyone to ask for and carefully go through the contract. And be really careful about signing up for anything.

Daniel Davis

The lighting is wonderful pool 25 miter 4 lanes Salt Water I belong 2 other Clubs This TMPL IS BUY FAR BEAUTIFUL

Donte Howard

Clean gym love the atmosphere and pool.

Hans Bellen

Been a member for a few years now. The gym is great. Plenty of classes. Not over crowded. Friendly staff and instructors. Good hours.

CLAUDIO MICHAEL UGALDE

We received an email that we can not bring scooters into the gym... l think is so stupid desicion. Administration should put more attention on the A/C (temperature is high) The trainers using 2-3 machines for their clients at the same time, clients siting on the machines texting and using social media, people having sex in the showers (cruising) resulting in poor hygenics. Administration needs to set priorities in the áreas that really affect all members.

Christopher D

This is a very well rounded gym that out performs Equinox. I'm glad I made the move!

Ivan Rodgers

Great gym and the location is ideal for me. Friendly staff and beautiful pool. After a few months, they need to do a better job with cleaning the shower area. And hangers in the lockers are missing. They no longer provide hair products. Then, an area that was supposed to be for stretching and abs turned into an office. I find that, for a professional gym, being without a decline bench press is utterly unacceptable. Allegedly, they ordered that equipment but that was weeks ago.

Kurt Brown

Great equipment Great staff Awesome lighting and decor Great eye candy/inspiration Wet areas not well designed - ceiling above showers falling apart and fixtures leaky. Sauna and steam room a long way from locker room on a slippery wet concrete floor. Clientele are the kind that just drop towels everywhere and expect the staff to deal, but they can't keep up so the locker room always looks rather ghetto.

Jefferey Dembinski

Multi-level gym with plenty of weights, cardio equipment, and swimming pool. There's also a spin room and a separate room for group classes. Friendly staff and knowledgeable personal trainers.

Louis LaFata

I’ve been a TMPL member for several years. However recently things have gone downhill. I adore the concept of tmpl but I can’t rave about it the way I used to. There are water leaks everywhere, mold in the pool stairwell and the staff are not as friendly as the guys who used to be at the front desk. Ever since the new holding company came in it sadly just doesn’t feel the same. Strong possibility I may join a better gym this summer.

john shams

Once again David Barton has taken the gym experience to a whole new level . A spacious and impeccably designed club with bountiful amenities , multiple studios, and tons of cutting-edge equipment for serious fitness enthusiasts. And the salt water pool puts this club in a class of its own. TMPL is the place to be for those that consider their bodies to be just that.

William Gallagher

i was month to month, & when i went to cancel i was told it takes 45 days to cancel, so i have to pay for 45 more days after cancelling. this was never expressed previously. gross tactic to get money out of people.

Viktoria Welledits

DO NOT SIGN UP! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF! I signed up at TMPL shortly after coming to NYC at the end of February. They had a good deal at that time so I rushed into signing up, but after actually working out there I realized that I didn’t really feel comfortable. So 1 week later I called up Jane to cancel my membership (I was given a 10 day trial period during which I could cancel at no cost) and she confirmed the cancellation over the phone (it took me a couple of calls to finally get Jane on the phone, emails were left unanswered). The issue is that they’ve been charging my account with the monthly membership fee ever since. Jane never or rarely replies to emails and when I try to call (from overseas), front desk tells me Jane is with a customer. I was also told that manager Patti would get in touch with me, but I’ve never heard from her. My bank is now trying to get the money back, if unsuccessful they will bring a lawyer in. I’m usually not a person to post an opinion online, but I’ve never had to deal with a company that showed such a lack of cooperation and honesty. Customer service is definitely on the bottom end of their list of priorities. Mistakes happen, but this is far from being one and I wouldn’t want this to happen to anyone else. So for anyone looking for a great gym, I highly recommend Chelsea Piers Fitness! It is slightly more expensive but I’ve never been to a gym with such a variety of equipment and the atmosphere is always great.

Nathan M

I wanted to go to this gym but $160 price tag and the snobby attitude of the sales rep turned me off. The gym is decent but if you are looking for weights, it is average to small in size. The swimming pool is nice and so is the music but for me, it's about having a wide selection and modern weight lifting equipment. At $160 and a zero negotiation technique, they will not be awarded my money. Go with Crunch--you're better off.

Danny Maher

I've been a member of a lot of gyms in the city such as Equinox and NYSC which have all been great experiences but Tmpl is by far the worst! I got a call as I signed up for one of their newsletters asking if I wanted to pay a small refundable fee to lock in a membership rate when their new West Village location opened. I was told that I could cancel before the start date and no fee would be charged. I sent an email and called before the membership started and was told by a membership advisor Jane Nielsen in November of 2018 that the $75 fee would refunded asap. The fee was never refunded and they continued to debit me $150 for two months following. I've sent multiple follow up emails since then and keep getting told that the fee will be refunded in a few days and was recently added into an email with a manager Kevin Kavanaugh who just never responded. It's been over 7 months and they owe me almost $400 and just keep stringing me along as soon as I send an email saying the full amount will be refunded. Their customer service is terrible and I fell like they are just stealing from me at this point. Do not join this gym!

Emir Halif

Finally a new gym model arrived to New York fitness scene. Breath taking cycling room. New machines. So much space! Cameras in steaming room. So no monkey business (like in previous DB locations)

Felipe Pedrosa

My main workout is swimming and the pool here is great.

Ethan Yiqi Pan

I’m surprised to see the overwhelming 5 star reviews here. Have you guys been to Equinox?? Customer service can be better. I called three times to the scheduling desk and no one picked up. Front desk staff frequently can’t answer my questions because they claim they are new. It seems like a pay check is the only reason they show up... Locker room smells. Showers are dirty. I have no issues with their equipments. They are updated and clean in general. Classes are good.

Anthony Akkad

Before the West Village location I signed up via phone. To hold the presale rate I put down a refundable deposit of $60. On the first day of the trial I decided to cancel and was told I would be refunded. Instead I received 2 additional charges for $145. I contacted the club was told I would be refunded. To date I have not been refunded and management is never available and doesn’t return my messages. I find this experience shady. I signed for a trail but never joined the gym.

Glenn Raymond

Just run, worst Gym ever. Hands down. They will treat you great to get you to join, but thats where it ends. Join a gym like Equinox if you want upscale otherwise stay away from this place at all cost! They will charge you even if you're not a member. Literally this place only cares about the money and not the customer. Hell Planet Fitness is a step up from this place. For the price they charge there should be no mold in the showers and the toilets should be spotless.. Save your money, You've been warned!!

Paulo Bud

My membership was frozen, but an employee unfroze it without my request or consent. I was wrongly charged on September 2nd. I went to TMPL on Sept 4th, and asked for a refund. Since then, I have been sending emails to two employees at TMPL asking for my refund. It is now Sept 20th, and no sign of my money. It has been nearly 20 days, three weeks, after the day I was charged, and all I got is "he's inundated with others having the same issue" and "just bear with him". I do NOT recommend this gym because of its customer service.

C Chung

My friend and I were curious. We toured the gym. It's underground, no windows, very dark, and not worth joining. We got a very awkward weird vibe from the members and staff. It was like "Let's hurry up and get the hell out asap". The women's locker room was nasty. The gym floors smelled like mold. Their membership advisor said they experienced multiple massive floodings throughout the entire gym. Umm isn't that why it stinks and a health risk?? Overall it's one step up from NYSC. If you're cheap, join Blink Fitness or Planet Fitness. If you can afford it, join Equinox.

Blair Lawson

Great vibes

Charlie

I highly recommend NOT to join TMPL. The Attorney General's Consumer Affairs Office should investigate the fraudulent and deceptive business practices. In fact, many dissatisfied members can file a lawsuit to null and void their current membership contract. The sales manager, Jane, is a bonafide poor saleswoman. The lies that come out of her mouth are disgusting! 10 out of 10 members will pay different monthly membership prices from 100-175. SHADY SHADY SHADY! You also have the rude and obnoxious personal trainers with the know-it-all mentality & I don't give a f@#$ if you want to use the equipment. The most annoying one is a middle aged, mentally unstable trainer who has nothing better to do than gossip, whine, b@#$h & spread fake news every second of the day. He has this weird me, me, me victim mentality and everyone is horrible. Members are the awkward types. A few are clearly high on meth, crack or both. One old guy is always going through withdrawal symptoms. You also encounter the psychopaths talking loudly to themselves. Another is a nurse who should be reported to the Hospital and State for potentially violating HIPAA laws. He's either trying really hard to impress guys with his gossips of patients or being stupid. The shower stalls are disgusting! Tiles are falling apart. Shower amenities are NOT the brand they advertised. Fake fake reviews. Reviews with 3 stars and fewer are real. Others with 5 stars are PAID reviews. Yes. There's a paid service available to write fake 5 star reviews. There's also fake reviews from current and past employees pretending to be members lol

Nick Naclerio

At first sight the gym looks great. After a few days you notice that someone hasn't properly cleaned the showers for weeks as slime is starting to accumulate under your feet. The showers and the entire mens locker room smells like mold. The employees and daytime front desk associate is rude and unempathetic to the fact that they are dealing with another human and are more focused on the persona they want to project in line with TMPL gym's pretentious image with no substance to back it up. The shampoo and body products are not the brand that is labeled on the dispensers. Coming in at merely the same price (actually more) than one Equinox location I would highly reccomend going there. I signed up and was offered a promotion that was not honored. I attempted to call the front desk and emailed the manager who managed to answer me after 6 days and then no reply after two weeks of attempting to get in contact for being wrongfully charged. I was signed up over the phone and no one made me aware of the cancellation policy. Town Sports International is no competition and there is NO CUSTOMER service in this place. Not to mention the 98% gay population that judge others and don't even know how to be loving kind human beings. That is what they call their "vibes" that they charge 170 a month for.

gaurav gupta

the best gym in new york city

Jason Ignacio

I upgraded my membership to Elite to get into this location a couple of months ago after NYSC acquired it. I was excited it was nice back then but I saw it exponentially go down south as expected. I believe they started to open the gym to regular members, you don’t need to be an Elite to get in anymore. The lighting is sexy AF but it makes it too difficult to see the dirt and grimes around the locker room/bathrooms. The hair balls in the showers are big enough to mistake them for a mouse.

Mary August

If you want a place where there are no posers and it's a work out with the best trainers in New York; this is the place. They are supportive and encouraging; no matter what age, fitness level or challenge.. the trainers and members are excellent!

Michelle Wright

I am in love with this gym. The classes are amazing. The ladies at the front desk are very pleasant. My work out is always a pleasure.

Arnaud de Bevy

Brand new equipment with cool features.

keila Dabadia

I am a member and l am LOVING IT!!!

Sasha Shapiro

definitely the most interesting gym i've been to, a little dark atmosphere takes some getting used to but the classes are great and people are in great shape (or getting there) which is motivating :)

Amy Height

The cost of the membership versus the reliability of this gym are not equal. For a dozen different reasons, they’re frequently without hot (and sometimes cold) water and the accessibility of the pool is pretty hit or miss: today is the twentieth time I’ve had to miss a workout because the pool is closed (without prior notice) or because — mid-swim — they’ve kicked everyone out due to lack of staff. It’s not conducive to a consistent training schedule. My emails to management have consistently gone unanswered. Go join Equinox instead.

Vladimir Ned

Super hot and amazing gym, this place not just a gym this is something else

Wes Higbee

This gym is amazing. The only gym in Manhattan that I've found worthwhile for people that are serious about fitness. I did have trouble with the music volume one night but it was beyond satisfactorily resolved.

Linas Zajankauskas

It’s subterranean but the lightning is very interesting. Group fitness studio well stocked with decent weights. Nice pool. Small but adequate boxing area. Kettlebells. I don’t like crowded gyms, and this one somehow strikes the right balance

david paritsky

I signed up for the 10 day free trial and was told by Jane that I "could call or email anytime" which turned out not to be true. When I called to cancel my free trial I was told I could NOT do it over the phone. Then they charged me $159 for the entire month on top of a $10 cancelation fee anyway. Definitely not worth the annual fee of $69 plus $159/month for a place w falling apart equipment and lockers, dirty showers and steam room, class instructors that don't show up, and cheap shampoo refills put into fancy name brand bottles. It's obvious the new management doesn't care for their members.

Nick Gro

FRAUD! Never opened a membership at this place but got a letter to the collections agency saying I owe money to this gym! Talked to Kevin Rogers at the front desk but he refused to help and just told me to talk to the collections agency. He even didn’t let me talk to a club manager. Beware

Modesto Acosta

clean and spacious. Just not enough equipment

Yamna Iqbal

I signed up for a trial with this gym almost a YEAR ago. Notified the manager Jane that I won’t be continuing days before the trial ended. She contacted me back and told me she’d take care of it. Almost a year later I still keep getting charged $69.00 and $169.99 every few months around the same time. I have been back and forth with the managers here through email trying to get this resolved. It took months for them to refund my money from last year. They are unresponsive and a scam of a business. I have never experienced such unprofessional nonsense ever. I have been very patient with them and they still feel the need to have my credit card on file. They are shady and a major scam. Save the headache from dealing with them.

Ryan Knowles

Great gym, friendly people.

Charles Miller

Yes, that's a DJ & he is a fixture at TMPL in the evening but that's not the reason to join TMPL. It's an extensive facility with excellent staff, meticulously maintained and very clean.

Sergey Razumov

modern well managed gym

Peter Martinez

This is a gym center that is charging premium rates, without premium pleasantries and administrations. For a considerable length of time, the rec center has had heated water issues. Ordinarily, it doesn't work by any stretch of the imagination. Be that as it may, when it does, it can get reproving. Of course, I comprehend structures are old, boilers break, and support can be troublesome. So, it's been a long time since the exercise center has given sufficient boiling water. As opposed to reacting quickly by fixing the issue, the executives and initiative accept that putting a sign, and sending messages to its individuals requesting understanding will take care of the issue.

Tom DeBerardine

Today I came in at 3:10pm (on a Sunday) to find out they decided to close early at 3pm without telling anyone. Their excuse was they had posted a paper on the door... Hours were not updated online nor was an email sent out.

Sri Thina

I joined TMPL in December and all winter there were issues with their hot water whoch never got fixed. Now that summer has come around, the air conditioning in the locker room has issues. It has not been working for more than a month now and every time I check when it would be resolved no one has any answers. Seems like there is always one issue or the other with this place.

Ryan Demchuk

Love this gym!! Totally positive vibe :)

Kristof

There's a reason the gym is dark and creepy. It attracts a lot of creepy, mentally unstable people. Watch out for meth heads, stalkers, crackheads, and thieves! The gym has lots of maintenance issues from broken equipment to massive floods. They also have a member that recently stabbed his roommate 16x across the street from the gym. Several members served time for theft. A few staffs are also an ex-con. You also have lots of sketchy escorts, pimps, and dealers there. Your dealers might be your teachers, healthcare workers, bartenders, struggling actors and singers, personal trainers etc. That's why we know which members are "functional" addicts like hackers, architects, bankers, lawyers, etc. There's also dysfunctional addicts roaming around the gym. I can't wait until my contract ends. Not luxury gym whatsoever. Join at your own risk! PS don't trust the 5-star reviews with fake names. David Barton is known to PAY a web company to promote the gym and write fake reviews. That's right! FAKE REVIEWS! Babu Dinesababu lmao! Fake name and fake review

Martin Morales

A nice gym means nothing without good customer service or working machines. Obvious where the priority lies here

Tia Ivonne

Great gym with amazing classes and wonderful personal trainers!

Jamie Taggart

Greedy greedy bastards. Beware all! Proceed at your own risk.

Muneeb Hassan

I'm not a member yet, but had a thorough tour by Javier. Incredible place, its passionate and their spin class is woof! I'm so going there!

Maria Adele Ressa

Great instructors, good classes, clean, never overcrowded, good facilities, friendly environment

Yang Dai

I understand gym like this wish to create an upscale setting, but the space is under-utilized in my opinion. If I were the designer or manager, I would relocate the juice bar and the office next to men's room to ground floor, and fill the vacated space and other aisles with more equipments.

Dimitry Roginsky

Extremely crowded for an Elite location and maintenance is going down

Ralph Simbulan

Great great gym. Very nice staff, great equipment and showers

Carol Aldrich

Love love this gym! Not only is the staff awesome and very knowledgeable, it is beyond spotless here! Crunch Jamacha is the best!!!!!!!

noemy ferreira

Scam artist , will do multiple charges on your card and take weeks to fix it . Don’t join and if you have a membership I recommend you cancel it . I should’ve never cancelled my New York Health and Raquet club membership

Demichael R.

Outstanding gym, outstanding staff, outstanding equipment, outstanding everything.

Daniel millan vega

There’s ups and downs but I have been 1.5 years with the and I like the location, the pool, sauna, steam bath, the yoga classes, the machines...they need to improve showers(almost done with the remodeling), billing and shower products

K

Update. Has become a lot more crowded and not as clean in recent months. Still nice staff and good class instructors. I think this is one of the nicest gyms that I've been a member of. They have a large number of weights and strength training equipment. Cardio machines are a bit on the basic side, with elliptical, stairs, treadmill, rowing, and stationary bikes, but they do their job. The salt water pool is kept at a nice warm temperature. There is definitely some chlorine in the water (I can smell it) but it's much less than chlorine-only pools. I take some classes, and the instructors I'm familiar with are all very fit and know what they are doing. I really appreciate that the maintenance people are always cleaning everything and replenishing the towel supply. The whole atmosphere is great and I enjoy working out here.

Steve Myers

At-last I got the membership. The first day I ran on the tread mill all long day. They have plenty of equipment of same type, you can use one machine all day long with out any disturbance. Their trainers are good actually so good and they have nice and clean place too.

Javier Meléndez

I have visited the club from Spain. I came with great expectations meet the installation and receive good treatment. I wanted to visit the equipment. the treatment of the staff at reception was very bad and I went to the street very disappointed. I will not visit this club ever. very bad experience

Roy Daiany

Well equipped, all new, trendy gym. Loud music and dark lighting give it an energetic club vibe. Must check out the huge saltwater pool.

Matthew Evrard

Was great until the “bro” crowd invaded

Tobias Nilsson

Great looking gym and certainly well equipped. Only thing I am missing is a jacuzzi. For me to be considered an upscale gym, which these guys want to be, you have to have a jacuzzi to relax in after a swim.

Babu Dinesababu

As far as NYC gyms go... this is one of the best hands down.. very clean, great classes and equipment.

Miguel López Asensio

Anyone knows how much is a single pass there?

craig wayman

I wish I didn’t have to even give one star. The place is filthy... bandaids on the locker room floors, water fountains backed up for days... the list goes on. The most appalling situation is their lack of respect for their customers. This is vividly displayed through their member dues. I have been paying twice, TWICE the amount as other members I know (I saw the receipts), for the same exact services and membership enrollment, which was started at the same time. This isn’t a business... at least not a legit one.

Jack Jackson

Nicest gym I've ever been in

valeria marino

My favourite gym!!!

Viviana Bruno

Apologies can only go so far. They really need to hire reliable lifeguards who are going to show up for work. Time and time again, I show up for an early swim only to find lifeguard called out and the pool is not open. Totally unacceptable. Management needs a "plan B" that doesn't involve turning swimmers away.

Stephen Nichols

well hello NYCsp good buy tmpl

Ruben Montes

I love this place. ☝

Andrew Ferris

Great gym with all the necessary equipment . The staff is very friendly with nice behavior .THE atmosphere is also cool and motivated. The training they provided is great. I like this gym

Chao Deng

Way too crowded these days...not like it anymore ..may change to another gym..and the pretentious gays there;( just can't find words to describe them...

Bobur Gafurov

If i could give a zero star i would. Worst experience ever. They just want your money. I went to this gym just to compare it to Equinox. And in about a week got from them 20 emails and lots of phone calls to get the membership. Got the membership over the phone cuz they couldn’t wait till Monday and pretty much asked me to sign up over the phone. My first question was if i could bring a guest, to which the answer was YES! I brought my friend cuz i wanted him to tell me if im doing the exercises correctly, if my posture is good, and while we worked out together he explained couple of my mistakes. The trainers manager CHRIS saw this and he said we cant workout together, we tried to explain him what was happening to which he said you cant workout together END OF CONVERSATION! After my workout i went to a membership adviser JANE and explained her the situation and told her that i get it you cant come with another trainer and train in the gym but my situation was different than that cuz i didnt bring a trainer i came with a friend, she called the other dude whose name i dont know. They blamed everything on me and threatened to cancel my membership. I told them to go ahead and cancel it. Cuz its stupid, i emailed to them and asked JANE couple of times to set up the training session for me, to which there were no answer for 2 weeks and now after i brought a friend that was a problem for them? Is that the customer service for the expensive gym? Thanks to those idiots i decided to get back to Equinox. At least in Equinox they have the best customer service and they’re not rude.

I’ve been a member of Les Mills in New Zealand for the past year and moved back to NY and joined this gym. They seem to be trying to align themselves with the likes of gyms like Les Mills but they don’t come close and I regret my decision to join. Their customer service is subpar to say the least. While they’re super attentive prior to you signing up, once they have your card number it’s a struggle to get anyone to answer any questions you have. It took me two months… TWO for them to respond about a question with my account. I called in, asked at the front desk, asked a sales person… I was always directed to someone else or told someone would get back to me but they never did. I literally had to wait in the lobby until I happened to see the correct person pass by. That doesn’t include the "under maintenance" situation at TMPL. Something is always broken! This week I’ve gone to take spin class three times and all three times after coming across town I arrive to a sign on the desk that says class is canceled. This particular class is the main reason I signed up. You would think that if you’re canceling a class you’d email customers and let them know. After the second day of cancellation I asked if there would be class the following day and was told yes, only to arrive and see it was canceled yet again. That’s poor customer service at is finest. Let’s not forget the weeks without air conditioning in the locker room. Then there’s the occasional times that the speakers are broken in the spin room or the ac is out. Mind you I’ve only been a member 4 months. Smile and stall is their tactic. They’re super friendly and will smile and give whatever excuse they have the moment to why someone isn’t available or why something is canceled. It’s annoying. While the gym itself is beautiful and the classes seem decent, it’s simply not worth the trouble for $160 a month. Spend an extra 40 bucks and go to Equinox. That’ll be my next move.
