I was a TapOut member & decided to cancel as I moved. I was STILL charged for the annual membership fee because I happened to cancel within my cancellation period (crazy right?). Now I understand They changed the ownership of the gym but I found it ridiculous being charged at this point. They tried to make me come in but I insisted to talk to a manager on the phone to finally find out that they couldn’t do anything as it was TapOut’s old policies. So basically I would’ve wasted time going there. They also tried to charge me for some days past my cancellation period 2months ago. When I complained they told me nothing could be done over the phone so I had to come in. It took the manager 5mins to initiate the refund which he categorized as an error in their system. Time wasted: Yes! Overall I believe the service is not worth the money. Very disappointed.

This is an updated review. I had given them 1 star before because i have had a really bad experience as a customer. This last couple of months have been a great experience at bally, i am guessing the new staff. Overall, great gym plenty of machines, the locker room and bathrooms are very clean. Membership is cheap, i only wish they were open 24 hours. Definitely recommend!

bally turned into tapouts flagship location in New York. now it's way better. Staff are friendly(especially Chris). implementing a new martial arts program headed up by some of ufc's finest trainers. worth checking out once they set it up.

Not a great place 1.The membership offer is you get one month free but you pay at the end of the month. (You pay either way at the end of the month) There's no month free. 2. You have to commit to a two year contract in order to get it for $30 a month. The only way you could get out of that contract, unless you're moving out of the country or you have a doctor stating that you cannot do any physical activity. Then after you sign the contract they would charge additional $40 after two months for membership fees. Plus after your one year anniversary they charge you $40. For annual fee. 3. The sale rep at the hands of me was very nice she offered me a deal that she could wage the additional $40 (member fee) if I signed a contract but when she called her manager to get approval, the manager declined and said that I will be charge for the additional fee if I signed a contract. Additional information: One year contract is $40.00 plus sign on fees and membership fees after 2 month. Member ship with no contract is $50. A month plus those fee I mention. It's so sad that they don't offer a special deals to city workers.

People treat this gym like trash because it is trash. Weights all over the place, machines broken, rude staff, no sanitation wipes. Gross smell coming from the free weight section (mold?), disgusting bathrooms. When it snows or rains, the ceiling leaks and there are buckets collecting water everywhere? Things they forget to mention when you join. Highly recommend joining Blink or Planet Fitness for a clean gym at 1/3 the price.

This gym is disgusting and dirty. They intentionally make it very difficult to leave, and it will require several in-person visits during a time the manager happens to be in. They assured me my account is cancelled but kept charging my card for months. The place is a complete scam. People don’t write negative reviews for nothing.

It's a decent gym at best. These machines are VERY VERY old, broken, and worn. There's always leaks at this place. They've been using the same equipment since it first opened as Bally's and NOTHINGS changed at all. Not many of their staff are inspiring seeing as how most of them are out of shape. The staff are pretty friendly for the most part, but this gym is lacking severely.

Good place to exercise, a great location, and closer to home. The staff need to be more consistent with the hours operation. Sometimes their is no staff in the front. They let people not clockin. I believe in safety. They should a have a staff clean equipment. Also We need, hand santizer to clean our uand, before a workout. The shower i would not use, is not clean. Overall is good, the staff are friendly and u never sees a trainer. The trainer should asks who needs help. His their excerise. Is like u are on yr own their. Anyway. Needs some improvement. One thing. Sometimes i want to buy protein shake noone is thier or what time they come ??? Is confusing. Please be consistent. No direction. Thank you.

I wouldn't visit this place at peak hrs. People tend to be rude and hold several spots at once. For example, using bench press while also using squat racks or using several dumbells at once and not allowing other people to use.

The gym is ok. It used to be a ballys and I guess it has gotten some renovations. New machines but it's kinda the same thing. The only difference is they offer some mma classes and I think some boxing, if your into all that.

All I have to say is, read your contract carefully. If you want to cancel, probably won't happen. They will still keep on charging you. Used to be a Bally's location, which Tap Out now owns. Essentially the same company, and essentially criminals. Again, read very carefully what you sign, or otherwise you may go through a nightmare like thousands of other people. Do not trust this organization with any of your information.

Gym is under $20 a month, with 3 bench presses, an incline benchpress, a squat rack, among dozens of other great stations and machines. You will never get a better bang for your buck. Blink and planet fitness are an embarrassment compared to ballys. I really have no idea what the hell the people on here are complaining about. You want people to walk around wiping your gear for you? Go Pay 200 a month at equinox. They do have stations that are broken for time to time, but usually repaired within 7 days based on experience. I have little to no interaction with the staff so i cant comment there.

It's a regular gym. The shakes are good. Now the childcare is free with membership good stuff. Don't use the showers or sauna skeptic about that stuff so run home and wash up. Just dislike the creeps that don't allow you to exercise in peace. No issues thus far.

Took a crisp cold shower one morning after my workout in the middle of January. For the last half month, I've been told that the hot water would be fixed "tomorrow". Tomorrow never came as it never comes, it only stays as tomorrow. I ask to email the manager and every time I call to get it, I get a different email that gives me a new bounce-back. I'm starting to wonder if this "George Lawrence" even exists. Starting to Google my nearest Blink or Planet Fitness. Update: George Lawrence exists and he is 100% uncooperative. This whole situation might well be a fluke but his abilities as a customer service professional left a lot to be desired. Doesn't bode well for my wanting to continue using this gym.

Love that this location has a sauna, However there's not much equipment for women to workout in., For the most part their machines break down easy ..they need to upgrade on all equipment .I don't agree an extra guest should have to pay to work out we should be able to bring a guest free of charge .

Horrible instructor who yells, curses and tries to humiliate new people. He doesn't run all the classes, but steer clear of the ones he does. You can't miss him. He's top heavy with puny legs. Gym is otherwise OK for the price. Daycare area is cute but the space is meant for young children and 10+ yr olds run amuck making it unsafe. It's difficult to work out not knowing if your child is going to get hurt by them.

I've been training here for 10 years. Even the name change and equipment upgrade doesn't impress me. The weight room is a mess. There's no supervisor upstairs and sometimes the bathrooms are a mess.

I join this gym 3 weeks ago it horrible there is about 10 to 15 machine and half of them doesn't even work. They but up a good front when you first walk in but it not until you walk up stairs that you see how old everything is.Some of the machine are so old the pads are broken, there is rust on some of the machines you can't even ajust them to your like and the staff don't even care.when you go to complain they look at you like( what ever)this gym is a lawsuit waiting to happen someone is going to get hurt.$33.00 for nothing I guess I'll be going back to plant Fitness

Sauna has been broken the past 3 times I've visited and it really needs to be cleaned. You can see mold on the wood which is dangerous for a gym/sauna. Please fix up this amenity it's not fair to pay for something that doesn't work and is a health hazard.

Before you sign contract, please read it very carefully. They do not mention the important parts. They're only interested in increasing the number of customers. I would not recommend this gym to anyone who plans to move in the near future or who moves frequently.

Completely unorganized, no staff walking the floor wiping down machines or racking weights, no sprays so you can at least wipe down equipment yourself, and rush members off of the floor 15 mins early which a practice I've never seen done at any other gym. Pretty awful, I'd rather just do pull-ups on street signs.

Worst club in NYC. Recently a TapOut. The place is never organized and MOST THINGS DON'T WORK. The machines and the equipment are old and worn out/broken. You'll spend more time looking for equipment or machines that function instead of working out. The locker room is so bad I just try to avoid it altogether. The climate control in the gym is also broken. This club is not worth a dime or your time. Don't sign up here and if you use passport - try a different location. This one needs a full makeover.

Locker room occupied all the time even only few peoples at the gym. Music from the management really loud that make it really hard to listen to your own device even by using good earphone device so you are forced to listen to their music or radio station. Please 99% of the peoples has their own devices, they dont need your music.

Equipment goes unmaintained sometimes for months at a time. Pins missing from weight machines. The elevator has been broken since last summer. The staff are all very nice and the membership costs are reasonable, but the upkeep is disappointing.

I give it a 3 for two reasons. 1) I hate to see more than one broken machine and 2) in comparison to other locations, there aren't many classes to choose from. Otherwise, I never had a problem with staff and the Trainers always answered a question I had. And it's location is convenient.

Worst staff period. Can't even bring your bag to the weight room with lifting equipment. One of the staff says it's gym policy in that no bags are allowed in the weight room or the cardio area which is absurd. What kind of gym doesn't allow you to bring your personal stuff with you. Overall terrible experience and would not recommend to anyone. Not worth your time and money especially.
